Re linking Cinema 4D
Hey there -
Is seems re - linking is different for every outside software (PS, Ai and so on),
and so I'd like to ask you how to re link my C4D file with my AE project...
I've begun working on a AE project using some 3D elements and the Maxon link, and it was easy, intuitive and simply great.
After saving my progress and trying to open up the project once again, I'm at a loss as to how to re - link...
Thanks!
I'll try and be clearer:
I've created a project and uses the Maxon exporter to create a 3D element.
Once this was done, any change I've made to the C4D project was (obviously) updated in the AE project.
BUT
After saving, quitting and then re opening the project, this does not work.
I open both AE and C4D relevant projects, but changing in C4D is no longer reflected in AE.
Thanks

CSS being crazy...
Hello. I created the following site, which looks exactly how
it should in IE (tried two different versions):
http://www.troma.com/IFTA/index.php
In Firefox and Safari, however, it looks totally wrong (and
looks the same in both of those browsers). The site is very light
on HTML, and built mostly with CSS (but still very simple CSS,
since I'm a novice in that department, so I can't imagine it would
screw things up that much!)...
Specifically, here's the inconsistencies:
* The main navigation on the left should look like a
filmstrip. I can either get it displaying properly on IE or on
Firefox, but not both. In the current iteration of the site, I have
the first navigation link ("Cinema") set to look properly in
Firefox (shifted to the right in IE), and I have the rest of the
navigation links set to look properly in IE (shifted to the left in
Firefox).
* On IE, the main text displays fine. On Firefox, there is a
HUGE gap between the top paragraph and where the bulleted text
starts. If I get rid of the "clear: both" on the "ul" tag, that
fixes it on Firefox, but on IE, the bullets don't start underneath
the picture. They start to the right of the picture.
Here is a link to a zip of the site files (just one index
page, the images folder, and one css style sheet). The whole thing
is under 150kb, so it's VERY small. If anyone could take a look at
this and let me know how I could fix it, it'd be GREATLY
appreciated! Thanks!!!

EDITED!!! - I think I fixed the site. If anyone wouldn't mind
checking it and letting me know if it's displaying properly for
you, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks! It looks identical in Firefox and IE6. Can you say what is
the problem...
"looks totally wrong" doesn't say a lot (o:

30'' Cinema Display with mini-display-port to dual link DVI adapter usb hub
Hi all, I don't know if any one of you experience this issue and can help me.
I am using an unibody macbook pro (late2008 model) to connect to a 30'' cinema display via the famous $100 mini diaplay port to dual link DVI adapter. I have connected the usb cable from the ACD to the adapter and the usb cable of the adapter to my macbook pro. This setting works fine under OSX 10.5.7.
When I am using Windows Vista under bootcamp the USB hub on the back of the ACD doesn't work. The device manager of Vista shows an excalmatory mark besides the device "Generic usb hub"; and it reports a problem of "the device cannot be started".
I doubted this problem is due to Windows cannot recognise the $100 adapter as a "generic usb hub"; and apple has not release a driver for this $100 adapter for windows.
Since my MBP only has 2 usb ports and the $100 adapter already occupied one, it would be very much helpful if the usb hub of the ACD can work just like in OSX. Can anyone think of any suggestion?
Much appreciated for reading this post and thank you.i don't have an answer for you, but i feel your pain. very frustrating when this happens with Apple products and Vista/Bootcamp. wish they were more compatible, for it would make things so much easier for the consumer.

Problem w/New MacbookPro, Cinema 30, Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adap
Hi, I have a new MacBook Pro with Miniport connected to a Cinema 30 using the Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter. I upgraded from the previous version of the Macbook Pro w/built-in DVI and never had a problem.
From the moment I started using this new miniport adapter with the Cinema 30, I noticed intermittent graphic anomalies. Most of the time, discolored lines will start rapidly popping in and out across the screen - especially noticeable with dark backgrounds. Here are a couple of quick videos that visualize the problem.
Video 1 - http://is.gd/krM6
Video 2 - http://is.gd/krLT
I'm also experiencing issues with the cursor randomly jumping across the screen.
It's isolated to the 30 cinema and the adapter. The Macbook Pro works fine when connected tot he new 24" LED Cinema.
Any advice on what to do? Is it a faulty adapter? Is there a SW/Firmware upgrade?
Thank you!

