  • MSI Z97-G55 SLI Ram problem

So I have this motherboard: MSI Z97-G55 SLI  and the following ram dimm: Kingston HyperX FURY 4GB 1866MHz DDR3 CL10 DIMM - Black (HX318C10FB/4)
The problem is that the sistem doesn't boot with that ram. I checked the ram in another sistem and it's good.
The question is what should i do?  Is there any way to make the board use the ram?
    Sorry for my bad english!

Yeah, I currently have a stick of 2gb from Kingmax. It's only for a couple of days till I resolve the problem. I tried to manually put the settings for the Kingston ram (I don't know if I did it correctly) but it didn't work.
Can someone tell me what should I modify in bios?

  • Msi z97 gaming 5 bios update help

Hello I recently purchased the msi z97 gaming 5 motherboard. It was working fine it came with bios version 1.0 and I wanted to update it. I downloaded the latest 1.5 bios from msi website copied to usb flash drive and flashed it using mflash. Computer powers on but black screen wont do nothing. I cleared cmos and battery and still nothing so I am pretty sure its bricked. I am going to store to exchange it for another one but I want to be able to safely update the bios without bricking again. I usually dont update bios unless needed but i need at least 1.2 bios to fully support the devils canyon cpu. Can someone please point me in the right direction? I read about the usb flashing tool in forum but also read that bios+me need to be flashed and I don't know if that program is up to date and will flash both files? I really appreciate it if someone helped thanks in advance.

Also does anyone know if it is dangerous to update the bios with a 4690k devils canyon cpu since it is not officially supported until 1.2? Is that why my first bios flash was bricked? I would hate to go and borrow another cpu just to update the bios but if I have to I will. Sorry for all the questions but I need to get my bios updated and I will not update it until I am sure of all these things. Thanks to anyone who answers these questions.

  • Z97-G55 SLI IRST "accelerate disk" option missing (ssd caching)

greetings, i have a Z97-G55 SLI and i am having issues with SSD caching. the BIOS is set to RAID (no arrays) and the IRST driver is 13.6.0.1002.  i have a 2TB WD2003FZEX HDD with win7sp1 64 on sata port 0 and an unformatted samsung 850 series ssd on sata port 2. i want to use the samsung 850 to accelerate. when i open up IRST in windows, there is no accelerate option tab. if i open up IRST in the option rom while booting using ctrl-i, the option for accelerating is there but it is grayed out and not selectable.
why is the accelerate feature not working?
    system specifications:
    windows 7 sp1 64bit
    HDD: WD2003FZEX (OS)
SSD samsung 830 or 850 pro (for cache) just testing with the 850 for now. i'm gonna use the 830 later.
    MOBO: MSI Z97-G55 SLI

List full spec would help a lot.
SSD acceleration came out was because years ago SSD only had like 64G. This feature actually just put the cache to the SSD. IMPOV, I don't think it would help as you expected for now. I wonder if your system is a fresh install of OS, cuz if yes, I'd suggest just install the OS to the SSD.
i edited my post to list the full spec. i want the OS on the HDD because my nephew will install tons of games that take up lots of space.

However if you need BIOS update prior to have some RAM or GPU working fine (or other stuff), then maybe consider updating to 1.6 and then to 1.9 and finally to 1.B (1.11). I suggest using MFlash (files can be downloaded on MSI's product site, instructions should be included). For Forum Flash tool you need proper files provided (usually) by Svet or Flobelix.
Before attempting to flash, make sure your system is stable!
I downloaded BIOS 1,5 and 1,6 and in both cases i have same issue it stucks on 100% on M-Flash, after this I can normaly shut down pc and it work but witch 1.4 BIOS. I just want know whyi can;t

  • K8N Neo4/SLI Bios Update for a Newbie

This is the first MSI motherboard that I've bought and I love it. I've been wanting to upgrade to the latest bios, but I'm not entirely sure which one to get. I have the MSI K8N Neo4/SLI board, but when I go to the downloads section to get my bios update, I don't see my motherboard listed. I only see K8N Dimamond, K8N Platnium, and K8N SLI. http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/bios/bos/spt_bos_list.php?kind=1&CHIP=Socket%20939%20(AMD%20K8)&ID=2 Which one of these would work on my motherboard, or would none work? If none of these work, where can I find one that will work?
Also, how is this bios update applied? Is it applied in Windows or through a floppy disk? Are there any recommendations over one or the other?
Any help in the matter is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If you fill out your specs in your sig, we can see what you have. You'll probably find your board at the US site here
Also, no need to risk disaster in a bios flash if all is well. There are many stickys on this site re: flashing. It probably needs to be trimmed up a bit .
There are three ways to flash the bios. One is somewhat risky (floppy), another safe (ramdrive), and the last can be unpredictable (LiveUpdate).
I highly recommend the ramdrive or ntfs method as described here
EDIT: another good item to have on hand before you try this is the BIOS SAVIOR

  • MSI Z97 GD65 GAMING bios A dead

I had been using live update for a couple of years now (I had previous MSI boards), but it crashed a couple of days ago whilst upgrading to 2.7. I have switched to bios b which is running 2.0 (I never touched it before so I would have a default back-up available). Anyway, MFLASH doesn't work, if I use the stated method on these forums it just resets after 5 seconds to bios a and then comes up with the usual 3b leading to F2 reboot loop. I tried the forum updater tool, but that doesn't work with my board anyway as there is no bios available on these boards for the Z97 GD65 Gaming. I tried Win98 DOS with FPT, but I get an error come up saying that FPT.exe is not compatible. Is there any other way to restore bios A? I noticed the FPT link on these board has been removed.
Also, Live update tells me that 2.7 is available, and that's what it tried to update to, but when I check the MSI website, it says that 2.5 is the latest version (which is what I already had installed, so basically live update bricked bios A for no reason whatsoever). Yeah, not happy at the moment.
    Any help is much appreciated.
EDIT: Pulled the error log from FPT:
Error 201: [FPT.exe] cannot be run on the current platform.

