Re: New ImageClass LBP6780dn doesn't "see" paper in tray. Prints from side tray only.

I have a brand new MF6160 and it is not even usable.  Set up easily and prints only from the pull-down Multipurpose tray.  1 hour with Canon support and I was offered a refurbished replacement for my 2 hour old printer.  I was led through a long series of reinstalling drivers, unplugging, etc.  I HATE that tech support has a script to go through even when it has nothing to do with the problem.  This printer PRINTS, scans and copies just fine as long as you don't try to use paper from the Tray where all the paper sits.
Anybody figure this out?  I expected this from HP, not from Canon.

  • New ImageClass LBP6780dn doesn't "see" paper in tray. Prints from side tray only.

I purchased my LBP6780dn online and it is under warranty, but before calling the company I wanted to ask here, because maybe I am missing something - or doing something wrong.
I have 1 paper tray filled up with paper, but when I send a document to the printer - it won't print because of "no paper".
So I have the side tray opened and it only prints from there.
    Questions:
Is there a sensor that I could access or "clean" maybe?

    Thank you for your reply
The paper size is A4 and it is loaded in the bottom loader.
Since it can't print from there - I always have some pages in the side opened tray.
The printing problem was intermittent in the beginning.
I initially didn't notice - it was like it would get stuck with this error "no paper" - I had to push few buttons and it would start printing without any further problems.
So it did print from the bottom loader and I did not need to play with the side tray.
I did not change anything since I bought the printer - even the paper is from the same package.
(I do not print much - and it is my first paper pack I bougth)
The printer page shows the following:
    Paper Information
    Paper Source
    Multi-Purpose Tray           Loaded                 LTR (LT)
    Drawer 1                            Loaded                  A4
I did not set the paper size.
Does the above mean I need to select A4 for both?
    How?
    Thanks,
    A

  • New laptop doesn't see iPhone after user import from old laptop

Transferred my user account from my MacBook to new MacBook Pro, and now the MBP doesn't see my iPhone. Anyone else have this issue and know the solution? I don't mind wiping and restoring the iPhone. (Though I'd prefer not to.)
BTW - deleted my account and all files from the MacBook prior to verifying my iPhone works on the new MacBook Pro. So I can't "go back" to my old machine.

Once again, I answer my own question... Leaving the iPhone plugged in during a restart worked.

  • New Retina MBP Doesn't See Time Capsule

Just purchased a new retina MBP and have 2 probems with it.
    1.  It doesn't see my Time Capsule, when using Airport Utility it states that 'no configured airport base stations have been found'.  I also have an iMac which sees the TC ok.
    2.  I did a superduper backup of my old MBP but set up the new MBP as a new machine just importing the applications from the backup using Migration assistant.  Because of the problem in item 1 above I tried to start up using the external backup but failed. The new MBP cannot startup on the backup disk (Freeagent GoFlex 1TB) even though it's shown as an optional startup in the settings.  When trying to startup from it the machine just goes to a black screen and does nothing.
    So far, not too impressed.
    Regards

    1. Yesterday my mbp-r was unable to find my AP extreme base station in Airport Utility, even though the network seemed to be functioning perfectly. Rebooted the mbp-r (not painful given the speed), and now all is well with Airport Utility. Mysterious, but it worked.
    2. Does superduper clone the recovery partition? (I think I read somewhere it doesn't.) And if not, can you boot from such a clone? IIRC, Carbon Copy Cloner can produce a recovery partition.

  • How do I select paper type when printing from Photoshop?

Sorry to be a total technotard, but in the olden days, I could select paper type (e.g. glossy photo) from the print menu when printing from Photoshop.  Now there is no way to select paper type, at least not that I can find.  Is this an Adobe thing?  Cuz I can't figure out how to do it from InDesign either.  I'd like to be able contol image quality as well.  Thanks in advance for any help... I'm wading around in all these forums trying to find a simple answer and am having no luck...

"hp website says the driver is built-in to the new macs, and I don't need to d/l a new one"
First of all, this is a crock.  And a very tiresome one, as it's been used as an excuse not to post drivers for download.
The driver is not "built into" a Mac.  There may be some version of it installed IF you happened to install hundreds upon hundreds of gigabytes of printer drivers (the vast majority of which are obsolete and brands you've never nor will ever own) when you installed the OS.  This view is just so idiotic, as you won't have installed every HP driver ever made if you didn't own an HP printer or plan to hook it up to that computer.
Apple compounds the problem by not giving you any way to pick and install a printer driver.  Seriously, in 2009.  And this in addition to the Mac's inability to detect a new printer after you plug it in, and ask if you want to install a driver.  People tolerate that while making fun of Windows, which has been detecting new hardware and prompting for drivers since what, 1995?
Anyway, I believe it was HP who complained that they "didn't have room on their servers" to offer drivers for download.  Unfrigginbelievable.
Nobody who pays any attention to their printing should even consider an HP printer.  That's how incompetent their drivers are, for both platforms.
    Sad.

