Re: Keyboard issue with A10-112

I have recieved my Tecra A10-112 laptop today and the first thing I noticed is that the keys 'L', 'R', and 'Y' makes very annoying loud click sound everytime they are pressed.
Is there any quick fix to this?

No, the post about the screen leakage was never published.
>It looks like you don't know that Toshiba delivers different notebooks in different countries and every series can supports different specifications.
>So maybe this A10-112 is not delivered in UK but in other countries. I'm sure that other A10 with similar spec can be purchased in UK too.
Actually I knew that :-) it really hurt when friend of yours reported his A10 had a web cam but the UK versions don't. In currency exchange UK nationals pay the highest for Toshiba laptops, don't they?
>You ask for my experience with A10? Sorry I'm not owner of A10 but a friend of mine bought this notebook and he asked me for configuration.
>So I know that this is a really good notebook for the business market with new features
As I said the one I recieved had three unacceptable faults and I never claimed A10 is not a business laptop. I wonder where you and your friend getting this impression from.
>As I said already; I respect your opinion because everyone can be of different opinions but don't forget to be objective.
Isn't this objective enough that I paid over £850 for a product that was faulty and had poor build quality?
>If there is a hardware problem with your keyboard, ask for the replacement!
Off it goes two weeks of my time waiting for the replacement. I have already arranged the product to be returned and I will be happy not to buy Toshiba's products for as long as I live.

  • Logitech Keyboard Issues with Fast User Switching

I'm running OSX 10.4 on an 800 MHz iMac, and using a Logitech Cordless Navigator keyboard. The keyboard's main feature (for me) is the ability to have the function keys (F1-F12) automatically open applications and folders and such. When I have multiple accounts running though, this feature seems to be tied to whichever one I first logged into. If I switch accounts and try to use one of the keyboard shortcuts nothing happens where I am, but when I switch back to the original account I find that the keyboard has opened the program there. The keyboard types fine in the new account, and I can even change the preferences so the function keys do different things in the different accounts, but the extra functionality seems to be only available for whichever account logs in first.
I realize this may just be a Logitech bug, but any ideas how to fix this? (Also even though I'm the only one using my computer this seems like a mild security issue, if theoretically another user could activate programs on my account without the password.)

    Logitech support is frustrating:
    Dear tajmahall14,
Thank you for your recent inquiry about your Keyboards.
I understand you are having issues with the settings for the function keys becoming non-functional when fast switching from one user account to another.
Depending on the system configuration, the Fast User Switching may or may not work. Unfortunately this is not an issue I can address. You may need to contact Apple to see if they have a possible solution to your problem.

  • Keyboard issue with cursor jumping to point on the page when typing

When I type on my notebook keyboard (HP Pavilion dv6-6167cl) it frequently jumps somewhere else in the area where I previously typed causing me to stop and correct what it did and move back to where I intended to type.  I have the latest driver for my Synaptics Touchpad driver already.  Any idea why this happens.  This is my second laptop, different manufacturers where I've had this same problem so I'm beginning to think it's a common issue with notebooks.  Any suggestions?  Thanks.

    tdunnusa,
It may be inherent to the way in which you use the devices (keyboard and Touch/ClickPad).  Maybe not ... the drivers are not perfect.  We can all attest to adventures with Clickpad mystery entries..
Depending on the level of touch sensitivity (located under Pointing)
AND the level in the PalmCheck-Enhanced ACM setting, things can get a bit weird;  even touching the surface lightly can set the mouse cursor off course.
    Consider / try the following:
In your Synaptics Settings > Properties,
    Open the Pointing section,
Click on Sensitivity (to highlight) >> click on Spikey blue wheel (Sensitivity settings) >
Set the sensitivity level way over to the right side (Less sensitive)
    Apply
    Next:
Click to Open PalmCheck-Enhanced ACM  >> click on Spikey blue wheel (settings)
Slide the PalmCheck over to the RIGHT to Max
    Apply
Youcan adjust the Advanced filter zone - that is, control where  you can use the TouchPad for certain gestures and how long it takes for the zone to activate.   This can help for particular kinds of gestures, though it won't help for accidentally contact like brushing the surface with the palm of your hand.
These settings, when set to maximum, are likely too extreme - they may give you an idea whether the issue is related to how you are using the TouchPad.

