Re-name my shuffle

This may be a dumb question. My son gave me his shuffle. How would I change the name of the shuffle from him to me? I have no manual and check the manual online, could not find info. Thanks for any help

If the shuffle works like other iPods, simply click on the iPod name over on the left in iTunes and change the name like you do for a file. That's it.
Cheers!

  • PLEASE IGNORE LAST QUESTION RE:  2nd Generation IPod Shuffle Connection

    Let's try that again. I currenty have a 2nd generation ipod shuffle that works on my laptop just fine...most of the time. My roomate, however, is having a lot of problems trying to get her's to work on her desktop pc. I need to know if she can use my laptop with her IPod Shuffle as well. I think she can, I just do not have a clue how to do it. Any help with step by step instruction would be great! Normally I Know just about everything with Windows. This one has me confused. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!

    You select one or more songs in the Music library. Then you click-hold-drag the song(s) and drop onto the shuffle under DEVICES. If you don't see the shuffle under DEVICES, click the little triangle to drop down the list.
    The easier way to put songs onto the shuffle is create a new Playlist. Name it "shuffle songs" or whatever you want. Put the songs you want on your shuffle into this playlist. Then connect your shuffle, go to the shuffle's pane in iTunes, and click on the Contents tab. At the bottom of that tab is the Autofill controls. Select to +Autofill from+ the playlist you just created and populated. Click the Autofill button to sync.
    This is better because you can decide what to put on the shuffle the next time without the shuffle connected, AND when you sync, it's done all at one time, instead a few songs at a time if you do it manually.

  • Interpreting macro names in RTL

    I was wondering if someone could help me understand the macro naming in the RTL.
    e.g.,
    mcu_readdp_dp_msff_macro__stack_66c__width_65
    mcu_readdp_dp_and_macro__ports_2__stack_1l__width_1
    mcu_readdp_dp_nand_macro__ports_4__width_1
    mcu_readdp_dp_nor_macro__dnor_4x__ports_3__width_1
    mcu_readdp_dp_nor_macro__ports_3__width_1
    I think I understand width, ports and the transistor sizing (4x) parameters.
    Could someone help me with the stack parameter? On a related note,
    how is this info passed on to the synthesis tool? The implementation
    of the macros seem to use the same underlying module irrespective of the
    parameters. For instance, both the nor macros above instantiate the same
    'nor3' module.

    AI doesn't even retain its own layer/ sub-layer/ group names after shuffling stuff around, so take a guess how likely it would be to achieve what you want. Or in otehr words: Unless the PDF was created from AI and has the editable data attached, this is very much a hopeless case. And I'm not sure if your sideway use of layers in ID is a good way of managing your data to begin with. I think you're trying to see something in them that they aren't. They're not per se "layout layers", but rather just a secondary meta structure for versioning or multi-language docs to define specific dependencies. Otherwise ID isn't much different from AI - it uses arranged objects and doesn't care about a strict layer metaphor or stacking. As long as it gives the desired appearance, it will group and arrange objects in whatever ways you fancy and that is defined on the per-object level as a property of the object, not a document layer or something...

  • Turn shuffle off, using Voice Over

    What do I have to say?

    I think you mean Voice Control. VoiceOver is where the iPod speaks to your telling yu waht is is trying to do. For Vaoice contral, this is from the users guide
    Siri and Voice Control
    You can use Siri (iPod touch 5th generation) or Voice Control (iPod touch 3rd generation or later) to control music playback on iPod touch. See Chapter 4, Siri, on page 35 and Voice Control on page 26.
    Use Siri or Voice Control: Press and hold the Home button .
    Play or pause music: Say “play” or “play music.” To pause, say “pause,” “pause music,” or “stop.” You can also say “next song” or “previous song.”
    Play an album, artist, or playlist: Say “play,” then say “album,” “artist,” or “playlist” and the name.
    Shuffle the current playlist: Say “shuffle.”
    Find out more about the current song: Say “what’s playing,” “who sings this song,” or “who is this song by.”
    Use Genius to play similar songs: Say “Genius” or “play more songs like this.”