Message was edited by: bsolisI'm having the exact same problem. Have you called Apple and if so, what did they say? I read in a magazine that you can switch to the NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT graphics processor some how with in our computer. I don't know how or if this may solve the problem.

Mini Displayport to Dual-Link DVI Issues on 30" Cinema Display
I know this problem has been around for a while, and that there are several other discussion on it, but my goal here is to point out that even in mid-2011, this issue remains.
Here's my configuration:
30" Cinema Display
Dual-link MDP to DVI adapter with 1.03 firmware (purchased August 2011 from an Apple Store)
New-ish MacBook Pro (purchased December 2010) with Mini Displayport
Symptoms:
On dark areas of the screen, DVI noise appears (horizontal flickers of light coming and going at random)
Attempted Fixes:
Unplugging the display and plugging it back in to the computer (failed)
Restarting the computer (failed)
Tightening the connections on the Dual-Link DVI adapter (failed)
Sleeping the display and awaking it (failed)
Some suggest getting a new 27" Cinema Display with native Mini Displayport/Thunderbolt support. I actually have one, but I cannot tolerate the glare on the glossy displays, so I'm "downgrading" to a 30" Cinema Display.
Is there any remaining hope for this issue?I still cannot understand why you would return everything... Ultimately you want this computer right? Once the bugs on the adapter are fixed are you gonna go back and re-buy it?
Seems like a lot of time spent out of spite and not for good reason. Me, this is the best Mac I've ever owned (and I've owned many. no, really.) and I'm happy to wait for this adapter w/ this machine in stead of going back to my other box.
I observed a similar client of mine w/ an iPhone... after the first week, he didn't like the keyboard and a few other things, so he took it back and went back to using his Blackberry -only to dump the Blackberry again for the iPhone, because he realized that the iPhone still did more things better than the Blackberry.

I can't download movies. I'm taking a cinema class where I am required to watch movies. My professor provides the link on an electronic blackboard for the movies. I can't access the link on my mac pro notebook. Is there an app or software download that can help with this? I can access the link fine on a pc.
The "right click" is a function of the OS and those keyboard commands do not work on the iPad at all with the built in virtual keyboard. I don't use an external keyboard - so I cannot attest to the possibility of that working - but there are no keyboard shortcuts with the iPad keyboard.

