Re: MSI PX60 questions

Since I really liked GS60 I did extensive research. The problem there is that fan speed cannot go bellow 48% (~2800 RPM). There is long thread about this on notebookreview. With this fan speed cpu temperature is around 45°c. So my question is, does PE6...

  • MSI package question

    Hello,
This is not really a SCCM question, but I don't really know where to post this question and I thought a lot of MSI geeks are in this forum too.
In my company an in-house tool was developed and is available as a MSI package. The package requires .NET 4.5.
When I deploy this MSI in my environment without any switch I'm receiving this error message.
"This advertised application will not be installed, because it might be unsafe. Contact your administrator to change the installation user interface option of the package to basic"
If I run the MSI with the switch msiexec  /I product.msi /qb /norestart, the installation will start but gives back an error during the installation. Error 1001: Some or all identity reference could not be translated".
I'm clueless what is going on. I have seen the installation went fine with computers which are in production for a longer time. I perform the tests mainly on computers which were freshly imaged. Even I cannot install the tool with a fresh image computer
which have only the OS and .NET 4.5 installed.
Our OS is Windows 7 SP1 64bit ENG with the DE MUI installed.
Do you have an idea what the problem could be? I googled a bit for the error messages but I have not found real help for my issue.
    Thanks,

    1. Create a new local user group with name "Network Service"
    2. Add the localized network service account to the recently created "Network Service" group. Here's a mapping:
    German - NT-AUTORITÄT\NETZWERKDIENST
    French - AUTORITE NT\SERVICE RÉSEAU
Italian - NT AUTHORITY\SERVIZIO DI RETE
Spanish - NT AUTHORITY\SERVICIO DE RED
    maybe this might fix it?

  • Msi 5700ultra questions...

    Hi everyone!
I'm at the time sitting with a geforce 3 ti200 in my chase and will hopefully buy a 5700Ultra from MSI.
Now the main question I'm asking myself is, will the card work properly with my motherboard and the system?
The motherboard I own is a MSI KT4V and the rest of the system is:
    My System:
    Microstar KT4V-L 133FSB
    AMD 2000+ @ 1.67GHz
    2 sticks Twinmos 256mb PC2700 @ 333MHz
    Nvidia Geforce 3 ti200
    2 Harddiscs (IBM Desktar 7200rpm 60GB) (IBM/Hitachi 7200rpm 80GB)
    Samsung CDRW 48X/24x/48X
    Toshiba Floppy drive
    Soundblaster 4.1 LIVE!
OS/ Windows XP Servicepack 1 and all the updates
    PSU: Chieftec 360W
    +5V 35A
    +3.3V 28A
    +12V 17A
    -5V 0.3A
    -12V 0.5A
    +5VSB 2A
    +5V and +3.3V = 220W
    +12V = 204W
Will the MSI 5700ultra work great with my system?
I've seen that several people have had some problems with the card.
I hope you all are helpful!

    yes
if you buy FX 5700 ultra your performance and quality will improve
    I think your bench mark on 3dmark 2001 and 2003 are :
    3d mark 2001  about 6000
    3d mark 2003 about 700
But when you buy a new FX 5700 ultra your bench marks will:
    3d mark 2001  about  12000
    3d mark 2003 abou 3500
then your performance on direct x 8.1 will about 2 times faster
    and
in new games that support direct x 9 your bench marks will about 5 times faster than before and your games will run with very high quality .
if you change your cpu to athlon xp 2800+ barton your bench marks with geforce fx 5700 ultra :
    3dmark 2001 14000
    3d mark2003 4000 - 4500

  • MSI GT683 questions?

Hello all, I recently purchased my first gaming laptop the MSI GT683, here are my specs:
    CPU Intel® Core™ i5-2430M Processor (2.40 GHz)
    - OS Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium (MSI recommends upgrade to Genuine Windows® 7 Professional)
    - Chipset Intel HM67
    - 8GB Memory DDR3 1333 MHz ,Slot : 4
    - LCD Size 15.6" LED 1366x768 resolution
    - Graphics nVidia GeForce GTX 560M
    - Graphics VRAM 1.5GB GDDR5
    - HDD: 750GB HDD (7200rpm)
Ok so I read the sticky, and found some useful information.
My questions are, and please cut me some slack, as I'm not a complete air head with laptops and their insides but am not too clued up on them.
    1. When i get my laptop, whats the first thing i should look to be doing? Updating drivers, firmware?
    2. Also from the sticky i found that MSI have a downloads page with a "Live update 5" which scans your computer for out of date drivers which is very helpful for me, my question is does this scan my laptop for all drivers like, GPU, CPU and others?
    3. Should i look to buy a cooling pad? As I've read a few posts saying it can get a tad hot.
    4. I also read that for the GTX560m to get full performace it needs a 500W power supply, but am is this for actual PC's? As with this laptop i am provided with an AC Adapter 180W. Should i look to be buying a more powerful one or is this not possible?
Honestly, any help would be massively appreciated, Thanks.

