We have not ever gotten what we paid for.  we are suppose to get 105 download speed.  We are lucky if we get over 10 download (tested on different days and all different times of day) The problem started as soon as we upgraded to the faster speed about 2 years ago.  call comcast on numerous occassions and have to WAIT FOREVER. THey make you go through all the stuff on your end.  Then they schedule time. Someone comes out gets it to work for a while like a day or two. Then  you call again and its like they want to start all over with test at home then send someone.   Then eventually you get so fed up spending so much time that you give up and then a few months later try it again.   It wasn't until a few months ago that some tech realized we NEVER were supplied the right equipment to handle the upgraded speed.  Although comcast had no problem charging us for it all this time.  Well we still have problems.  Today my tests have gotten above 10 ONCE.  We turn off devises etc.  Son even uses ethernet connection 100%  and he has problem.  So sick of this.  The thought of going through the process of being put on hold being told to go through their trouble shoot thing to either have them say we are going to try things from here and so you wait and wait with limited and shortlived success-the process is exhuasting.   Looking into other providers.

    It's been about 2 weeks since this problem started happening and I can't fix it no matter what I do. I'm currently on the Blast Plus package which should give me 105 Mbps down and 10 Mbps up, but I'm getting no where near that anymore. I used to hit 110 Mbps down normally and I'd check it weekly since I use my internet a lot. I'm very OCD about it. Just recently I started noticing netflix start to freeze up and lag when this never happened before. I did a speedtest and my internet maxed out at 22 Mbps. Now why would this be? Nothing has changed in my account or computer. There's only one phone and one laptop on this WiFi servicw, and my main PC connected by ethernet which is what I did the test on. I go on facebook or youtube and they take forever to open and once open the pictures won't load. Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?

    If you weren't connected to the Internet, you wouldn't be getting email.
    Are you having an issue with your browsers, i.e., Safari? Have you tried other browsers, i.e., Firefox?

  • Paying Too much Bill and still not getting the High speed Internet that I am Supposed to

    First month I got my bill it was acceptable over $150 because all the technician work and line-up and everything. So I have Verizon double play and Direct Tv together and in 2nd month I got $143.14 bill just for 3mbps internet and on the bill it says i added the service "Change in the Partial Month". First of all I didn't even added the service and it was supposed to be less than $100 dollar bill because the Direct Tv is $23.99 which is my Entertainment Package and the Double Play is $50.99, so the  total bill is going to be pretty much like $90-$100 with tax and everything. If the next month bill comes more than $100, then I am definitely cancelling  Verizon and switch to Optimum Cable. By the way I had Comcast triple play which was $100 for Tv, Internet & Phone for 2 yeas before I had Verzon and I used to get more than 20 mbps internet speed but in Verizon I am getting only 3mbps which is very unsatisfied.

  • Why do I not get email, internet etc in crowded places (Shea Stadium, etc)?

    I get many bars on the iPhone and I have 3G service showing. When I switch to Edge (turn off 3G) it does not help. I used to have similar issues with Blackberry (ATT), though I recall in that case I could not get the Blackberry to show "EDGE".
    This issue seems to occur when I am at a crowded venue, such as Shea Stadium with 50,000+ fans. Similar experience at Flushing Tennis center during US Open.

    How do you know not a single T-Mobile or Verizon subscriber ever have a connection problem or have no issues ever when they are at Shea Stadium with 50,000 people will all or most people while there unable to put their friggin' cell phone down or turn it off for only 3 hours and just enjoy the game without having to yack or text with someone during the game?
    When there are that many people at one location with all or most having to use their cell phone during the event with many likely doing so at the same time, there will be problems I don't care who the provider is.

  • Do you get 3g internet speed/service on an 8330?

    I bought an 8330 on ebay that was hardly used...I like the phone a lot but the internet browser seemed slow and not very advanced and I noticed it doesn't display 3g on the screen.  I was eligible to upgrade and got the Bold 9650 and it displays 3g but I really don't notice the internet being any faster on it...so does the 8330 get 3g even though it doesn't display?
    The 9650 is ok but not impressive.  I do like the theaded text feature in the 5.0 OS and the trackpad is easier to use, but the phone is heavier and the USB port is in an odd place on the lower right side.  It is much more convienent on the upper left side on the 8330 for use when charging at the same time.  I know the 9650 has a faster processor and 512mb and a 2gb sd card, but still i'm thinking my 8330 was just as good for what I need...

    The 8330 is 3G capable. On devices previous to the 9650, 8530 and 9550 the symbol for 3G is different. It's displayed as EV. So when you see 1XEV that means you're getting full 2G and 3G service.
    The speed of web browsing between the two devices is expected to be similar. However, on the Bold 9650 you now have WiFi - so if you connect via WiFi you should notice a little jump in your speeds.