  • 1 ipod nano + 2 ipod shuffles = confusion

    i purchased 2 ipod shuffles for my sons at Christmas.  I want to add them to my account and set up separate libraries for them.  I have an ipod nano (3rd generation).  Can I add them to my account and set up different libraries for all of us?

    It's not an "account" (like the Apple ID you use with the iTunes Store).  iPods sync to your iTunes library.  You can sync as many iPods (and other Apple devices like iPhone and iPad) as you want to one iTunes library.  You can set up each device to sync separately to the songs in your ONE iTunes library.
    This is how I would do it...  Create two playlists in your iTunes library, one each for your sons.  Name them appropriately.  Add the songs you want on each son's shuffle to their respective playlists.  (If you want the same songs on both shuffle, you can just create one playlist.)
    You can connect both shuffles at the same time (or one at a time).  If the iTunes sidebar (along left side of window) is not visible, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.  Each shuffle appears in the sidebar, under DEVICES.  If both are connected, they are both listed there, and if you connect your nano, it is listed there as well.  If you have not already, you should name the shuffles so ownership is clear.  (You can rename an iPod by selecting it in the sidebar and clicking on its name a second time.)
    Select one of the shuffles in the sidebar.  To the right, the shuffle's Summary screen is shown.  Toward the top, where it says Summary, click on Music to the right of Summary.  This Music screen is where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to that iPod.
    Check the box to Sync Music.  Choose the option to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  Below that, look under Playlists to find that new playlist you created for that son.  Select (checkmark) it.  You don't have to select anything else.  When you click Apply, the songs from that playlist sync to the shuffle.
    Repeat for the other shuffle, selecting the other son's playlist on its Music screen.
    Going forward, to update each son's shuffle, just update their playlists in your iTunes library (add/remove songs).  The shuffles do not need to be connected, so your sons can be using them.  The next time you connect the shuffles (or when you click Sync if already connected), iTunes automatically updates each shuffle with the same changes.
    You can keep using your iPod nano as you have been.  The setup for two shuffle's does not affect the existing setup for your nano.  And you can update the settings on your nano without affecting the shuffles.  iTunes treats each device separately.

  • Error message the disk could not be written to or read from.

    Every time I try to synchronize my shuffle,I get the message that attempting to (I forget what it said exactly) failed, the disk could not be written to or read from.
    To synchronize it I have to reset the shuffle using the reset utility and then only it synchronizes automatically(for the first time only and not again).
    Is there a way to resolve this?
    Thanks a lot for any help.

    I get the same thing. I bought 2 of them today and both are now doing the same thing.
    When I first hook it up it asks me to name it then if I want it to grab music from my itunes. If I say yes it does and shows the songs in iTunes. All works good. The problem comes in when I try to remove a song or change them. That's when I get the error.
    If I reset using the ipod reset utility it blanks it out, has me name it, then asks if I want it to pull music from iTunes automatically. If I say no then it appears blank on my iTunes. Which it should. I then try to drag a music file over or hit autofill and it waits a while then says the same error message. It shows the music in my shuffle until I disconnect it. Once I re-connect it then it shows blank again.
    So right now the only way I can get music on it is to use the reset utility. Name the Shuffle again. Have it automatically grab the music from iTunes...and can then never edit the music.
    I am using iTunes 7.1.1.5

  • Indesign layers in bridge

    Hi,
    is it possible to access the indesign layers from within Bridge. Is there a plugin or script that will allow me to do so?

  • Need help with an array

    I'm working on creating an array that is basically a deck of cards, this is the problem.
    I'm getting this error:
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 4
      void main()
        final int ARRAY_SIZE = 52;
        String[] deck = new String[ARRAY_SIZE];
        String[] cardValue = new String[]{"A","2","3","4","5","6","7","8","9","T","J","Q","K"};
        String[] cardSuit = new String[]{"C","H","D","S"};
        for (int count = 0; count < ARRAY_SIZE; count++)
          deck[count]= cardValue[count] + cardSuit[count];
        }I Know that this is because cardSuit is reaching the end of the array, but how do I keep this from happening and make it start from the beginning until i reach the end of the cardValue array?

