I want to update iCloud account with new apple id but don't know password for old apple id. Plus can no longer receive email at old apple id. How can I delete the current iCloud account on my iPhone if the previously stated conditions exist?
If the old ID is yours, and if it is an earlier version of your current ID, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll. When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

I am trying to find out how to find the specs because the machine is my daughters and it is no longer useable but if I know where I can find its details from the serial no I can get it replaced new for old on the house insurance. Where can I find these details?
I lost equipment due to lightening strike several years ago, which also had old equipment and was not available. I gave insurance images and provided original receipts (my purchases were made on Apple.com), and Apple provided electronic copies of the receipts. You may want to contact Apple and check, if they can provide a copy. Insurance may depreciate the original value. I was offered residual value which i used to buy newer replacements, and provided the receipts for replacements back to insurance.

Hi and hello,
I have just joined this forum as a) I would like to raise an issue and b) encourage some debate or at least seek some views on the following.
I note that many of you are enjoying the benefits of infinity and much higher throughput than I am (currently) ever likely to see, which may make my issue a little ‘out of the Ark’ for many of you. I have also tried searching the forum in case this topic has already been raised, but if it is here, I have not been able to find it. That could I guess, be due to the randomness of the thread/post titles being adopted.
I have just received a letter and an email from BT informing me they are “sprucing up” their systems and I will “get a better service for my money”. To achieve this, they are withdrawing my current service ‘BT Yahoo! Anytime Plus’ and replacing it with ‘BT Total Broadband Option 1”.
Note: When I originally signed up, long time ago now, the service was sold as ‘always on, always available and unlimited’. Clearly there is no such thing as unlimited in the BT vocabulary, at least not in the true dictionary definition of the word. For BT and my service this equates to a maximum 100GB download per month. The connection is commercialised as 2.2Mb/s. At best my total throughput (up, down, handshaking and signalling protocol overheads) equals a maximum of about 300kb/s.
Option 1 promises 20MB connection and a monthly download limit of 10GB. Having checked for my location, BT can only provide a theoretical speed of 6MB.
In summary then, they wish to replace my existing service with a connection speed theoretically 3x that which I have now and reduce my download limit to one tenth!!
Can anyone see why I think this unfair, unreasonable and paramount to ripping off their established customer base? Consider, under their ‘Option 1’ to reach my current level of download capability using the BT published usage policy of £5 per excess of 5GB, or £1 per extra 1GB, then this would equate to an extra £90.00 on top of my current monthly payment.
Any service that has a monthly 10GB download limit in today’s market place is just either naive or looking for a licence to print money.
I thought, that fair usage, customer loyalty and normal best practice, dictated the simple maxim of ‘when withdrawing a service, ensure you replace it with one equal to, or better than that it replaces’.
Sorry guys, but I have thought about this and think it very unjust. Would appreciate your views contrary or otherwise but would not appreciate smart **bleep** replies that simply suggest leaving BT or purchase a better option. And no, whilst I live within a mile from the exchange in a high density residential area, our street cabinet is not gonna get fibre, illogical maybe, but it’s one of the alleged fibre black holes.

BT Anytime Plus is a variation of BT Broadband which gives you 1GB monthly download allowance at £16.33 a month.
Over the next few months, we'll be replacing BT Yahoo! Anytime Plus with BT Total Broadband. We'll need to give you a new account number, but you'll pay the same and get a better service and more features for your money, such as a free 10GB monthly download allowance and speeds of up to 20Mb depending on how far you live from the exchange.
You don't need to do anything. We'll let you know when your upgrade's done."
1. I assume the 1GB message is an error, it has to be 10 surely!!???
2. I can find no pages confirming my/our current capability (to stop us comparing perhaps?)!
3. As you say, no mention of replacing our old modems.
4. No mention of minimum PC spec' to support proposed new service.
5. Worse of all, no date for change-over.
I have to say, I'm now more concerned than I was. I know that BT have always practised a, shall we say, dictatorial approach (as an ISP), to thier members which dates all the way back to their origin as once being the Post Office and civil servants.
Methinks it's time for a serious telephone call to BT to challenge this, much as the first reply suggested. I just hope I can find a UK based person to talk to, no I'm not racist, but I do like to understand whats being said to me, if anything.
I know I currently exceed 1GB download a month, huh, who doesn't.
Nevermind my 2.2MB connection, what about my max only ever being about 300Kb/s.
If you do call them, and have any luck - would love to hear back from you, I'll do the same thing to if you want.

I wonder if someone could help me please?
I've been a BT Internet customer for over eight years. I set up a connection while still living with my parents and kept it on, on their phone line, when I moved out. They pay for the phone line, and I pay separately for their broadband access by direct debit. I've pretty much left it to it's own devices over the years as we've had no issues with it.
However, the connection has now dropped off. I tried to check the status of my account on the BT website, but logging into BT.com requires an account number which has been lost in the mists of time, if I ever had one.
I can log into BT Yaho and view my account details, but whenever I try to access any of the secure areas it takes me to BT.com
I rang customer services (BT Broadband technical help) who told me there was no internet service on the phone line and that they couldn't find any bt internet services attached to the account for the phone line .. ever.
I then rang the billing help line who confirmed there was no broadband attached to the account number for the phone line in question. They too could find no record of a separate broadband account on the line or at the address.
Having looked through this forum I have spotted a couple of similar issues of orphan or 'non-aligned' billing issues.
Could someone tell me how I get BT to acknowledge this 'non-aligned' account so we can reinstate the broadband service to my parents house?
I'm happy to discuss upgrading / merging accounts / packages / payments. Just as long as service is restored.

