Re-order images in folder after timezone change

*smacks the foreheard* I forgot to change the timezone on the camera when I arrived in a different continent and all my pictures are 8h behind. I have imported the holidays pictures into folders arranged by the day the pictures was taken and therefore many of the pictures are put in the wrong folder.
Correcting the pictures for the difference in the time zone was a cinch. However the pictures are still in the wrong folder! Updating/Synchronizing the folder does not put the pictures in the right folder. How can I do this, sorry for asking, being a bit of noob?

When you get back from the pub...
Turn on the Metadata Filters at the top of the grid, and set it to Date.  Since you've corrected the capture time, they'll be filtered correctly.  Select all the photos from the first date and drag to the correct date folder.  If they're already in the right folder nothing will happen, only the ones in the wrong folder will move.  Repeat once for each day.  As long as it wasn't a really long holiday, you'll be done in a few minutes.

  • PSE 10 tossing images in trash after I change the date on a mac

Is it normal for PSE 10 to throw images in the trash after I change the date of a image? I have a bunch of images that came in with the wrong date from my camera, I decided finally to correct the date. I noticed my trash can suddenly with content, I opened it and all the images I changed the date on were in the trash can. This makes me nervous if I should empty the trash. Is this normal for these images to get tossed? It doesn't keep the original somewhere?
    I'm on a macbook pro, os x 10.7.2 lion.

    Hi,
If you are adjusting date time of your images, the new images with new date time are created with the same name as the older ones. So they replace the old files on the disk location. As such the older files (with old date time) are sent to trash. Also, why would one want to clutter his catalog with duplicates having one set of wrong timed media and a duplicate set of correctly timed media.
I guess this is how organizer understands the workflow.
So possibly you can safely empty your trash, but this does mean loosing out on your 'old-timed' media.
    Thanks

  • Preserving image sizing/framing after antialias change

    Hi,
I have some image quality issues after scaling down some images in a Motion 2 sequence. The images get very pixelated when downsized but fine at normal res. I learned in a post here to switch antialiasing to 'Best.' That helps the resolution issue - they look nice and clear now - but now almost all off them have become distorted in some way, either like they're now anamorphic or just plain warped in some cases. Other images in the sequence are great as a result of the change.
Anyone know what I can do to correct the problem images? Playing with the pixel aspect ratio doesn't help. Since new images I bring in are ok, I'm thinking there's a setting somewhere to handle the existing images. I'd hate to replace each image but I'm on my way there.
    Thanks,
    Tony

Ah, so applying a better antialiasing method means affecting the pre-cropped image which explains the distortion effect that is appearing - similar to the Gaussian Blur example. Not sure why the 'best' method would bring this out and not the other methods but I suppose it's crossing some threshold that 'normal' is not?
Thanks, Patrick. That motionsmarts site looks great. I'm still unclear on what's happening for the smaller images but some experimenting should clear that up. Meanwhile, I wound up cropping them in Photoshop and bringing them back in. At least now I know what was going on.

  • Dates off by 1 hour after timezone changed

Subject says it all.  All my xMII screens now show 1 hour early.  What is the configuration/setting to fix this?
    Thanks.

You may want to do a search on all date ranges for Daylight Savings.  Most of the errors were run into a year or more ago.  Here is an interesting one which might help you.

  • Long waiting times when going back to the organizer after doing changes of images. Elements 11.

After doing changes of images and going back to the organizer I have to wait a long time. This was not the case when I used elements 9. I have a lot of images stored around 18000. There are also often long waiting times when I move around in the organizer. Any suggestion?

  • Load images from folder

I havent used flash in a couple years and i'm feeling a
little lost (not that i knew what i was doing before!) I am however
determined and can understand the code, i just am a little
    overwhelmed.
I'd like to tell a movie clip to look into a specific folder
(via url or whatever) and load all images from that folder into the
movie clip. I do not want to have to give the movie the exact
address of each image, as they files may change / be added to over
    time.
i know in AS3 i have to use the loader class and then the
addChild to put the loaded stuff into the movie (and thats all i
know), but i just dont know how to get all available images
blindly. any help? please and thank you

You have the right info for the Loader and addChild part.
But I'm afraid you can't use flash to request a directory
listing on your server directly. You can have a script on your
server return the directory listing to flash after the script
performs a directory listing (e.g. php).
Other than that approach (using serverside scripting)...
You could have all the images with a common naming convention
and a numeric suffix and just keep loading in turn until you
encounter a loading error (which your code is set up to
    detect).....
    e.g. image1.jpg, image2,jpg etc
    or:
You could set up some manually coded xml to point to the urls
of each image etc. It seems you want to avoid this though. (This is
pretty much the same idea as the server side scripting except that
instead of using scripting you create the data by 'hand' as xml).