    By the way thanks for the help guys, I'm in a pinch for this assignment and I appreciate all of the help.
      void main()
        final int ARRAY_SIZE = 52;
        String[] deck = new String[ARRAY_SIZE];
        String[] cardValue = new String[]{"A","2","3","4","5","6","7","8","9","T","J","Q","K"};
        String[] cardSuit = new String[]{"C","H","D","S"};
        for (int count = 0; count < ARRAY_SIZE; count++)
          deck[count]= cardValue[count % 13] + cardSuit[count % 4];
          showCards(deck);
      void showCards(String [] list)
        String cards = ("card");
        for (int count = 0; count < list.length; count++)
          print (cards);
      This is what I'm talking about. I need to be able to call the showCards method and have it display whatever cards are currently in the players hand regardless of how many cards there are. I believe that I'm right when I used the void declaration because I don't want it the method to return anything to itself.
    Right now with the code as is, i get "card" typed out 52 times.
    First how do I go about having it print out the complete deck and the order that they are in?
    Is there a way to create the deck in pre-sorted like I have below?
    This was the assignment:
    Write a ConsoleProgram to create a deck of playing cards, shuffle them, and deal out 5 cards to the player. To do this:
     You will need an array of 52 cards. In the basic version of this program, each card is a string in the form XY, where X is the rank (A, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, T, J, Q, K, A) and Y is a letter designating the suite (C, H, D, S).
     You will need to shuffle the cards by swapping the positions of two randomly selected cards in the array. For this, you should write and use three methods:
    o randRange a method which takes 2 parameters: a minimum integer and a maximum integer. It creates a random integer in this range and returns it.
    o swap a method which takes 3 parameters: an array of cards and two subscripts. It swaps the array elements with the given subscripts and returns nothing in its name.
    o shuffle a method which takes 2 parameters: an array of cards and a number of times to swap cards. It shuffles by swapping two randomly selected cards the desired number of times (a possibly different pair each time). It returns nothing in its name (so it is a void method).
     You will need an array of 5 cards for the players hand. After shuffling the deck, you will fill this array with the first 5 cards from the deck.
     Display the unshuffled deck, then the shuffled deck, and finally the players hand. Indicate which is which in the output. For example, the output of one program run might look like this: Unshuffled: 2C, 3C, 4C, 5C, 6C, 7C, 8C, 9C, TC, JC, QC, KC, AC, 2D, 3D, 4D, 5D, 6D, 7D, 8D, 9D, TD, JD, QD, KD, AD, 2H, 3H, 4H, 5H, 6H, 7H, 8H, 9H, TH, JH, QH, KH, AH, 2S, 3S, 4S, 5S, 6S, 7S, 8S, 9S, TS, JS, QS, KS, AS Shuffled: 2C, QC, 3S, 9C, 9S, 6C, 6H, 3C, QH, 2H, 8C, 9H, AH, 4S, AS, TH, 6D, 3D, 2S, 8S, 5C, TC, 4C, 4D, 7C, AD, 9D, JD, 4H, 5S, KH, 7H, JS, 8D, TD, KC, 3H, 2D, KD, AC, KS, JC, 5H, JH, 8H, 5D, 7S, TS, QD, 7D, 6S, QS Your Hand: 2C, QC, 3S, 9C, 9S

    Err this is no longer April 1st you know.
    The iPod Shuffle has never had a 'display' on which track names can be shown. See http://www.apple.com/ipod-shuffle/ if you want an iPod which does have a display on which you can see the tracks names and even the album cover art then look instead at the bigger and more expensive iPod Nano http://www.apple.com/ipod-nano/ or iPod Touch http://www.apple.com/ipod-touch/
    PS. The current iPod Shuffle even though it has no display on which it can show the track names can read them out loud to you using a voice-synthesiser this is the VoiceOver feature described on the iPod Shuffle product page I listed above.