  • Hindi Keyboard Issue with iOS 8.0.2

    I have iPhone 5
    iOS Version : 8.0.2
Are there any issues with some of the hindi letters in iOS 8.0.2? Some of the half letters are not coming/showing up while typing which used to show up before (On the versions before iOS 8). For example, if I want to type "kya" , the half letter "k" isn't showing up automatically. I believe, some letters are missing from the keypad, like the one which comes in "trishool" , it's "tri".
Please let me know if anyone else is encountering the same problem. This iOS 8 & above has lot of issues.

    Adarsh123 wrote:

I assume you can still make the half letter k in the standard way by using the virama key, right?
Are you saying that the autocorrect system is not giving you the half letter k automatically when you just type ky without the virama?  It does work for me OK in 8.0.  You might try resetting the keyboard dictionary.
Could you type here the tri you can't make.  I don't think anything is missing from the keyboard, but possible autocorrect and font bugs are another matter.

  • Mouse/Keyboard issues with Mountain Lion

Has anyone had issues with mouse and keyboard functionality with Mountain Lion?  I have two iMacs and a Mac Book Pro, but this iMac is the only one I'm having trouble with.  First, ML somehow prompted Razer Nostromo drivers to stop functioning(just for macros).  I just figured I had to wait until an update was released(which btw hasn't happened yet )  However, I also use the Razer Naga and I don't believe that the Naga is the culprit, but I could be wrong.  For the past week or so when I single click, it registers as as a double-click.  It is SO annoying.  Has anyone experienced this?  I have gone over all mouse and accessibility settings and nothing helps.  I have downloaded the updated drivers and nothing works.
Thanks in advance for all responses,
    Ashley

I didn't think of doing that, but I tried it and the problem does not occur when the right mouse button is primary.  However, when I switched it back to make the left button primary, the problem returned.  Would this indicate that it is a hardware problem or could it implicate the drivers as well?  I suppose the mouse would make sense since I do not use this mouse on my other two items with Mac OS X.  What do you think?
    Thanks,

  • Strange keyboard issues with my 2012 Macbook Air...

    Hey guys,
I've been using my brand new macbook air for the last 2 weeks or so without any issues. Today I took my laptop out of my bag after work and noticed that things on the keyboard have been really weird. For starters, certain keys on the right side of the board are not giving me the correct symbols when I press them. There are a few other random keys (mostly the numbers and symbols) that are incorrect.
ie: I press shift+2 for the @ but I get ' instead or I press ] and get @ instead.
Another weird thing to note: Caps lock turned on = lower case letters and Caps lock turned off = upper case letters.
I left my laptop alone for a few hours and when I came back to it later, whenever I turn it on it automatically boots into safe mode which makes me assume that the shift key is stuck in some weird way.
    What can be causing this?

I have about the exact same problem, my macbook air 13 in (bought january this year in Belgium) is having the same issues, first (i'm on an azerty keyboard - first the following keys stopped working ; . : / and a week a half after that almost the whole keyboard gave up, symptoms
lowercase c reacts like the enter key
    lowercase v types ^V
the whole row of keys from a tot Z don't work or produce garabage like ´^VVVVV1111111111
numerical keys work, but using shift together does not
If I attach an external keyboard, then the same key mismappings or whatever happening here, are also on the external keyboard, so I can't even login with an external keyboard
Sounds like hardware failure, but no idea why, my macbook is in top condition, no spills, no high humidty, really nothing whatsoever
If any one would have a clue prior to bringing it to mac store?
All defaults already done (smc - pram reset), reboot to recovery terminal there same problem with internal and external keyboard, boot from usb etc etc
For me really really really dissappointing, bought the top model macbook air with all upgrades available, as a stable working laptop for business use (for which I payed premium for a premium device) , but stuff like this happens on cheap windows consumer laptops, not on a macbook air
I have about everything over here, 2 Iphones, 3 Ipad's, an Imac, a MacPro, a Macbook Pro, each and every one of the durable and decent devices but this macbook air has been nothing to be excited about untill now, lots of blowing fans all the time, run's quite hot, the touchpad having it's on will
Always been a very loyal Apple customer as the list of Mac devices above shows, but things like this make me reconsider
    Best Regards
    Nico

