Hi All,
While creating the multiprovider, its asking for assignment of infoobject.
I have one DSO and one cube in the MP. Say for example,g/l account is present in both the data target.
Now tell me which one to choose. If select g/l account in DSO alone what will happen or cube alone what will happen.
Hope you understand my question.
I want to know the use assigning the infoobject.

Multi provider is virtual, it does not contains any mappings or any thing .so u have to specify the objects which u want in the reporting purpose. in that way identification is importent.
in ur case drag two IO and assign from both.not to forget pick up atleast one key figure from both info providers.
Check each and every info object assignment at right click of the perticular object.Use All at the assignment screen for the quick identification

Can anyone please tell me how I can find the characteristics assigned to a dimention. Can I see that information in Infocube-Change or is there a transaction code to find?

Hi Sabrina,
You can surely look at it in InfoCube > Change...have you tried out the Graphical assignment, it looks better. Also youcan try out transaction LISTSCHEMA.
Another way though roundabout is through SE11 > CUBENAME > F4. Then pick a table and Display.

Multiprovider characteristics

Hi,
I would like to add characteristics in the structure of a multiprovider.
The problem is that the characteristics that I would like to add are not characterics in the infocubes of the multiprovider, there are just navigational attributes of the characteristics. (And I musn't add them in the infocube characteristics.)
Consequently, they do not appear in the multiprovider template and I can't add them in the multiprovider structure.
Have you any idea that could help me to solve this problem ?

Hi,
If they are defined as nav attributes in Cube, you can have them as Nav attributes in MultiProvider as well.
If they are Nav attributes of characteristic, define them as Nav attributes at Infocube level also..Then you will be able to defined them as Nav attributes at MultiProvider level.
go InfoProvide maintainance>Nav attributes>Here you have to enable 'nav attributes check box ' to make them Nav atributes at cube level.
Activate InfoProvider.
Then go to multiProvider maintainance>Nav attributes> here you can see the all Nav attributes of underlying cube-->enable nav attributes here also..
You will see Nav attributes by clicking 'Navigational attributes' push button in InfoProvider/multiProvider maintainance. Not under 'Template'

Printing material characteristics assigned to class 001

Hi
i am working on printing material characteristics.
i am using vc_I_GET_CONFIGURATION FM to get all the characteristics associated to the material.
now i want to print the changes in the bottom under the label Fields changed/Modified.
if i change any characteristic value(s) and save the form and issue output i need to print the form and bottom i need to print the characteristic that is changed.
may i know how can i capture these fields? my characteristics are assigned to 001 class and hence data is not stored in tables...
let me know if there is any solution to work around...

Recently We Configured Batch Management in SD, and Batch is determining in Sales order, delivery and Billing. Its working fine.
Issue-1: While posting stock (Quality server) with moment type 561, production date entered manually but system not calculating Expiry date automatically, i maintained Total shelf Time and Min. Rem. Shelf time.
Issue-2: In sales order I want determine batch as FIFO Method, in present system it will consider LIFO method,

Material Master Characteristics Assignment

Hello,
I would like to maintain characteristics for selected materials; the idea is to provide a dialogue in which the characteristics an be maintained and saved.
For this I defined a sub-screen in which I called the screen for the character maintenance (same from the material master):
call subscreen subscreen_chars including 'SAPLCTMS' '4000'.
The Screen 4000 in program SAPLCTMS will be called as sub-screen; but only a few characteristics will be displayed.
Before I call the screen 4000 I think there are some preparations necessary, such as filling buffers, etc.
Does anybody have experience with this handling?

The sub screen is a part of a bigger application; the application itself needs to get the characteristics and post the data.
I'm looking for a kind "interface" to set my data to the program SAPLCTMS; in PAI of my screen I would like to get the entered character values.
Is there any function module within program SAPLCTMS that can be used to get/set the characteristics data?

Combining 2 nav.ATTR into one

Dear Experts,
I have the following problem:
In the InfoCube we have 2 characteristics with the same nav. ATTR (0coorder and 0costcentr, nav.attr is profit_ctr).
Data records are loaded from two sources (orders and costcenters).
I need to combine both nav.attr - meaning to combine records on the level of profit_ctr (nav.attr) to be display in the same line. Records from orders do not have costcenters, records from costcenters do not have orders.
Is this possible in the BEX or with MultiProvider?
I do not want to change loading procedures or change InfoCube !

just an idea, not sure if this works.
Try to create the multiprovider based on your infocube.
In the definition of the multiprovider characteristics assign for the profit_ctr both the nav.attribute of 0coorder and 0costcentr. The query should combine the records with the same profit_ctr then.

How to change the characteristics of a Batch

Dear All,
We have maintained a batch sort sequence based on Batch Manufacturing date.
But now customer wants the batch to be sorted out based on Batch Number.
How to change the Characteristics from Batch Manufacturing date and Batch Number?
Please do suggest.
For example, we have two characteristics assigned to the Class One is Manufacturing date and another is Batch Number.
How system will sort out a batch based on these two logic.