New D-Link router won't connect to DirecTV cinema kit
Just got & installed a new D-link DSL 2750B yesterday. I set it up with my existing SSID & WPA passcode -- all my devices work perfectly, EXCEPT my DirecTV cinema kit which is a wireless receiver. IT was fine until the new setup. I spent ( so far ) over 5 hours trying to set this up. The DirecTV techs ( 2 ) I spoke with don't have a clue. I reset everything multiple times to no avail. The DirecTV forums list several resetting steps, all of which i tried. Nothing. If anyone has any clue as to what i can try, I'd certainly appreciate the help. The router didn't come with any manual and I'm not too comfortable changing any settings other than the security mode ( WPA, etc ) without some guidance. Thanks in advance.
Bottom Line: If you have a Dlink DSL2750b from Verizon and are trying to install DirectTV cinema connection STOP RIGHT NOW and save youself the five hours I just spent learning that the two are simply incompatible.
For some reason no one at DirecTV knew this and put me though endless paces to no avail, including a change to my router password that now means I have to reconnect all of my devices.
Once I learned in DirectTV forums that this Dlink modem router is incompatible with DirectTV I called Verizon and the tech agent said, "Oh yes that one is incompatible with DirecTV." And he cheerfully ordered a free replacement, the Actiontec GT784WNV, which I haven't gotten yet but was promised it will be fine.
Two Questions:
1) For DirecTV, why in the world isn't this a known issue for your tech team so that they don't have to belabor consumers with hours of troubleshooting that does no good.
2) Most importantly, for Verizon, why in the world do you even send out a modem that isn't compatible with the growing use of internet connection equipment for TVs? Or at least tell us before we order them. -
what is the best way to link macbookpro to harman kardon 5.1 home cinema set to be able to play music from my iTunes lib.?
Orca Sn10 wrote:
Thanks for your help. How do I do it with the iTunes on the PC. All my music is on an external hard drive and not in iTunes
Thanks in advance
Nick
Nick,
You will need a Windows PC with iTunes running and a working copy of Windows Media Player available on the machine. (iTunes calls WMP for the conversion from WMA). Then just drag the WMA file(s) into the iTunes Music window.
iTunes will detect it and give you the dialog shown below, to which you choose "Convert." iTunes will create a new version in the format/bitrate set in your Import preferences (MP3 in my example below), and immediately add it to your iTunes library.
The WMA original will be left in place, so you can delete it if you have no other need for it. -
Connect D-Link 2750B wirelessly to DirecTV cinema kit
I am a new Verizon HSI customer (FIOS not available yet), packaged with DirecTV. I am trying to create the wireless connection between the D-Link 2750B and DirecTV cinema. Laptops, tablets, cell phones all connected to the DLink with no problems.
I am getting a password validation error when trying to connect the DirecTV cinema to the D-Link. **NOTE** My SSID and my password DO NOT contain any special characters or spaces. That is not the problem. I have spent time with customer support from Verizon and DirecTV with no solution so far. And again, laptops, tablets, phones and printers all connect wirelessly fine.
I am using method 2 set up for a whole house DVR. I have seen where other people have had the same issue with communication between the two, but no solution. Can someone please help?I have been trying for the past 3 Saturdays. Even had a new router sent from Verizon. Have been back and forth between Verizon and DirecTV without any solution. DirecTV said there IS an internet connection that the problem is in the router. Has anyone found the solution? Am ready to switch back to another service.

Plugging USB from cinema display to dual-link DVI adapter shuts-off adapter
i have a macbookpro and 30" cinema display. i had been using the $100 minidisplayport-to-duallinkDVI adapter to connect my monitor but now whenever i plug the USB from the monitor into the adapter (to use the monitor as a USB hub) it kills the power to the monitor! does anyone know what the problem is here? it seems to have gotten worse and worse over time and now i cannot ever get it to work no matter how many times i replug things... causing my studio to be quite disconnected. does anyone have any information on this issue?
There just so much power that can be delivered to the usb buss. You probably need a powered usb hub.

Cinema 30" - What is the Dual Link DVI Cable Length?
Planning my install, but can't find out how long the DVI cable is in length on the 30" Cinema display.
Anyone know or can measure their cable?
Thanks!
DaveCable is 2m. Not sure what the +/- tolerance is, but figure 5cm. And the breakout ends for USB, etc. are a little bit longer, just enough to allow them to reach their mating ports on a system.

Cinema display 30" no longer recognized by my mac pro. Until now it worked without problems, then after a crash it fails to recognize the display.
Now it runs in a far lower resolution. What can I do?
I tried to get da driver for it, but could not find any.Try the other DVI port on the graphics card. On early Mac Pros, only one port is the dual-link DVI needed for full resolution on the 30" display. Make sure the display's USB cable is plugged into the computer.

