Re: MSI 58 eclipse plus won't start

Hmmm...bad board.  I guess my context was completely wrong.  Hehehehe

Buddy, just a word of advice...6GB OCZ Platinum DDR2-12800 and MSI Eclipse Plus just don't mix.  I have exactly the same combo and was not able to make it work right until I went and bought Corsair 1600 memory.  The OCZ memory has tighter memory timing, but it works horrible, even when I relax their timing to 9-9-9-24 like that of Corsair.  Still crapping out every single time, even at stock speed (non-OCed CPU)!  I originally thought that my memory kit was bad, si I RMAed it, got a new kit from OCZ, installed it, same thing!  My conclusion?  OCZ Platinum and Eclipse Plus just don't mix.
The Corsair memory kit works perfectly, stock or OCed.  To further isolate my issue, I OCed the CPU to a certain speed, use the relaxer timing of the two memory kits and tried one at a time.  I've tried running it at 1066, 1333, 1600 and everything in between.  With the Corsair memory, I was to run my board stable at everything.  As soon as I changed to the OCZ memory, the PC crapped out every single time.  It would crash, freeze, BSODed out....etc...etc....  The OCZ memory is now sitting on the shelf.
Go and get a different brand of memory.  It will make a world of a difference, I tell ya.
well i would belive that my pc atleast would run fans e.t.c  even if it was the ram, as its now. i`l steal some ram from a buddy and see.
thanks for ur tip.

  • MSI eclipse plus startup problem

    Hi,
I have the MSI eclipse plus motherboard, but I have a strange startup problem.
Sometimes my computer fails to start up. When I try again sometimes it works fine. (without changing any hardware or software configuration)
The Eclipse plus has a small  D-led2 panel that shows information about the startup phases.
When my startup fails, the panel mentions: CPU init. And the error Code is FF (this means: power on and first initialize CPU)
(This is the phase just before DDR init).
So the startup fails in a very early stage of the startup process, (before I can access my bios)
When the start up fails, I have to disconnect the power cable, reconnect and try to start again. This is a very uncomfortable situation.
I have the latest BIOS version 21/04/2009 V1.0
I tried the fail-save default options in the bios.
    My processor is i7 940
    RAM: OCZ DDR3 . 6 pieces of 2GB. 1600Mhz (3 dual channel kits)
    Power supply: Corsair 1000Watt
I hope somebody can help me.
    Thanks in advance

Please note that the memory controller was moved into the CPU with the i7 - it is no longer part of motherboard chipset (MCH). You're not the first and probably won't be the last to buy the wrong type of DDR3 memory for your i7 rig. People, before you buy; check if the memory you are handing money over for is actually suitable for your CPU. Simple really as they will state they are i7 compatible. The i7 has a recommended maximum voltage of 1.65V for the integrated memory controller, 1.9V is probably a dangerous voltage to set it to (if the BIOS even allows it). To quote the OCZ FAQ:
    Quote
The memory supply voltage also powers the receivers and senders on the memory controller with a voltage plane known as VDDQ. Because the Corei7 is manufactured on a 45 nm node, the logic is sensitive to overvoltage and Intel defines the upper safe limit for the Core i7 as 1.65V.
    So to answer your question:
    Quote
I still have one question: What do I risk with my DDR3 memory that is standard at 1.9V
More than likely, the integrity of the i7 940 itself. You have to ask yourself, "What's cheaper to replace... the RAM or the CPU?" The answer should be simple enough to work out for the average user.
I'd be taking the RAM back if at all possible and exchange/upgrade it for an i7 compatible kit (which will be three/six stick tri-channel, not two/four sticks dual-channel) designed to operate within the 1.5V~1.65V recommended voltage range. The OCZ equivalent (comparing what you currently have) to what you want would be this range.

