Need help accessing the router web page. I have been told my router is acting like a switch and the IP address is not in the proper range. I have tried reseting the router (hold for 30 sec and unplug for 5 mins). Didn't work.

What router are you using? Almost all Linksys routers use 192.168.1.1 as the default local IP address, but there is at least one that uses 192.168.16.1 , namely the WTR54GS (not the WRT54GS).
You need to try again to reset the router to factory defaults.
To reset your router to factory defaults, use the following procedure:
1) Power down all computers, the router, and the modem, and unplug them from the wall.
2) Disconnect all wires from the router.
3) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
4) Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds, then release it, then let the router reset and reboot (2-3 minutes).
5) Power down the router.
6) Connect one computer by wire to port 1 on the router (NOT to the internet port).
7) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
8) Power up the computer (if the computer has a wireless card, make sure it is off).
9) Try to ping the router. To do this, click the "Start" button > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt. A black DOS box will appear. Enter the following: "ping 192.168.1.1" (no quotes), and hit the Enter key. You will see 3 or 4 lines that start either with "Reply from ... " or "Request timed out." If you see "Reply from ...", your computer has found your router.
10) Open your browser and point it to 192.168.1.1. This will take you to your router's login page. Leave the user name blank (note: a few Linksys routers have a default user name of "admin" (with no quotes)), and in the password field, enter "admin" (with no quotes). This will take you to your router setup page. Note the version number of your firmware (usually listed near upper right corner of screen). Exit your browser.
If you get this far without problems, try the setup disk (or setup the router manually, if you prefer), and see if you can get your router setup and working.
If you cannot get "Reply from ..." in step 9 above, your router is dead.
If you get a reply in step 9, but cannot complete step 10, then either your router is dead or the firmware is corrupt. In this case, use the Linksys tftp.exe program to try to reload your router with the latest firmware. After reloading the firmware, repeat the above procedure starting with step 1.
If you need additional help, please state your ISP, the make and model of your modem, your router's firmware version, and the results of steps 9 and 10. Also, if you get any error messages, copy them exactly and report back.

Need Help with a Flash Web Project

Hello, everyone. I am trying to use Flash to make a two-step
system. I want the flash document to, first, allow a person to
upload multiple image files and then, second, for the flash
document be able to create a slideshow with the uploaded images and
fade in and out from each image until the slideshow is over. I want
it to be where the flash document creates its own slideshow with
the images that are uploaded in the first step that I mentioned. I
want it to do it completely on its own so I need to know how to
give it the proper AI so that it can do this task.
So, are there any tips that anyone has on how to do this? Can
anyone tell me exactly how to do this? I really need help with this

The problem with the text not appearing at all has to do with you setting the alpha of the movieclip to 0%. Not within the movieclip, but the movieclip itself. The same for the xray graphic, except you have that as a graphic symbol rather than a movieclip. To have that play while inhabiting one frame you'll need to change it to a movieclip symbol.
To get the text to play after the blinds (just a minor critique, I'd speed up the blinds), you will want to add some code in the frame where you added the stop in the blinds animation. You will also need to assign instance names for the text movieclips in the properties panel, as well as place a stop(); in their first frames (inside).
Let's say you name them upperText and lowerText. Then the code you'd add at the end of the blinds animation (in the stop frame) would be...
_parent.upperText.play();
_parent.lowerText.play();
The "_parent" portion of that is used to target the timeline that is containing the item making the command, basically meaning it's the guy inside the blinds telling the guy outside the blinds to do something.
You'll probably want to add stops to the ends of the text animations as well.
If you want to have the first text trigger the second text, then you'd take that second line above and place it in the last frame of the first text animation instead of the blinds animation.
Note, on occasion, undeterminably, that code above doesn't work for some odd reason... the animation plays to the next frame and stops... so if you run into that, just put a play(); in the second frame to help push it along.
PS GotoandPlay would actually be gotoAndPlay, and for the code above you could substitute play(); with gotoAndPlay(2);

Help with using a web page from disk after saved from web

Hi, I almost forgot the little I learned about web page development, so, I'm a total noob when it comes to this and I need your help.
I saved as a complete web page on my hard disk this web page but when I open it in Firefox or IE, it doesn't display as much as I need it. I'm mostly interested in displaying the logo images as they appear on the original web page. The browsers just show them briefly when refreshing but hide them right away. I can see the image files downloaded to my hard drive and if I open the page in Dreamweaver it displays these images in the preview pane but I can't make them show in the browsers. From Dreamweaver I saved the page as in the folder where the images are and this also updated the code with the relative image links but the browsers still don't show them.
I will greatly appreciate your help with this.

