Re: kernel_data_inpage_error blue screen on Equium L40

does anyone know how to help solve my problem please? I get a blue screen of death randomly and then it takes around 30 mins or longer to load my laptop up properly again. It won't boot sometimes and I have to restart until in the f12 option I can see something that says 'SATA'
I have tried a system restore, uninstalling the trial of adobe illustrator I downloaded (from the official adobe website) and I have ran chkdsk, mcafee scans, malware bytes anti malware scan and they havn't found a problem. I can't use any cd,my drive hasn't worked for a while now.
I think the problem is getting worse because sometimes on the blue screen it says a process or thread has stopped working and I would still just be on my desktop not doing anything. I have had this problem for 2 weeks now which is also around the time when I got the illustrator trial, which I completely removed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have also done all of the recent updates

I have vista 32-bit and its powered by microsoft but I don't know if that is the OS, I'm not that good when it comes to something other than browsing the internet. My DVD drive is broken so it doesn't read any discs, I have backed up my files in the E: drive. Is there a way I could do the recovery thing without the DVD?
thanks for replying..I did a crash test report and got this, maybe it will give better info :

  • Blue Screen, kernel_data_inpage_error, disk drives missing on reboot

I just bought a new laptop, ASUS ROG G750JW, and installed a Mushkin Chronos 240GB SSD. I clean installed Windows 8.1 Pro on the SSD, and kept the original 750GB HDD, as well as a 500GB HDD, as secondary drives. I have been having rather random blue screens.
I had to disable auto-restart to see the error message: kernel_data_inpage_error.
The fun part is that when I soft restart after the blue screen, my hard drives are missing from the BIOS. I have to completely power down and then restart it for the HDDs to be detected. Since all 3 drives go missing, I can be rather confident that the problem
is not caused by any one of the drives (i.e. my SSD is not defective).
The problem originally occurred when I was installing Office 365 - the laptop would blue screen every time I tried starting the installation. However, each attempt would proceed a little further and eventually Office installed, so I can't use that as a reliable
test. Other occurrences have been, as far as I can tell, completely random. I was noticing that the BSOD occurred often enough during Windows Update installs, but I could not find any significant correlation when I compared my event log to my update
log. I was able to install the most recent Windows 8.1 Update released this Tuesday with no problems.
I have run diagnostics on all of my drives, which come back completely green. I have run chkdsk and sfc /scannow, none of which reported any errors. I have also run Driver Verifier according to the instructions
in this article which did catch several "0x000000c4" bug checks, which I was able to narrow down to the miniport driver.
My last action was to disable checking this driver in Driver Verifier, and I have not since experienced any problems. I have just finished running a 2+ hour long stability test using AIDA64 portable trial version, which caused no problems.
Since my drives go missing when this happens (whether as a cause or effect, I do not know), I have no memory dumps or event logs to share. I have since configured Windows to save memory dumps to my laptop, but with no reliable way to cause the blue screen,
I've been unable to capture a dump yet.
Soooo who wants to help me fix this? I've been offered warranty RMAs by both ASUS and Mushkin, but until I can reliably reproduce the error and confirm the cause, I'm not sending anything back (cause I don't know
    what to send!).

If you don't have dmps lets take a look at your event viewer logs
Please provide us with your Event Viewer administrative logs by following these steps:
    Click Start Menu
Type eventvwr into Search programs and files (do not hit enter)
Right click eventvwr.exe and click Run as administrator
    Expand Custom Views
    Click Administrative Events
    Right click Administrative Events
Save all Events in Custom View As...
Save them in a folder where you will remember which folder and save as Errors.evtx
Go to where you saved Errors.evtx
Right click Errors.evtx -> send to -> compressed (zipped) folder
Upload the .zip file to Onedrive or a file sharing service and put a link to it in your next post
If you have updated to win 8.1 and you get the error message "the system cannot find the file specified" it is a known problem.  The
work around is to edit the registry.  If you are not comfortable doing this DONT.  If you are, backup the key before you do
    Press Win+"R" and input regedit
    Navigate to:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WINEVT\Channels. Delete "Microsoft-Windows-DxpTaskRingtone/Analytic"

  • Equium A60: Blue Screen issue

I've got a Equium A60 Series (PSA667E), reconditioned. There's a blue screen apearing sometimes, when I start up, sending me a message of error. I've tried to upgrade my BIOS, as the website indicated. But a message tell me that I dont need, because its already upgraded. So, I've got the correct BIOS but my blue screen problem persist. What can I do....