  • Keyboard issues with IOS 8.02 and iPad Air

Does anybody know how to fix the following issue...
When using iOS8.02 spotlight search on my iPad Air in Landscape mode
the keyboard (Apple keyboard, not 3rd party) stays on the side of the screen.
Spotlight search is in landscape mode...but the keyboard is in Portrait mode
Never happened with IOS7...Started in IOS8...not fixed in 8.02
I can temporarily fix it by rebooting the Ipad...but it just happens again and again
The keyboard works when like this...but it is just sideways
I have not installed any 3rd party keyboards, I have only ever use the Apple keyboard

    additional info:
3 apps had updated before this bug started:
    ------- 500px (fixed layout problems),
------- Google (some Now card issues&iphone6plus bugs),
    ------- Google+ (voiceover crash)
deleted the three WHICH IMMEDIATELY FIXED THE BUG!!!
then reloaded one at a time and tested -- the bug has not returned,  as of yet ...
suggest looking in Apps\Updates and see which apps have updated since the bug appeared ... delete them and reload them.

  • Wired Keyboard issues with Flash / general slowness with LION

So I upgraded to Lion about a month or so ago.  All has not been great.  I am running a 2009 Dual Core Intel iMac with 3 GB ram.  One thing I notice is that initially certain flash support was NOT supported (mainly web cam support through flash on web sites).  So web sites offering chat clients with cam support as an example - the performance would lag badly where typing messages would skip letters and leave nothing but garble.  I attempted to try different browsers, but found the results to be disappointing:
Safari:  Web cam support through web sites was simply broken - even manually trying to alter adobe settings would not get you any further
Firefox 5:  You had to set permissions for web cam support prior to launching a web site as flash settings to enable / disable it within the web site were simply not useable
Chrome:  Settings worked, but the performance was so slow, if using a web chat client and a web cam at the same time, it was almost impossible to type proper words unless you typed a character a minute.
I realize there has been a Lion update recently (a few weeks ago) and after the update, most of these issues seemed to be fixed.  But then, Adobe came out with a FLASH update and now performance is lagging once again to the point where web cam and chat is almost not useable.
Is there anything that can be done to work around this issue?

Please read teh directions for an SMC reset:
    SMC RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and all peripherals.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    Release the power button.
    Attach the computers power cable.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
    PRAM RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.

  • Keyboard issues with Software

I have installed Archicad v10 (by Graphisoft) on my Powerbook and desktop G5. The CADD software utilizes the SHIFT, OPTION and APPLE keys quite a bit for drafting functions and keyboard shortcuts. These keyes work fine on my desktop (using Max OS 10.4.8) but do not function on my Powerbook. They have identical Keyboard System Prefs and Software Defaults. Older versions of the Cadd software do work correctly. I have posted this same issue on the Graphisoft discussions page to try to get help in correcting this problem which no one else seems to have. Any suggestions as to what I can do to get these keyes to work correctly would be greatly appreciated.

Not answered. I did end up making a new user account and the keyboard short cuts worked in the new account.

I have read your post on how you are looking to disable / limit the new tile screen in favor of the start menu. When you are referring to "miniatures", are you talking about the apps on the tile screen? Has your mother's laptop installed the most recent important Windows updates?
In regards to minimizing the "Metro" UI on your Windows 8.1 computer, I recommend taking a look at this document on How to keep the Windows 8.1 Modern UI out of your way. This should help to utilize the desktop more than the tile menu on your mother's computer.

