RE: Logic 9..needing to reboot computer...

to switch midi instruments every time//sorta kills work flow..also manual access from the program has disappeared…i7..3.4 ghz..16 gig ram..2tb drives OSX Lion 10.7.5...any ideas ?

Perhaps you work AOS
Indeed I do but in this case there is a forum bug that sometimes prevents users seeing new posts and in this case, that is what happened.. and so I didn't see your last post until you posted again.
Your problem is probably caused by the Tascam you are using.. There are many reports of the same issue around the net..... even with the latest drivers...
Here are a couple of threads I found googling Tascam 1641 and Lion and there are quite a few more...

http://www.logicprohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=83333
The problem appears to be related to when the Mac goes to sleep....  so you could try and prevent your Mac from sleeping and see if that helps..
The solution of booting up in 32bit mode is not one I would recommend...
The newer ML drivers do not seem to help this..
Other than that.. I cannot help you further unfortunately... as it comes down to the Tascam you have and at the moment there is no real fix for it from Tascam...

  • Security filter against AD groups. When you add a computer, does it need to reboot to fall into scope.

This should be an easy one. I have a 2008r2 domain. When I add a computer to an AD security group, so it will get targeted from a GPO that has that same group in its security filter, does the computer need to reboot to start processing any part
of that policy?  It has always seemed that computers need a reboot to pick up their group memberships, but I wanted to double-check.
    Dave

    Hi Dave,
Normally for a computer account to become aware of the group membership change a reboot is required.
Also some group policy can be applied after a comouter reboot. So I'd suggest to reboot your compputer.

  • "you need to reboot your computer"

"you need to reboot your computer" comes up often!
    How to fix please?

If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

  • After installing Mountain Lion.  Time on my computer freezes and I need to reboot to correct it.  Is there a fix for this

To correct this issue I need to reboot.  Has anyone else experienced this issue and is there a fix?

BOTH...when I try to hover over the time, the color wheel of death appears.  AND when I go into system prefs, the clock tab selections have been deselected.  When I try to select "show date and time in menu bar" again, it stalls for a bit, and then reverts to its deselected state.  I've tried rkaufmann87's fix, and it works for just a bit, then back to whacky.  Any ideas?

    Hey,
I've just updated my software to get the new Windows 8.1. On completing my updates, I recieved a message saying my hard drive has changed and that I need to reboot it. How do I do this? Do I risk losing my files? HELP
    HpEnvym6beats

Hello hpenvym6beats. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. I understand the computer provided a message, indicating the hard drive has changed. It shouldn't become a huge issue, as it does occur sometimes, after completing updates. Just turn off the computer and turn it back on. Your files should not be lost, after completing this task.
Please respond if you have any other questions or concerns.

  • I need to reboot my HP Elitebook 6930p hard drive but no F11

I need to reboot the hard drive on my HP Elitebook 6930p. I'm using Windows 7. I hit escape upon turning the computer on and then F9 and chose the hard drive reboot option but then after hitting escape again there is no F11 option to take me to System Recovery. The F11 key does nothing and it's not even listed as an option. Does this mean I need to get discs to reboot and if so, does anyone know where I can buy them low price? If not, is there a step here in the reboot process that I'm missing? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. Paul

    Hi:
Yes you can get any version of W7 that the product key on your notebook is good for at the link below.
Use the applicable SP1 Media Refresh ISO file as they are the latest ones.
    http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/14709-Windows-7-Digital-River-direct-links-Multiple-Languag...
After you download the ISO file make sure you got the whole advertised file size.
Then use this tool to transfer the ISO file to a 4 GB USB flash drive or DVD.
The tool will also make the media bootable.

  • HELP Lightroom 5.6 Spontaneously Reboots Computer

Lightroom 5.6 is installed on a new computer running Windows 8.1 and all drivers and software are up to date.  All other software is running fine including InDesign which has been used heavily for 5-6 hours without problems.  I imported my existing photos into a new catalog in a freshly installed Lightroom 5.6.  After Import, with minimal previews generated on all 11,400 images, I tried generating 1:1 previews on a small group of images and the computer spontaneously (no pause, no blue screen) just rebooted without any warning.  After the reboot I tried to start Lightroom again, received a message saying; “error in previews and Lightroom needs to close”.  Kept receiving this same message each time when starting Lightroom again and was unable to open Lightroom.  Uninstalled Lightroom and ran CCleaner to clear registry entries, cleared all Lightroom preferences and rebooted computer and then re-installed Lightroom.  Thinking that there may be some sort of error in the existing catalog I decided to start a new catalog and re-imported all images again.
(I have subsequently concluded that the error is in the Preview files. Apparently when Lightroom closes in a spontaneous reboot the preview files are corrupted hence the message I received. When the reboots happen during 1:1 preview creation I can successfully restart Lightroom if I first delete the Preview folder.)
After importing all images into the re-installed Lightroom tried creating 1:1 previews and experienced the same spontaneous reboot of the computer.  Thinking that there might have been some kind of error in the downloaded software, I downloaded a new copy of Lightroom 5.6 and re-installed the software (have done this twice now).  Again Lightroom spontaneously rebooted the computer when attempting to create 1:1 previews.  Uninstalled and reinstalled Lightroom in the manner previously described above.  After re-importing all images I decided NOT to create previews this time.  But as I was selecting an image in Library to show large, Lightroom spontaneously rebooted again; however this time I was able to restart Lightroom without receiving an error message.  After restarting Lightroom as I tried to select a new image in Library the computer once again spontaneously rebooted.
At this point I have uninstalled and re-installed Lightroom 5.6 eight times.  Each time I have carefully searched the computer to make sure that all vestiges of the previous installation have been deleted by using CCleaner, deleting ALL Lightroom folders and searching the registry to make sure that there was nothing left of the prior Lightroom installation.  I also deleted the catalog and all presets.  So at this point I am at a loss as to what my next step should be.
    Any suggestions?  Thank you.
Background: I started using Lightroom when Adobe purchased RAWshooter and upgraded all their uses to Lightroom version 1. So I have used every version through Lightroom 5.6. I have Lightroom installed on three other computers and they all run without an issue. This is the first time in all the years I have been using light that I have encountered any problem.