    Hi
Sometimes the blue screen appears because of serious software error or a hardware malfunction (memory). Well, its not easy to say why this message occurs in you case because we dont have detailed informations. Usually the OS installation solves commonly the blue screen errors. But if there is a hardware fault so only a ASP could solve this issue.

  • Equium A60 Blue Screen after updating to XP Home SP2

I have a Toshiba Equium A60-692. I have updated to XP SP2 and now get a blue screen on start up with the message that ATI driver ATI2DVG has gone into a continuous loop. The Microsoft error report says this is due to incompatable drivers, but I have the latest driver from Toshiba.
    Anyone have any ideas?

    HI Laura,
if it is important for you to install SP2 on your notebook you should try a complete new OS.
At first save your data on an external device (CD, DVD, USB-HDD, ...) and start the Toshiba recovery CD. But pay attention all data will be lost, also other partitions!!!
After the new fresh OS is ready, update your drivers, Tools and QFEs from Toshiba HP and install it!
I the end try the SP2 installation! Then it should run!
    Bye Meier

  • Satellte L40 - After XP Setup blue screen Error

    Hi,
I browsed this forum and the net and I did not find an answer, so:
I'm downgrading from Vista to Win XP on Satellte L40 (PSL48E), I created new WinXP SP2 with nLite with the AHCI drivers,
looked ok win xp setup recognized the HDD so i deleted the vista partition I created new NTFS partition Setup copied the files
and when it restarted for the first time:
I got blue screen error STOP 0x0000007E which suggest it may be BIOS incompatibilty, a post in this forum had resolved by using XP SP2, but I'm already using Install CD with XP SP2.
Now, BIOS for the model PSL48E comes only for windows flashing. and I have no Windows on my system.
Even if I reinstall vista again and flash it with XP compatible bios I'm afraid I might loose vista compatibiliy (if XP dosn't work after all)
and it will render my system useless.
    Help please.

Here you will find a manual on how to install XP on an L40

  • Re: Equium A210-1AS - Blue screen and can't start it

My computer was working fine, i shut it down, the next time i start up it shows the windows loading screen, then for a second a blue screen flashes by, it restarts and repeats, i shut it down and started tapping F8 untill the advanced boot options comes up, safemode ect... none of them work and all lead to the blue screen, if i select the repair option at the top "Repair Your Computer" it begins to load with a vista background and cursor and then shows the error "The installed program cannot start. click OK to turn off the computer."
in Advanced Boot Options i try "Disable automatic restart on system failure" and the blue screen stays up so i can see it, it shows a usual blue screen error, reading:
    UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME
    STOP: 0X000000ED (0X85DDA600, 0XC000009C, 0X0000000, 0X0000000)
I do not have a recovery CD as i believe there is a recovery partition, but i don't know how to access this-
    I am using Equium A210-1AS
    Part Number : PSAFJE-005005KS
    Windows vista 32bit
    Thanks,
I know know the recovery partition is accessed theough "Repare your computer" but just shows "The installed program cannot start. click OK to turn off the computer." :/

    Hello
In my opinion the case is clear: If you cant start the HDDrecovery feature (btw, its not a recovery partition!!!) using Repair my Computer option, you need the Toshiba recovery disk to reinstall it and get factory settings back.
Im wondering that you dont have a recovery disk. You didnt create it? So you didnt read the user manual but this should always be done before you do something with computers.
Anyway, you can order a new recovery disk here:

  • Equium L40 - Windows wont start, message on screen

    Hi
    I have a Toshiba Equium L40 - 17M.
Recently when updating my virus protection my computer tried to restart but now wont load properly.
Now everytime i try to switch the computer on, after the initial Toshiba setup screen I am greeted with the following message in the top left corner of the screen.
    A disk read error occured
Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart.
However, this message just appears again!
    Any suggestions please!?

It could be a file system corruption problem, in which case you can connect the HDD to another PC and run CHKDSK on the drive.
If that's no help, then check the HDD for bad sectors using the Advanced Test in Hitachi DFT (Google is your friend)
Or you can try running Recovery from your Recovery Discs. This will format the HDD, so you will need to backup your data first if its still there (you can use a USB 2.5" HDD Adapter).
If you really need your data back, there are Data Recovery programs you can download to search the HDD for the lost files.

