    Hello,
    I own a Satellite P100-10P laptop.
    My question is:
How much gigaflops can this laptop produce (not in normal usage, but technically)?

    Hi
First of all you will not find here any Toshiba technicians but simply, common Toshiba notebooks users. This is a user-to-user forum!
    Regarding your question;
Why you dont use a benchmark application to measure floating-point performance.
Maybe a LINPACK 64bit benchmark application could helps. I write could helps because I never used and tested this program. ;)
    http://linux.softpedia.com/get/System/Benchmarks/High-Performance-Linpack-1396.shtml
But this program was written for Linux OS. It looks like you will be not able to run it on Win OS.

  • Satellite P100-239 - Sound driver for Windows 7

    Hello,
I need some support for installing audio driver for my Satellite P100-239. I tried different things but noone works. So I'm searching for a mate who give me a solution to fix my sound prob. I am sure it is a conneax hd audio.
I cant flash bios with BD1_BIOS(V4.80)_Update (is it possible for installing soundcard?)
    THx for any help

    Hi Salomon82,
I founded a similar thread regarding sound drivers for Windows 7 on Satellite P100:
    http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=191495&#191495
It seems that the Vista driver also work on Windows 7! :)
Furthermore its not necessary to update the BIOS for installing sound card drivers because firstly you should try the correct driver.

  • How to reset the BIOS to solve a problem with DVD burner on Satellite P100

    Hi
I am trying to reset my cmos to solve a problem with my dvd burner.
I was trying to run an old game that I own that was protected by starforce and ran starforce nightmare with has made the device completly inoperable.
After much searching I have heard to reset cmos.
I have treid through debug and nothing happend. I don't really want to open up the laptop and pull the cmos battery out or leave it for a month until the cmos battery runs out.
Is there any advice on what I should do.

    Hi
What you want to do is simply not possible you said that you had some problems with PCs and you fixed it.
That's great. But a PC is simply different and cannot be compared with the notebook
    > I was trying to run an old game that I own that was protected by starforce and ran starforce nightmare with has made the device completely inoperable.
According to your statement above you CD/DVD drive issue could be related to the installed starforce nightmare. I dont know this but I presume this software/application has changed or destroyed the CD/DVD drives firmware.
Sorry but I see only one way to get it working again You have to contact the ASP in your country. Maybe a technician would be able to rescue the drive
PS: your Satellite P100 PSPA6A series seems to be a Australian series therefore you should use the Toshiba Australian page if you need some drivers or BIOS

an I download a new driver to solve problem or is it more complicated than that? Than you

    Hello
For me it sounds like that you didnt install the sound driver for sound card
According the Toshiba website there is no 64bit sound driver available for Satellite P100 but I noticed that Satellite P300 supports Windows 7 64bit and has Conexant sound card too. Maybe this driver is working for you too.
Just search for Satellite P300 drivers and test the sound driver It should work! :)

  • CD/DVD drive Acoustic Silencer does not work on Satellite P100-194

    Satellite P100-194 (Win XP MCE, Bios-Version 2.20)
Since there is excessive vibrating of the DVD-Multi-Drive with some of my DVDs and CDs, I would like to use the Acoustic Silencer, but theres no difference between Silent Mode and Normal Mode.
I have already tried to reinstall the Acoustic Silencer Tool, without success. Since this problem is starting to get really annoying, any help would be appreciated.
I wonder if the built-in DVD-multi-drive is that sensitive by default (sometimes the entire notebook starts vibrating combined with a very high noise level when reading a dvd) ?
    Thanks in advance !

    Hi WB,
I believe the Acoustic Silencer simply limits the rate at which information can be obtained from the CD/DVD with the intention of preventing the very high speed rotation that can sometimes occur when ripping CDS or DVDs to the hard drive. If you are simply watching DVDs (or listening to CDs for that matter) then the drive speed will not be particularly high since once the read buffer is full then there is no need to read any more data from the disc itself. If you watch the drive LED you will see that it only lights intermittently.
The drive speed will decrease during playback as the laser reads the information from the outside portion of the disc surface.
The presence of noise and vibration normally indicates that the disc is 'eccentric' or is not clamped centrally in the drive, and this can indicate a possible problem with the clamping mechanism itself. However, it is always worth checking that the centre hole in the disc itself has no burrs or pieces of materila that would throw it off-centre, and it is also worth checking if the disc label (assuming it is a stick-on paper type) is properly attached and has no buckles or air bubbles in it since this can also cause noise.
I have experience of a couple of CD-ROM game discs which cause a lot of noise and vibration in my notebook and on checkin I found that the centre hole was very slightly offset.
    regards,

