One way is to highlight, then File > duplicate.
With the duplicate, File > Save and rename it.

Error while uploading document with same name in Document library

Hi,
Whenever I try to upload document with same name in Document library it throws an error. I know its a default behavior but is there any way so that I can upload documents with same name or can we append some unique id with title of the document?

No, unfortunately this is not possible. SharePoint treats the file name as the primary key identifier for a document so if you try to upload a second document with the same name it will assume this is a new version of the file. If you have versioning enabled
on the document library, it will add this as a new version. If not, it will overwrite the original file with the new one.
If you need two documents with the same name, you will have to either place them in different folders within a document library or in different document libraries.

I am unable to open documents ending with .doc (rather than docx, which I can open). The error message states "[name of document]" is being used by "another user." Do you want to make a copy? Help!!!

Did you recently reinstall the OS then copy all your files back over? Do a Get info on one of the documents and see if your current UserName is listed and has Read & Write permissions. If not select the Documents folder and check that for Read & Write permissions for your UserName. If it doesn't have R & W permissions Add it so it does.

See my updated answer. The double quotes need to be removed. Also note that you need to use $item.File.Name
and not $item.Name to get the name of the files.

How to add document name and document namespace to xml mail sender msg

Hi,
I have set up a sender mail CC that accepts messages already in XML format. However, the messages are missing the document name and document namespace. I am trying to use MessageTransformBean to add these to the message payload. However the examples I've found so far all talk about converting plain text coming in. When I used convertionTpe -> SimplePlain2XML it messed up the original content with unnecessary xml tags.
Can someone please tell me how to insert the document name and namespace into the payload without converting the original xml content? Thanks in advance.

Dont think there is a way.
As the source is a XML, why dont you create the MessageType with the same name and namespace as the XML file in the email.

Are you just asking because you want to know, or do you have a problem you need to solve? I don't know how to write a program, but I think what your are describing is not an unusual thing for a program to do. The * tells you that changes have been made since the last save, and the program reserves a portion of memory for undo functions. I suppose a coder could tell you how it works, but I don't think it would help an average user to know, but that's just my opinion.

Any answers? I dont want all my documents to be Blank, Blank 2, and so on!!

You should hopefully just need to tap on the name of the document when you open Pages.
When you open the app, you should see all of your documents displayed. Under each one is the name of the document. Tap on the name and that one document should zoom to the centre of the screen and you can edit the name. If the document was previously called "blank" then the name field will appear empty, allowing you to type in the name you want. If it already had a name, then that name will be displayed there.
Tapping on edit allows you to make copies of a document or delete things rather than renaming them.

I am new to Pages. I want to put different letters (documents) into a folder - is it possible to name each document within a folder?
Also, I have blank headed paper that I then pull in to use for letters but I then want to retain the blank headed paper afterwards. Is there any way of doing that as it appears that once I have used the headed paper for a letter, it gets filed as the new letter and I lose the blank headed paper.

With your document open in the edit mode:
Tap Documents (upper left) > When the screen changes to the Thumbnail Document View, Tap Edit > Select your document > Tap the Document Name > Change the Name > Tap Done.
This simple task and many others are well explained in the Pages Help File found in the Tools Menu (wrench) - well worth the reading.

How to add folder name to document library view

Using Project Server 2010.
We have a set of standard folders on each of our project sites for Requirements, Development, Testing, etc. Currently, we display this library like you would see in File Explorer - you see a list of folders at the top, double-click on a folder
to drill down, etc.
I want to display these same documents as a straight list of all documents - not grouped into folders - but with the folder name displayed next to it (sort of like an attribute). I can create the list view easily by selecting the "Show all items
without folders" option in the view settings; however, the containing folder name is not available as a column name.
Is this possible?

I do not think there is an out of the box way to do this.
The immediate solution that comes to mind is using a workflow, that runs everytime a document is uploaded/item created, which may be too much for your scenario.

File name of Document stored through OAAD

Hi Experts,
We are using tcode - OAAD to store any document against employee.
Following are the inputs provided to the system while storing the
document.
1. Business Object - The value used in our case is "PREL"
2. Document type - The value used in our case is "HRIRESUME"
3. Personnel Number
4. Infotype number
5. Date of origin
6. File path - path from the presentation server
We can display the document using tcode PA20.
Every time the system generates a different file name.
We are not able to find out the actual file name which was specified
while entering the file path.

Automatically Create Hyperlink Using Product Name in Document Text

Hi,
I've recently been told that all the product names in our PDF documents from here on out have to link to their product pages on our web site. This is a problem because any given document could contain dozens or a hundred references to products. Before I try my first attempt at creating an Indesign Script (on something that sounds kind of complicated for a novice like me) I was wondering if there any existing scripts out there that do something like the following:
Find all instances in the text of product names beginning in AD and ending in either a number (digit) or the lowercase letter "x."
Style those instances in a predefined URL character style (basically styling it in blue).
Create a hyperlink to the product page using the product name found in the text. Taking the product name--AD4056, for instance--and creating a hyperlink by adding http://www.corpsite.com/ to the front of the URL and adding the product name to the end.
So the end result, for example, would be that a product name like AD4056 would be set in the URL character style, and would have hyperlink added that, when in the exported PDF, would take you to the product page, http://www.corpsite.com/ad4056.
It seems like it might be a relatively common problem, so I'm hoping that someone out there may have a resource already available. Oh, I'm on Indesign CS5 on a PC. Would prefer Javascript so our vendors could use it on a Mac, but PC-centric is OK too. If not, I'll get to crackin' on making it myself.

Here you are. As you see, it's quite complicated -- InDesign needs a destination URL, a virtual hyperlink, and an instance of this virtual hyperlink. All in all it took me a couple of tries before I got it right. (It didn't help your example URLs don't exist yet )

Set unique file name for document library in SharePoint 2013

I have document library in the sharepoint 2013 with two dropdown fields-dept name,dept id.
My requirement is to create a namiing convention for each file uploded in the document library.
So the naming convention should be "deptname-deptid-filename-Id".
I tried this naming convention using workflow as below-
In this case ,first I attach the file and then it asks for dept name & id,Whwn i input these value,it shows error message as this file is modified by you at this point of time.On cancel it saves the attached file but does not save the deptname and dept
id.
please help if any idea or suggestion.

The only way I've ever seen this work while adding a new file is to use an Event Reciever. Build an Event
Receiver that fires whenever a file is added and have the code change the name of the file from whatever the user titled it to the naming convention you are using.

SEARCH RESULTS NOT SHOWING THE NAME OF DOCUMENT

When I search for a document on the top level, the results in my case are relevant but they do not display the document name, meaning I have to go into the document to check if it is the one I'm looking for. For some reason the name of the file is displayed
in results as the first line of the document. I use a document template for letters meaning that the search results gives as list of documents that all have the same name displayed. This renders the search function almost useless as all the results are showing
the same name. Is there a way to change the results page to display the name of the document??

Based on your description, my understanding is that you want to show search results by document name instead of the Title.
