RE: Ocx / ActiveX

Patrice,
We use several Controls in our systems, I am not going to say it was always
easy making them work but they all work fine. We have grid controls,
calendars, IE 4.0, home grown controls, etc.

Hi,
I tested some OCX like Acrobat Reader, Ms Calendar and Internet Explorer
4.0.
The best was Acrobat Reader 3.0 : easy to use and working very well (but
needs memory).
The less stable is Internet Explorer 4.0 (it works now to view HTML files).
You can find samples and libraries on http://perso.club-internet.fr/dnguyen/
Hope this helps,

    Hi b w,
    I do not know much about Simply Accounting, however, if the Crystal Reports can be integrated with this software, then their tech support would be the best one to answer the issue with limited access to reports.
    Secondly, if you can get an ODBC driver for your Simply Accounting, you might be able to create reports in Crystal reports (Again with no guarantee as Simply Accounting does not fall in the supported platforms for Crystal Reports).
    I would suggest you to contact the tech support of Simply Accounting to know if there is any specific version of Crystal reports that works best with your software.
    It is simple to create highly professional reports with Crystal reports and you can either refer to the help included with the software or can log on to SAP support site and download the Crystal Reports user's guide to get step by step instructions on creating reports.
    Please do let us know if you have any further questions.

  • Flash8.ocx ActiveX control help

    Where is the documentation for the Flash8.ocx ActiveX
    control? I am trying
    to use the ActiveX control in Excel with VBA. No browser,
    Internet
    connection, web page, html, or JavaScript is present. In the
    object
    browser, I can see methods such as
    Function CallFunction(request As String) As String
    The only Macromedia site search hits for "CallFunction" are
    in user comments
    under a manual page for the External API. I have searched the
    Flash Support
    Center for the words "scripting" and/or "ActiveX". I have
    seen "Scripting
    with Flash". It is incomplete. I have seen "How can I use
    Macromedia's
    ActiveX components in my programs? (TechNote tn_12062)". I
    have read the
    "Support" paragraph therein. We have completed Flash8 Player
    Distribution
    License. Do we really need to buy a support contract to get
    the doc's for
    this control?
    Thanks.

    If the registration worked, then go to the front panel add a ".NET and Active X" ->  "ActiveX Container" control to your block diagram. then right-click on it and choose "Insert ActiveX control". A dialog box will appear and in the drop-down, hopefully your OCX control will be listed (with it's full name, not the filename).  Sometimes it depends on which specific control it is (which you have not yet mentioned).

    Hi Tristan,
    SAP is alwyz backwards compatible. So Active X will still be working.
    Also simply connecting to SAP ECC6 system doesnt confirm whether the VB program is working fine. Execute the VB program, so that the RFC is called in ECC6.0.
    This will confirm whether it works.

  • OCX ActiveX controls obsolete in ECC6?

    We have a Visual Basic (well, VBA in Excel) program that runs RFCs in SAP using the ActiveX controls supplied with the SAP GUI.
    We have been told that this method is obsolete from SAP ECC6 onwards.
    However, I can connect our system to an ECC6 system without any problems.
    Can anyone confirm whether this method is, indeed, obsolete, or maybe just no longer supported but still in place?

  • How to implement ActiveX (OCX) Controls

    Hi All,
    Please help me. I want to call a OCX control in forms 6i. Please let me know how to do it or any documentation is available.
    Thanks
    srini.

    1. You have to create ActiveX control item on your
    canvas.
    2. Use Program / Import library interfaces ... menu in your form builder to import the OLE interfaces to your application. this creates a package in you form where you can sepcify your PL/SQL code for OCX events.
    With Dev 6i we could not make Forms to automatically load the OCX control, the user has to do it by using the context menu. At least this is the case for Winddows 2000.
    Be carefull: OCX / ActiveX is not supported on the Web forms wether it is Forms 6i or 9i.