  • My iPod Shuffle won't read the name of playlists or songs

    I got my first iPod shuffle 4GB... everything's working fine but just when I click and hold the centre button it won't tell me the names of the song... or when I try to change playlists it will tell me "playlist 1... playlist 2... playlist 3" instead of the names of the playlists. Though I can see the names in my iTune.
    Can anyone help me...? Thanks a lot.. I was actually really looking forward to this name-reading function..
    Cheers

    Thank you so much - yes it will read the names of the songs and playlist now! Thanks a lot for your help, without your answer i probably won't be able to figure it out myself. Cheers!

  • HT2305 Since updating my laptop from Windows Vista to Windows 7, my Ipod Shuffle, 3rd generation does not recognize last 3 playlist names; it calls them out as "playlist 3, playlist 4 -- even though in the panel the names are showing just fine. The music

    I have recently updated my laptop from Windows Vista to Windows 7. I have just added three new playlists to my Ipod Shuffle, 3rd generation. On the panel in ITunes in view on the computer, all looks fine and music plays. However, after syncing a million times, when clicking to "hear" the playlists, the voice will call out all the old playlists just fine - except for the 3 new ones I've added; it calls them out as "playlist 3, playlist 8, or "purchased". All software for the ITunes has been updated as of the moment. Why would switching from Vista to Windows 7 cause this frustrating issue? All help appreciated.

    From page 23 of your iPod's User Guide: http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iPod_shuffle_3rdGen_UG.pdf
    If VoiceOver is disabled in iTunes, you hear an abbreviated menu of playlists in numbered order, but not by name (for example, “Playlist 1, Playlist 2,” and so on).
    So you'll want to make sure VoiceOver is enabled to correct this.

  • Album Shuffle Doesn't Work Properly When Albums Have The Same Name

    I'm using the latest versions of iTunes 7.0.2 and 5.5G iPod v1.2.1, but this problem has existed in (as far as I know) all iPods to date. It certainly still continues to occur on the latest iPod.
    Example of the problem: I have many Albums by different Artists. I listen to them on my iPod by using "Album Shuffle" which plays the contents of an album in sequential order, but successive albums in random order. This is good when it works. However, iTunes and iPod have a problem when more than 1 album has the same name. So, let's say you have 3 albums by 3 different groups (Band A, B, and C), all called "Greatest Hits". The expected behaviour is that "Greatest Hits by Band A will play tracks 1-10, then another random album, and then sometime later, the album "Greatest Hits" by Band C will play tracks 1-15. That would be good, but this does not happen. Here's what actually happens:
    Some Album / Band X / Track 14
    Some Album / Band X / Track 15
    Some Album / Band X / Track 16
    Greatest Hits / Band A / Track 1
    Greatest Hits / Band B / Track 1
    Greatest Hits / Band C / Track 1
    Greatest Hits / Band B / Track 2
    Greatest Hits / Band A / Track 2
    Greatest Hits / Band C / Track 2
    Greatest Hits / Band B / Track 3
    Greatest Hits / Band C / Track 3
    Greatest Hits / Band A / Track 3
    ... (until all "Greatest Hits" tracks by Bands A, B, and C have finished)
    Another Album / Band Z / Track 1
    Another Album / Band Z / Track 2
    Another Album / Band Z / Track 3
    As you can see, the iPod treats all 3 "Greatest Hits" as one humungous album. Now, until version 7, even iTunes appeared to be pretty confused about this, but with the latest version added the "Album Artist" tag (which I've applied correctly to all tracks in my Library), so that it can identify albums as separate entities properly, even if they have the same name. (This was necessary for Cover Flow to work.) Sadly, this logic has not made it to the iPod, and we still have the crazy playback situation above.
    Since the first day I bought my first iPod back in 2002, I've always used Album Shuffle, and this has always been a problem. I was surprised to find that even the latest iPod still hasn't fixed this, even though iTunes seems to have. Apple, please could you fix this?
    iPod 5.5G, iTunes 7.0.2   Mac OS X (10.4.8)
    Power Mac G5 Dual 2.3 GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    BTW, I'm not looking for workarounds that involve renaming albums. What if I have 158 "Greatest Hits" albums?
