MSI A4000-068US BIOS MOD REQUEST
As was done with the A5000 recently(https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=132858.0), i was wondering if the same could be done with the A4000. basically some of the requests included:
Reverse/swap the notebook keys functions of the "Fn" key with Left "Ctrl" key like you have done with other models. I would also like to know if you could enable us to change the GPU Frame Buffer Size from the fixed 256MB to a user selectable 32MB - 512MB like other notebook manufacturers have done with this Nvidia chipset. Any other performance options such as making FSB-Memory Ratio or Memory Clock user selectable in BIOS would be awesome! additionally if there was a way to undervolt CPU to extend batt life would be great as well.
thanks for all your helpQuote from: jimboee on 10-July-10, 11:25:26
It has been over 120 days with no reply from Svet. This may be bumping, but patience and cash donation which I did both, did not help.
I got a lot more response from the request being bumped!

MSI A4000-0092US BIOS MOD REQUEST
Hello there,
I was wondering if it would be possible to get a BIOS mod for the A4000-0092US model version of the CR400 series laptops.
I am interest in any options regarding overclocking, such as FSB/Multipliers/RAM Speed, any Cooling profile options for the CPU, as well as any GPU options, such as changing the frame buffer / shared memory size, or perhaps even GPU core clock if allowed.
Laptop: A4000-0092US (CR400/MSI-1451)
BIOS Version: E1451NMS 1.0W
P.S. is it possible while modding the BIOS to verify that some of the higher-end Core 2 Duo CPUs are supported?
I would like to upgrade my stock T3100 Celeron to a P9600 or T9600 or similar.
Please let me know what features are available, and I'll get my donation to you as soon as possible. Thanks!Quote from: bikramshrestha on 16-May-11, 22:23:07

If I were to change the memory clock and/or advanced memory timings and the notebook doesn't post how do I reset CMOS on this model? Do I have to remove CMOS battery and allow discharge or will the notebook auto recover and post using fail-safe defaults?
Apply improper performance settings can lead to instability or refuse to post.
You have to take out CMOS battery to reset it.
So change anything from there only if you are absolutely sure what you are doing and be sure that machine can handle it.
If you want to change anything from there, test the settings 1st from OS [with memset,Nvidia System Tools, clockgen or whatever]
Also OC at own risk...
Gamble there is not an option as you may need to take out the CMOS battery after failure attempt.
If you want to make performance as AMD Pentium 7 ==> that's another story

Is there any setting in BIOS that can be unlocked that will unlock the GPU core and memory clocks so they can be overclocked in Nvidia System Tools without giving a "The changes made are invalid" error message? Are the GPU and core and memory clocks locked by chipset?
No that can't be done by that way.
I'm not gonna apply permanently GPU OC in BIOS.
So if you gonna OC the GPU, do it from OS like you already did.

GPU Frame Buffer Size or shall I say "Svet's FB".
"Svet's FB" function is secured as i don't left option to be disabled[which will cause black screen at next boot].
So whatever option from "Svet's FB" to pick it can't lead to troubles.

Thanks Svet you rock! All the features have been added that I requested and they work flawlessly

As far as I can tell this modded BIOS is rock solid and I would highly recommend it to anyone. Thanks again! -
Hi Guys ! here's the deal , i just upgraded to a Q9200 and would like to use turbo to OC it , is it possible through a bios mod ?
Or , mod the current GT725 bios so that i can use setfsb , XTU (if possible) and so on.
+ Options to change multipliers , memory frequency , voltage and so on same as a desktop counterparts (if possible).
Only mod the GT725 bios though as there's some SLIC issues using the barebone or other 1722 ID2.
PS: donation is on the menu for a full working version. ThanksThere is a solution:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/hardware-components-aftermarket-upgrades/489140-how-unlock-core-2-extreme-multiplier-windows.html
That is the only program which can change the multi in windows without any BIOS support.
As long as you have an extreme CPU (like the Q9200) you can increase the multi.
This program also lets you change the voltage.
If you need to change your ram frequency and timings use thaiphoon burner.
have fun.. -