  • Using OCX in Peoplesoft

    I need to use OCX in peoplesoft. I want to know how to do it ?
    The peoplesoft is installed in Linux environment, can I call OCX ?
    What's the step to make calls to OCX ?
    Where the OCX file needs to be on the server?
    Thanks!

    Hi Manvar and welcome to OTN.
    May I ask why you want to use OCX? As you may know, OCX/ActiveX controls are only applicable to Windows Platforms. Oracle has no plans for ActiveX support over the
    web, and Forms6i is the last version with client/server support. You may also know that Forms6i is desupported since January 31 2005. Programming something with OCX/ActiveX will only make the upgrade burden harder.
    JavaBean support in Forms 6i and above provides similar functionality.

  • Flash ActiveX's CallFunction method always fails (E_FAIL)

    Hi,
    I likely have collected all information in the web, but still
    facing the problem.
    I am trying to
    host the Flash ActiveX in a C# program and establish
    two-way communication between the host application and the
    ActionScript contained in my SWF file.
    On the ActionScript side, I use the
    ExternalInterface class.
    On the ActiveX side, for callbacks, I use the
    IShockwaveFlash::
    FlashCall event, which
    works perfectly in all host applications I have experimented
    with. For direct calls, I use IShockwaveFlash::
    CallFunction() method, which
    doesn't work on some host applications (unfortunately those
    I need). It
    fails with COM error (HRESULT E_FAIL, "Unspecified error").
    Here is what I have done so far:
    1)
    Installed the latest Flash Player 9, registered Flash9c.ocx
    ActiveX.
    2) Granted Flash
    security permission to the folder where my SWF is located by
    prescribing it in
    "C:\Documents and Settings\myname\Application
    Data\Macromedia\Flash Player\#Security\FlashPlayerTrust\myapp.cfg"
    Before I did this, the FlashCall event caused a SecurityError
    reported from the Flash player. So it makes me think that my
    problem is
    not a security issue any more.
    3) Tested the SWF file
    hosted in a browser (both IE and Firefox). The two-way
    communication with JavaScript
    works perfectly in both ways, so it means there's no mistake
    in my ActionScript code, and the way I call ExternalInterface
    methods is correct.
    4) From JavaScript, I tried the following two ways of calling
    the ActionScript function (called "Handshake") in the SWF movie
    object:
    // JavaScript code
    // call directly
    swfMovieObject.Handshake( "hello world" );
    // call via CallFunction
    swfMovieObject.CallFunction( "<invoke name="Handshake"
    returntype="xml"><arguments><string>hello
    world</string></arguments></invoke>" );
    the both methods also worked perfectly, which means
    the <invoke> xml string I am passing is correct.
    5) When hosted in
    VB6 and on MS Access 2003 Form, the CallFunction method
    works perfectly.
    6) Finally, the
    CallFunction method fails to work when hosted in
    Word 2003 document,
    Excel 2003 worksheet,
    VBA form in Word 2003 or Excel 2003, and also
    in a C# program written in Visual Studio 2005.
    I've seen others reporting this problem, but seen no
    resolution so far. It may be that this problem occurs only on
    some machines? For example, the sample .NET program here
    http://www.codeproject.com/cs/media/flashexternalapi.asp?df=100&forumid=226349&exp=0&selec t=1518421
    doesn't work on my machine, although it should have worked on the
    author's machine.
    Please help!

    Just figured this one out. I'm using VC++ 6 with ActiveX Flash 10. The code snippets here will call the Flash function testFunction from VC++ using the CallFunction command and the appropriate XML. In VC++, make the following call assuming that m_flashGUI is the CShockwaveFlash object added to your dialog.
    CString ret = m_flashGUI.CallFunction("<invoke name=\"testFunction\" returntype=\"xml\">"
         "<arguments><string>something</string></arguments></invoke>");
    The key item in the xml string is the "name" parameter. It must match the name in the addCallback function in the Flash movie.
    In the flash movie, have something like the following. The addCallback call is important. Without it the CallFunction from C++ will throw an exception.
    // Import the flash items
    import flash.events.*;
    import flash.external.ExternalInterface;
    // Associate the flash function with the external call
    flash.external.ExternalInterface.addCallback("testFunction", testFunction);
    function testFunction(str:String):Boolean
        // Do something here...
        return (true);
    Good luck!