  • Connected to Router, but not getting any Internet access

    So I recently got my parent's old router. It's a Linksys WRT54G. I had used it with my MBP when I lived with them a year ago, and I never had a problem. Airport was always able to locate their network and log into it.
    6 months ago I moved out and have been using a direct Ethernet connection to my Road Runner Cable modem. No problem.
    Yesterday I did some rearranging of my apartment, and now my computer isn't near a cable outlet. So I got the old router old and started getting it running.
    Over many stress filled hours I have it at the point where my MBP is connected to the network (I named it, gave it a password, it shows a strong signal), but I have no Internet access. I even ran the Network Diagnostics a couple times, and it said my Internet connection appeared to be working correctly. Yet I can't open up any pages in Safari.
    I don't know if I need to change any of the router settings?? Or if it's just an old router and I need a new one?? I've unplugged, replugged, and restarted everything numerous times, and still nothing.

    Let me start by mentioning that when I hit the 'reply' button to write this post, it took more than 6 min for the page to appear. During that time, the 'connected time' displayed to the right of the 'radar' icon slid in and out dozens of times (indicating a dropped connection). If you have the 'magic' broth, I'd be happy to drink it.
    You must have seen my posting on the InformationWeek website, which I wrote on after reading the review of the MacBook products in their email newsletter that I receive. I normally don't post on blogs but after reading the pulp in that review - after trying AppleCare and the Genius bar and seeing all of the posts here (with no fix forthcoming from Apple), I felt the need to both vent and to seek a solution outside of these discussion pages.
    I have posted the details of my MBP/Airport connectivity issues in detail on other threads here but I would be happy to reiterate them.
    My problems appeared to start after the 10.5.2 update. My connections became unbearably slow, to the point that I would begin to get Safari browser connection error messages (i.e., no server response...not connected to the internet, etc.) Then I noticed that the 'connected time' displayed to the right on the 'radar' icon in the menu bar was 'sliding' in and out (I didn't realize what this meant at the time but soon realized that every time it 'slid' out (disappeared) represented a 'droped' connection and when it 'slid' back (reappeared) it represented a reconnection. Both at home and at the office, I run under static IP addresses (home = MaxDSL with Westell modem to APEBSg; office = T-1x2 with NetGear). But about a month ago, I did some more testing. I run VM Ware and Windows Vista and my assumption had been, since Vista, running under VM Ware, utilizes all of the Mac I/O ports, that Vista would share the same slowness with the Mac Airport Wi-Fi. I tried it and, much to my surprise, the connection speed was great (like normal). I then tried an Ethernet hardwire to the Ethernet port on the APEBSg and got the same great connection speed.
    So, MBP Airport works with Vista but not with Mac OS and by-passing the Airport Wi-Fi with a hardwire works with both Vista and Mac OS. It's only the Mac OS trying to go through the onboard Airport that gets choked down to unacceptable connection speeds.
    I have tried all of the suggestions posted on the discussion board (resetting the CSM, PMU, etc). But, like everyone else, to no avail.
    So, it's all about being connected via Wi-Fi (with my 'portable'). That's my problem. And, as you can see from all of the posts, it's not just me. So, you must have received the 'wonder machine' when you got your MBP. My MBP is a 1st gen but you can read posts here of people who just bought theirs (some who indicated that they were 'switchers') and it wouldn't connect right out of the box with 10.5.2. So, I realized that it wasn't 'me' - it was a real problem.
    And, I might add that I've been an 'enthusiastic' Apple user since 1979. I've owned almost every model along the way - except for the LISA. In the past year alone, I've encouraged four people to 'switch' to Mac (three of whom I actually accompanied to the Apple Store and helped them with their selection). So, I'm a longtime - happy - user (my wife has a PBG4, my daugher a MacBook, my son a new MBP, plus I have an iMac and a CubeG4) who has hit a bump in the road and have become very frustrated by the fact that Apple does not appear to be responding to a real issue.
    I welcome any advice that you might have to offer.

  • Connected to WiFi but can not get the internet

    I'm really hoping that someone can help. I bought my Ipad yesterday but am unable to connect to the internet. I have connected to my WiFi and have full signal strenght but when I go on Safari it tells me that I'm not connected. I have tried changing some of my settings but can only get as far as the message 'Cannot open page - Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding' I also have the same problem with my Iphone and Ipod touch, I have never tried to sort these as don't need the internet on them. I have tried updating my Itunes and Ipad, both are now fully updated. My internet is working fine on any computer that is not apple... Please help, im pulling my hair out here.

    What do you see if you go to Settings > WiFi and touch the ">" next to your network name?
    If you touch the ">" you will get the details of your network connection. Things like the type of IP address allocation (DHCP, Static, Bootp), assigned IP Address, Subnet Mask, Router address, DNS addresses, etc.
    Please report what you see there.
    Also please identify the make, model and type of router you have.
    Do you know what kind of security you are using on your router? None, WEP, WPA, WPA2?
    When you said, "I have tried changing some of my settings", what did you do?

