Re-installing MAIL only

My MAC Mail has completely crashed. Deleting the preferences file doesn't fix it. Does anyone know how you de-install, and re-install the Mac Mail application only without having to reinstall the entire system and all its apps.
Thanks for any help on this. I'm dying a death without my mail.

You shouldn't need to delete and re-install the Mail.app for this and doing so rarely resolves any problems.
If for a POP type account, try the following.
Quit Mail first and using the Finder, go to Home > Library > Mail > this account named folder (named by the user name and incoming mail server for the account) > MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded.
Delete the MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded file and empty the Trash.
This should resolve the problem and if successful, any previously downloaded messages that remain on the server will be downloaded again and for future reference, you should not be accessing and especially deleting messages with a POP type account when running the Mail.app or any email client and using webmail access at the same time.

  • Cannot install Mail application after downgrade Mac OS X 10.9 to 10.7.5.

Dear Mac fans, maybe somebody can help me with expirience or advice how to install Mail application on Mac OS X 10.7.5.
After I made downgrade from Mac OS X 10.9 (Maverick) to 10.7.5. (Lion) Mail application didnt work properly and report some errors.
During installation of Mac OS X 10.7.5 I use Time Machine and all other program and/or data working properly. Only Mail application not!
I find some information that Mail application is part of MAC OS X and tht is neccessary to reinstall whole MAC OS X to get mail application.
Will somebody have procedure or way how to solve this issue?!
    Really thanks in advance,
    Rusmir

That is correct. You must use OS X Recovery to restore OS X in order to reinstall the Mail app.

There is no standalone download available.

  • Mail will not send mail, only receive.

I have spent the majority of today re-installing OS X and all necessary updates, music, data after the death of a hard drive. Luckily everything went perfectly, except for the same problem I had with Mail even before the 1st hard drive died. Mail will not send mail, only receive.
All efforts time out and give me this message: "The connection to the server mail.earthlink.net on port 25 timed out"
Mail used to send messages, but stopped suddenly in 2004 and has yet to start again. Any idea guys?! I can't figure it out, under Account settings I have necessary fields filled in: Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) is set to "mail.earthlink.net", Server Port is set to 25, and Authentication drop menu is set to None.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    --DANIEL

This is NOT a problem with Mail or OS X. This is an incorrect settings problem - garbage in = garbage out and this information is certainly available at Earthlink's website and Earthlink also provides technical support.
Earthlink has an authenticated SMTP server they changed to long ago.
    SMTP Server: smtpauth.earthlink.net
Server Port: 587 but 25 should work if you are using Earthlink as your internet service provider for connecting to the internet.
Use SSL: Off or not selected.
    Authentication: MD5 Challenge-Response
User Name: Your ENTIRE Earthlink email address.
Password: The account's password - the same password used to check the incoming mail server for new messages.

  • How to install Mail

My father has PowerBook G4 with with Mac OS 10.5.8, and he has deleted his Mail application by mistake. I have tried to install it from Leopard installation DVD, but there is only Mail 3.0, that can not work with 10.5.8. I have tried also to update it, but updater doesn't seem to do anything with this, and its very strange...
Any ideas how to install Mail 4 (without buying newer Leopard that contains Mail 4)
    Thanks!
    Nemanja

Hello, I'm trying to re-install Mail. Is there a way to only install Mail and not iTunes, iCal, etc?
    Yes.
After clicking on the Optional install package of the DVD, you will find Mail within the Applications choice.
Click on the triangle next to Applications to reveal those contents. Then just select Mail only and press continue.

  • How to re-install Mail Services from scratch

I upgraded 10.4 to 10.5 and mail services did not fare well so I want to re-install mail services as if it was a new 10.5 install. By now I have web services, etc. running nicely so I don't want to start with a total fresh install if it can be helped.
I only have a few users and small maillist on this domain so I figured a start from scratch is really the easiest, if it can be done.
Basically smtp doesn't want to allow incoming and maillist won't start. Have tried too many things to remember so I figure it's back to square one and if a total re-install is needed, well, so be it but thought I'd check first re just a re-install of mail services.

  • How do I re-install "Mail" (v2.1) ?

    How do I re-install "Mail" (v2.1) ?
My mail program stopped taking in mail (of any kind)
but I can send mail ..... and get to the internet with safari,
the app finally crashes after awhile of looking for mail.
I did the connection doctor and activity viewer thing.
Checked with my service provider and they say my mail is there ....
and was able to access my mail thru "webmail",
(a web based email checker that's a feature of our server)
so password and username stuff all works ......
    maybe some pref is corrupted?
I can only think my next step is to re install "Mail".
    How's that done?
17' PB 1.5GHz, 10.4.8 and latest security updates

    problem solved!
    using webmail and activity viewer
i saw where it was hanging ...
and went in, did a search, then deleted a few emails.
one was 6.8 MB, not all that huge but,
    everything started working again.

  • Installing Mail

I accidentally deleted my Mail program. How do I re-install? Can this be downloaded from Apple.com?

    Not available as a download.
Is your OS detail provided accurate - 10.3.9?
If so, this will require using a 3rd party application called Pacifist.
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/12743
The 10.4 install package provides for custom installing select applications only such as the Mail application without having to use Pacifist.
If your 10.3 install package includes an earlier version than 10.3.9, after re-installing Mail you need to download the 10.3.9 Combo Update and re-install 10.3.9 to get the Mail application to the current version as of 10.3.9.