  • MSI Eclipse Plus problems

    Hi Guys,
    Spec as follows;
    MSI Eclipse Plus
    Inwin 650W Commander 80+ PSU
    i7 920 CPU
    6x 2GB Apacer DDR3 10600 1333MHz
    MSI N275GTZ (Twin Frozr) GPU
    Seagate Barracuda 1Tb 7200 HDD
    LG GGC-H20L BluRay/DVD
    LG W2343S LCD monitor
    Logitech MX5500 Revolution Cordless Desktop
    Logitech Z5500 Digital Surround Sound
    MS Vista Ultimate 64bit
    Bios Rev 1.0
After a week of struggling and the box traveling back to the wholesaler twice the OS is loaded and the MB and graphics drivers. I have faced problems from the incorrect voltage RAM being supplied (1.9V) to a horribly unstable system that boots when it wants to. Currently when the systems boots there is a 25% chance that graphic of the "windows starting" page is corrupted and the PC hangs.
This is using the only current configuration that will boot to hand to OS. I have removed 3x memory modules and only left the Black slots populated. When I populate the blue slots over and above the board quickly overheats and becomes unstable. Upon reboot either cold or hot the system will hang on "DDR init", reboot 3 times or more and sometimes displays the overclock error.
Does anyone know what the problem is and is there a workaround or update to correct this. This PC has cost plenty dough and is frustrating the hell out of me.

Max voltage for ram is 1.65V , change the settings manually if needed in the bios.
Try asking a new bios on the MSI on-line support , there is a new one but it is beta i believe. (A7566IMS.111 date 1/06/2009)
They gave me one(beta) for my eclipse (not plus)and mine is running like a rocket.

  • Overclock MSI Eclipse Plus with Intel Core i7 920

    Hi,
I need help on how to overclock MSI Eclipse Plus with Intel Core i7 920?
    Here are my system spec.
    MSI Eclipse Plus
    Antec Quattro 850W PSU
    Corsair TR3X6G1600C9
    120GB Sata HDD
    Rgds

With a stock Intel CPU cooler, I don't recommend going past what default voltages can achieve, excluding maybe a memory voltage increase or timings adjustment if needed. Some utilities are very important to have before starting to OC such as Real Temp & CPU-Z. What are your CPU & IOH temps reading in bios H/W Monitor? The temps of the individual cores is also very important, which Real Temp will provide you with.
As mentioned, with a stock cooler, I would suggest not going past about 3.507 (bclk 167 X 21). Other settings need to be changed before this is done however. We need those temps too, before specific settings can be suggested. The last thing any of us want to do, is make settings changes & voltage recommendations that may damage your system.

  • MSI Eclipse Plus cannot startup and always on "suspend"

Good day everyone, I'm at wits end. Currently using the MSI Eclipse Plus with i7 920 (not overclocked yet) with a Gigabyte 800W Odin Pro Power Supply. The problem I'm encountering is at the startup. When I press power button the board blinks blue like normal and immediately goes into suspend mode. (well im guessing it is cos there is a yellow led light above the power button on the motherboard indicating suspend).
I tried unplugging devices, fans, hard disks, all peripherals but the motherboard just wont boot up.
The funny thing was yesterday I was using the computer and it was just fine. No problems...until this evening when it decided not to boot at all and stubbornly display the yellow LED stating its on suspend.
    What gives?
Hope you guys can help me cos really I am so tempted to ditch this board right now.
    Stefan

Sounds like all is well. That's good news. If all is confirmed stable, I wait a week or two before OC'ing to give everything some time to settle in. There is some real good OC info in the OC & Modders part of the forum. Actually, when you are ready to start OC, it is best to start a new thread in the OC & Mod section of the forum. If your CPU cooler is stock original, 3.5 is probably a realistic goal. A base clock of 166-7 & multi 21 with Turbo Boost, should net about 3.507. Keep in mind, the RAM is affected as well, & those settings will probably need some adjustment as well. There are other settings that need to be changed too. When you create your new thread, be sure to make a signature of all your system components. It makes it a bunch easier to make recommendations.