Your laptop will come preinstalled with Windows and all required drivers.

Don't use LiveUpdate. If you need to update any drivers, just download them manually. Drivers don't go 'out-of-date' like fresh food. If everything works fine as it is, then you don't really need to update anything.

That's your choice. As long as you keep your notebook clean and free from dust, it should operate within normal parameters.

You're looking at requirements for desktop GPUs. Your notebooks AC adapter will be sufficient, you won't gain anything from replacing it.

  • MSI-6378 Question please....

    Dear all
I have a computer with the MSI-6378 mother board. I'm sure it's very dated, but I would like to increase the RAM which is currently 256MB. Ideally, I would like to increase it to the max which is up to 1.gig?? What would be the best RAM for my PC. If you would want a spec of my PC can you tell me how to get the correct info??? Sorry
Also, I'd like to know exactly how to benchmark the PC to know how well it is performing. If you can help me with these questions I'd be very grateful.
Please accept my apologies if this is in the wrong section and my lack of knowledge on the subject.
    Kind regards

  • New MSI system questions/mistakes?

I built a new system with the K7N2 Delta ILSR.
It's running XP home with all the updates/service packs.
It has the latest MSI drivers/utilities.
    Hardware:
AMD XP3200 Barton R with 400 Mhz FSB (more on this later)
1G of PC 3200 Kingmax Memory.
PS case with a TigerPro PSU rated at 350W (also has front USB2.0 ports)
    SCSI drives (7200 and 10K)/Adaptec 2940 U2W.
    Plextor DVD +/- RW
    ATI 9600SE video
So the first issue (now that I have researched things better... duh!)
    1. This MB doesn't take advantage of the CPU/Memory speed, but seems to run OK at 2200 MHz.     Should I try to overclock to get more performance?
    2.  Is this power supply good enough or am I running on the edge?
Finally, I can't get the !@#$% USB2.0 drivers to install.  I've followed some other recent threads with the same issues and tried the recommendations with the same results... no USB2.0 drivers.  I think this is not allowing my Nomad ZenII drivers to install.
    Thanks for any advice.

Regarding question 1, is Kingmax RAM approved for NF2 mobos (check the sticky at the top of this forum).
About question 2, PSU on the edge?
That depends upon the amperages coming from the rails of your power supply (especially the 12V).  The 12V should >18A to properly power your 'puter.
In reality there are only a few good power supply makers (Antec, Enermax, PC-Power & Cooling).  The others like Qtech, Super Power, Uber Super Power, Macho Power, etc. are junk, relating to their $40 price point.  If you want to save yourself alot of headaches get a >430W name brand power supply, and you'll be good to go.  For reference, my 460W Enermax puts out 32A across all three voltages.  We've seen people in this forum with no-name 500W power supplys which put out 14A on the 12V rail and wonder why they're having problems.
Ok, I'll step off my soap box, OUCH...
    Good Luck

  • MSI 4870X2 questions

    Hello.
    The card - Radeon MicroStar R4870X2-T2D2G-OC 2GB, PCI-E
The problem - Fanspeed is always going to 100% when the core temperature exceeds 76C and goes default when temperature falls to 70C. This goes over and over again.
    What I tried:
      - Setting fixed fanspeed in latest rivatuner - works as long as the temperature doesn't reach 76C, the 76C -> 100%, 70C -> default rpm still happens.
      - Setting fanspeed in graphic cards bios to fixed or changing the automatic mode - works as long as the temperature doesn't reach 76C, the 76C -> 100%, 70C -> default rpm still happens.
      - Setting fixed fanspeed in Catalyst Control Center with Catalyst 8.10 - the 76C -> 100%, 70C -> default rpm still happens.
      - Setting fixed fanspeed to 57% - 60% - The temperature doesn't reach 76% and fanspeed is constant, but its quite loud.
Question - Is it even possible to affect this cards fan behavior? How? Is it some MSIs "feature" or does that mean the card is not somehow ok? There are more people with this happening with their MSI R 4870X2 OC. The only thing I didn't try is to connect the fan to motherboard, the cable is too short. Is it even possible?
    Thank you in advance.

I don't know if the fan behavior is caused by badly configured bios. Maybe flashing the same bios version to both graphic units could fix the problem. But I rather left the slave bios alone. I only tried to set the fan speed through the 1st bios, but it didn't help anyway. There's some things that makes me think those bioses are not ok. The vendor information was originally set to ATI, not to MSI, so whenever I wanted to connect to MSI live server for bios check, it just said my GPU is not from MSI. I changed the vendor to MSI and Life update now regonizes it.

  • MSI GP60 QUESTION

Hello, I have the model GP60 MSI. So my question is that is it POSSIBLE to replace my graphics card? or UPGRADE it?
PS: My graphics card is GT 740m I would like to upgrade it too GTX 880m.