  • Satellite P100 (PSPA6A-028017) - Sound driver for Windows 7

Does anyone know what audio drivers to use for this model on Windows 7?
Device manager says "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"
Drivers listed for it are drmk.sys, hdaudio.sys, portcls.sys, sysfxui.dll and wmalfxgfxdsp.dll all of which are listed as "Microsoft" and "Windows 7 RTM"
Various instructions linked to various drivers (on the Toshiba site and elsewhere) none of which seemed to do anything.
None of the drivers on the Toshiba site for this model work.
Hardware was working just fine on XP before the Windows 7 upgrade.
Can anyone tell me what drivers to use for this chipset and/or what else to try?

    Hi Jonathan Wilson,
I have checked the Toshiba Australian driver download page where your notebook model is listed and it seems that there are no Windows 7 drivers available at the moment :(
Theoretically you could also use the drivers from the European page, where you can get Windows 7 drivers for Satellite P100, model nr. PSPA6E.

    Check this!!!

  • Satellite L450D - Need Wireless driver for Linux system

    Hi,
I have a satellite L450D, with a Realtek RTL8191SE wireless card (windows 7). I use Linux for college and i can't get on the internet when i use linux cause the oporating system dose not find my wireless card.
When i check from command line for wireless cards, it shows that there are non.
I know other people that had this problem and basically i need a driver for it.
Can any one let me know what driver i need or where to get it? I would really appriciate this as i need to use Linux for college.
    Thanks

    Hi
I googled a little bit and found some tips in the internet.
It seems that there is no Linux driver for Realtek WLan card rtl8191se and rtl8192se.
Bu someone has managed the WLan installation by installing ndiswrapper from synaptic in Ubuntu + GUI. He downloaded the W2K driver net8192se.sys and net8192se.inf.
The W2k driver work but the combination driver W2Kxp or the xp or vista doesnt work.
After that you can use WPA because WEP encryption is not supported

  • Trying to get HD-DVD drive to work on Satellite P100-463

    Hi everybody.
I bought this baby on the weekend and since I am struggeling trying to get HD-DVD to work on it. I added the xbox 360 HD_DVD drive but the Power DVD Software Advisor keeps telling that the graphic card 9Geforce Go 7900) drivers need to be updated in order to play HD-DVD content. Now, there is no newer driver available as the one installed (84.0?)
Can anybody please advise if the card supports hdcp protection anyways? Maybe my problem has another source.
    Thanks for advice.

Wait do you use the drive designed for the Xbox in the Satellite P100?
Hmm, Im surprised that this device is compatible with the Toshiba notebook.
Anyway, as far as I know you need a special DVD software player to play and watch HD-DVD on the notebook.
A simple WinDVD does not support the new HD-DVDs.
By the way: I know one Toshiba model that was delivered with the HD_DVD drive.
It was a Qosmio G30 DVD HD Model.
I found in the driver download section on the Toshiba site a new update of Nvidia GeForce Go7600 graphic card driver Version 8.3.2.7
But I dont know if its compatible with you card...

  • Need a BIOS flash boot disk for Satellite P100-240

I need to be able to flash my Satellite P100-240 from a bootable CD.
The only BIOS I can find on this site needs to be run from windows.
Ive seen BIOS 4.40 for P100 on other Toshiba sites, eg:
    http://askiris.toshiba.com/ToshibaSupportSite/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=2115 524xml&sliceId=&dialogID=56504155&stateId=0%200%20 56506013
But not sure whether that is appropriate for P100-240.
They seem to be completely differently named. Not sure if thats a country based thing.
Will the BIOS in the link mentioned be ok to run on my p100-240??