  • HELP Missing ocx controls

    Re: WVC200
    HELP, inadvertently (stupid me!) some/all of the Active-X controls got deleted from my IE7 Add-ins. Missing are:
    NetCamPlayerWeb... .ocx
    PlayerPT.ocx
    PTControl.ocx
    and maybe others...
    I thought it would be a simple job to reinstall them. I reran the WVC200.exe installation, reran SETUP.exe (from the CD), but the controls have not been reinstalled, and IE7 does not ask to install them either. Hmmm. Now I am staring at a white box when I try to "View Video".
    Can anybody help?
    Thanks.

    The missing OCX ActiveX control is included in the "Linksys Viewer & Recorder Utility".  First, install this software on your computer.  Then, re-boot.  Then, try viewing the video in your browser window again.  It worked for me.
    You don't actually have to use the new software.  The OCX file just gets installed in the right place on your computer to make the "View Video" feature work in your browser window.
    Hope this helps!!!
    Thanks ... Andi

  • Why can't visual basic 6 load CWDAQ.OCX in the example programs? I am using the latest Measurement Studio 6 and VISTA OS.

    Can someone help me with getting controls to work with Visual basic 6 in an Vista environment?  I cannot get the examples to work that use the CWDAQ.OCX control.  I did a search on my computer and the file is not even there.  What functions are in CWDAQ.OCX?  Is there a descriptions of what functions are included in this control and other controls?  It is not obvious where to find these descriptions.
    I did install Measurement Studio 6 with all the options for Visual basic 6.
    I am new to programming NI cards with visual basic so any help in getting me started will be greatly appreciated.
    I need to talk to a PCI-6110 card in visual basic 6.  I would like to preprogrammed the D/A fifos, store to two analog inputs simutaneously, and use some of the digital I/O.  Can someone direct me the direction as to what controls I need to use?
    Thanks in advance for any help or guidance.
    Tony

    Hi Tony,
    So the reason you can't find the CWDAQ.OCX ActiveX controls in VB 6.0 in Vista is because that is a Tradtional DAQ (legacy) control meant to work with the Traditional DAQ Driver.
    The Tradtional DAQ drivers aren't officially supported in Windows Vista (KnowledgeBase 4FDH4MZN: Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy) for Windows Vista OS) and so the CWDAQ.OCX controls don't get installed.
    However, the good news is that the PCI 6110 is a newer card that uses our newer driver, NI-DAQmx. DAQmx is supported in Vista and you can communicate to your card from VB 6.0 using DAQmx in Vista.
    There are several examples that show you how to communicate using DAQmx in VB 6.0.
    These can be found in:
    <Users>\Public\Documents\National Instruments\NI-DAQ\Examples
    This is also mentioned in the following Knowledgebase article:
    KnowledgeBase 47CCSQ5B: NI-DAQmx, NI-VISA and NI-488.2 .NET Example Locations
    Also, the DAQmx functions are documented in the following locations:
    Start»Programs»National Instruments»NI-DAQ»NI-DAQmx C API Visual Basic 6.0 Help
    Start»Programs»National Instruments»NI-DAQ»NI-DAQmx C Reference Help
    Hope this helps!!

  • Does Driver.Start() in CWDAQ.OCX clear msgs from the Queue?

    I am hosting the CWDAO.OCX ActiveX control in my (C++) application, and communicating to it through VBA. I am also communicating to other devices through an OPC (COM) interface, and occasionally COM messages get lost (specifically, the WM_USER message gets removed from the message queue without getting processed).
    It looks like Driver.Start() is removing the messages from the queue. If I add a DoEvents statement to the VBA before starting the driver the frequency of the problem drops significantly.
    Does this sound familiar to anyone?
    Thanks.

