My laptop is not even a year old yet, it has been working fine until today.
I switch it on and the Toshiba bit comes up then after that its just a black screen, and then it says
realtek rtl810ie/8102e pci-e ethernet controller v1.07 (080320)
pxe-e61 media test failure , check cable
pxe-mof exiting pxe rom.
no bootable device - insert boot disk and press any key
I dont have a boot disk or anything! Does anyone no what this means?

Every notebook has specific boot order and in this boot order are different hardware components like optical disc drive, hard disc drive or LAN.
The boot up is always defined in BIOS settings and there is, for instance boot order HDD, LAN and ODD. If notebook cannot start from HDD ist starts from second defined device (LAN) and go on.
Boot order in your Satellite notebook is not known to me but somehow it stays on option to boot-up from LAN device and you can see this message on the screen.
Start your notebook again and press F2 several times to enter BIOS settings. Set it to default and try again. if the same happen start notebook one more time but this time with F12 to enter boot options. With up and down arrows chose HDD device and press enter. If HDD is OK operating system should load up. If not there is some problem with preinstalled OS.
Please test it and send some feedback.

Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.

When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu.

HELP! laptop wont load past Welcome and warranty out

I have an HP Pavilion g6 with Windows 7 Home OS. I have no repair disc/install disk as I bought it brand new with the OS already installed and ready to use. I bought it in Fall 2011, so my warranty is out and I can't get help from Tech because they want to charge me just to talk to me over the phone without a warranty.
My laptop will load until the Welcome screen, and I have seen many posts already about this issue, however they are all able to load in Safe Mode and/or still have their warranty. I cannot load in Safe Mode. System Tune-up will not complete, stops halfway through as Failed, Startup and Run-in tests also fail. I already had problems back in March this year and had to restore to factory settings.
What boggles me most, is it was working fine until 2 a.m. this morning, when i stopped playing Fallout NV - was offline, have not connected it to internet for some months now. However, after the game I unplugged my laptop and took it upstairs and plugged it in in my room, and since then it hasn't worked. I can get to the boot options (Esc, F2, F8, F9, F10, F11, F12), but unable to do system repair due to no disc, and even though when I restored it to factory settings in March and made sure to do a Restore point at that time, the OS is not finding that restore point at all. It is not acknowledging any external hard drives I attach so I can do a new restore point. I don't want to just lose my photos - they are the only photos I have of my children (i think this is why most of us don't want to just restore to factory settings all over again).
Is there any way to do get it up and running again without losing literally EVERYTHING? I don't give a crap about the games or apps, those can all be installed from Steam later on again. But i don't want to lose my photos and baby vids and documents.

Here are a couple of methods you could try to back-up your existing data.
1. One possible way to try and retrieve your files from a non-booting drive is to follow the process detailed in the link below. The Ubuntu operating system CD you create can run from the CD alone ( ie it doesn't have to install on the Hard Drive ) and I've often found it to be successful in retrieving data even from a failing Hard Drive. When you've created the CD, follow the instructions and see if you can back up your existing files.

2. Another option would be to remove the HDD, place it in an external caddy - an example is on the link below - connect this to another PC and see if you can access your files.

New satellite laptop wont view in full screen while on internet

I have a satellite L305-S5919 and when im trying to watch a video or something i can watch it but when i try to view it full screen i get a blank page but i can hear audio. Im not quite sure if its an internet thing or its my laptop. I had a desk top first and i could view things on the full screen. But when i switch it to the laptop i have to watch it on the regular window. please help thank you

Assuming you're using Adobe's Flash Player, there's a bug in it for Vista.
While the video is playing, right-click on it and click Settings. Uncheck the box for Enable hardware acceleration.

My Satellite C wont load Windows - error code 0xcoooooe9

Hi,
get a status error come up when the laptop is turned on. The error code is 0xcoooooe9, windows does not load up and the diagnostics tool does not work.
Tried to recover to factory settings but this crashed out saying partition could not be created and only had an option to turn the laptop off.
Was bought from argos's ebay store less than 12 months ago and should still be under warranty but can not find out if it is on here.
Any help please ??

On this virtual way it is not easy to say what the problem is but maybe HDD make problems.
I recommend you to contact nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help. They can check it.
At first clarify the warranty and I hope they will fix it for free.

