I've got:
Motherboard: MSI X99 SLI Plus
Processor: Intel Core i7-5820K
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR4-2400
Power Supply: EVGA 850W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX
It's a new build and I can't get it to post. When I try to turn it on, a red LED located next to the 24 pin ATX power connector comes on and will not go off until I cut the power at the Power Supply. I can't find anything online concerning the red LED. Is it some overvoltage protection? An issue with the memory? I'm at a loss trying to diagnose this. Please see the images below:

I'm having the exact same issue.
My computer was running with no issues for over 1 month and today when i tried to start it this exact issue happened.
The lights on the rest of the motherboard are working (CMOS, Power, OC Genie) but it won't post.
I have tried to reset the CMOS, re-seated and tried various configurations for the RAM, tried both BIOS and OC Genie on and off and the issue remains.
Could this be a PSU issue? If so, would the remaining lights work?
Anyone else had this issue and how did you fix it?

MSI Big Bang XPower Power won't post (d4 debug) (again!)

GeForce 465 Fermi
Corsair Dominator DDR3 1886 6 x 2GB RAM
Intel i7-930 processr
Issue: System powers up for about 30 seconds, the debug indicator gets to d4 (indicating problem initializing the memory per the handbook) and doesn't post. System will remain running however (different from another guy on the forum having a nearly identical problem.)
I've tried rearranging the RAM. If I put a stick in the first blue slot the debug reads E8. I've tried using various single sticks in the first black slot closest to the CPU (all produce D4). I've checked the CPU socket pins to make sure they aren't bent, and I've tried reseating the CPU. I've checked that both 8-pin 12Vs are connected and secure as well as the 24-pin connection. I've tried using three sticks of ram at once in the black slots with no success either. In another thread user HU16E verified on Corsair's webpage that this RAM should be working with this board.
Finally, in another thread a user with an identical processor, mobo, and RAM (only difference on the ram being he has 1600 and mine is 18XX, I think 1886) demonstrates the same exact problem. Our video cards and PSUs differ.
Looking for the next step in determining a likely culprit. It seems odd to me that this set of corsair ram might be incompatible, but that's my current hypothesis because it seems even stranger to me that another user would be having the same problem. The chance of both of us getting faulty motherboards, faulty processors, or a full set of faulty ram seems remote.
Edit: Also did a benchtop test with just the PSU/CPU/CPU Fan/1 Stick of ram in the first black slot, D4 error.

Yes, please give that a try. Use just one stick in the primary black DIMM 1 slot.

Unfortunately, no. If your board is a version 1.1, it should have a current enough bios to at least allow it to fire up with your RAM. Do any of your friends have a DDR3 rig to test your RAM in to make sure all the sticks are good?

If they are from the same manufacturing batch....... hmmm! Possible.
Added: One of the forum users, Aaron, had 4 bad boards in a row. X58 Pro-E I believe they were. Same batch. MSI needs to know right away if a certain batch is having these problems. Have you got a ticket in with them yet explaining your difficulties?

MSI X99S XPOWER won't boot after a Windows 8.1 Update

Hi all, two days ago I was using my PC as normally and Windows needed to restart because of an update from Windows Update. It restarted and won't be able to boot again. I get a 04 debug code (Power on South Bridge Initialization) and I've tried clearing CMOS, without SSD/HDD... and there is no way.
I'm reading something about an Intel drivers update that can modify the firmware, do you know anything about it?

Windows is not corrupted, I've tried that SSD on another computer without problems and in my computer without HDD/SSD and won't boot anyway.
If I'm able to boot with the secondary BIOS, I'll recover the first one by the following steps:

But I have a doubt with the "Important" note because I need to change from safe BIOS to failed BIOS with the PC booted, right? So I'll use the Multi-BIOS switch with the system up...

