Re-linking iTunes Orphans?

The scenario: I had been hosting my iTunes library on an external drive connected to my Airport base station. OK, slow, but no problem. I had an issue with some other files on the drive, so I disconnected it from the Airport and hooked it up to my Macbook via USB. Fixed what I needed to fix, returned the drive to the Airport. Started up iTunes. Now 3/4 of my songs show up as "orphans", with the dreaded next to their names! I must have left iTunes running during the switch. The songs are still located on the drive, but iTunes is just not finding them. Is there some way to re-connect all of these songs, without loosing my play counts and ratings?? I know I can link them one at a time, but I am talking about over 3000 tracks, here; I have a life! My play counts and ratings and metadata are really important to me, I base all of my playlists on them, I would hate to loose them. Somebody please help!

If you put your tracks back to the same path they were at when they were added to the iTunes library then iTunes should be able to see them. If I start iTunes with my external drive disconnected I get the exclaimation marks. Connecting the drive & restarting iTunes sorts this out. In the PC world Windows can occasionally assign a different drive letter to your drives when you reconnect them. Manually reassigning them to the original letter reconnecteds the tunes to the library. I'm not completely familiar with Mac, but has the volume id for your external drive changed during the process? If so, can you change it back?

Is It Possible To Link iTunes And QuickSilver?

Is it possible to link iTunes and QuickSilver together, so that QuickSilver opens when iTunes is opened? Sort of linking the two apps together so that opening itunes also opens QuickSilver and quitting iTunes quits QuickSilver? I only use QuickSilver to tell me the song playing when it starts in iTunes, so for the sake of efficiency I was hoping to find a way of automatically opening and closing it to fit with itunes?

Leaving Quicksilver running in the background won't cause you any problems.
However, if you want to launch them both, create an automator workflow or an Applescript that launches both apps. The AppleScript commands would be:
tell application "Quicksilver" to activate
tell application "iTunes" to activate

Ok so this might sound stupid to some of you but I have a question that hopefully can be fixed. I recently installed Leopard on a new hard drive and I still have my old hard drive in my computer with Tiger still on it, along with my itunes library that I want to link to. Now what I'm trying to do it link iTunes that came with Leopard with my library on the Tiger drive. I got to where it is through the change library button in itunes, and click ok but when I get done none of my playlists show up in my iTunes. Does anyone know the trick to link them up? Thank you in advance.

You need to set up two user accounts on the mac. System Preferences>Users & Groups. Then each user can set up apple IDs for itunes and icloud any way they want.

How do I find my Disney Anywhere movies in my linked iTunes Account

I'm sure there must be hundreds of "Frozen" purchasers with this problem.
I purchased the disk with "Digital Copy". When redeeming it says , "Disney Movies Anywhere Account and Itunes". It doesn not give you an Itunes only option. I followed the directions, shifting back and forth between Disney and Itunes entering codes etc.
Now it says my accounts are linked.
The Disney movies in my Itunes Account now show up on Disney Moves Anywhere.
BUT, my Frozen still does not show up in Itunes. It connected in one direction but not in the other.
I need the movie on my Macbook for the grandkids in the car, not in the cloud or on Disney Moves Anywhere.
Any help?

I have a similar issue. It does appear in my iTunes purchased list in iOS. However in the iOS videos app it does not appear as downloadable with the cloud icon next to it. I have to go into iTunes purchase history to download it locally. I have no option to stream the video. It does appear in the list on Apple TV however. Seems to be an issue with the videos app for iOS.

Problem: linking iTunes to Photoshop Elements after upgrading to iOS 7.3.4 to sync iPad to Albumns in Organiser.

Since upgrading to iOS 7.0.3.4 I can link to Folders but not to Albums in Photoshop Elkements 11.
Is Apple aware of this bug and can we expect that it will be corrrected in due course?
Has anyone got a fix?
I can Export Albums from Organiser to Adobe Revel and then iTunes recognises the Album - but Revel only recognises JPEG files and they have to be small as exporting is such a slow process.
I can import a PDF file to my iPad containing a photo slide show previously created with Elements Organiser - it finds its way to the Books app.

Thanks: I did not make it clear that the acquisition of Revel was subsequent to the onset of my problem - Revel is an attempt to work around the problem.
When using iOS 6 the link from iPad to Photosdhop Elements - Organiser - Albums via iTunes worked perfectly - I could sync iPad with iTunes no trouble. Upgrade to iOS 7 and iTunes - Photos showed the title of the Album but contained no photos. After exporting an Album from Orgniser to Revel the photos automatically re-appeared in the iTunes albums list.
Have you any other suggestions?