  • Keyboard issue with '~' (stays alive)

    hi there,
    (with X)
except for the '~' everything s' working fine with my keyboard. Unfortunaly, whenever I press ALT-GR and '+'  the '~' appears immediately. Well, of course I have not set 'nodeadkeys':
    $ cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-keyboard.conf
    Section "InputClass"
    Identifier "keyboard"
    MatchIsKeyboard "yes"
    Option "XkbModel" "latitude"
    Option "XkbLayout" "de"
    Option "XkbOptions" ""
    EndSection
I also tried playing with a few 'XkbOptions' and everything s' just working fine. ^ ´` the all behave the way they should - except for '~'.
^ needs two hits, ~ just one. hmpf.
Oh, without running X, means typing in tty typing AltGr + does nothing (well, in there i don't need ~, although it would be useful sometimes)
    $ cat /etc/vconsole.conf
    KEYMAP=de-latin1
    FONT=Lat2-Terminus16
Anybody has an idea how to fix that? Is there maybe another file that's supposed to change?
    Thanks
    pschyrum

What DE are you using? AFAIK, e.g. Gnome doesn't use X.Org configuration files... you have to set your language and keyboard the other way, e.g. via GUI; options can be added by dconf-editor and there is also some bug with keyboard layout while not using GDM to log in... all that and more at https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/GNOME - search for "keyboard" keyword and will find all you need. Same with other mayor DEs, like KDE, I believe.
Edit: AltGr++ should work on tty too; I've missed that part of your post, sorry. So it's not DE-related after all...

  • Minor keyboard issue with new 15" MBP - will genius bar help me?

I bought a new 15" 2.67GHz MacBook Pro last Thursday and I noticed that the F11 key is slightly crooked and not level. I am certain there was no abuse to the computer, it's like my baby and I know nothing happened to it. If I take it to a Genius Bar, would they help me out? It doesn't really bother me all too much and the key works fine, but I'm just pi--ed that I spent over $2500 on a computer and the buttons aren't on perfectly. I would have taken it in right away but I bought it Thursday night right before they closed and I left for vacation the next morning. I will not be back until August 9 and I am concerned that if I wait that long, they will not believe me that it was like this when I bought it and will think that I did this. Do you think they would help me? How should I proceed?
    Thanks!
    Mike

Take it back. They will replace the key or keyboard, if needed.

  • MacBook Pro 10.4.11 keyboard issue (beaten path??)

When my MacBook Pro starts up or wakes up, some keys, specifically q,w,e,r,t,y,u,i,o, and the left Shift key, don't respond. The duration of the problem is quite unpredictable; a few minutes to maybe up to 30 minutes. If I wait long enough they become responsive eventually. When I bought it in 2007 I didn't have this problem. I think it started ~1 year after the purchase.
From googling I found out that many MacBook Pro owners were having similar problems. These are mostly with version 10.5 and many people seem to agree that this is a Leopard-specific issue, but I've also seen a few people complaining about similar keyboard issues with 10.4. I also found out that Apple released some sort of a keyboard software update to fix these problems. However, that update requires 10.5, and mine is 10.4.11.
This week I finally took my computer to the Apple store and showed it to a 'Genius'. He said he was not familiar with this problem, and when I mentioned the keyboard software update, he hooked up some sort of cable and ran 10.5 on my computer, but the computer in that state didn't find any keyboard updates (at least that's how I understood his explanation). Therefore, he concluded that this is a hardware problem and that the machine needs a repair.
Now, I don't question the Genius' superior knowledge to mine, but I still can not believe it's not a software problem. If it is hardware problem, how come it occurs always/only after the computer wakes up? Is it coincidence that the symptom is so similar to the known software problem?

I'm having a similar problem although I am not trying to upgrade my version. Certain keys don't work on the built-in keyboard: delete, space bar, caps lock, quotes-apostrophe key...I have to use the "keyboard viewer" to use these particular keys. My adapter is connected to the computer, but the problem persists.
Can anyone please suggest troubleshooting for this annoying problem? It has been like this for about 2 weeks now.
    Any suggestions will be appreciated!