MSI GT70 0ND BIOS unlock request for intel vt-x virtualization
Hi, I'd like to request an unlocked bios for an MSI GT70 0ND.
I'm trying to enable intel VT-X virtualization, so I tried the official bioses as indicated here: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=158790.0
However neither of the windows 7 64bit bioses seemed to change anything, although the 30U version reactivated the raid settings which I had set to ahci.
I should also mention that the guide for flashing the bios on the official page indicated that after flashing the bios and waiting 15 seconds with no power and battery out, that there would be a screen saying 'CMOS Checksum Bad' but this didn't happen. It simply turned off again really quick, and restarted with seemingly the exact same bios. However I know it did something because with the 30U version the raid options were re-enabled.
Looking furthur I found this thread: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=160434.0
Indicating that I should request an unlocked bios.
I've already sent svet a donation. The confirmation is : 83957137919249941

MSI 5900 Ultra bios mod help!!!
Has anyone else with the 5900U tried flashing to 5950u? I have tried using MSI 5950U bios but found it "flickered" too much for my liking and now am back to original bios.
I would like to hear fellow MSI users opinions on this particular card and what kind of experiences you've had with the bios flash.
Ultimately I would like to flash my card to a 5950U but would like to hear more opinions with MSI cards before I try again.
All help is greatly appreciated.hi,
See H20 reply about ram speed.
Your guess could be right.
The temp is lower. When you autodetect for speed adjustment, it gets lower speed reflecting its 5900 root (maybe hardware control/lock), but still higher than I can oc the 5900. At default it is 475/950. Manual adjustment reach 503/1.02g, but not stable.
Maybe new nVidia driver can help.
There is another site, http://www.mvktech.net that you may have visited, where there are alternate msiBios (probably the same though). Seems rev2 works for people on some forum.
Notice that not many msiUsers here are onto this topic. Any guesses? Restrictions? -
MSI GT70-0NC BIOS UNLOCK Request for Fan Control
Hello Svet,
I bought my GT70 0NC (Model MS-1762) in the first days of June 2012. Last year my Geforce 675 GTX died and since then it runs with onboard graphics. Since the GT70 runs without a GFX and its fan/cooler, the CPU fan is working full throttle which means it is very loud. I don't plan to buy a new MXM card since they are too expensive and I'd like to save my money for a future computer.
My point: I need unlocked controls of my BIOS to get my annoying main fan down to its actual (useful) rotation speed. As far as I read in these forums it is possible via setting it to onboard as main graphic card or something like that.
Please can you mod me a (maybe newer or newest) BIOS version for this problem? If possible I'd be glad if you leave some instructions what to avoid etc. with it.
BIOS Version: E1762IMS.108 (build date 03/29/2012)
EC Version: 1762EMS1 Ver4.05 (build date 04/03/2012)
The Notebook came with pre-installed Windows 7, but today I use Windows 8.1 on a later bought SSD (the HDD with the recovery sections was built out last year).
I hope, these changings are not a problem.
After you give your go, I will send you a Donation Confirmation Code. (In case please give me further information how much etc.)
Thanks and best regards.yes can be done, with clarify that BIOS can't provide a FAN control [bios can't control the FAN at all]
but yes it can help your FAN to calm down to its normal operation like was originally when your nvidia card was working -

MSI GT60-2OD BIOS UNLOCK REQUEST
Hi Svet,

Request MSI GX640 UEFI boot bios mod
Hello I was wondering if someone could help me re-enable the UEFI Boot option in the latest MSI GX640 bios version E1656IMS.10F
Also is it possible to add SSD support in AHCI mode as well, because currently I can not get an ssd to boot in that mode. It only works in IDE mode for some reason.
I would also like it to be fully unlocked.
Thank you!Alright cool. The reason I asked about the UEFI Boot feature is because it was enabled in the original BIOS, but they disabled the feature in a BIOS update because when the feature was enabled it would cause the system to hang when booting from a CD/DVD.
I bought this Dell AMD HD 7970m GPU for my GX640 and I found out that it is a UEFI card that doesn't have a legacy vBIOS, and after I installed it, my laptop would not post and I got a black screen. I was thinking that if I had that UEFI Boot feature back, then my computer would boot with the GPU installed in it. Please correct me if I am wrong, and please let me know if some sort of BIOS mod would make this GPU work in my GX640.
