Re-installing Windows XP on MSi All-In-One PC's

Hi,
I have just taken over support of two MSi All-In-One PC's because the previous support person was fired for stealing money. As such I don't have the Administrator Passwords for either of the machines and they both appear to have viruses. They are both running Windows XP Home Edition, SP3. I need to re-install Windows on both machines so that I have Administrator access and can install Anti-virus software etc. I need to know the following please:
1. Do these machines come with an OEM version of Windows XP? I can't find any disks so maybe they don't?
2. Can I download a copy of the MSi OEM version of Windows XP from somewhere?
Basically I need to re-install Windows on the two machines but I am unsure how to go about it. Any help would be appreciated thank you...
Thanks and Regards,
Phil

You need discs to reinstall OS. You can't download OS, unless you go the illegal way. If these came with Windows preinstalled, there should be factory reaset possibility when booting (when you see "Hit Delete to access BIOS" look for something based on resetting factory settings). Magic word:IF.
If not, you need CD and key of course.

  • Old MSI all-in-one wireless connectivity problem

    Hi folks,
Hope someone can help - if only by sending me somewhere else!
I have a reasonably old MSI all-in-one model MS-6633 (NetON AP 1900) which I bought new perhaps 6 or 7 years ago.
I'm running it wirelessly, connected via a TP-Link Powerline Ethernet Adaptor.  My main PC is wired to a TalkTalk modem.
For some reason it's recently been disconnecting itself from the internet, although, by going to 'connect to' I can usually fairly quickly regain the internet connection.
I've spoken to TalkTalk and their tech guy ran 20 minutes of tests - at the end of which he said that there was nothing wrong with my internet connection or any other equipment leading to my PC......so the problem must be in the MSI unit.
Mind you, I don't entirely trust him - would he tell me if I was getting brief disconnections caused by a fault at their end?
He gave me the MSI number (0870 8200 009) - which always comes up with a "we're busy" automated answer - and I don't know what else to do.
Can anyone help; tell me what I need to do, or redirect me to somewhere useful.
    Thank you

Hi there - glad someone cares!!!
Yep - definitely in the UK - whether I like it or not!
Right - O/S is Windows XP Home edition
Automated updates are always turned on....
Connection to the phone line is by router
I considered removing and re-installing the drivers, but thought I'd ask around first.....
Actually, yesterday I did a clean-up which hadn't been done for ages.
The computer concerned is my spare/back-up, which my wife uses at present and I do tend to forget to do any housekeeping on it though, but  ever since I worked it over, (cookies, temp files, etc removed) there's been no problem with the internet connection.
I'm not taking the kudos - I just thought I'd do it and just perhaps, it's solved the problem.
However, if anyone knows of a better way to ensure that the computer remains connected, I'd love to hear from you.

  • Windows 7 driver hp all-in-one 18-1201ix

i need windows driver for Hp all-in-one 18-1201ix

As previously stated "HP does not provide Windows 7 drivers for the HP 18-1201ix All-in-One Desktop PC."
    ****Disclaimer*****
HP doesn't recommend the installation of Windows 7 on a computer shipped with Windows 8, nor will it support the installation of Windows 7. HP will not provide Windows 7 drivers and suitable drivers may not be available for the hardware in the computer. Also, Windows 7 may not support some of the hardware or software features designed for the computer.
Make sure you create your HP Recovery Discs or USB Flash Recovery media before modifying or changing ANYTHING.
    You will need to DISABLE "Secure Boot" and maybe ENABLE "Legacy Support" in the "BIOS Secure Boot cofiguration" on the settings page shown below, before you can attempt to install Windows 7;
    or
Additionally, as the hard drive may be partitioned as GPT, you may have to boot the computer using the "UEFI - CD/DVD drive" or "UEFI - USB Flash drive" options in the "F9" boot menu. If "UEFI - CD/DVD drive",  "UEFI - USB Flash drive" or something to that effect doesn't exist in the boot menu, please post a screen shot and/or descibe the listed boot options.
I suggest using Windows 7 SP1 for the best intallation experience. If you need Windows SP1, please see "How to Install Windows 7 Without the Disc" to download and create your own Windows 7 SP1 disc. If the DVD refuses to boot as UEFI, you may need to use a USB Flash drive (may require DISABLING "Fast Boot" in the BIOS) as the installation media. Please download the Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool to create a Windows 7 SP1 USB Flash drive. Please note that some computers may not recognize a valid UEFI enabled USB Flash drive if it is formated as NTFS and may require a FAT32 formatted USB Flash drive. You should be able to make a FAT32 formatted Windows 7 installation USB Flash drive using Rufus, UNetbootin, Universal USB Installer, or WiNToBootic. I like Rufus, as it has options for "GPT partition scheme for UEFI computer" and "FAT32".
    Most of Windows 7 drivers from the Compaq Presario All-in-One CQ1-4118LA Desktop PC Drivers page should work on your HP 18-1201ix All-in-One Desktop Computer. Both models use a variation of the Arroyo motherboard. If you still have missing or unknown devices after installing the drivers, please post the Windows Device Manager's "Hardware Ids" for those devices as shown in the example below;
If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

  • Solution centre not working for windows 7 and wireless all in one, altho can print ok

I have installed an officejet 6500 wireless all in one on my HP Elitebook running Windows 7 64 bit.
Although the printer installed - albeit with an error for Microsoft.net4 that was resolved after a re reboot - HP Solution Centre v14 wont start. Indicated device installation wasnt complete, plugged in USB and tried to uninstall/re-install all same thing.
Ran Network, scan and print utilities and have MacAfee and firewalls all dis-abled during install. After the error pop up it just closes.
The printer works fine and I can scan through the webscan option but what's happened to solution centre?