Hi Mullai,
I hope you know what do you mean by "Dependencies" in variant configuration. These are created for automatic update of characteristic values. If you want to delete the characteristic from the class, please do teh following.
1. Find out that there are any dependencies assigned to this characteristic. If so remove the assignment
2. Then you have to check if this characteristic is used in any dependency in the code. If so, find the implications of the same.
In case, you dont know what is dependency, may be they are not used in your project. In this case, you can just remove the characteristic from the class.
It has got one effect.
At present, a configured batch will have this characteristic. If you go to the batch master in change mode, then the old classification will be replaced by the new classification. So the deleted characteristics will not be available to you anymore. I hope that is fine with you. If this is fine, then you dont need to worry about removing the characteristic from the class.

Use of Dimensions in Multiprovider?

Can any one let me know while creating Multiprovider,why we should again select the infoobjects(from sub cubes) in to Dimensions(in MP)?Is it necessary?what are the Pros and Cons of this concept?

Hi James,
The dimensions have no significance in the multiprovider, since during the query execution the data is fetched from the data targets involved int he multiprovider.
What I normally do is create one dimension for each of the data provider in the multiprovider and include all the characteristic's of that data provider in that dimension. The common chars are included in the first dimension and the next dimensions will have only the chars that are unique to that data provider.
In toto the number of dimensions will be equal to or less than the data providers included in the multiprovider. The query performance will be decided based on the basic cubes dimensions and not based on the dimensions of the multiprovider.

Function module to get material characteristics and coresponding value

I have got one problem...when we go to t code MM03..we select the views for a specific material for Basic Data1,Basic Data2 and Classification..in classification we get the material description and its corresponding values...
These values we receive through specific class and its corresponding object....I want some Function Module which will allow me to receive the description and corresponding value for the material which will automatically retrieve the data for that material using the class and object...
Please help me to sort this problem...

1) CLAF_CLASSIFICATION_OF_OBJECTS and
2) Bapi_objcl_getdetails.
for first one it gets the all characteristics assigned to the class even though the values are not assigned
in second case onle the vlaues assigned characteristics will get

Virtual Provider on top of a Multiprovider

Can we create a Virtual Provider on top of a Multiprovider?

hi,
multiprovider contains logical data, and same as virtual info provider as well. in the info provider screen if u go and try to create virtual infoprovider, ofcourse you can, you can copy from multiprovider.

Problem making an infoobject navigation attrib in multiprovider

Hi
I have a bespoke infoobject ZPNLATTRB assigned as a navigation attribute of 0ACCOUNT master data. I could successfully switch this infoobject as nav attrib in the cubes and dso. However when I tried to switch this infoobject as nav attrib in the multiprovider (containing those cubes and dso), I received an error 'Assignments for InfoObject 0ACCOUNT__ZPNLATTRB have not yet been maintained'.
The Diagnosis says:
The MultiProvider definition contains an InfoObject that has not been assigned to the relevant InfoProviders.
The Procedure says:
Choose Identification and highlight the assignment for InfoObject 0ACCOUNT__ZPNLATTRB, or remove the InfoObject from the MultiProvider.
I don't reckon I need to map the nav attrib ZPNLATTRB as its value is derived through 0ACCOUNT.

Yes, thanks, I've managed to assign the nav attrib ZPNLATTRB in the multiprovider.. it took me some time to look for the 'assign'.
I have a further question relating to this. In my multiprovider I have included 2 cubes and an infoset and in this infoset I've included a write-opt. DSO. I had to create an inner join between my DSO and the 0ACCOUNT master data in order for the ZPNLATTRB to appear in the multiprovider for assignment between the infoset and the 2 cubes for this nav attrib.
I'd like to avoid using inner joins in my infoset as it slows down reporting. Do you know of a better way to design this model?

User should not be able to edit characteristics Value

Hi Friends
I have requirement where in a user creates a document with Two characteristics assigned to that Document.
Say CHAR1 and CHAR2.
When he creates DIR , He assigns value to these characteristics
CHAR1 = 666454
CHAR2 = 55333
No I want No other user to be able to change the values assigned to both CHAR1 and CHAR2.
Can this be possible.

Hi Mangesh,
I think the easiest way to find an authorization object which prevents users to edit characteristic values would be to made an authorization trace in transaction ST01. For further information please see the following link:

This trace lists all checked authorization objects and you should be able to identify a suitbale object for restricting edit permission for classification values.

Mapping MDS Characteristics to KM Properties through DMS Connector

Does anyone who who to map individual characteristics attached to a document in DMS to properties in KM using the DMS Connector for KM?
Installing the DMS Connector for KM creates a set of DMS-specific KM propeties. There is a property named dmsrm_characteristics that contains the characteristics assigned to a document in DMS. However, it appears to concatenate all characteristics into this 1 KM property. Does anyone know if there is a way to split these charateristics into seperate KM properties?

I installed the DMS once, but my experience how to use it is poor.
In the Backend ( Transaction CV01N i think,) you can store search variants using the prefix you have defined for the DMSRM (default is KM_<theName>). This variants can be used to filter out several documents. There must be a way to give authorizations on them. Maybe you will have to use a security manager, i don't know.. in our case the user persistence (authScheme) was SAP-System an no TREX involved.
It is not much, but maybe it helps...