MSI x99s xpower ac boot issue

Hello,
I am having a problem with cold boot. After shouting down my computer, it cannot start when I press power button.
Sometimes after shouting down fans were still rotating until I turned off power supply.
I was trying to turn on PC without all RAM, without all USB devices, without SDD, and without graphic cards, and it still
couldn't start.
The only way to start my PC is to trying turn it on many times and using Discharge button (also many times).
If it turns on it works good. I can use PC without problems, but if I shout it down, it won't start again, and I have to
make this crazy launching process again.
I do not know what is happening, but I expected more from such expensive hardware...
All components are new (about two weeks).

Hi again. Yesterday I took my brother PC and used his Power Supply - Corsair TX750.
So with his PSU, and mine motherboard PC was starting everytime without problems.
But when I used another motherboard and mine new PSU it also starts everytime.
So looks like PSU: Be Quiet! Dark Power PRO 10 850W and MSI x99s xpower are not compatible.
The problem with Dark Power PRO 10 is that when it starts, I can hear switch inside it.
When I start PC with normal PSU, i press power button and it starts, but when I start with Be Quiet! I press power button, then I can hear switch inside PSU
and then in starts. So the problem is that, when I press power button with MSI x99s and Be Quiet! Dark Power, i cannot hear this switch.
I have no idea what I have do to now

An OC Newbie Try to Break the World Record by Using MSI X99S XPOWER AC

Saw an article on MSI forum and thought it’s quite interested, so here I translate it. Don’t really have the time to translate it word by word, so go check here for the original article if you are interested (but you need to speak Chinese, lol…..).

Long story short, a newbie got inspired by MSI MOA 2014

This newbie is using air cooling VGA & RAM + water cooling CPU to run 4 way SLI, below is the static under normal usage without OC.

Then, he try to use OC Genie buttom push the CPU to Gear 2, CPU 3.7G, RAM 2400, below is the static under this circumstances.

Anyways, after few times of trial, here comes the best combination he can get.

To better show you the effect of using 4 VGA instead of 1, he used Assassin’s Creed Unity and did some comparison as below.
Single MSI GTX980 GAMING 4G: FPS will between 3X-4X, 50 at some points.
If using MSI GTX980 GAMING 4G * 4 without OC, FPS will between 50 – 70, same as what we heard, the improvement is not as much as we thought.
But when it’s under the loading process, it shows 7XX FPS
All in all, here’s his conclusion:
Under OC mode, MSI XPOWER AC’s stability does meet his expectation, and he’s satisfied with the extreme OC kit. “Memory Try It!” function in BIOS make it easier to adjust.
Oh well, it seems like it’s a good product to be expect!

I am planning on purchasing the MSI X99S XPower AC LGA 2011-v3 mobo, using the Haswell Intel® Core™ i7-5820K Processor. I have two questions:
1.) I am going to purchase a crucial 512GB SSD. My question is should I purchase the:
- Crucial M550 512GB SATA M.2 Type 2280 Internal Solid State Drive CT512M550SSD4, or
- Crucial M550 512GB SATA 2.5" 7mm (with 9.5mm adapter) Internal Solid State Drive CT512M550SSD1
If I understand this correctly, the first option (M.2) should be noticeable faster?

The only difference between the both is the M.2 or SATA 2.5" format. Both are using an SATA interface. The M550 in M.2 format can't utilize the extra bandwith of M.2 as it's controler controler is just SATA. So what you will choose is just up to your format preference.

LGA 2011-v3 is a quad channel platform so get a 4x4 GB kit. Single (one stick) or dual (two sticks) channel will slow system performance.

I have just placed an order for the X99S XPOWER motherboard. I just also looked up compatibility for three of my components on the MSI website and they are not on the list and want to see if they are compatible or if I will have issues:

Any guidance will be appreciated on these items. I can still return the above if necessary. I would think they would all work but want to check just in case.

MSi can't test all avilable components in the market so not listed does not mean not compatible. The things you want to get should not make any problems as these are quality brand items that aren't pretty exotic or totally new. The ram is just ddr4-2133 and should therefor not require tweaking to run stable. Just keep in mind to update bios when you get the board.