  • Eclipse IDE won't start anymore after most recent security update

    Hello everybody,
after today's security update the Eclipse IDE won't start anymore on my system, I just receive the following error message:
A Java Runtime Environment (JRE) or Java Development Kit (JDK) must be available in order to run Eclipse.
No Java virtual machine was found after searching the following locations: /Applications/eclipse/Eclipse.app/Contents/MacOS/jre/bin/
    java
    'java' in your current PATH
Java is installed and Eclipse ran smoothly until I upgraded. Other Java programs like Visual Paradigm still work without problems.
Does anybody have an idea what I can do about this? I have already tried repairing permissions, to no avail.
    Best regards,
    Björn
Mac Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

I have narrowed down the problem even more:
Obviously system path variables are not set anymore on my system for UNIX processes that are started in background, whereas starting applications from terminal using the open command ('open Gimp.app' for instance) still works without any problems.
Any ideas where to change this behaviour?

I guess you could argue the case with the shop, although rare, the pins could have been bent from the start. Otherwise, an RMA to MSI will be needed. At the top of this page just under the big blue MSI logo, you should see the 'Service' tab. Good luck to you gulare, & hope it is resolved soon for you.
When I bought my Eclipse (FluidTek in Sydney, Australia), I was made to remove it from the anti-static bag  the shop, inspect it and sign off the pins were undamaged. I can understand this from the vendor's point-of-view as it leaves no doubt as to the initial condition of the board and who is responsible for any socket damage.

  • Zen Nano Plus WON'T START / RECOVERY / RES

Hello ZNP friends and fellow victims of frustration,
I have the GB Zen Nano Plus and a Windows XP operating system. My Zen is just over 3 months old, and a few days ago I started having the "stuck on Logo or hour glass (building library) problem". Like many of you, it has frustrated me beyond belief in my attempts to correct it. I'm certainly not a computer whiz, but I'm fairly good at following clear, numbered, valid instructions. I have tried many of the offered cures for this problem as provided in the discussion forum. None have worked for me.
I have just stumbled onto/into the fix for the WON'T START / RECOVERY / RESCUE problem. At least, I hope it lasts. The bad news is that I don't know or remember the steps for the cure. The good news is that the problem can be fixed. In the frustration of trying a million variations on the steps offered in the discussion area, I happened to fix my nano plus. I was becoming like a hyper zealot playing a slot machine.
What I do remember is this:
) I did download the application ZenNanoPlus_PCFW_LF___0 and install it, and put an icon on my desktop so I could activate it easily.
    2) I did double click it to call it up.
    3) I attached my nano plus via USB to the computer. I don't remember if I had to do that before or after bringing up the above application. (You may have to try both.)
    4) I did leave the battery out of the nano plus during this operation.
    5) I was required to reformat the nano plus which eliminated anything on it. When the instruction came on to reformat, it said "... area" so I was worried that the reformat might include more than the device itself but it didn't.
    6) Then I loaded a song, disconnected the device from the computer, put in a battery, and it started fine.
What a task that whole process was! Of course I'm not telling you anything new. I was tempted to just get on with life, but then I thought I should really share this with those of you who have been in the trenches...to let you know that a cure is possible.
Creative should really have a clear set of instructions by now for fixing this problem.
    Good luck!
    Buck

Have you updated the firmware? this could be the major cause. Also, MP3 has far fewer kinks as a uni'versal format than WMA. If possible, I highly suggest using MP3 on MP3 players.

  • MSI Eclipse Plus, SLI, PCI and double hieght graphic cards.

I'm intrested in building a system with the Eclipse Plus and 2 card sli setup.
The manual states that for a 2 way sli, graphic cards should be placed in slots top 2 pci slots. MY graphic cards are double height so placing them in these slots would block out the only pci slot available which I need
Is it possible to mount the graphic cards in the first and 3rd slot and still achieve sli?

Are you sure about that PD?
syrus will just have to give it a try. Please let us know if it works.

  • MSI Eclipse Plus Motherboard Featuring NF200 Chip is it worth the it????