    Great information.

  • MOVED: NVIDIA GE FORCE 540M ON MSI ALL IN ONE AE32 PROBLEM

This topic has been moved to MSI All-In-One and barebones PC series.
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=159691.0

    Hi there, welcome to forum.
    "*Update*
I have a feeling that my PSU might be causing the low performance, seeing that the Quadro requires two power connectors to attach to it: (http://www.pny.com/support/quadro/install/FX4000AdditionalPowerRequirements.pdf)
    Here is my PSU:
    http://www.xpcgear.com/500wseepsubl.html
I do not know much about PSU's, so any input is greatly appreciated.  Thanks."
your PSU is good one and should be powerfull enough.
    Output    +3.3V@28A, +5V@30A, +12V@34A, [email protected], [email protected], +5VSB@2A
can't be power related, since at 1st your PSU must be enough, 2nd same issue happend with your old mx 440 VGA. card malfunction are dismissed as possibility as well since its work fine in another machine.
think its drivers mess. ATI drivers(or part of them) still exist, guess is not completely removed. same symptoms happend many times when switching between Ati to NV, lagging 2D scrolling lag and etc, caused by ATI Smart (part of ATI Drivers) sometimes remain(survive after driver cleaner).
suggest you a new clean fresh OS installation. like Nv support already directed. also ensure in BIOS, in "Integrated Peripherals", "Init Display First" are configured to AGP.
let we know how its going, if problem persist we a ready with a tips to resolve your issue.

  • I am trying to install a hp officejet 4215 all in one on a HP Pavilion slimline with Vista

I am trying to install a hp officejet 4215 all in one on a HP  Pavilion slimline with Vista, I log in under myself and  I am an administrator, When I run the cd to install it shows that I need to be logged in as administrator, any help out there ?

I am not sure why the HP software needs to recognize your airport. That's a function of the OS. Can you be more specific about the problem you are having? Do you have some screen shots? Is the Macbook connected to the router?
If the HP printer can't recognized the router, that's a different story. You'll need to plug the Macbook into the printer (by cable) to config it (that's typical). You may need to assigne the printer its own static IP address (which I would advise doing anyway). That way you can always find it and it will make setting up network printers on other computers a bit easier.

  • Unable to install windows XP på MSI K8N NEO

    Hi!
I have problems installing windows XP (SP1) with MSI K8N NEO Platinum Edition. After I bootet my computer (I build it myself) I noticed I had extrem cpu temperatures (65-70 degrees celcius). A quick search on the net indicated that a bios-upgrade might solve the problem, as my current bios probably showed too high temperatures.
As I had already installed windows XP i downloaded the bios and upgraded using the msi-windows-bios program. And, after the reboot my cpu temerature was 20 degrees lower (45 degrees celcius), which is more normal. But during the bootup of windows I got a blue-screen (or, actully a blue blink, just for a nano-second), and then my computer rebooted.
As the system were fairly new and didn't contain any importaint data, I decided to try to make a fresh install of winXP. But now I get a blue-screen during the installation, when the progress-bar says "installing devices", the blue screen appears when it is about 75%.
The installation of XP went fine before the bios upgrade, and I used XP for several hours without any problems at all - except the high cpu temperatur. Now my cpu temeperatur is acceptable, but XP wont install/boot.
I have tried to disable all the integraded devices (such as firewire, network, sound card etc) in the bios menu, but the XP install still provides a bluescreen during the installation of devices.
    My system:
    A64 3000+
1024Mb RAM (corsair value, I believe)
    Samsung SATA 160Gb HD
Matrox Millenium G400 (I know it is old)
    NEC 2510 DVD Burner
As I said, this is propably caused by the new bios, as it did work with the old one. I have also tried "Load failsafe defaults". Do you guys have any ideas of how to fix this?  Should I (can I) downgrade my bios (I do not have a floppy drive in the computer).
    .wirrum

    Hi wirrum,
I see you are Swedish (the på was a give away).
I recently aquired a MSI K8N Neo2 from Komplett - where did you get yours from? maybe that have a bad batch because I am seeing the same problems as you.
I have two different problems , the same stability problems you are seeing and problems with the keyboard (ps2) not always starting up. I'm currently at Bios V1 and after seeing your problems I might just wait with V1.1 unless everything else fails.
Im considering an RMA to komplett soon and asking them for a motherboard that works (maybe from another manufacterer).
I have a decent PSU (Antec Truepower 480) and DDR400  from Kingston thats on their reccommended list, no overclocking, stable settings, I built the thing with ESD protection and carefully. Not overly impressed right now.
Some suggestions - turn off AGP Fastwrite, turn on SATA DMA access if you are using SATA. Turn off any Overclocking, move your memory around , try just one stick in DIMM 1 see if that helps.
I finally managed to get through an XP install but it took 6 hours to install. And it will occasionally stutter then shutdown entirely.