    Hi LA,
    Thanks for taking the time to respond to my question.
    It’s actual COM that is posting the message in order to marshal data across an IAdviseSink interface. COM uses WM_USER+0 (which I referred to simply as WM_USER) as the message, with WPARAM set to 0xbabe.
    I am able to spy on the NationalInstruments message window, and it uses WM_USER+0 through WM_USER+12. However, it posts the messages to its own window and usually does not interfere with the COM messages. I suspect that somewhere during an acquisition start it is either clearing the entire message queue, or stripping the WM_USER messages from the queue without first checking the window handle of the messages.
    This causes the OPC server I’m using to hang because it is waiting on my application to respond to a COM callback that it never receives.

  • Shows flash player is installing, but then can't find it and it won't work. Help please

    Hello. My flash playe worked just fine until this morning. I turned my computer on, went to a facebook app., and got a message "if doesn't load in the next 10 seconds, upgrade flash by clicking here" which brought me to adobe I have an Acer laptop, and am running Internet Explorer 7.
    I've done everything I can, but can't get flash player to work. I've uninstalled, re-booted, re-installed, re-booted. I've made sure my security zones are on medium, I've temporarity disabled my virus protection program while uninstalling and installing. I've went under tools, manage add ons, to enable it, but the only adobe add-on listed is adobe PDF link helper and it's enabled. I've checked to make sure Java script is enabled, I've made sure I have the 32 bit browser, I've done everything I could find to do (I've worked on this for hours today).
    When I click to download from adobe site, it shows it installing without a problem, goes all the way through, shows done, then shows to close download manager. If I go through control panel to 'uninstall programs' adobe flash is listed. If I go through start, adobe flash is not listed in my programs and does not come up when I search under start.
    So, from I can find, I can download and install it, but then it's not there and doesn't work. Please Help. I've struggled with this all day, and it's very frustrating, and the only way to reach adobe is to pay $39 for a phone call. I really need help on this, it would be very much appreciated. Please, and thank you.

    Hi, and thanks again for taking the time to help me with this, I sure appreciate it. I ran a disc cleanup, then I went in under internet options and deleted the cookies and such. I got rid of the uninstall and install programs I had in the download folder but still have the ones on the desktop.
    I went to Windows/System32-  but I don't have a Macromed folder there. I have one under the SysWOW64 folder though, a Macromed folder, with a Flash folder under it, with files uner it:
    Flash10l.ocx-  ActiveX control,
    FlashInstall-   Text document,
    FlashUtil10l_ActiveX.dll- Application extension,
    FlashUtil10l_ActiveX-  Application (with a red file by it, and it opens the uninstall program),  and
    install-  Text Document.
    The two text documents say they were created last year, but the other three say they were created today.
    And like I said, these are under the SysWOW64 folder.  The System32 folder does not have a Macromed folder under it at all, and instead of being in alphabetical order from top to bottom, they start with Z and the A's are at the bottom, if that means anything. I called my frienfd and had her check her computer step by step as I did mine, and hers doesn't have a Macromed under the System32 folder either, but does the SysWOW64 file, and it has the same files I do, except two of the first one, the Flash10l.ocx, but with different dates on it.
    I ran my virus scan, avast, and it didn't find anything. I did close the browsers to run the Window Defender and Malwarebytes, and tried it again a few minutes ago, and they are still saying they find nothing. The malwarebytes found 7 things this morning when I ran it, but hasn't found anything since.

  • Call a RFC function in VB but without SAPGui install in the system.