MSI P67A-C43 B3 won't POST with Full RAM Installed

Hello all,
I recently purchased the MSI P67A-C43 B3 mainboard as a custom build
and have been having trouble with it. I have 16GB of ram for this board
(4x 4GB) and when I have 8GB installed (slots 1 and 3 filled), it POSTS fine.
When I fill ALL the slots for 16GB total, the board won't POST and just
power cycles ON and OFF and ON and OFF, etc...
I have replaced the memory and the PSU and am about to replace the
mainboard, but wanted to ask if anyone might have a suggestion for
troubleshooting before I do that.
Here's what I'm running on the system:

These are the 1.5V Vengeance RAM Modules. Tried installing 2 of the RAM on slots 2 and 4 on their own. System Boots Fine.
Went into the BIOS and changed the voltage applied to the RAM modules from
AUTO to 1.575V. On AUTO it says is applying 1.5V to the 2x 4GB modules.
Installed the full 4x RAM on all slots... and the system just shuts down. Power cycling again.
What do you think here? Bad Motherboard? Can't think of anything else to try... totally stumped!

MSI Neo-fsr motherboard won't post help!!!!!

Okay so I got the parts yesterday and I put it together and when I turn it on it won't post. Not only that but everything seem to be powered up except for the video card the fan isn't spinning. It was a 9700 pro. Then I took my brothers Geforce MX and tried it and it still won't post. I mounted the motherboard correctly it is definitely not grounded to anything. I connected the D-bracket and all four red light show up. But my cpu is brand new out of the retail box. I don't think its the cpu. So any body got any ideas?

Athlon 64 3000+
1 gig OCZ el memory
MSI neo fsr
9700 pro

Msi x99s sli krait edition no post

Hi All,
i have tried to boot my new machine and i am unable to get post or post codes it seems to look as if it wants to post(boot) green powerbutton/reset button
the monitor-light goes green indicating there is signal from the GPU but then goes orange again saying no signal i have pluged in a post speaker in and get no post beeps indicating an issue this is the second motherboard and processor i have tried with no success and the GPU worked in my z77 rig. I will try a different GPU tonight, any help would be much appreciated
i have tried one stick of ram, bios b, inspected cpu pins (visually ok) and different 850 psu all to no avil.

MSI X99S Gaming 7 Won't Boot

Hi -
I just recently purchased an X99S motherboard. I put it all together, and all was fine for about 24 hours. I updated the BIOS and then started running a defrag and left the machine on while I went to work. When I got home, the machine was off. It's not responding to the power button the board or on my case. If I turn the power off on my PSU and turn it back on and hit the power switch, I get a split second flash of lights and then nothing. I initially thought that it was my power supply so I bought a new one. I got that installed and same thing. One thing to note is that the MSI LED up by the 24 pin connector is on red. I've already tried the secondary BIOS and I have removed all of the memory except the DIMM in Slot 7. I haven't yet tried to remove the board from the case yet and tried it on a non conductive surface. I just wanted to get some thoughts on that debug LED that is currently on. I believe the motherboard has just died, but wanted to run it by someone first.

Take it out of the case, place on non conductive surface (wooden table, motherboard box) and run it then. Also try with single RAM stick in every RAM slot.
Try clearing CMOS >>Clear CMOS Guide<<
Also make sure all power connectors are properly fitted in.
What way did you update the BIOS? Also was it successful?

MSI K8T Master2-FAR Won't post

Just bought this board today and installed. System won't post. CPU, video card and PS fans start, CD-ROM spins but that's it! No indication on display that anything's happening. No beep codes.
2x Opteron 246 CPU
1 GB Corsair Registered ECC Ram (2x512) in DIMM slots 1&2

3.3V - .5 - 28V
5V - 1.5 - 35A

Nothing in PCI slots
Tried two different video cards, ATI Radeon 9000 Pro and NVidia GeForce2
Cleared CMOS
If there's a short somewhere, where could it be???

i think you will have to get some thing has far more amps than that on the 12v rail
as both cpu,any modern vga card ,all drives
basically every thing bar ram runs of the 12v rail
enermax 465 has something like 34a 12v