  • Unity Connection Voice Mail Only- NO MWI template

I am deploying a site with 8,000 mailboxes.  4,000 of those users are voice mail only without a telephone and will NOT require MWI.
I can manually remove the MWI setting from each mailbox, but I am looking at either a BATCH CSV setting or a TEMPLATE that I can turn OFF mwi when creating the users.
    Any ideas?
    TIA

    Hi there,
This setting change is available via Bulk Edit
Bulk Edit> Messages> Disable MWI functionality for this user
Bulk Edit changed in 8.x from where it was accessed in 7.x.
Here's a clip that speaks to how this is run now. You first search and select all
    the users you want to change and then choose Bulk Edit;
To Edit User Account Information in Bulk Edit Mode (some editing from original > this example
is for Caller Input settings but you'll see the point)
Step 1 In Cisco Unity Connection Administration, on the Search Users page, check the applicable user check boxes, and select Bulk Edit.
If the user accounts that you want to edit in bulk do not all appear on  one Search page, check all applicable check boxes on the first page,  then go to the next page and check all applicable check boxes, and so  on, until you have selected all applicable users. Then select Bulk Edit.
Step 2 On the Edit Caller Input page, change settings as applicable.
Note The  Status message at the top of the Edit Caller Input page tells you how  many user accounts are being edited. Also note that the page is  populated only with the fields that you are allowed to edit in bulk  mode, and that the fields available for edit also depend on whether all  of the user accounts reside on the local server.
Step 3 If applicable, set the Bulk Edit Task Scheduling Fields to schedule the Bulk Edit operation for a later date and/or time.
    Step 4 Select Submit.
Step 5 If  applicable, continue to change settings for these user accounts on the  related pages available from the Edit menu. As you make changes on each  page, select Submit before going on to the next page to make additional changes.

Try a couple of test users first to come up with the exact plan.
If you prefer you can also use Bulk Edit via .csv
    As a test here I tried the Bulk Edit and chose;
User with Voicemail > Users referenced in this CSV file > Next
This then allowed me to browse to an existing "basic" .csv that I had
used to create a test user recently when playing with BAT. In this .csv
I had one user named Bob Uncle with DN/ext 5126. So when I used this method
the Bulk Edit tool (smart puppy ) selected only Bob Uncle for my edit choices
and I was able to change the Disable MWI functionality for this user
Again, please try manipulating some test users to perfect
    your methodology.
I have attached the test .csv I used
    Cheers!
    Rob

  • RE-INSTALLING MAIL IN SNOW LEOPARD

I want to re-install MAIL and Address Book in OS X Snow Leopard. I have tried following the instructions on Apple Support (re-start and hold down the Control and R keys) - but nothing happens, my macbook just re-starts as normal. Any advice? I am pretty sure I didn't get an install disc with the macbook as everything came pre-installed, so how can i re-install from over the internet?
The reason I want to re-install MAIL  is because the addresses stored in the contacts memory on Mail dont' seem to be updating in sync with the contacts in Address Book. As a result I can't sync my Address Book with Itunes and my Iphone (it keeps syncing with the contacts in  Mail, which has older data from the first import of contacts when i first bought the Macbook). I deleted Address Book hoping I could re-install a new version and over-ride the address book stored in Mail, but deleting Address Book did not delete the contact lists linked to the Mail application. Not sure if I am making myself clear. There seem to be two Address Books : one is the application Address Book, and the other is the Mail address book, and they both seem to exist independent of each other.
Any help with either re-installing Mail and Address Book so that I have just one version of my contacts much appreciated.

Forget TimeMachine for cloning your system, Apple DU Restore or SuperDuper does fine (you can still use T/M if you want).
There is no software way to create RAID5.

  • Can I install iDVD (only) from an iLife 11 CD on a new (late 2011) on-line MacBook Pro/Lion purchase that no longer included it?

Can I install iDVD (only) from an iLife 11 CD on a new (late 2011) on-line MacBook Pro/Lion purchase that no longer included it?

Purchasing iLife 11 on disk is an easy thing to do. ILife 11 will include iDVD.
If you have iDVD on another Macintosh you can transfer it to your new computer. That procedure has been discussed here many times, if you do a search you will find that procedure.

  • Indesign CS3, 5 and 5.5 are installed, but only CS3 will open

Indesign CS3, 5 and 5.5 are installed, but only CS3 will open. CS 5 and 5.5 versions seem to be opening but then "quit unexpectedly." Any ideas on how to get 5.5 to open and to be default version? Thanks!

OS 10.6.8, we are in a college marketing office, and another in the office has the same setup, also with the 3 versions of InDesign. He's not having this problem. This has been a problem on this iMac since 5 and then 5.5 were installed.
What happens is that when you open the applications from the dock or applications folder, 5 and 5.5 seem like they're opening, but then the "quit unexpectedly" message. Here are screen shots: Thanks for any clue to this odd behavior.

  • Installing InDesign Only from Creative Suite Disk

I wish to Install  InDesign ONLY from my Creative Suite 2 Disk.
I have The full Creative Suite 4 collection of applications installed on my Mac Pro.
It resides on my NEW main hard drive. All of my copy of Creative Suite 2 was lost as per the drive failure.
I want to install InDesign on my new drive. I still have the Creative Suite 2 Disks from whch to do the installation but am not sure how to install only one applcation form them.
This is likely a simple procedure, but I hesitate to undertake it without knowing precisely how to do so.
    Thank you,
    _my_pov

Thank you. I'd never used InDesign in the past and given the resolution to this installation think I'll pass on doing so now.
CS4 Photoshop and Illustrator are my mainstays...and needing to reinstall   them again might be more grief than it's worth.
    Thanks Again.