Mid-2012 MBP with 27" Cinema Display SCREEN GOES BLACK WHEN USING USB PERIPHERALS IN DOCK
I haven't been able to find any straightforward answer as to why this is happening and it's becoming one of the most infuriating things in my life, impeding my workflow and costing me unmeasurable time in waiting, rebooting, screwing with cables, etc.
I use my MBP as a DAW for multitracking live audio events to ProTools through a digital console where I work. Here's my gear list that I use every day:
Mid-2012 MBP - Yosemite, 8GB, i7 quad 2.5, mechanical hd
HengeDocks dock for my exact model machine - has set-screw jacks for CinemaDisplay power, Tbolt, FW800, USB, USB, SDcard, headphones, etc
USB wired keyboard
Anker 1x4 USB3.0 hub - I have a TimeMachine 1TB drive, 3TB project backup drive, audio interface and MIDI I/O or PT iLok, depending what I'm working on
Magic Mouse (BlueTooth)
Here's what's happening:
SCENARIO 1 - I insert the CinemaDisplay (cD) power connector and TBolt plugs into the dock, tighten the set screws, close the lid of my MBP (already logged into Yosemite & linked with MagicMouse [mM]) and stick the MBP into the dock... everything comes up on the cD and I can go about my day. At this point, I can plug the USB hub into the back of the cD and the system sees the hub & all peripherals listed just fine.
SCENARIO 2 - Install cD powercon, TBolt connector, USB3 hub, USB keyboard into the dock, close the lid on MBP (again, logged in), insert into dock... cD comes up, looks great for about 15 seconds then goes completely blank. No response from key presses, mouse clicks, threats with a hammer, etc. Then, of course, I have to yank the MBP out of the dock, which hard-disconnects the external drives (backup and TimeMachine... good for them, right?) and causes the MBP to flake, thinking it's still in the dock, then not, then logging me out & requiring a password (not a big deal- I deal with copyrighted stuff, so passwords aren't the issue).
***EVEN IF I DO NOT PLUG THE USB3 HUB INTO THE HENGE DOCK, THE cD STILL GOES BLANK AFTER 15 SEC... IT ONLY SEEMS TO LIKE THE TBOLT AND POWER... NO OTHER PERIPHERALS (fw800, USB, etc)***
It seems like the MBP freaks out when the lid is closed and there are USB/FW peripherals plugged in while using a secondary TBolt display as the main output... seems stupid... if I need a closed-lid dock, the MBP shouldn't care what I have plugged in while the lid is closed. I had the same issues with Mountain Lion & Mavericks and now it's being repeated with Yosemite.
My goal in this exercise is simply to free up the USB jacks on the back of the cD for two reasons - #1) from time to time, I have extra things to plug in and I don't want some massive USB 1x8 hub on my desk... looks stupid; #2) the bottleneck created by plugging in the hub to the back of the cD (another hub via TBolt) almost triples the time required to back up/copy files. I move files from system drive to backup drive & back VERY often due to the nature of my job... speeding up this process would greatly improve my efficiency in the matter. Why would Henge create a dock with all the jacks on it to allow someone to plug into a cD that won't frickin work with said cD? Every other dock I've found makes the user stick the MBP on a slanted, goofy-looking stand and have the lid open or something dumb like that... what I have is the setup I need... just need the USB stuff to work while lid is closed and everything from powercon & cD to USB3 hubs will work without making the cD freak out.
Any ideas out there?Have now taken the 27" display into the repair shop and after 24 hrs got the phone call - "appears to be nothing wrong with it, will check again on Tuesday and let you know".
I can't seem to find anything on the net describing a similar problem. Everything is working fine right now with the Mac Pro connected to the older 20 inch Cinema Display. In fact, everything seems to be working about a second faster.
I was told by the local retailer that Apple no longer makes the 27 inch LED Cinema Display product and the new display, the "Thunderbolt" will not work with my 13 month old Mac Pro.
***??? In 20 years of owning Mac equipment, this is my first major "uh-oh". -
Cinema Display hookup via a Thunderbolt drive
I believe it's possible to run a Cinema Display from my MBP via a Thunderbolt drive, going from the MBp to the TB and then, via a Mini-display to DVI cable, into the display.
I've hooked it up this way with the display also plugged into its power supply and usb'd into the MBP: nothing
When I click 'Find displays' I hear activity in the thunderbolt drive (a Lacie 2big) but that's about it. Nothing shows on the Cinema Display.
I'm doing somethin wrong probably, a familiar scene.
Anyone done this successfully?
(I'm running 10.7.3)A dvi display with a resolution greater than 1920 x 1200 requires a dual link dvi adapter. I assume you are using a single link dvi adaper (or cable).
