Re : My ipod nano 3rd generations won't turn on . ? Help

My ipod nano wont turn on . itried to change it but still nothing . Can someone help me .?

Try resetting it, hold down the center button and the menu button at the same time for about 15-30 seconds or when the apple appears let go of both buttons. If this does not work, do the same thing while it is plugged into the computer or outlet.

  • Ipod nano 3rd generation won't turn on

iPod nano 3rd gen.   Suddenly stopped working, Should I assume it is shot or anyone have any solutions.
Was recently working, then a white screen and static.   Wont power on, and iTunes does not recognize it.

    Howdy maggie63,
It sounds like your iPod nano will not turn on, or respond to anything. I want to recommend 2 things here.
First, reset the iPod with these steps:
    Reset
    To reset your iPod:
    1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
    2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
    Tip:
If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.
If that does not work I would next try to restore the iPod with iTunes:
    1. Make sure you've reinstalled the latest version of iTunes.
    2. Open iTunes, and then connect your iPod to your computer.
    3. After a few moments, it will appear in the source list in iTunes. If the iPod's display doesn't show "Connected" or "Do not disconnect" you may need to put the iPod into disk mode to proceed.
    4. Select your iPod in the source list and you will see information about it appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes windows.
    5. Click the Restore button. You will be prompted with one or more restore options that may prompt iTunes to automatically download of the latest iPod Software. The 4 possible restore options are:
Restore Option 1: Restore - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod.
Restore Option 2: Use Same Version - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod, even though a newer version is available.
Restore Option 3: Use Newest Version - Restores with latest iPod Software version on your computer.
Restore Option 4: Restore and Update - Restores with latest iPod Software version on your computer.
    6. A message will appear prompting you to enter an administrator's name and password.
    7. A progress bar will appear on the computer screen indicating that the first stage of the restore process has started. When this stage is completed, iTunes will instruct you to leave iPod connected to your computer to complete restore.
    8. During the stage 2 of the restore process, the iPod will show an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remains connected to the computer or iPod Power adapter during this stage. Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see since the backlight on the iPod display may be off.
    9. After stage 2 of the restore process is complete and the iPod is connected to the computer, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear asking you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences similar to when you connected your iPod for the first time.

Doublechecking something. Are you still back at SP2 for your XP? Or do you have SP3 in place?

  • My iPod touch (3rd generation) won't turn on and neither iTunes nor windows will recognize the device!

Today my iPod touch (3rd gen) fell onto the floor and the screen turned black. It was almost put of battery anyways so I wasn't exactly worried.... But when I tried to turn it back on it wouldn't. It wouldn't hold a charge. I tried hooking it up to the computer and windows pops up a message like "cannot recognize device" and it doesn't show up at all on iTunes. I've tried holding down the both the home and power buttons for 9 seconds. I've tried to enter DFU mode. Nothing seems to work. I could really use some help because I DONT want to buy a new one and I'm definitely not under a warranty. HELP!!!!

    Try the remaining items of:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order. The appointment is free.

  • My ipod nano (3rd generation) won't sync to my computer anymore. I share the computer with other family members and there ipod's sync fine to their iTunes, but mine won't work. How do I fix it? :)

    .

Why won't it sync anymore? Does iTunes still see the device? If so, are you getting any error message during the sync process?  Need a bit more detail in order to assist you.

  • IPod Nano 3rd generation: Only plays songs recently downloaded to my iTunes Library

iPod Nano 3rd generation (Version 1.1.3) for Windows
Any song that I download onto the iPod shows up in its library, but when I try to listen to the songs, they won't play.
The only songs the iPod will play are those that have just recently downloaded onto my iTunes library.
If the new songs aren't on the iPod, then when I try to play a song, the "now playing" screen shows up, not showing any songs, and the playlist says "playing 1 of 0"

    Hi LeviBC,
It sounds quite frustrating having your iPod only play certain songs, I am quite sure I would be unhappy in similar circumstances. Let's see if we can get you up and running.
If you are having issues with your iPod nano (3rd generation) not playing some of your music, I would suggest troubleshooting using the steps found on this page -

  • Ipod Nano 3rd gen. won't allow videos to be synced

  • I am getting rid of my Ipod Nano 3rd Generation.  How do I delete my name and make sure all personal info is gone?

I was able to restore my Ipod Nano 3rd Generation back to factory settings, but the ipod is still personalized with my name.  How do I remove or change that?  And, how can I be sure all music, personal info is completely gone because I am giving it to someone?

There is a rather large database in Apple Support for all iPod Nano models, though
a quick look through did not provide a simple direct answer to the question of how
to prepare an iPod Nano for a new owner, or for a new user; also to de-personalize
the product so it would not be locked or broken.
•iPod Nano - How To - Apple Support: (main)
    https://www.apple.com/support/ipodnano/how-to/
This kind of question comes up in similar form across most iDevice sections; usually
after someone has bought or was given one, and it won't work. At least you are in
the right track, to try & clear it ahead of a problem, so a new owner can use it.
    Be sure to deauthorize the unit in the process of removing your identification from it;
and also check to see how the AppleID affects the next owner experience. It will.
There should be a way to accomplish most of this within iTunes from a Mac.
    Rather again, too general:

  • IPod Nano 3rd Generation Battery

I recently won a sweepstakes that included a iPod Nano 3rd Generation.  The iPod was brand new in the box.  The problem is the battery does not hold a charge.  I have left the iPod connected to my MacBook Pro overnight to charge.  When I disconnect the iPod, it instantly turns off.  I know these iPods were produced several years ago.  Am I missing something obvious here or is it just not working because the battery has set idle for 2+ years?

I've run diagnostics. Can't find device. I've tried resetting. The toggle has been turned on and off.

Cable works fine on my other iPod. Reset by pressing menu and center button together for 6-10 seconds. Left it to charge for many hours. Started acting up while running. Suddenly the music stopped playing but my Nike + was still working for the rest of my run. Took it straight it home and plugged it in to the wall to recharge since the battery was fairly low. Looked like it recharged ok but then screen went blank and now does it not show up on iTunes, does not seem to recharge by the wall charger (apple wall charger plugged into a surge protector in India). I have turned the hold switch off and on many times.
Sounds like a repair issue, which is not easy to do in India :(