Your notebook is NOT US series but European series and you have to use the BIOS from the Toshiba European driver page!
The wrong BIOS can damage the notebooks BIOS ROM module!!! And this would lead to the point where you wouldnt be able to boot the machine!!!
Therefore you should ALWAYS use the BIOS designed for this notebook series!!!
Furthermore you will not find any traditional BIOS updates on the Toshiba page!
There are only windows-based BIOS updates and you could update it ONLY from running windows OS.
If the notebooks BIOS cannot be updated from the Windows OS then you have to contact the Toshiba technician and have to ask for the help!!!
This is everything what you can do

  • Need older BIOS for Satellite P100-120

    Hi guys,
I just upgraded the BIOS of my Satellite P100-120 ( *PSPADE* ) from vers.3.30 to vers. 4.30.
After that, the GPU fan stopped working (it does in startup only).
As I (too late!) found out thanks to this forum, this problem is not yet resolved:
I reinstalled the latest Nvidia driver as suggested, without result.
So I would like to *downgrade BIOS to a vers between 3.30 and 4.00* (both my fans should be working with these releases).
Unfortunately, I overwrote the bios.bak file created by Winphlash... so here I am!
Would be there anyone who could kindly let me have a copy of the older BIOS I need (1MB file)?
Or do you think Toshiba Assistance (warranty is not expired) should be of any help to me?
    Thank you in advance.

    Ciao Steffano,
Yesterday I had the same problem as you and many other with this new BIOS, but today it's fixed :) The steps I did to make my laptop become a laptop not a portable heater:
    - update the BIOS to 4.30
    - go in Windows and uninstall the nVidia driver
    - reboot
    - go in Toshiba site and download their nVidia driver
    - install it
    - reboot
from here GPU fan become alive in Windows and also unexpectedly in Linux
hope this will help also to you

  • Satellite P100-120 (PSPADE) - Need copy of BIOS

Satellite P100-120 (PSPADE) owners, please help me!
I need a copy of your P100 BIOS, because the upgraded version I installed on my notebook doesn't work.
Everything you could kindly do for me would be (5mins procedure):
    1) Download, from Toshiba's support-download site, the file of the most recent Bios for your (mine) (vers.4.30);
    2) Unzip to a folder;
    3) Inside the folder, run Winphlash.exe: in the window that shows up, CHECK "BACKUP ONLY" then run it;
(THERE'S NO DANGER AT ALL FOR YOUR PC, IT'S JUST A BACKUP, _just be sure to check "backup only")_
    4) The utility creates a bios.bak file:
    5) Please send me the file you created (you can find it in the directory showed in the window).
    The file it's about 1MB.
    Thank you in advance.
    Stefano Vanzini
    (Modena, Italy)

    Its me again:
Seems the solution was already posted in your first thread:
    http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=34132&tstart=0
You dont need a older BIOS. The 4.30 BIOS is ok and what you have to do it to update the graphic card driver from the Toshiba European driver page!

  • How can i reinstall cd/dvd drive - Satellite P100 PSPAD

    Hi
I have Satellite P100 (PSPAD), and my cd/dvd drive (I dont know how or when) suddenly disappeard, it does not appear in my computer or device manager,
I tried this but coul not find the lowerfilters so i delite the upperfilter and restart the computer but that did not work.
So can I reinstall it somehow and how do i do it?
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Caution There can be many instances of the registry subkey that is mentioned in step 2.
You must make sure that you are in the appropriate registry subkey before modifying the UpperFilters and the LowerFilters values.
To verify that you are in the appropriate registry subkey, make sure that the Default data value is DVD/CD-ROM and the Class data value is CDROM.
    3. In the right pane, right-click UpperFilters, and then click Delete.
    4. Click Yes to confirm the removal of the UpperFilters registry entry.
    5. In the right pane, right-click LowerFilters, and then click Delete.
    6. Click Yes to confirm the removal of the LowerFilters registry entry.
    7. Exit Registry Editor, and then restart the computer.

    Hi guys
    Just one question;
Are you able to boot from the bootable disk like Toshiba recovery disk, Windows XP CD, Vista DVD or Linux live CD???
If yes, then you should try to reinstall the OS.
If not then this would mean that the CD/DVD drive malfunctions.
    *@BlackJack_1*
You said the CD/DVD drive has been recognized by BIOS.
Do you see the whole CD/DVD drive title/name or you can see just the CD/DVD drive option.
You should also test if you can boot from one of the mentioned disk and to ensure that this is not a hardware issue!
