Re: Lorex Security Camera with Linksys WRT320n Setup Help

I setup a Lorex security camera system that allows for to view them via remote acces.  I am able to view them through the local network but not via outside network connection.  I believe lies within the network settings that i have in place.  I have tried to apply the port forwarding settings but still not able to.  If someone has this type of system setup or know where to point me I would appreciate the help.  The default web port is 80 and the TCP port 6100.

1)  I assume that you have set your security camera to a fixed (static) LAN IP address  -- is this correct?
2)  And that you are forwarding the appropriate port to that address   --  is that correct?
Rules for using fixed LAN IP addresses on Linksys routers:
With Linksys routers, a fixed (static) LAN IP addresses must be assigned in the device that is using the address. So you need to enter the fixed address in the computer , printer, or camera, not in the router.  This is the best way to assign a fixed LAN IP address.   In your WRT320N, there is an alternative method  --- you could use the "DHCP reservation" method to assign your camera the same fixed LAN IP address each time you boot up your network.
When using a Linksys router, normally, any fixed LAN IP address must be outside the DHCP server range (typically 192.168.1.100 thru 192.168.1.149), and it cannot end in 0, 1, or 255.  However, if you are using "DHCP reservation" your camera's address should be within the DHCP server range.
Therefore any fixed LAN IP address would normally need to be in the range of
192.168.1.2 thru 192.168.1.99 or
192.168.1.150 thru 192.168.1.254
assuming you are still using the default DHCP server range.
Also, in the computer, when you set up a static LAN IP address, you would need to set the "Subnet mask" to 255.255.255.0 and the "Default Gateway" to 192.168.1.1 and "DNS server" to 192.168.1.1
It is also important that no two devices on your network be set to the same static LAN IP address.
Also note that many cameras cannot use the proxy DNS server located at 192.168.1.1 .  In this case, enter your true Internet DNS server address (found in the router)  into you camera.

  • Linksys WRT320N - PLEASE HELP!

All I wanted to do was change a setting in my Linksys WRT320N router through its web page (192.168.1.1).  For your information, I was playing Halo Reach and it kept kicking me off for having a "moderate" NAT setting on my router.  I looked into and it seemed like a simple fix.  I simply needed to access my roter web page and set the NAT to "disabled".  I must have changed the admin password to access the web page because nothing I tried would work.  So, I did a hard reset on the router.  That allowed me access to the web page.  The web page was working properly.  The router was and is networking to the other computers in the house properly as well.
However, the Internet connection could not be made through the router.
    I have:
-Connected the modem directly to the nearby PC (bypassing the router) and verified internet connection.
-Attempted to gain internet verification (access) through the router by using "Clone my PC Mac" function.
This produced the correct status information, IP address, etc. Yet, I still get no internet connection.
-Reinstalled the software that came on the CD with the router.
-Reconfigured my router with said CD.
-Received this message upon completion of configuration from said software, "CONGRATULTIONS!  You're Linksys router has been successfully configured.  However, the internet connection could not be verified."
-Power cycled the modem, the router and the nearby PC several times.  However, it is possibe I am doing that in the wrong order or at the wrong time.
I still can't receive internet through the router.  I tend to believe it has to do with the router and modem not "liking" each other for some silly security reason.  Linksys Tech support says its my ISP but they'll fix it for $30.00.  My ISP says its the LInksys router.  I don't know where to go from here. Do I bite the bullet and pay linksys money they dont deserve?  I want to think I can still fix it myself.
"Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope!"

Connect the computer with the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port of your Linksys router also make sure that Internet is connected to the router .
Press the reset and hold it for 30 seconds .
Power cycle the modem and router .
Follow this link for setting up your router .

  • I've just upgraded my iPad 2 to iOS 6.0 and have lost the YouTube that came with iOS 5.1   Help?

I have only had my iPad2 with ios 5.1 a few months but already had several videos stored with the YouTube app that came with iOS 5.1.
I have just upgraded to ios 6 and appear to have lost this App.
    What has happened?
Can I get it back, along with my stored videos?
I did sync my iPad with my PC and so there may be copies there, but not being computer literate, I would not want to transfer them from the PC to the iPad with any risk of losing them,  assuming that the YouTube App transfers with it or that I can download a YouTube aPp for ios 6.
Any advice on this aspect of the problem would be much appreciated.

#1 How is your computer connected to this router (Wired or by wireless)?
#2 What router where you using before this problem happened?

  • Security cameras with blue screen

I recently bought a couple of BNC PCI cards for an older computer that I'm using as a security system. the cards physically install just fine and are recognized as video0 and video1. My problem is whenever I attempt to view the cameras connected to these cards all I see is a blue screen whenever I opening Cheese or wxcam. I just recently bought a new BNC cable to test with, but I'm unsure of what other things I can try to get the video to work. The chips are recognized as bt878, and everything seems as though it's probably be detected as far as I can tell. I don't seem to get any error messages either. would anyone have any good ideas on how to troubleshoot this outside of buying more cables or cameras. The PCI cards in question are brand new.  Thanks in advance!!!