Need help with publishing for web

Hi,
I am a new user to Captivate but am trying to create an
online demo that will be accessible via a link on a website.
I have recorded the content and have added the animation.
I have published the file as an executable and also as a
flash (export to html). I have then opened the demo on a variety of
PC systems to see the quality of my project. I am discouraged
because in an executable and in a web browser my project is much
larger than what I created and on some slides I do not believe the
complete image is visible (on some systems). Is there any way to
control the size of the executable or html final project?
I am curious to what other have done to produce a high
quality end result demo. Any suggestions, or advice would be much
appreciated.

Hi Allison and welcome to our community
What you have posted would seem to suggest you have created
.SWF output with the .HTM companion page (Export HTML).
Contrary to what you may believe, the Export HTML option
doesn't produce a pure HTML version of your movie. Instead, it
produces an additional HTML page intended to be used to cause your
movie to display at the size in which you recorded it.
So again, what you have posted would seem to indicate you are
linking directly to the raw .SWF and bypassing the HTML page. If
you do this, the .SWF simply opens at whatever size the browser is
configured for.
Or... possibly you recorded full screen. (not best practice
by any means) If you recorded at perhaps 1024x768, when your user
plays the movie back, they get scroll bars as the browser area is
reduced so it can display the "chrome" elements. Buttons and
whatnot. So best practice in this situation is to record at a
smaller size that will comfortably play back for your end users.
Not only from the physical size perspective, but the "weight" of
the bandwidth needed to pull the movie down. (The larger the
physical recorded size, the more bandwidth is required).

the problem is that i always get error 10049 in socket::open meaning no adresse could be found i tried IP adresse and still the same.
i managed to recreate the same web page to test it on local and the surprise that it works fine but when accessing it online i have this error.

Need help with fitting text onto page

I'm working on a website where I have a template with an
editable region where I put all the main text for each page. I
originally had it set up for scroll bars so when the text inside
the cell of the editable region didn't fit, scroll bars would
appear (I used overflow in the CSS). Now the client tells me they
don't want scroll bars but want the text area to dynamically expand
vertically to fit whatever amount of text. The problem is, when I
try to put in a lot of text in the editable region, it breaks the
table and the nav bar on the side gets all messed up. How can I
have the text inside of a cell dynamically expand without affecting
the rest of the table?
Any help is greatly greatly appreciated, thanks in

Need help with an "exit door" page

My office has a page on our webserver that serves as an "exit door". It basically tells you when you're leaving our site (they do this because it's a gov't site, and thus rquired) and you have to click on a link to confirm that you want to leave.
The way it works is that when you code a page with a link that needs an exit door, you prepend the url with "exit.cfm?link=" and then the URL. It works adequately on simple URLS that pass no parameters. Where it has a problem is when a URL has GET arguments like ?page=23&item=43.
The original coder used URL.link, which of course only captures the first GET argument. As a work-around, we're required to edit the target URLS being passed to the exit door and replace things like & and # with [amp], [pound], etc. Needless to say, this gets rather tedious, so I decided to have a look at that old exit door page to see what I could do with it.
After playing around a bit, I achieved a reasonable level of success by using the following:
#xmlformat(ListDeleteAt(CGI.QUERY_STRING,1,"="))#
This gives me a properly encoded full URL to use as a link on the exit door page. But there's one problem. If there's a link that contains an anchor (like foo.com#section1) it doesn't capture the anchor. The # and what's after it isn't being passed.
I'm trying to figure out how to make this work. Has anyone else here had to make an exit door, and if so, how did you do yours?