  • IPad 2 fully connected to Wi-Fi and a VPN, but not getting any internet access

    I'm on iOS 8.3 using an iPad 2, and the other day out of nowhere, I stopped getting internet connection to my iPad. I am still connected to my WiFi network as well as a VPN I was using before I lost internet connection (which is weird, as I figured I'd have lost that), and the WiFi icon is still there. I've tried multiple methods to try and fix the problem:
    updating the iPad (I was on iOS 8.1 when I lost connection)
    forgetting and then rejoining the network
    renewing the lease under the WiFi network's settings
    rebooting the iPad
    turning WiFi off and on
    turning airplane mode and Do Not Disturb mode on, then keeping the iPad turned off for 10 minutes (as suggested here: iPad connected to wifi, but no wifi icon and no internet access?)
    unplugging and then plugging back in the router's power
    turning off the VPN (it hadn't caused any problems for the week I had been using it, but I wanted to make sure)
    doing a hard reset on the iPad
    and NONE of these have done anything to help. I have no idea what to do now, as I can't seem to find really anymore possible solutions. Also, yes, I checked the network IP address and it doesn't start off with "169". And the iPad is the only thing that isn't getting internet access, every other device in my house is doing fine, so I don't think it's the WiFi network itself. Unfortunately I can't try connecting to another WiFi network either to see if I can still actually connect to the internet, as I live in a semi-rural area. I've never run into any issue like this in the 3 years I've had the iPad, and I have no idea what's going on. Will I need to take it into an Apple Store to have it fixed, or is there anything left I might be able to do myself?

    When you unplugged the router did you leave it off for at least 3.minutes?  Try unplugging it again, waiting & then bootimg back up.
    Try to connect your iPad again, 
    If you have another iOS device that is connected, check it's wifi settings under your network the IP address settings & cross compare it to your iPad 2
    Some routers also have settings where you can increase allowable connections. Have you tried connecting just your iPad with no other devices connected?
    if that doesn't work, I would suggest you try & find a public wifi hotspot to see if you can connect there.  If not, then I would suggest your next trip be to a Genius Bar to Let Apple diagnose the issue.

  • Not reaching new internet speed wireless

    Just switched to 50/25 but can only reach max of 25/25 wireless...wired it hit over 50 easy....do I need different network card or settings or something?

    With 802.11n, in order to get more than 54Mbps, you have to either use no encryption or WPA2. To reach the maximum potential throughput, WPA2 with AES is required. I had this issue when I got a new router and noticed the speeds weren't nearly as fast as what it claimed, but as soon as I switched to AES I got 300Mbps link speed rather than topping out at 144 (not enough for 75Mbps FiOS). The Actiontec router doesn't seem to have an option to select AES or no AES, so as long as you pick WPA2 you should be fine.

       After noticing an upgrade available in our area...using the check your speed option  on the broadband package  options page I gave BT sales a call to enquire and look at re-contracting...estimated speed of 15 meg I was informed....so re-contracted..
    I have left the router connected permanently to this date...it has done some re-booting along the way...and now when i do the test i get ....estimated 7meg.

    can anyone help me understand what's going on...I could have got this speed 7mb alot cheaper ,with another ISP in the area...but decided to stay with BT as I have not had any problems untill now....and wanted 15mb dowmloads...mmmm

    tyhere is something wrong with your btspeedtester stats as your throughput speed exceed your connection speed.
    try the test socket as suggested and see if that helps to drop your noise margin nearer normal of 6 as that will help your connection speed.  I still can't see how you you will get anywhere near 15mb with an attenuation of 40.  you need to leave it in the test socket for a few days to see if it helps
    I don't think you are in a banded profile as that normally goes along with a noise margin of 20db+ and connection speeds are normally at the top of a band

  • Get Better Internet Speed

    I'm 14,000ft. from the sub-station with old small gauge wire so I can only get three mbps down and .7 mbps up slow speeds.
    Friends in Los Alamitos got FIOS five years ago.  In Naples, Long Beach four years ago.  We are directly inland ten miles from them and saw the fiber optics wire draped on the pnone lines three years ago.  Now we find out that they leapfrogged us to give St. John Bosco school (three blocks more inland from us) FIOS.
    What are we??? POO FOLKS?????
    I think they are not looking out for anything more than their pocketbooks!!!!
    So I say BOOOOOO on them and lets get some fast cable!

    To my knowledge, they've been doing the same in my area. I wanted to order 7 years ago, and three years ago the Fiber appeared. Hasn't been put to use one bit. All of the schools around here use private connections, rather than FiOS so the fiber is not for them at all.

    I have a problem...
    I cannot stream movies without them "pausing" and "Loading" due to wireless connection that comes up and down...
    My intetnet connection is great...
    The people came and said i might be missing CODES for my router, but they can't touch it because it isn't thier hardware...
    I will do a speedtest and get 10-20MPS one minute.. and the next get 1-2 or less...

    connect a computer directly to your modem and turn off your apple box for now. are you still seeing widely varying speeds? if so, the issue is with your ISP not the apple router.