  • MSI 970A-G46 SLI BIOS for processor

    Hi!
I have been considering to buy a MSI 970A-G46 SLI with a AMD FX-6300 6C 3.5Ghz Black Edition processor.
What i have researched is that some motherboards do not have updated BIOS for AMD FX processors.
So now im wondering, does  MSI 970A-G46 SLI have this updated BIOS for AMD FX processors? or do i need to update it myself with an older AMD AM3 socket processor?
    Thanks alot for the feedback.

I have seen it reported here w/ stock clocks during stress tests. IE: Prime 95 or Intel Burn Test
It has also been seen when doing rendering, Antec spot cools and vrm coolers have been used in the past to enable better overclocking, but I wouldn't.
    Quote
I have seen multiple people online with this and a 125w CPU. 125w cpus are in the cpu support list as well
The board will run with 125 watt cpu's and will work fine for many users, there may however be some issues if stress tests are used or airflow is insufficent.
This is the only downside to AMD using the same socket over and over, some older designs will "work", but weren't designed with the future cpu's in mind.

  • MSI GT60 2PC Dominator BIOS Update RAID0 problem

HI THERE , this is my first topic in msi forum and I hope you can solve my problem
I have the MSI GT60 2PC Dominator, my laptop came with FreeDOS with E16F4IMS.50Y non raid0 bios version (installed only one msata 128Gb), One day i upgraded my Laptop, I installed two more msata 128Gb. Now 384Gb Raid0 hard disk and i installed windows 8.1 64bit (Working UEFI mode).
I flashed the bios yesterday to the E16F4IMS.515 which is the latest one but it seems that it doesn't support the RAID0, i didn't care about that, i installed windows 8 but everyday i'm getting several problems with GPU and that blue screen and its really annoying.
So i tried to upgrade E16F4IMS.715 , But Flash_BIOS_by_UEFI_BIOS_Setup_Utility_e n.pdf this method not supported my laptop (Automatically restart after select bios file.), And i tried too EFI Shell mode bios update. But there is no Afuefix64.edi and FLASH.NSH files in New bios zip file. It has only E16F4IMS.715 file.
Now my question is How can i flash the bios to E16F4IMS.715?
Sorry for my bad English and i thanks for your corporation.

Hello and welcome to the forum!
Sadly there is only 1 person that is able to help you with flashing procedure, but also directing you to the right BIOS file, and it's Svet. You might have to wait a little bit, as you may already know, it's users to users forum, and we come up when we can and if we actually want to.
What way did you flash the BIOS?
I used EFI BIOS utility method. I chose BIOS file and when i click OK button ,  it starts normally after 20-30sec. it doesn't update bios. How ever it works on E16F4IMS.515 (Non-RAID) bios updated successfully. But not working E16F4IMS.715 (RAID0) bios.

  • [Athlon64] MSI K8T Neo FIS2R BIOS Update when? CnQ no workie!

    The MSI K8T Neo FIS2R (MS-6702) hasn't had a BIOS update since 3-4-2005!
I put a Sempron 64 3000+ in my motherboard, and was very disappointed that it is recognized as an "AMD Unknown Processor".  Sure, it works, but one of the reasons I bought it is in the hopes of getting AMD Cool n Quiet to work.  However, apparently the AMD driver can't recognize the CPU due to the old BIOS on the motherboard.
Every other MSI skt 754 board supports Sempron E6 revision already.  Why not the K8T Neo FIS2R?  Where have all the MSI BIOS programmers gone?  I have been waiting 2-months for a BIOS update to support the E6 Semprons.  I have asked and begged MSI Tech Support.  I am tempted to switch to ASUS or some other company that is actually timely with BIOS updates.  Only reason I haven't yet, is this board is everything I want EXCEPT for Cool n Quiet not working.  It's starting to look like there is no BIOS update in sight, so I am very disappointed.
Anyone here work for MSI can confirm there are no plans for a BIOS update?  Because I don't want to wait around for something that's not going to happen.

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply I thought the mods here are MSI staff... I was just kind of hoping there's MSI staff lurking here, seeing what people think of their products or seeing what people complain about.
No, pretty much C 'n Q is the only reason I'm disappointed, but it was something I was really set on getting to work since this is a server that's up 24/7, but isn't utilized but maybe 4hrs out of a given day.  I could reduce frequency and voltage, but unlike C 'n Q, it won't automatically increase speed and voltage based on demand - which is something I want since although it's a server, I also use it as a regular PC as well.
I've even tried the 2.33 beta BIOS with no change, and even found a 5.52 BIOS in their BIOS testing directory.  I guess that BIOS was for a different kind of 6702, although I had pulled out the peripheral modules with AMI's MMTOOL and they looked the same as the existing BIOS, but that BIOS killed my motherboard so it couldn't have been for a regular 6702.  I had to desolder the BIOS chip with a heat gun, reprogram the old BIOS back on it with an EPROM programmer, and solder in a socket.  I guess that shows my dedication to get C 'n Q working!