No, it is not possible to upgrade the video card. The video card is integrated into the motherboard. It is NOT a MXM socket like the higher-end notebooks use for the video cards.

  • MSI GF4Ti4400 Question/Problem

    Hey guys,
I just put together my new setup.  Specs are listed below.  I haven't tried any 3D gaming yet, but I wanted to get some inital feedback.  My problem is that when I start up my computer, I get some artifacts on the BIOS loader screen, and the WindowsXP loader screen.  Once I get into windows, everything is peachy if I view at resolutions of 800x600 or 1024x768.  At higher resolutions, the display is chock full of artifacts.  I have yet to install the latest detonator drivers, I'm still just using the XP drivers.  My system does seem to be stable thus far.  Anyone have any comments?  I'll be installing the det drivers tonight and trying some 3D gaming and will update.
    Thanks.
    AMD XP 2500+ "Barton" 1.87 GHz @ 166MHz
MSI K7N2 Delta Mobo (default BIOS)
    350W Power Supply
    MSI GF4Ti4400-TD (I think) 8x 128MB
    512 MB PC2700 Corsair memory
    80GB WD Hard Drive

    Well, things are worse now.
I got home and booted up my machine.  I missed the bios, so I let it boot all the way.  Suprisingly, all the artifacts were gone.  The XP loading screen looked perfect.  So I was optimsitc.  I even tried the 1280 resoltuion I was having problems with before, and it worked beautifully.  I went ahead and installed the latest detonator drivers (45.23, I think) using nVidia's installed.  Then I of course had to reboot.  However, when it rebooted, it was able to POST, and then about the point where the XP loading screen would pop up, the computer kept running, but the monitor went into standby mode, like it had no video signal being sent to it.  I tried restarting, to no avail.  I'm fairly certain at this point that I'm having serious graphics card issues, and might return it outright.
I intend to reseat the memory and video card.  I had minor problems getting the video card in because the pointy end of the bracket didn't want to go in the hole, so that could be an issue.  I also intend to try out my old GeForce256 in the system to back up my faulty video card theory.
    Power Supply Specs:
Brand:  EZ Media (marked for a "P4")
    Model:  PSEZ 350
    DC:  350W
    AC INPUT:  115V/230V  50/60HZ 7/4A
    +3.3 V:  20A
    +5V:  25A
    +12V:  12A
    -5V:  .5A
    -12V:  .5A
    +5.5VSB:  2A
    +3.3V & +5.5 MAX:  150W
I know power supplies are pretty much a crap shoot.  I bought mine at the local Fry's.  It wasn't the cheapest, nor most expensive, but not a brand I was familiar with, either.

  • MSI H87I question

    Hello,
I would like to replace the antennae on my MSI H87I motherboard with a more powerful one since the ones that came with it don't seem to get the job done. Could anyone tell me what the dBi is of the default antennae so I can look for a more powerful one?
    Kind regards,
    djmaster329

I just ordered two (main + aux) 7dBi antennaes. Also included two extension cables with the order in case it still does not work. It has to go through a radiator, wall and 5 meters of air to reach the router. Hope it will be sufficient.
Thanks for your help so far.

  • MSi EasyFace question..

Hi there everyone Now, I have downloaded MSi EasyFace and loaded up EasyFace Manager with no problems. But I when get to the stage where I have to enter my password I have a bit of trouble because I put in my password, and I get to the last 'bit' and the Windows Vista/7 'error' kind of noise appears, and I can't enter any more characters, but my password is incomplete. I would not really like to change my password because it is easy to remember for me and I have gotten used to typing it into the login screen. Does anyone know a way around this, or has anyone encountered this problem as well?
    Thanks,
    T.
Sorry if this post is in the wrong section also.

Don't worry for now. I changed my password to another easily remembered (and luckily shorter) password. But if anyone does find a solution or hack/mod, or whatever, feel free to tell me.
    Thanks,

If I were to change the memory clock and/or advanced memory timings and the notebook doesn't post how do I reset CMOS on this model?  Do I have to remove CMOS battery and allow discharge or will the notebook auto recover and post using fail-safe defaults?
Apply improper performance settings can lead to instability or refuse to post.
You have to take out CMOS battery to reset it.
So change anything from there only if you are absolutely sure what you are doing and be sure that machine can handle it.
If you want to change anything from there, test the settings 1st from OS [with memset,Nvidia System Tools, clockgen or whatever]
    Also OC at own risk...
Gamble there is not an option as you may need to take out the CMOS battery after failure attempt.
If you want to make performance as AMD Pentium 7 ==> that's another story
    Quote
Is there any setting in BIOS that can be unlocked that will unlock the GPU core and memory clocks so they can be overclocked in Nvidia System Tools without giving a "The changes made are invalid" error message?  Are the GPU and core and memory clocks locked by chipset?
No that can't be done by that way.
I'm not gonna apply permanently GPU OC in BIOS.
So if you gonna OC the GPU, do it from OS like you already did.
