Re-installing programs in the iMac G5

I have been having some problems with my emac and have decided to buy a new imac G5. My main issue that im worried about is re-installing office for mac and Adobe Creative suite. My question is that i always thought you could only install these programs once and if you try installing it again on another computer it will not let you. I spent alot of money on these products and do not want to have to buy them again.
Can someone help me please.

You'll have to deauthorise your eMac before installing it on your new iMac, just like you will have to do the same thing for your iTunes Music Store purchases if you have any. I don't know about Office for Mac, I don't use it and never will but for the Creative Suite that's what you have to do. I will be transferring all my stuff from this old G4 iMac to a new iMac G5 as soon as it arrives and will have to go through this process myself.
I have Photoshop CS2 open for now and see that the deauthorising in under Help ---> Transfer Activation. I think this is what you have to do although it does look like you have to go through each component of the Creative Suite...
If you feel better about it, go to the Adobe forums and ask over there the users there will let you know first hand. And if you don't mind coming back with the info for others about to go through the same it would be much appreciated by the community here.

Hi, I have bought Photoshop and Premiere Elements for windows, but I now have a iMac and would like to deactivate on the PC and transfer the programs to the iMac. Is that possible even do I bought it for Windows?

Normally an Elements purchase is good for both platforms.  You should only need to download and install the Mac versions of the programs and install and activate them using the serial number you have from the opriginal purchase.

    Thank you.

No pre-installed app that will do all that, and yes, you could buy iWork - or you could download the free (although they do seek donations) LibreOffice: http://www.libreoffice.org/ or OpenOffice: http://www.openoffice.org/porting/mac/

  • If the iMac is suppose to be secure from viruses, malware, spyware and other internet threats, then howcome i have seen internet security programs for the iMac?

on the website it clearly stated "It’s highly secure and reliable"  and that "You don’t need to buy software to speed it up, keep it safe, or get it to work better."  and it also says that "The built-in defenses on a Mac help keep you safe from viruses and malware without the hassle of constant alerts and sweeps."   If this is the case, then howcome in download .com, i have seen internet security programs for the imac?
So if one day i accidentelly stumble across a website that has malware in it, will the imac protect me?
Theres this website that i feel to afraid to go to because some people reported a malware threat on that website. But will i be able to safely go to that website with the imacs security?
Im just confused that there are these internet security programs for the imac despite of the imacs built in security.

In addition to Kappy's excellent advice, you need to remember that only you can protect yourself (and your Mac) - for instance, I never go near any torrent site. Not only are most torrent downloads illegal, but quite a few softwares on those sites contain some not-so-nice additions (malware, etc). So, no, your Mac would not protect you there - you need to protect yourself; it is called "responsible websurfing".
I only download software from reputable sites (i.e. the developer); I don't go to questionable sites at all (there is a great plugin for Firefox called "WOT" - it grades the sites from excellent to "poor reputation") - if you use Safari, check to see if it is available there. And I don't download "free" software or music or whatever that costs elsewhere - I pay for it.

    1. Open Boot Camp Assistant and download the drivers
    2. Create the partition and insert the Windows disc
    3. Your computer will restart into the Windows DVD. Erase BOOTCAMP when it asks for a volume

  • How can I flush/repair installed programs in the Application Manager / Creative Cloud?

Hi. I had installed a few of the Adobe programs through the Application Manager/Creative Cloud service on a Windows 7 system. The system crashed, forcing me to recover from a prior time backup, which was from before I installed the programs. Now, the Adobe Application Manager shows the prior programs as "Installed", and will not allow me to re-install them. These programs *do not* appear in Window's "Uninstall Programs" listing for me to uninstall manually, *nor* do they appear in the Start Menu to launch. And as far as I can tell, they no longer have Registry entries.
How do I flush the Application Manager to tell it that I do not have these programs installed anymore, or force it to re-install?
    Thanks.