Thanks mack. I'm starting to think the answer to this is "it can't be done". Which is probably why my predecessor was replacing &s with [amp]s.
What led me to try to change this was that I was trying to build a regex for Dreamweaver that changed things like & and # to [amp] and [pound], but only when the URL began with the exit door page URL. I was only able to get my regex to replace one occurance of an item per pass, which sort of defeated its purpose. So I decided to change the exit door page instead.
Maybe I'll go back to trying to get the regex to work.

Need help with open hub

Hi eveybody,
I was trying to wok with open hub. Created infospoke, destination i gave was a csv file named d:/openmara.csv path, saved and activated the info spoke. I went to d:/ to view the uploaded files, two file was created, when i try to open a file it says "unable to read" , when i tried to open the second one i could open the file and see some datas but not in a correct format, why is that?
Then i tried to load the data in database, so in the infospoke i selected the option for destination as database,saved and activated the infospoke, now where should i go to see the uploaded datas physically?
Could anyone help me with this.

Thanks for the reply. I created a infospoke and destination was database option. Opened the se16 gave the table name which starts with /bic/....(please correct me if i am wrong),then the initial screen of se16 came up with all the fields , but when i executed it, the table is empty.Could you say why it is happening.

Help with silly little web page pls

I've made a little web page for som kids in my neighborhood.
Problem: PNG-8 image, w/alpha transparency, shows up fine when I preview in my browser (Firefox 3.0.10).
- however -
Image shows 'white' where it is supposed to be transparent when I view the web site...

I plan to add some eye-candy if I can get the image(s) to display properly.
Any ideas on how to fix the transparency?

Need Help With Work Group Wiki Page (404)

I am somwhat of a novice with all this server stuff so I will try to explain....
I have done a standard server install of OS X 10.5.6 Server on my Xserve. Everything seemed to work like a charm. The only problem I am having is when I select my home page to be my Workgroup Wiki page (inside the standard server prefences window). When I select this and try to test the page with the link under the drop down (open home page), it opens Safari and the header looks right but the page says "Not Found. 404: No group with that name (workgroup) hosted on this server).
I have a Workgroup and then two other groups....print and interactive. I want people to be able to log-on and see the main work group wiki page and then be able to select to go to one of the other two groups. I have had this working before but had to reformat my hard drive and reinstall the OS.
From the page that comes-up, I CAN click on the "groups" link in the header bar and that does take me to a working page, but I want to be able to have people go to this workgroup page first.
Any help would be MUCH appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If you have the original index.html file installed in the /Library/WebServer/Documents/ folder then your wikid server will use it to display the web service groups.
If you have changed the index.html file or substituted a different index.html then wikid will not be able to perform its display action.

Need help with a simple php page link

I have a small .php to force the download of a file when a user clicks on a link:

I need to include code which will redirect the user back to the home page without opening a new browser window, either during or immediately after downloading the file. And if it's possible, prevent the browser back button to return the user to the download page.
I tried adding this after the readfile line: echo "<a href="mywebsite.com/index.html" /a>";
but that failed miserably. My php knowledge is as weak as a bull moose after the mating season. Can someone help me out on this?

If you couldn't tell whether it is AS2 or AS3, it is doubtful you can turn it from AS2 into AS3, at least not until you learn both languages. There is no tool made that does it for you.

I tried again this morning, Here is what I did.
I made sure I did not logged in to the application and made sure I only opened one brower window. Then I tried to open the page. I was not able to log in the first time I opened the page, I got the error I mentioned in the first post, and on the right top corner of the error page it has a logout link.
Then I clicked refresh button and I could access the page. I could tell I did not logged in at that time because there is no logout link on the right top corner, there were only links for "home" and "preferences".
Then I closed the browser and reopened the browser, and tried to open the page, at this time I got error again, then I click refresh button and I could open the page again.
Then I kept this browser window open and I opened another browser window and just went to blank page. Then I close the first browser window(the one with the bookmarkable page) and opened a new window (during this time the blank page was still open) and went to the bookmarkable page again. And this time it worked.
I think there is something like cookie changed when I got the error so I could open the page after click refresh. But dont know what it is.