  • Equium M37-337 keeps crashing and blue screen list the fault as - igxprd32

    Hi,
The laptop model number is Equium M37-337 PSM77E-00L00MAV
from looking through the web I see this is a graphics issue.
When starting the laptop it will go int Windows and then crash with a blue screen listing the above. This lasts only about half a second and then machine just goes to a black screen and nothing else.
I am able to turn the laptop off by holding down the power button for several seconds. When I try and restart it returns to the black screen state.
If I leave the laptop off for somre time (say 30 minutes) it reverts back to the startup to the Windows and then bluescreen black screen sequence.
I have tried booting to windows safe mode but a similar crash occurs (although sometimes this is just the machine locking up with some thin black lines across the display.
Is the on board graphics 'card' broken? Is this a common problem with this model? Is this economically fixable?
    Thanks
    Chris

    Hi,
What I would recommend doing first would be to do a product recovery on the machine. Baring in mind that any data you have on the notebook will be lost by doing this; it is imperitave you back up your data first before going ahead with that.
The reason I am saying you should do that first is if the repair do see this as a software issue, and should you have any extended warranties on the notebook, you would be charged (although this may be the case anyway). Also, baring in mind that if the product recovery does solve the problem then you could save yourself a whole lot of time with waiting for repairs.
As far as I am aware there is no known issues with this machine where the graphics are concerned, and it's not something I have heard of with that model. As far as the repair being economical, I would first have a quote on the laptop. I know that would cost ?£35 but if the repair cost is within your budget and cheaper than a new unit then that'll be better for you.
Unfortunately there is no way of finding out what the cost of the repair will be, as the repairs are done at a specalist repair centre, which is far from here. You'll have to have that sent in first for a quote before you'll know.
    I hope that helps,
    Regards,
    Nukey

  • Equium A60 Laptop crashes/blue screen when LAN Cable is in?

    Hi all,
I have a Toshiba Equium A60 Laptop now for under a year.
    I am running WinXp Sp2
Yesterday, my laptop started to crash flashing a blue screen (No time to see what it says as computer Restarts too quickly).
I found that it only seems to crash when the LAN Cable is plugged ine.g. If I start the Laptop it will start-up as usual but when it starts to communicate with the network/router (as I can see by watching the little blue Screens in the Task Bar Bottom right) it Crashes. Ive tried a different port on the router but no luck.
My Network card is: Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC
It runs ok in Safe mode and doesnt crash.
I updated the Driver but and it still does the same.
I then decided to restore my Laptop back to Day One/Factory Default via the Toshiba Recovery DVD.
When restored it worked fine all day (had internet access via the network) until I clicked: Set up a home or small office network in the control panel. It crashed again the same way. Now it will continually crash as above.
Could this be a problem with my cable?
    Please help..Any ideas?
    Thanks loads,
    Shay

    Hi Shay,
The blue screen of death (BSoD) can be a particularly annoying problem because it can be very tricky to trace the source of the crashes.
Read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_screen_of_death for some more information on it.
    Common causes are ...
    - faulty hardware (could be the network card, or ram, or hard drive)
    - bad device drivers
    - overheating
    - corrupted software/operating system
As you said that you've used the recovery DVD and the problem still persists, this says to me that it is a hardware issue (as long as image loaded on with no errors and DVD is in good condition).
Easy things you could try are ...
    - changing the network cable (unlikely the problem but always worth a try)
    - checking the network card port for debris/damage
    - reseat the ram/hard drive
    - load on an operating system from scratch, if you have it (not using recovery DVD)
If none of these work and the laptop is under warranty, get the motherboard/network card replaced.
If not under warranty, try the debugging tool for Windows ... http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/devtools/debugging/default.mspx
    Good luck!

  • Blue Screen Error on Equium A100-549

    Hi,
I took home a laptop that faced a blue screen error whenever it was starting up. I was provided with the essential components and did a format using the recovery CD. Once it was complete, I took out the recovery CD as instructed then clicked exit. The black window said format complete and the PC switched off. When I try turn it on an orange light flashes on one of the LEDs and the PC doesn't switch on. Most of the text was in Chinese while it was working too (the owner's Chinese). I would appreciate some assistance.
    Thank you very much.

    Hi
According to your description I suppose that the LED flashes all the time if the AC adaptor was connected. Am I right?
I think there is a hardware malfunction and the LED provide an blinking code.
Unfortunately, I dont think that you can solve this problem by yourself.
In my opinion a technician should check the notebook. The service guys are able to read the code and could locate the fault.

  • Equium A100-549: Blue Screen error during Recovery CD installation

    Hey,
I recently purchased a Toshiba laptop, everything worked perfectly until my laptop was attacked. I got rid of the virus and went to reformat due to lots of problems occurring. The main one being a error has accursed and "Blah Blah" program needs to close. Also i kept getting loads of errors.
    http://aumha.org/win5/kbestop.htm
    Them types.
Now then the Toshiba reformatting disk said simply put the disk into the CD drive and turn off. I did this, great. The toshiba disk said press F12 upon starting and click run the CD. The CD fires up and gets half way thro reformatting.
I suddenly get a blue screen error. I thought oh well ill reboot and carry on. This is where the problem started. Because i was half way thro deleting/reinstalling windows i was missing some files. I go to reinstall or try to use the Toshiba CD I get a blue screen error.