Well MSI have launched there i7 with NF200 support according to some uk sites and the price is like ouch ouch and ouch again £350ish. Also it seems from some reports on the NF200 it slower that the X58 without the chip so is it really worth the money? Or are we been ripped of by the computer industry.

    I agree with mechsner , for now it's overkill , on the eclipse you can run 2x pci-e 16x or 1 pci-ex16 and  2 x pci-ex8 for triple sli.
If you use 2x gtx295 or 2x 4870x2 you got quad sli on 2x pci-ex16 (black slots).
Maybe in the future when gpu's get stronger and faster but now ?
Now sli is software related on the x58 chipset, but with the nf200 it' hardware related. is this better ?

so I bought Z97-GD65 motherboard, installed all components and when I try to turn it on, it does not start. Only the light on the motherboard's power button is blinking and nothing happens, no fan spins, no additional light come on. Tried with different PSU, replacing RAM, disconnecting other components and nothing helps.
    So is my motherboard dead?
P.S. one stange thing, the BIOS battery was dead, checked with voltmeter, replaced with other, didn't help.

I have problem, heres my pack:
    MSI z68a-gd65

    hyperx predator 8gb 2x4gb rams
    asus gtx660 pci-e 2gb
    2tb seagate
    650w corsair
and the problem, i installed up the components today and got it working first without detecting SATA 2tb seagate. Then i switched to all sata ports and the last one 8 and 7 worked fine for seagate and Asus DVD. But now the problem is that it lets me in marvell bios when it shows up the harddisk and dvd, but not in the "primary bios". When it shows the first data, harddisk and dvd, it goes straight to "Warning BIOS ME file not found install on the usb" etc... I dont know what to do because i read all the forums in the internet, wasted 6 hours in investigating internet and found nothing. Have tried the flash utilitys, USB flasher utility found in forums and all... Reseting BIOS didnt help.
Please help, im getting drunk every hour more with this cra*

As i know, the board was in the warranty fix, and became back to shop, where i buyed it. But the shop gave everyone who would buy the board, 6months warranty so i dont think it would be broken.
Also for the flashing, i dont have OS on that system, what we are talking about. And if i download those BIOS from the MSI site, its only EXE? I cant run exe from USB flash when starting PC?

  • 8iLite,SQL*PLUS Won't start, ORA-12203

I d/l'd 8iLite and I am running on WIN95. In the log on dialog box for SQL*PLUS, I typed username = scott and password = tiger and got the error message: ORC-12203:TNS: unable to connect to destination. (This indicates that the username and password are acceptable.)
Earlier, I was in Oracle Navigator and tried to set myself up as a new user. From the file menu, I selected Createdb.exe and I go the error message: C:\orawin95\BIN\Createdb.exe has a bad format. I also selected crdb35.exe from the file menu and got the error mesage: c:\orawin95\BIN\crdb35.exe has a bad format.
In each case, I clicked OK to close the dialog box and attempted to enter the new user properties anyway; in each case I got the error message ORA-12203:TNS:unable to connect to destination.
I am wondering whether the root cause of the problem is that Createdb.exe and crdb35.exe are corrupted, and is so, what to do about it. My main goal is to get SQL*PLUS running on the sample (POLITE) database.
ANY help would be greatly appreciated. If someone would email me good copies of Createdb.exe and crdb35.exe, I'll try that.
    Thanks, Gary

  • MSI Gaming Center won't start

Hi! I had to reformat my notebook early because a virus was bothering my notebook's performance. After I reformatted it, I think everything seemed to work fine except my MSI Gaming Center. When I click it, nothing happens even if I click the buttons for it on the keyboard.
Is this the only thing that happens when reformatting a notebook because I might have missed something since I reformatted it when my laptop is more than a week old?
I was looking for an answer here in the forums before over google but it seemed to be removed when I click it. Any links or solutions here?

BIOS is REV:1.0 and EC is major and minor is 0x000000ff (255). Not sure about the firmware though if i found the name at the right place
You need to press del key when you see MSI logo during POST. Then access system information.