  • New iTunes Library doesn't see .aif file

I gathered my music into one new library on a new external HD but it didn't gather in the .aif file I made as an audio track for a movie. I can see it and click on it but it comes up with a QuickTime player window. If I play it, the track plays but doesn't get added to my new library. On the other hand, if I open iTunes from the old library (which I thankfully kept) it shows up and plays through iTunes. Since I need to occasionally burn this file to CD I would really like to have it with the rest of my music. So? What's going on? This track was created using Audacity if that matters.

I don't know what "gathering" involves. Have you tried simply dragging the file to an iTunes playlist to add it?

  • New user created doesn't see any data in reports

    Hello Everyone,
I am using Hyperion Planning 11.1.2.1. I have a problem when i created a new user in the system via Shared Services. The reports are Reporting and Analysis reports.
I duplicated a current user in the system and applied the same groups and provisions. However, the new user cannot view any data in the reports. The current user however is able to do so. I am quite literally puzzled.
The existing user has been given the "Planner" provision. Further, the existing user has dimension security applied as well. This works fine with the existing user, as when i log in as the existing user, the data is available only to the groups and dimensions he has been assigned to. But when I apply the same groups and provisions to the newly created user, I get absolutely no data though i can see the report.
But if I apply the Essbase Cluster: Administrator provision to the new user, all the data is viewable in the reports irrespective of the dimension security.
I would appreciate some help urgently to get this matter resolved.
    Regards

    Hi John,
Though the problem was solved last time, it returned. Users aren't able to view any web analysis reports.
I dropped all users from SS and deleted all the security filters from EAS. (made a backup of course). Then I created all the users once again with relevant access to groups and the provision of "Planner" in the relevant planning application.
Then in planning (Administration > Manage Security Filters > UserName > Create) created the filter for the user.
When I did that, the default filter for the user was as follows.
    Access - None
    Member - @IDES("Accounts"),@IDES("Scenarios"),@IDES("Versions"),@IDES("ABCGroup")
I want the user to have access to the Cost Center (Branch) L103. So I added the following.
    Access - Read
    Member - "Final","Draft 1","L103","Budget","Actual","Final Forecast",@IDES("Input Assumptions"),@IDES("Balance Sheet"), @IDES("Profit and Loss Account"),@IDES("Financials Ratio"),@IDES("Report Assumptions")
This used to work, but for somewhat reason, it doesn't. The story is the same for all users. When i log in as a user and try to view a report, i get the "Database Login" - No data available error.
    Pls help.

  • New HD, system doesn't see

I was gifted a G5 tower from an estate. It came to me without hard drives. otherwise in perfect shape, not even dusty. Was used sporadically, but by a good guy. I asked this form for suggestions for HDs and settled on the suggested -
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136533&cmre=1tb_western_digital_black-_-22-136-533--Product
It arrived, caseless, without side screws for mounting in the HD bays, which is a pain because I specifically asked NewEgg about that. Hooked it up anyway, and popped in the OS X install disk. System does not 'see' the drive. I've spent several hours on the phone with local Mac people and power is on to the drive, cables are good, everything's as it should be but ... it can't see that the drive is there. Boots just fine from the disk, but it doesn't recognize a drive to install OS X on.
One forum suggested that this model G5 - late 2005, can't handle the Western Digital HD I purchased.
    http://forums.cnet.com/5208-21565_102-0.html?threadID=355372
Here's the specs for this G5 tower ...
    Serial number: xxxxxxx
    Name: PowerMac G5 (June 2004)
    Group1: PowerMac
    Group2: G5
    Generation: 2
    ModelCode: g5june04
    CPU speed: 2.0GHz - dual
Memory - number of slots: 8 - 8g of memory installed
    Factory: G8 (USA)
    Model introduced: 2004
    Production year: 2005
    Production week: 16 (April)
Production number: 1108 (within this week)
I'm stuck. There's no Apple store or really any computer-repair place nearby (as in more than 50 miles)
    Ideas? Help?

I have to ask ... what on earth was this merchant thinking selling me a HD that I have to put jumper cables on?
It's a sign of the times, I can tell you that in my Biz we do things the right way, more often talking people out of buying things than buying them, but we'll likely be out of Biz in a month or two, while those that sell, sell, sell, are making money hand over fist. It might cost me $50 to spend an hour talking a customer out of buying $10 worth of goods.
But using Jumpers isn't really a big deal.
They aren't Jumper Cables, many drives come with extra little Jumpers that look like this...