    Hi,
    Do you have example of code, to be able to call a RFC with the VB or C/C++ without needed to have the SAPGui install in the client.
    The RFC will be call by a server, so I don't want to install a SAPGui release on this server.
    Regards
    Frédéric

    Hi,
    You can access the RFC using VB by the SAP DCOM connector, or for a more basic solution you can access the wdtfuncs.ocx(ActiveX control).
    I think it has a Login control in it, you can have documentation while installing RFC SDK from SAPGui CD and it will give you some basic samples of how to use these controls.
    Or you can search in help.sap.com and search for "Example Application with the Function Control" and it should return the results to give your VB example.

  • Search Tab in WebHelp Not Displaying Any Topics

    Let me preface this thread by saying that I JUST figured out the answer to my own problem. I tried to post this thread about 2 hours ago, but the forum was having issues...I got unexpected errors, and such. Although I figured out the answer a moment ago, I wanted to post the thread anyway, in case others come across the same problem, they will know how to fix it.
    The Search tab in WebHelp doesn't work. No matter what I do, no topics will display when I enter search terms that I *know* are in the Help system. I have another project on the same computer, and the Search tab in that project works fine. I tried to attach screenshots, but keep getting an "unexpected error," so I gave up. But basically, if I enter a search term and click Go, "No topics found" displays.
    When the WebHelp is being generated for this project, the following displays in the Output View:
    "Processing Full-text-search data...
    Finished processing Full-Text-Search data in 0 sec(s)"
    It looks like something that is needed in order to do the full-text-search is missing, but I have no idea what. I have read several threads in the forums regarding Search tab issues that others have had.
    I have:
        * Ensured that the itss.dll and itircl.dll are registered and in my C:\WINDOWS\system32 folder
        * Confirmed that I have keyhelp.ocx and hhctrl.ocx in my C:\WINDOWS\system32 folder
        * Used the same browser to view the WebHelp output for both projects (firefox 3.6.18)
        * Checked the project settings - they match
        * Checked everything in the WebHelp Settings window - General, Content Categories, Navigation, Search and Publish - everything matches in both projects
        * Tried creating a new webhelp layout, selecting a different skin...
    everything, to no avail.
    When the WebHelp is being generated for the project where the Search tab works, the following displays in the Output View:
    "Processing Full-text-search data...
    Finished processing Full-Text-Search data in 115 sec(s)
    I can't understand why the Search tab works in one project, but not the other project. See the diagnostic report below. According to the report, the only thing I don't have (and don't know how to get) is MS Help 2. But why would my search work in one project and not the other, despite not having MS Help 2? Both project have the same settings and I'm generating the same output - WebHelp. Any ideas why my Search tab works in one project, but not my other project?
    Thanks in advance for any assistance!

    NOTE: In my original post, I forgot to include the diagnostic report that was produced by using the diagnostics tool mentioned in other threads where forum members were having problems with the Search tab, so here it is (just so that this thread is complete)...

  • Can't install Flash on Vista clean install

    OK...I am thoroughly frustrated. I am working on a clean
    install of Vista Ultimate, administrator account with all requisite
    permissions, IE7 is conifgured to prompt for Active X, etc. Yet,
    when I try to install Flash Player, I get to the screen that has
    the green bars running across as if it is installing. Then, it
    either runs forever, or I get a pop-up saying "Network Error" or
    "Download Interrupted". I am able to download anything from every
    other site on the web, so I am not worried about my network
    settings. When I check system32/.Macromed directory, there is no
    Flash sub-directory, only a Download directory. In that directory
    are the following files: Install.exe and Download.dll.
    Can anyone please help??? I am pulling my hair out (and I
    don't have a lot left!)
    P.S. I have another Vista computer that has FLash on it. Can
    I just copy the files from that computer?

    That's interesting, and unusual. The two files that you DO
    see are put there by the install process. They basically -are- the
    Flash Player installer.
    If you were installing the Flash Player PLUGIN (for FireFox,
    any non-IE windows browser) then you could copy it over. But for
    the OCX activeX control install you cannot. It has to actually
    install.
    Can you grab and post a screen shot of those errors? I don't
    find any other similar cases in the database.. it's not clear to me
    if they're coming from Vista or from the installer..