    Thanks for the responses.
I have already installed HWMonitor when dj_page suggested it may be due to overheating yesterday.
Tried to insert a print sceeen but file was too big.
The CPU package is running at 62°C
the 4 cores vary from 61,62,64,54
I don't know if this is hot or normal.
Once I get into Lightroom I have no way of telling what the temps are as the second I generate a 1:1 preview the computer reboots.
All three case fans and CPU fan are running.
Don't know what else I can check.
The case is a mid-tower Antec with lots of space and well designed ventilation.
Currently I'm using the Intel graphics display built into the motherboard. Have a new graphics card coming because I suspect that the added load of the video onto the CPU may be causing the issue. What do you all think?

  • Constant need to reboot powerbook

After applying the updates (battery, bluetooth and 10.4.4) which became available this week, I have needed to reboot the powerbook at least three times every day.
    Here is a rundown:
Battery=> no need to run update
Bluetooth=> update did not work. Never finished.
    10.4.4=> updated fine.
It would appear that I need to reboot more frequently when I close the lid and open it later. Though I have also seen it work fine for about 10 minutes after the lid was opened and then I get the message that I need to reboot.
Anyone else having this problem? The computer ran GREAT before I did the updates.
Also, anyone know how I can fix it? I don't even know where to begin to trouble shoot it.
    Thanks,
    jason

  • Painfully slow or need to reboot

Ever since I installed Yosemite on my MacBook Pro, my computer is either constantly so slow or needs to be rebooted.  I NEVER needed to find out before how to do a Ctrl-Alt-Del for a Mac until I loaded Yosemite.  Any suggestions on how to make my computer run the way it use to?

MacBook Pro is extremely slow or freezes to the point of needing to reboot

  • Need to reboot WRT54G2 every morning

Need to reboot WRT54G2 every morning but only for my wireless printer. Everything else works great. Print job sits in spooler until router is reset then it will go through

I think it must be the issue with the printer settings on the computer.
Go to Printer properties. Click on Advanced tab. You will find the option print directly to the printer. Select that option and see if that works.

  • TaskSequence Do I really need 16 reboots ?

    Hi all,
We want to install 40 applications with a Task Sequence using SCCM2012 R2.  We migrated 40 Packages to the “Application Model”. When we run the TS on Win7 and the application exitcode was 3010 we got a nice restart and the TS moved on to install the next
application. With 40 apps we get approximately 16 reboots based on a 3010 exitcode.
    16 reboots is too much!
So we build a wrapper and all the exitcode now are 0 within a TS so no restarts.
    But after the installation of APP-V 4.6 / .Net 4.5 / Powershell 3.0 / we want a reboot.
When I select “Restart Computer – The currently installed default operating system” we get an error after the reboot:
“Task sequence failed due to an external shutdown request received during the TS running” …

How is it that a reboot initiated from the TS fails the TS?
Could it be that there are to many “PendingFileRenameOperations”?
Are there any actions that I need to do before or after the reboot action in the TS?
    Do I really need 16 reboots….

Removing that reboot step doesn't prove that it is not application doing instant reboot.
When you remove TS initiated reboot you prevent application doing it's post installation processing which could be causing that additional reboot you see in TS log.
The only way to tell would be analyzing event logs from operating system or trying to do each step of the task sequence manually (right after you install SCCM client) and watch what happens. I personally caught this in system logs first and then I was able
    to confirm this behavior manually.
Similar behavior is observed when you install roles in task sequence using MDT step. When role that is selected for installation requires another role as pre-requisite, it installs it automatically and if that extra role requires reboot, it will do it and
break your task sequence. Workaround for this is to find exactly what is needed, install it first as pre-requisite, reboot, then install the actual role you need. This is just an example of similar behavior which is logged the same way in TS log.