  • Brand new ENVY 17 doesn't see battery

A friend of mine just bought an ENVY 17. He's not too computer literate so he asked me to set it up for him. One of the first things I noticed was that in windows 7 the power icon has a red X over it. In the BIOS no serial number is listed for the battery. I've removed it and put it back in several times and it appears to be seating properly, yet fails to show up. What the heck is going on?

When i go to remove it a little box pops on screen warning me that the sd card hasnt been properly adjected.

    Thanks
    Tricia

I have already used this sd card on my imac, it's not a new card.
The only thing thats changed is I downloaded the new maverick.
Obviously it's having a hissy fit and doesnt like it!!!
I dont really want to lose all the info and photo's etc if I can avoid it. but, if there is no other way, that's what i'll have to do.
Alternatively I'll buy a new card and start again.

  • I have a new iphone how can I see what is on iCloud from my old iphone?

I have new iphone and ipad.  How can I see what is on my old iphone on iCloud so I can delete some space???

If you mean you want to see what is stored in the iCloud backup of your old phone, you can't.  You can only see data in a backup by restoring it to your device.
If you mean you want to see the data you old phone was syncing with icloud, either go to icloud.com from your computer or sign into the account on your new phone in Settings>iCloud and turn on the data you want to see.  It will then download to your phone.

  • New & Improved 4x6 Premium Plus photo paper does not print as good as older paper

I am using an HP Photosmart 8250 printer.  I print about 500 to 700 photos per year on the 4x6 Premium Plus photo paper.  When my new order of paper came yesterday I noticed it said new & Improved on the box.  Buy I do not get the same quality of print on the new paper as I did on the old.  The blacks have a dark olive look to it and the colors are not as rich as I got with the old paper.  To make sure my printer was OK I choice a good picture and printed it on both the older paper and the new.  The blacks are black and the colors are rich on the old paper.  The black on the new paper had that olive look and colors were not as nice.  I basically threw all my new prints in the trash.  What has happen to this good paper?  I don't want to have to buy a different printer at the moment, but cannot print my photos on this new paper either.  Help?

    Hi Sabrams49,
Certain inks work better with certain types of paper. There is nothing wrong with your supplies but unfortunately the paper you are using will always exhibit this problem when used in conjuction with these supplies.
The Premium Plus Photo Paper works better with much older printing systems than the one you own. HP Advanced Paper is the recommended paper for your photosmart and should not exhibit any smudging problems like the oen you have described.
This website can be useful if you want to find out information on what paper to use for best results with any given printer or any other info about the paper itself.

  • OS 10.8 doesn't see my HP C6180 printer .. HELP!

I've just installed Mountain Lion and it seems to be working fine except I can no longer get my HP Photosmart C6180 printer to show on the printer list. It is a wireless connection. I eventually reset the printer and logged back on the network - doesn't work. It is still visible on the old Mac so I know it is on the network. Any solutions?

    Hello  Kahshe,
The HP C6180 is supported with Mountaln Lion.  First, need to make sure that the Mac and the HP C6180 are on the same wifi network.   Can you confirm this ?    From the printers front panel, you can go to Network settings and view or print the network report to confirm if printer is on the same wifi network.
After printer and Mac are confirmed to be on the same network, on the Mac, just go to sytem preferences, Print&Scan,  and 'add printer'.  The system will prompt you to download the latest driver software using Software Updates.   HP is distributing their latest drivers via Apple's Software Update.
    Hope that helps..

  • Disk Utility in recovery partition doesn't see errors present when scanning from 10.8.3

I'm running Disk Utility and finding some errors (Unable to bootstrap transaction group XXXX: inconsistent crosscheck, No valid commit checkpoint found, The volume XXXX was found corrupt and needs to be repaired, Incomplete or inconsistent CoreStorage Physical Volume set)
When I reboot into the recovery partition and try to fix these errors, the disk checks out fine.  Back in 10.8.3, I get the same errors.  Any ideas?

Yes, I chose the Repair Disk option from the Recovery Partition Disk Utility.  This is a FileVault encrypted drive, and I've entered in the password to unlock the disk.  From the Recovery Partition, Disk Utility reports no errors during Verify or Repair (same with Disk Permissions).
Once back in OS X 10.8.3, all the errors that I described previously show up in Disk Utility.  It can't be unmounted since it's my startup disk, so I'm stuck not being able to fix things.

  • Can't change my paper settings to print from Photoshop cs4 printer Epson

I've been trying for hours/days to get my printer to print a custom paper size for greetings cards to my Epson printer via the rear feed. I know it can be done because a friend helped me with it in the past but the setting did not save and they cant remember how they did it. I've been looking on forums and help on the internet but the settings people are saying to use are not available on my Photoshop.

I'm not using CS4 or an Epson (Canon and CS6), but is there a Print Settings option in which you can set a custom size?