Re-linking Itunes music.

Hi,
I just did a fresh OS install on my computer and all my itunes music is on a separate hard drive. I want to re-link my music. I have gone into Preferences and set the media folder location to "/Volumes/Mac Drive 2/ITunes/Itunes Music/Music".
How do I get the music to re-link WITHOUT making a copy?

Preferences settings do not affect iTunes links or get iTunes to scan for media already added. The links are generated when the music is first added to iTunes.
It is not clear how you have things set up a regards to the location of your library files and your media files. Assuming you have only media files on the external drive, when iTunes asks you to find the file you want it to play when you click on a track do just that. It will then ask if you want it to find others.
It would be best to make your library portable. Image of folder structure and explanation of different iTunes versions (turingtest2 post) - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-7392 and making an iTunes library portable.
Now having said all that, there may be something else going on. First, why did you do a "fresh" OS installation? That's a very Windows-ish solution to a computer problem. I haven't installed a fresh OS on my Mac in 8 years. Second, installing a fresh OS should not have affected your iTunes library. If you are having to set up links again I am wondering if your main library file got deleted (and which you can restore from your backup you made before installing an OS). If that is the case you will have to add all your files back to a fresh iTunes library.

"anchor" links and Orphaned files ???

I have a number of "anchor" links to a file named "constitution.html". This is to allow one to jump to a specific part of a VERY long page (the complete constitution). The links are like this one constitution.html#a3s1. When I check in DW CS5 for Orphaned files DW reports this file "constitution.html" as an orphaned file.
Is this normal because of the anchor links part of the link?
Or do I have some unknown problem with my code?

Link iTunes to my contacts in Windows Live Mail

My virgin e-mail account will not operate on Windows Outlook using Windows 8 but it has been set up using Windows Live Mail. Having re-installed iTunes onto my pc I find I cannot now pick up my 'Contacts'. Does anyone know how I get ITunes to link with Windows Live Mail 'contacts'?

What do you think about using a bookmark? If you display the Bookmarks Toolbar, it's a one-click operation. If you save the bookmark to the Bookmarks menu, it's a two-click operation. You wouldn't need an additional toolbar.
After opening your mailbox, you can drag the padlock icon from the left side of the address bar and drop it on the Bookmarks Toolbar to add the bookmark there. Right-click and choose Properties to edit the name if it's not to your liking. (If you don't normally display the Bookmarks Toolbar, you can show it by right-clicking a blank area of the tab bar and choosing it from the toolbar list.)
Or to add it to your Bookmarks menu, double-click the faded "star" icon after the right end of the URL (or press Ctrl+d) to open the bookmark dialog. Change the folder to Bookmarks Menu if necessary.
Now... I should mention that for this to work in the future, you would need to stay logged in to your mail site (using Microsoft's cookie) or have Firefox or your favorite password filling add-on save your mail login. Otherwise, your bookmark will be diverted to the login page.

WRT350n storage link itunes problem

There is not enough room on "\\Linksyswrt350n\all_partitions" to copy all of the requested files. iTunes will copy as many files as possible. I know for a fact that I have plenty of room on the drive. It seems itunes is having trouble getting access to the drive... not sure how to fix this

I just bought the wrt350n. have not hooked it up yet. I plan on putting a mybook 750gb drive on the storage link and putting my itunes library on it. how difficult is this?

Apple Pay but skipped the part about linking iTunes Card

I setup Apple Pay and skipped the choice to link the credit card tied to my iTunes account.. I added several other cards with no problem but would now like to link the card associated with iTunes account now.. Cannot find a place on the iPhone or iTunes to do so.. Thought I'd just blow away Apple Pay and start anew but don't see a choice to do that.. Can remove individual cards but cannot default Apple Pay and start anew.. Based on what I have seen, the ability to add the credit card you have on iTunes is only available on initial set up. After that you will need to add it as you would any other card.

Help linking itunes to my music/data on external hard drive

I have my music data on an external hard drive. When in itunes and I click on a song, and ! point shows up along with... The song " ..." could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?
Locating it so far has not worked. I believe the path that points itunesto the music data on the external hd is broken.
Any suggestions on linking the the two together?