This seems like quite a serious security issue if keystrokes/commands can be entered on a locked system.
yes, it is. it is a known problem in leopard. it's fixed in snow leopard but unlikely to ever be fixed in leopard as leopard development has stopped.

  • Cant access security cameras with ea6200 router

I have everythig hooked up. port forwarding is enabled on port 80. i can only access my cameras from within my network. if i go outside my network i cant get in.
    please help.
its like i cnt get passed the firewall

What are things you tried so far in accessing your camera remotely? Have you tried to type your public/WAN ip address and the port number (ex:  http://68.12.123.3:80) on the address bar? Try to verify as well which port is needed for your camera. There might be something else other than 80.

  • Security Camera with Green Light?

So I bought the notebook webcam for the main purpose of motion detection. Maybe I am not seeing it but it is hard to conceal that I am doing that with the bright green light always on. Is there any way to disable?

    Michphoto48843,
No real way to disable this light, however you may be able to just cover it with a small piece of cardboard paper or something similar. Often a low tech solution will work as well as a high tech one.

  • 7500 Westell Router Used as Bridge with Linksys wrt320N

When I turn on the 7500 Router, the "Internet" light comes on and then I am unable to access the internet. I turn the router off and on again and this internet light does not come. Then I am able to access the internet.
Why does this occur and how can I fix this?

when the router is bridged, you should not see the internet light on it.  the internet light reflects if the westell succesfully made a dhcp or pppoe connection.

  • Linksys wireless setup, help?

Help, I have set up the linksys wireless router with help from linksys but when I sign on to my network it is saying connection is active but not able to connect to the internet. Linksys says I have to call apple support to configure, any know what to do? Sorry new Mac user.
    Thanks
    macbook

but since with an apple computer you can't use the setup wizard you
    need online help
i did not have to use "key" like the instructions, i powered off the
cable modem off for 10 minutes, connected the ethernet cable from the
modem to the router, then powered up the modem first then the router
and configured the apple network connect in system prefs , use this
online help (print it off) and follow the instuctions and surprise
    surprise it worked
    http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/linksys.cfg/php/enduser/stdadp.php?p_faqid=540&p_created=1084216752&p_sid=RDT8tlui&p_accessibility=0&p_lva= &p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9OCZwX3Byb2RzPTAmcF 9jYXRzPSZwX3B2PSZwX2N2PSZwX3NjZl9sYW5nPTEmcF9wYWdlPTEmcF9zZWFyY2hfdGV4dD1BSVJQT1 JU&p_li=&ptopview=1
oh if your router quits you can change the connection type in the
internet connection in the apple system prefs, then connect an
ethernet cable directly to the cable modem, and then it works great.
this helped me get on line without the router. kind of like the
hospital, but you do have to tell your computer that you are
connecting to the internet using ethernet

  • Conflict with my network setup--Help!

    Hi Helpers,
I have a Windows unit, an iMac G5 and a MBP on my home Airport Extreme network.
    1) When the MBP is connected to the net, the Windows unit won't work, but the iMac does.
    2) Windows unit Works fine when MBP airport is turned off.
    3) I can run the iMac and the MBP together.
    4) When iMac airport is on, I can run Windows unit.
Any suggestions how I can get internet access with all 3 units? I'm thinking it is a problem with the MBP connection, but I don't have a clue what it could be.
iMac G5, MacBook Pro, Dell   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Fixed it! Turns out it was the Windows software.

  • T1114 4g router with security camera setup?

Has anyone been able to set up security cameras with the 4G LTE Broadband Router with Voice model T1114 ? I have been talking to Verizon, Foscam and Novotel and I am getting absolutely no where. I'd hate to have to keep my DSL service just because of my security cameras, but at this point it's looking like that may be a possibility. If anyone has a solution or guidance, I'd appreciate it.

    > is that a complicated work around or is it fairly simple?
Its simple in design, but could be complicated to configure and maintain depending on your network comfort level.  Considering your goal is to access cameras and not a PC you will need the assistance of an additional VPN router.  Setup the Jetpack(or USB modem) to act like a modem and link him to a VPN router with a wireless bridging feature.  From there you configure the VPN router to automatically connect to your desired VPN server as long as the Jetpack is online and providing a connection.
The setup would look something like this:
    - VZW ))) Jetpack ))) VPNRouter === Cam1
    - VZW ))) Jetpack ))) VPNRouter === Cam2
    - VZW ))) Jetpack ))) VPNRouter === Cam3
    - etc
If the cameras happen to be wireless then the VPN router should be able to accommodate those connections too, but I wouldn't recommend relying on wireless any more than you need to considering how much is going on already.
VPN connectivity is a feature on some more advanced home routers and can also be re-flashed on others with the use of custom firmware.  DD-WRT can enable this functionality for free if you happen to have a compatible router lying around that supports wireless bridging.  VZW does not offer any products for you that can do this so you will have to look elsewhere.
Wireless bridging is the process of connecting one router to another over WiFi.  On devices that support this functionality there is generally a mode called "Bridge mode", "AP mode" or something along those lines that can enable the configurations for you.  From there you would need to decide if you want the device to perform only as a bridge and Ethernet cable connect the cameras or perform a "repeater" function and rebroadcast the Jetpacks signal to the cams.
The goal being to get everything that requires remote access to automatically connect to the chosen VPN server.  That way whenever you want to remotely connect and view the cameras all you need is a way to connect to the VPN server where everything is resting.  All you should have to do from there is keep the Jetpack/USB modem online and everything else will take care of itself from there.