Laptop wont load warranty expired a month ago

i have an HP 2000 notebook pc. product id is D1E81UA#ABA. serial # [edited by Moderator]. as mentioned above my warranty expired about a month ago. when trying to load my laptop i recieve a screen that says preparing automatic repair. a few seconds later it goes blank. im not sure whats happening. i was recieving a blue screen telling me error code 0xc000185 but now its just going to a black screen. help please

My laptop wont load firefox, it keeps saying my proxy server could not connect firefox. Why is this, it was working earlier.

Every time i try to open firefox my laptop tells me "The proxy server is refusing connection". This has never happened before. I updated my norton antivirus and firefox has not worked since.

In Firefox 3.6.4 and later the default connection settings have been changed to "Use the system proxy settings".<br />
You can find the connection settings in Tools > Options > Advanced : Network : Connection<br />
If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then select "No Proxy"

Satellite L300 wont load up

Hi all,
Ive got a L300 that wont open up, Ive tried to do self repair but it gets half way through and it just freezes. Ive tried the re-boot discs but Ive had no joy.
Now Ive taken it to a computer repair shop who said that the hard drive is defective.
What do you guys think is that correct?

If you were not able to install OS using original Toshiba recovery DVD it is possible that HDD is defective.
HDD exchange is not complicated and you can do this alone.
At the bottom side you will see HDD cover. Remove it and gently move HDD to the side and then you can remove it completely.
Buy the same one, built in HDD caddy and put back into the laptop.
Use recovery disc again and install OS.

Help, my laptop wont load

My keyboard on laptop started acting weird, I updated the driver, still weird, I tried to change the language, nothing. I restored, turned off, then turned it on and without pressing anything, it typed a password and deleted it, I tried to type but nothing, restarted and it helped at me and turned itself off. I turned it on again, same thing happened.
I need help with it as it was expensive present from my brother, I need it to work, please help,

Hi I am trying to wath the live NRL. I joined on the website but all I can do is listen to the abc radio option or watch highlight replays.... The "watch live" text does nothing. Syncing shouldn't trouch you photos unless you have photos in a Photo Library album. These would be photos that were synced to your phone from your computer. If you do have any, you'll need to use an app like PhotoSync to transfer them to your computer prior to syncing.
If you prefer to backup your camera roll photos prior to syncing, open iTunes and go to Preferences>Devices and check "Prevent...from syncing automatically". Then connect your phone to your computer and import them as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.
Then, to minimize data loss, follow the steps in this user tip: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141. To follow the steps, first open iTunes and go to View>Show Sidebar. Also, Transfer Purchases is now located in File>Devices.

Satellite L10-151 wont load XP or recovery disc

I have a Satellite L10-151 model and it wont load windows. Every time I try and start it, it says operating system not found. When I put the Toshiba recovery discs in that came with the notebook and I also bought a windows XP disc that wont load either.
I have also taken the hard drive out and put another one in and it works fine so it must be the hard drive but dont no what.
I have also tried installing windows 7 that doesnt work either :s
Please help? The HDD has everything on it.

In my opinion the CD/DVD drive cannot read the inserted disk and therefore its not possible to boot and to install the new OS.
It could be an problem with the CD/DVD drive or the ODD is not able to handle this one recovery disk
Try to copy/burn the recovery disk using another computer.
Possibly the notebooks CD/DVD drive would be able to handle this second disk and you could be able to install the Win XP
From my experience this helps in many times especially if the issue is related to the ODD

Yesterday my Toshiba Satellite C850D laptop with Windows 8.1 did an update when I turned it on, it took a while and once it got to 100% it said it ran into a problem and needed to restart which it did with no worry. It worked fine all day, didn't miss a beat. Then this morning when I turned it on the normal Toshiba logo popped up but then a greyish coloured screen with a flickering small line in the top left hand corner appeared and it wont load further then that screen.
Every button on the keyboard I press makes a loud beeping sound. I have pressed f2 and f12 as it tells me too under the Toshiba logo to no help. Could this be from the update? Also can someone please try and help me?

I would recommend you to start the system repair function.
Power up the unit and press F12.
Now you will see different bootable devices as well as the HDD recovery.
Choose this option.