I don't believe the data on what is installed and what is not is held at Adobe; I think it is in your particular instance of the AAM that "knows" what is installed.
I'm not sure what happened to me will help you or not but... Also, I have a Mac not a Win7 system.
In my case, I had Acrobat X Pro and I download Acrobat XI. Acrobat does not like to install when there is an older version already on the machine. Adobe tells you to unistall the older version and then install the new version. Why this isn't in their install scripts is beyond me. The installer for Acrobat XI ran sucessfully. I didn't realize the problem until I went to open a PDF.
I manually uninstalled Acrobat X. Still had problems. Then I manually uninstalled Acrobat XI. (Both times I used the uninstaller Adobe provides.) I started AAM and it showed the XI installed. I tried the Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool. The tool is supposed to clear out any left overs after an uninstall and thus "flush" AAM. When I ran the Cleaner, Acrobat XI didn't show up in the list of programs. I eventually found a second uninstaller for Acrobat XI that cleaned things up such that AAM agreed I needed to install the software.
With the disk-based installs, when you ran the installer you got an option to "repair" the current installation. Why you have to jump through all the hoops that AAM has not is beyond me. It would seem more rational to put options into AAM directly to let you re-install things or repair them. This is one where Adobe dropped the ball.

  • Installing Programs Without The Disk Drive Icon Loading On Desktop

    Hey,
I am super anal and don't like any icons on my desktop and I am wondering how, when installing programs, you can install them without the disk drive icon being left on the desktop?
    Thanks.

Oh, right, sorry, one thing I didn't mention. I DO like to have CDs and DVDs and such show up on the desktop when I (seldomly) have them in my computer.
So, is there any other way? If I uncheck the CDs and DVDs line then this solves the disk drive icon but also gets rid of my CD icons.

  • Install programs form the recovery disk to the upgraded windows

    hi
I have HP G60-230us and I've upgraded form windows vista to windows 7. I used to use the programs which came with the computer. but when i upgraded to windows 7 all the programs were deleted. I need these programs.
Can I install these programs from the recovery-disks to the new windows?

No, the recovery disks will only put your computer back to the condition it came from the factory which is Vista.  Did you actually do an upgrade or clean install.  If you truly did an upgrade you should have a folder on your C drive titled SWSetup.  This folder has all the originally installed programs.  If you did a clean install and lost all the programs and the SWSetup folder then you may have lost these programs.......unless they are available at the HP website.  Go to hp.com and click Support and Drivers and enter your part number or model and you will find most of the programs and drivers are available for download.

  • Is there a really good personal Financial software program for the iMac?

Looking for a very good Personal Finance software for the iMac?

I use iBank 5 and I've been quite happy with it. My needs are fairly modest, though, when it comes to that. All I really wanted was something to sync transactions between my Mac and iPhone to track checking accounts for day to day purchases.
I manage my portfolio separately the "old fashioned" way.
I don't know how it compares to the Windows version of Quicken, but there is a Mac version of Quicken (Quicken 2015) available in the app store.

  • Install program from my imac to an older powerbook g4 I just bought?

Hello, new here, learning about my mac. I have an imac I bought about 2 years ago. Love it. I just bought a used powerbook g4. Is there any way to install the garageband that came with my new imac on to this older powerbook? thanks!

Hello Jzap, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Unfortunately no, It's likely a Gray Intel Machine specific Disk.
And GarageBand for the PB will be hard to find, but look on eBay & such, iirc GB should be on iLife05 Discs or later.

  • Problem with installing programs after the new update.

I am having a problem with mounting downloads. I tried installing a download and in the dowload manager it says the disk could not be mounted about 2mins later i get a warning telling me the device is not configured. I had the same problem as everyone else not being able to get past the frozen screen. I resolved this using the disk utility on the install disc. I am wondering if this had something to do with my mounting problem. I would love some help.

Others have reported the same experience, so you're not alone. The consensus seems to be booting into safe mode and mounting from there.