  • Airport Extreme + Security camera

    Hi,
Need a bit to help. I purchased a DCS-2121 D-Link home security camera with the intention to set it up and allow it to record images when triggered by its motion detection.
    Hardware:
    DCS-2121 D-Link home security camera
Airport Base Station (white dome version)
    Virgin Broadband
    20' iMac (Intel)
    After quite a struggle, I eventually got the camera to work wirelessly and was able to view the camera from most web browsers (i was quite pleased with myself). I then wanted to record the images, the camera setup gave me two options;
Record to an SD Card (slot in side of camera), or
(ii) Record to a Samba Network Drive
The easiest option, I thought, was the SD card option. After checking the boxes on the setup menu for this option and putting the sd card in the camera, I was quite disappointed that no images were stored on the sd card after a days worth of recording. Any thoughts?
I then progressed onto the second option for recording, "Samba Network Drive". This started to feel a bit out of my knowledge range but I gave it a go. The setup menu asked for a USERNAME, PASSWORD, SERVER and SHARD FOLDER. This is where I got confused! What is required to get this recording to a folder?
Ideally, could a memory stick be placed in the spare usb port in the Airport Base Station and record the images onto it? This option would negate for a computer to be left on if recording via the Samba method.
    I would appreciate anybody's advice.
    Thanks,
    Robert

SMB is basically windows file sharing. You'll need to enable this on your mac in system preferencess/sharing. See this for more info:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1812
I'm pretty sure airport disks are shared via SMB by default in "WORKGROUP" (it's been a while). Though memory sticks don't always work well with airport base stations.
    For the other information:
Username: Username of your mac user account if accessing the computer, not sure what goes here if you're sharing via airport.
Password: The appropriate account password, or the airport disk password.
Server: The computer name or airport name. I don't think SMB uses spaces, so I'm pretty sure it translates names like "Mac Mini" into "Mac-Mini"
Shared folder: The name of the folder being shared
If you've got a windows computer, this can be tested out pretty easily by going through it's network places and into Workgroup to see if everything is shared properly.

  • Original Pictures that came with Iphone

OK stuipid question but where can I find the wallpapers that came with my 3g.. When I updates my girlfriend phone to new iOs I switched wallpaper and it is no longer an option. It was a pic that came with the phone. Help anyone?

Restoring your iPhone to factory settings should do this and if restoring from your iPhone's backup doesn't do it, a Restore as a new iPhone or not from the backup should.

  • Wrt160n with Axis 207w wireless wifi security camera

I can't see the linksys wrt160n in the setup of my wireless security camera. I have the router in default settings, with ssid broadcast enabled. I have tried the different settings, with Radio Band Standard Channel Network Mode. But never do I see the router in the setup of my camera. I see all the other routers in the street and have used the camera for years with my 3com wireless-access point. Wired the camera works fine with the router.

You should use a unique SSID name do not use Linksys. Lets say you use Canadian as your SSID  When you view wireless network Canadian Secured network should appear in wireless network or profiles for your camera.
It does not matter if there is more than one network showing in the list.  It matters that you connect to the correct network.

  • Home Security Web Cam With Express?

    Hi,
While owning three macs, I just now converted from a Linksys G router to the Airport Extreme. I have long wanted to set up a in-home, perhaps motion-sensitive web security camera. It occurs to me that I might get an Aiport Express and plug an ethernet cord from the Express to a camera (my Extreme is in an inappropriate location for a webcab setup). I do know that there are home security cameras that don't require a computer, but I was wondering if there was a better, Mac-based solution that might involve an Express.
Sorry for the naivete about these issues, and thanks for your responses!
    Steve

why not just use a wireless cam? we've used two in the past with success. axis m1011-w (currently in use) and panasonic BL-C20A (a bit harder setup with mac). we use ben bird's security spy as the receiving software (running on our home-teater-mini) and cache the data to a remote HD connected as an air-disk to our AEBS. caching the video to a HD internal to the computer that is running SS is more seamless, but in a robbery situation, the computer would be stolen where as the HD/AEBS tucked away in a wiring closet would be ignored... so it least we'd have webcam video of the theft to enjoy at xmas parties and family reunions. the thing about the video feed is that is needs to be running to a machine that doesn't sleep or turn off. to my knowledge there's no mac webcam-setup that doesn't have to pass through the computer.