  • Hp Mini 5101 Freezes While Installing Windows....All versions, xp,vista,7,8.....Nothing Takes

I refurbish companies retired computers as part of my business, part of our agreement is the machines all come blank, they delete partitions and wipe the entire hdd multiple times prior to my getting them, Most are as simple as reinstalling windows and any missing drivers and they are complete machines again, I currently have been working on an hp mini 5101 off and on for a couple of weeks now that I have been unable to get to take a copy of windows, and I have tried them all, xp, vista, 7, 8 and none have taken, I tried running ubuntu as a live cd and same as windows during the gui windows loading screen the machine freezes, I even tried popping the hdd out and throwing it into my other hp machine and doing a windows install with an hp windows 7 32 bit install disc, when installed hdd back in machine it again freezes when it reaches the animated windows graphic, I have searched forums, here and the internet in general, and have found no other mention of this occuring, i have found reference to the screen doesnt support it so people see the vista screen instead but i see the windows 7 screen then freeze during the animation. I am assuming (yes i know what happens when you assume, thats why i am here asking for help) this is somehow bios related from their prior use of the machine, I had some toshibas that come in that required a certian mode be changed from ahci to compatablity in order to install windows, I know that the company that had it got it with a vista key and an xp downgrade, I am trying to install 7 on it.
Any other information I may have left out let me know,
Thank you for any help you may be able to give

    Hi MidwayIT,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP Mini 5101 and freezing after loading Windows. If it freezes on the loading screen it could be the graphics card. Have you performed a hardware test?

Fomerally had this working great.  a tech had some type of patch which allowed this device to work with my Windows operating systerm instead of XP. I didn't make a back up disk and now I can't get it to load. Anyone come across this issue?

  • How to install Windows 8 on MSi Wind Box DC110?

I bought the DC110 without realising it is delivered without Windows 8 pre-installed. So I need to install it myself
But I have no idea how to do it!
There is no cd player in the DC110 so how can I then install Windows 8?
Maybe a very sily and stupid question but if you can help me out I am so happy

Found the solution: copy Windows 8 content dvd to an ISO (with e.g. BurnAware).
Then with WinUSB Maker write the ISO to an bootable USB flash drive.
With that Flash drive you can install Windows 8 the DC110.
    Quite simple actually

Are you able to start in Recovery mode ?.   OS X: About OS X Recovery
If so, then after the language choice screen, click Utilities at the top of the screen & choose Terminal.
Once Terminal opens, type resetpassword  then press the enter key.
Choose your user from the list & follow the prompts to create a new password. Then restart the computer normally.
This won't allow you to update app store apps which the previous owner bought, but will let you install new software.
Ideally, you'd erase the HD & reinstall OS X yourself : you may be able to do that from Internet Recovery, but may need original install DVDs,
which Apple will usually supply for a small charge, if you call them with the serial number.

  • Windows 7 and HP All in One Printers

Have you just brought a new PC with Windows 7 or upgraded from Windows Vista and now having problems with your Printer / All in One.
    1) Are you running the latest version of HP Software designed for Windows 7?
Please go to Hp.com and choose Support and Drivers
then type in your printer model number and follow the directions on the page.
    2) Do you print but nothing comes out the printer, and the job just disappears from the spooler?

This fix is about USB Connection but the method can also be used for a Network Connection too
    3) Can you scan but your Scanned files just disappear, not in the directory you thought they should be.
    The fix is available here
Cannot find scanned image or document files after scanning completes.
    4) Does HP Solution Center say that your printer is no longer installed?
The fix is only applicable for people who have upgraded from Vista to Windows 7

I would recommend readding the missing printer using Add Device from the Start, HP (Printer Device Name) Menu Item.

  • Anyone know of Scanner Plug-in for PSE 8 on Windows 7 for HP All-in-One

I'm asking on behalf of a friend, but here's the deal. She has Photoshop Elements 8 installed on a Windows 7 machine. She would like to find a plugin that will allow her to scan in photos from her Hewlett Packard All-in-One scanner directly from Photoshop Elements 8. I have searched the internet, Adobe's site and HP's site and have found plenty of hints that such a plug-in exists, but no sign of an actual, downloadable file.
    Any assistance is deeply appreciated.

I believe that the plug in which you reference relates to PSEv.9.
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/849/cpsid_84933.html
There have been reported problems scanning directly from PSEv.8 & WIN 7, esp. with HP machines. Check the HP site to see if there are updated drivers for the equipment.
If not, suggest utilizing the software that was installed with the scanner, then importing the file for enhancement in PSE.
