Re-installing my ipod

I have just re-stored my I-pod. I have a rather old i-pod and i was no-longer able to update my songs. To do this i had to up-date my ipod, and to do this i had to restore my i-pod, as it was origionally installed on a PC, and i now have a Mac. After restoring my i-pod it all went blank! So i have now tried to re-install it as i think it is now like a brand new one, however it is not letting me do this, and it is still all blank. When i plug it into my ipod dock it doesn't charge (but it does make some whirling noises). Anybody any ideas what i need to do to get it working again?
Thank-you!!
Kate
(ps, i don't know what type of OS i work off, I know i have a G5 though)

Thank-you for getting back to me. There is no picture, It is just all blank. I'm not sure what model it is (it's normal ipod size and is 15 GB and about 3 years old if that's helpful?). I've had it charging on my dock for a couple of nights now (I restored it on Sunday), but that hasn't helped. I read on someone else's post about plugging it into an AC addaptor to finish off the process. It didn't ask me to do this, so i didn't. Do you think that's what i need to do?
Thank-you!!

  • I installed a ipod shuffle, named it differently, now my ipod classic is not recognized by computer or itunes.  How do i fix?

I installed an ipod shuffle with different name.  Now my ipod classic is no longer recognized by computer or itunes.  It appears that Itunes decided that I had replaced the classic with a shuffle.  Classic battery doesnt seem to want to charge, and cannot restore.

  • Windows 200 PC with SP4 won't boot after install of iPod software from CD.

I installed the iPod software from the CD of my new iPod mini. It requested that I reboot the PC, which I did but it never rebooted. It hung and would not even boot in safe mode. After many attempts I booted to the boot console and when throught the install repair process. The PC will still not boot.
Is there any way to bring up the PC without having to rebuild it?
Has anyone found a way to get the PC back to it's original state, without a disk re-format?
    Does Apple have a solution?
Any comments from Apple Support or their QA team would be of interest

Last know good does not work. I don't receive any error messages. I did the repair but PC still will not boot. The starting windows bar goes about three quarter of the way to the right and then it just stops. It does this regardless fo which boot mode I choose (ie. safe mode).
I do not have the iPod plugged in during this process.
Is there anything else I can do or that we can try from the console command mode?

  • Can not install the Ipod software on Windows XP SP2

Hello, I can not install the 'Ipod logiciel' [Ipod software?] for my Ipod Nano on my PC with Windows XP SP2. I don't have any error messages but the installation gets stopped just before its end. I mean, the Install Shield Program disappears while the steps "Publication of the product information" Does somebody know what's happening or where the problem might comes from? I would really appreciate your help. Merci d'avance,
    William

I have the same problem. The old version 4.7 works fine on XP but upgrading to version 6.0 or above gives me an error message that says ( The iTunes music library .itl file is locked on a local disk or you do not have permission for this file.) I bought my wife a Nano and the XP machine won't see the Nano, but if I plug the Nano into my Laptop with Win 2000 with the same 4.7 version of iTunes it will work just fine. The only problem is that all the music files are on the desk top machine. I can load the nano but I have to do it in a round about way. I tried updating iTunes about 6 different times with the same results. You must remove Itunes through ad/remove hardware in windows, restart win. then reinstall the older version. I tried the repair rout several times but that did no good.Good luck and I hope Apple can help us out with these problems!

So i thought i would unplug and try again. However, it now wont let me do anything. The ipod touch screen now has a picture of a cd and the ipod cable which i cannot get rid of and when i plug it in, my computer doesnt even recognise it is pluged in. Help!
Any help on how i get out of this mess would be fantastic.
    Thank you

Unless your running Itunes 7.6 (the latest) then Uninstall your current Itunes through add/remove in Xp or whatever way they do it on a Mac and then when you have a fresh copy of Itunes 7.6 installed do the following.
    1. Turn iPod Touch OFF completely.
    2. Plug iPod Touch into PC/MAC while still of.
    3. Turn iPod touch on, then IMMEDIATELY do the following steps
    4. Hold the 'Home button' and 'sleep/wake' button together for atleast 5 seconds.
    5. The Apple logo will appear
    6. When this happens release the 'sleep/wake' button BUT KEEP HOLD OF 'HOME' BUTTON
    7. Your iPod will reboot (Apple logo)
    6. iTunes will recognise iPod in 'Recovery mode'
    8. You will be able to 'restore' your iPod Touch now.

  • Games wont install on Ipod

I have a G5 Ipod and yesterday I bought 3 games for it with the new iTunes. The games wont install on my ipod, when I try and sync them I get the error message for each game that the game cant be installed because it cant be found! The games show up in the games section of iTunes and they are located in My Music/iTunes/Unknown Artist/. Anyone know what the problem is?
Ive tried looking on the FAQ section but the games bit dosnt seem to be working yet and neither does the e-mail button
    Any help appreciated!

I have the same problem as David W. I downloaded the full games suite (9 games), I updated the 5g iPod with the new version. After that, the games did not install to Ipod, it says my mac was not authorized to use the games, but its the same mac i downloaded tons of music yesterday with no problem. Weird thing, although the games appear in my mac (under iPod Games) they are not listed in my Purchased file, diff from all the music I downloaded that is listed there. So I'm not sure if in reality I paid for the games (have to check with PayPal), although in fact they were downloaded to my mac. Anyone any ideas?

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components

  • Windows 7 can't install my iPod and iTunes can't find my iPod

Hello, I've just repaired my laptop and picked up at that shop and when I tryed to plug in my iPod it says :
The device driver is not installed
and I don't know what to do
any solutions?? please I need help

it might be worth trying a Windows reformat of the ipod (to FAT32), and then trying to restore again.
if she is showing up in My Computer, right click on her and select format. note that it has to be FAT32 for a Windows formatted ipod:
iPod no longer plays music after formatting or partitioning the hard disk
if the reformatting goes through okay, try plugging her back in and restoring again.
if there's no joy with that, it's probably time to send her in for service, as per:
iPod displays a folder icon with an exclamation point