Requested data was not in memory. An invalid system memory address was referenced. Defective memory (including main memory, L2 RAM cache, video RAM) or incompatible software (including remote control and antivirus software) might cause this Stop message, as may other hardware problems (e.g., incorrect SCSI termination or a flawed PCI card).
Any ideas what i can do? I don't want to send the laptop back to Toshiba to fix however im thinking this is the only way out.
Please if repplying try to keep technical lanuage to a minnium. Many thanks, Dan.

    Hi
Its very strange because the installation from the Toshiba recovery CD should works properly and without any Blue screen messages.
Usually if the BSOD appears if there is a serious software problem or something wrong with the hardware.
I dont think that the software on the recovery CD could be corrupt.
Did you try to install the OS from original Microsoft Windows CD? It would be very interesting to know if the blue screen will also appear.
However, I think your notebook is new and the warranty is valid. In my opinion you should ask the Toshiba service partner for the help because the guys could start the diagnostic test and could locate the fault.

  • HP Pavilion Blue Screen

    Hi,
I need help for my HP Pavilion Notebook.
The Model Details are as below:
    Model:dv4-1551dx
    OS: WIndows 7 64 Bit
Place of Purchase: Best Buy at Torrance ,California
    My Problem:
I am getting a Blue Screen Shut down with KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR.
I have run the CHKDSK Repair, it ran for 12 hours and replaced a number of bad sectors. Then I ran the HDD Self test and got error that "Hard Disk Test Failed" and no reason code. I have gone through the forum and found that the experts always suggested to replace the Hard Disk. Can any of the experts can kindly help me with the following:
1.Do I need to replace the Hard Disk
2.If it is Yes, then how can I restore the system?
3.If I need to have the Restore Disk, unfortunaltely I do not have that. I am presently staying in Munich Germany. Can I order one for my Computer and Germany. I tried in the HP Deutschland website and it could not find my model number.
4.Is there any other way to get past the Blue Screen Error?
I will really appreciate your help in this regards.
    Thanks a bunch in advance.

    Straciatella,
Here is a document that will show you how to create your own disk. You can use either blank DVD’s or a USB flash drive.
Here is a document that shows how to restore the system, I wouldn’t recommend this, mainly because you will have to replace the hard drive eventually.
Please respond back at your earliest convenience.
    Thanks

  • Blue Screen on RESUME on HP Vision All-in-One PC

Hi. For the past week or so my All-in-One PC has been crashing with a Blue Screen whenever it comes out of hibernation. It doesn't seem to matter if it went into hibernate on its own, or through the Start -> Sleep action. The blue screen usually points to a page fault error KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR.
I've restored my system in an attempt to fix it. It did, for awhile, but earlier today it started up again.
Some web searching has made me suspect that this is a manifestation of issues with the Microsoft fix KB2670838 . Other users have reported blue screens after installing it (usually as a prerequisite to IE 10), though I haven't seem reports of it happening after a resume, as it is for me.
Have others hit this kind of issue? Any suggestions on resolving it?
I'm planning to uninstall this fix, to see if it helps. I'll report back.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

I've isolated the patch that  triggers the blue screen to this one:
AMD - Other hardware, Storage Controller - AMD SATA Controller
It's not a Microsoft patch, so there's no KB number, nor can it be uninstalled; you need to restore a previous configuration to correct the problem. However, restoring does work (I've done it three times now). When it's in place I get this blue screen coming out of Resume:

  • Blue Screen of Death Problem

Hi, I have a Toshiba Satellite L455D-S5976 with Windows 7 Home Premium and a 32-bit operating system. I've been having problems with getting BSODs for well over a month now (I was out of town for most of it), sometimes within a couple minutes of restarting it. It has even occurred in safe mode, and after I tried a system restore. I downloaded Blue Screen View to see if I could find what the problem was, and I got different results for various crashes. It says that the first one was on 03/26/14, which I don't really remember, and the next ones were on 05/09/14 and 05/10/14, before I had to leave, and upon returning, it began happening everyday. The most common file is easily ntkrnlpa.exe, which seems to be present in almost all the crashes, though there are several other files. I understand that I probably need to update or replace those drivers somehow, but I don't know anything about replacing or updating plugins. Can anyone provide any help?

I suspect hardware trouble. Test the memory. Arrange for the test to run for several hours.