I have 2 ipods,one for music and the other for old time radio shows.Each had their own file.My computer crashed and I had to buy a new one.Now both ipod files are merged into one.How do I seperate them on the computer?

Unfortunately, in your case, there isn't really a way to separate them as far as I can think.
You could try restoring from a backup, and choosing an older backup perhaps

Log onto www.icloud.com, go to 'Find My iPhone'. Then select 'All Devices', your old iPad will probably show here, select 'Remove from Account'.
If there is no option to 'Remove from Account' ask the current owner to switch iPad off for a while, and remove from account should show in 5 minutes or so. -
If I choose "restore from iTunes backup" to move everything from old iphone to a new one, will I still be able to use the old phone for music and apps? Can the old phone be docked up to that same computer every now and then? Or will the new and old phone overwrite each other in some way? In other words, are the two phones treated as different devices when the "restore" option is used to set up the new phone? Thanks in advance.

Is it possible to create script, which adds new search criteria for old (standard) node?
CustomSearchExtensionHandler.jsx gives example of custom search criteria for custom node. But it is not clear for me, how to add new search criteria over standard XMP fields.Hi,
First you create your own table (with fields like Vendor No and Name), in which you wants to store your Value range for that Vendor and fill this table with all the values for that vendor(your own set of values).
Using this table create an Elementary search Help from SE11 and you can use that search help for the Vendor field where ever you use.
This works fine.

There are lots of posts on this subject over the years about this problem but none of the solutions work for me.
Apple id problems go back many years, if they cant handle that, how do we trust them in security issues?
anyway, here is what it says.

Enter the Apple ID password for
"old e-mail address"
So I enter the password (same one as before, it works in Mail etc on the iPad, only a problem on iTunes store.
App updates would not work, but they finally did when I did a iPad reset and backup restore.
But the iTunes store apple id problem is still there.
I am a user of Apple since 1982, do not like where things are going, honestly, but they are the only game in town. Not a fan of overly automated system processes with no feeling of "transparency" in the way things happen these days.

On your old email - Apple does not assume an email will not change. This is why they provide for recovery if you no longer have access to the email. In order for that to work however, you needed to have followed their recommendation and set up your security questions and/or provided a secondary email address. If you not longer have access, they you can try calling Apple and asking for the Account Security Team. If you can convince them you are who you say you are, they may be able to help reset your password.
Are you saying iTunes on your computer is updating all Apps? If so, I don't understand how. Apps purchased on your old Apple ID are able to be updated only using the Apple ID used to purchase or download them. If what you ar esaying is true, I suspect only thos apps tied to your new Apple ID are being checked and updated. If it is happening as you describe, your iPad is the one behaving as it should, not iTunes on your computer.
Please do not take offence to this but it still seems as if you don't understand how the Apple ID works, not just that you don't agree with it. I've refined my analogy a bit, so please bear with me. I am not trying to be condesending but I HAVE tried to made it as simple as possible for anyone else that may read this.
Imagine you buy a house. You have keys to the house and once inside, you buy all the funrniture you need - with one condition - because of some complicated distribution agreements with the furniture manufacturers, the seller mandates that the furniture you buy must be used only in that house.
Some day in the future, you lose the keys to your house so you buy the house next door with its own new set of keys. You go inside the new house and wonder where all your furniture has gone. Simply, you own both houses but
Upset at this situation, you try to recover your keys to your first house by asking the bank to mail them. You once had the chance to give the bank an alternate address to which they could mail keys but didn't so not they can only mail them to the first house. Since you can't get inside, you cannot retrieve the new keys that they send.
After getting some good advice, you decide to talk to visit the bank personally. You convince them you are the owner of house #1 and they give you a new set of keys. Yay!
You go back to house #1 and finally manage to get in. But, since house #2 is newer, you decide to live there. Now you want to move your furniture so you have a comfortable place to sit and sleep. Oops, you can't take the furniture from the old house because of your agreement with the Furniture seller so you have to buy new furniture.
House = Apple ID
Keys = Password
Furniture = Apps and other content purchased with the first Apple ID
Keys = Password
Alternate Address = Alternate Email Address
Furniture Seller = Apple
Furniture Makers = App Developers, Film and Music Rights Holders
You may not agree with this, but the fact is, Apple owns very little of the content they sell - basically only their own apps and iOS itself. Allowing merging of Apple IDs or transfering ownership of Apps from one Apple ID to another is a logistical nightmare and would create major issues with app developers, music and film rights holders and anyone else who provides content for sale through iTunes or the App Store.
You cannot compare a functioning iCloud with non-functioning iTunes and App Stores. iCloud doesn't care about your apps - it's about syncing and identification (iMessage, Facetime, iCloud services like Find My iDevice) only. So long as you are using the same Apple ID on each device, it will sync between them any supported content you decide. In fact you can use a different Apple ID for all there if you wanted. The key is to be CONSISTENT.
One additional thing we have not brought up already. If the iPad was activated with your original Apple ID and you ever need to restore it (not an uncommon possibility), you will run into a problem with Activation Lock. It's a security feature designed to discourage iDevice theft by rendering it useless if one tries to activate it using anything other than the Apple ID used to activate it originally.
Again, you may not agree with how it works, but I hope this finally makes sense and you at least understand how it works. -

Made online change of Apple ID password as forgot previous one. Change not reflected on my Mac. System preference on my Mac still asks for old password in order to set up new one. However, new Apple ID password works through Icloud. Have tried signing out of Icloud and then signing back in, in the hope for ID sync with Mac but Mac system pref still asks for old password in order to set up the new. Any advice??