  • Toshiba Satellite p75-A7200 stuck on toshiba logo after bios change

My Toshiba Satellite p75-A7200 is stuck on toshiba logo after bios change.
entered bios fine changes from UEFI to CSM boot and now i cannot enter bios or boot past toshiba logo.
Ive tried F2 tapping and holding while powering up the laptop(tried every Fkey,DEL,ESC, with and without FN key)
    cannot re-enter bios.
Also i tried to run the bios update cd created multiple  1.50 1.40 even 1.00, it doesnt seem to read any media.
i tried holding C, FN+C and f and just about every key on the keyboard to get something to work. i had dvd as top of boot priority for a while now so i shouldnt have to try f12 or holding C before boot but i tried . it doesnt seem to read any media
i tried windows 8 install cd, Ubuntu, centos, nothing goes past toshiba logo and no errors, i dont get the non bootable device error so its seems to not be reading the dvd. (dvd does spin and make read noises) im trying to find my usb floppy drive to try a floppy version but it acts like its not reading any media.
I also pulled the HDD and all usb devices to make the dvd the only media available and with the HDD out it spins then toshiba logo then black screen with solid white  horizontal curser on top left of screen.(only happens when hdd out)
is there some type of key combination that will force a bios update or a crisis recovery mode for bios.
I also Pulled the battery for 2 solid days(battery, cmos battery, and power supply and held power button for about 10 mins while watching tx to make sure the thing was drained before the 2 day sit with no power at all.
this happened the second i changed from UEFI to CSM boot so its not a motherboard problem or anything like that because all was well before this setting change.
I already pulled the HDD and backed it up to another drive and swapped it to elimiate that.
any ideas on a secret key combo to force a bios read from dvd or usb or anythng.
or another combo that im just missing to enter bios after CSM boot.
    UPDATE
to do a crisis recovery on this laptop
1 get a usb stick and format it in fat or fat32
2 download "7zip" and install it if you dont have it.
3 download bios from toshiba website.
4 run the installer for bios but dont choose and option just close it we just want to extract the files to the location normally  c:\splnvxxx where xxx is the version number like 150
5 goto the installed locaion "c:\splnv150" or whatever number.
    6. find file os2014273a_150 or something similar. it will be an application, it will end in version number _150, and it will also have a disc image file of the same name. but we want the app.
    7. right click on it and you should have an option 7zip then extract
once extracted there is a folder now archesxxxxxx_bios_v150_win
8 copy the bios file located in archesxxxxxblahblah/X64/BIOS.fd , BIOS.fd is the bios and just copy that to a BLANK usb thumb drive that was formatted with fat or fat32.
    9. put usb into your satellite and unplug the power from it.
10 holding FN + ESC key together plug the power back in and press power button.
    11. release keys FN and ESC if all is right it will have the power button and led on from blink abut every 1 second while it searches for the bios. once its done it will reboot and you should be good to go.
if it keeps cycling with the power button then the bios is named wrong or something is not right with the usb. try reformatting it again and make sure that the bios file is the ONLY thing on the drive.

Ok a little research and digging into the bios exe downloaded from toshiba shows this has INSYDE BIOS witch should have a recovery process wich i prepared a usb stick with just the bios.fd on it found some post around toshiba forums with different models using win +B or Fn + F but neither of these worked for me to force bios update
anyone with this model know the key combo to force recovery

  • Freezing/Crashing in sleep or hibernate mode after hardware change

Hello. To get right to the chase, I have this envy 15 series laptop. It came with a 768GB hdd, which I upgraded to an SSD (512GB one) Recently, I decided to downgrade the storage back to the original hdd the laptop came with. I was obviously expecting my system's performance to decrease, especially with boot times and what not, but I was also expecting the performance to be the same as what it was when I originally received my laptop, more or less. However, this has not been the case. The laptop's performance has greatly suffered after reinstalling the *originaly hdd this laptop came with* Issues: Boot up times are ridiculously slow now. I mean, so slow that I figure I should go downstairs and have a drink while I wait for it to boot slow. It was never even remotely this slow, before or after upgrading to my ssd. When the pc goes to sleep, it does not wake up. Perhaps it would wake up if I left it alone for a few hours, but I'm not willing to do that, and no one should be. I'm also speaking literally right now. I have to force my laptop off and then turn it on normally in order to boot back from "sleep" mode. I've since had to turn off automatic sleep. If I close the lid to let my laptop hybernate, it does not recover. When I turn it on, it looks like it will return from hypernate, but it does not. It turns itself off. When I turn it on again, it boots normally, but it does so as if I had shutdown the pc and then booted back up. It takes windows a long time to login, and get everything running so that the pc runs normal. None of this is normal. This pc has absolutely no excuse to be running this slow. It never has, and it only started after switching back to my hdd. What I did: I cloned my HDD onto an SSD. In case it matters, I used Acronis true image to do it. Last night, I switched back, and used the same software to clone my SSD back into my HDD. I'm not sure if this is relevant, but there you go. I used sector writes to clone the SSD back into the HDD. I think I did the same to clone the HDD into the SSD the first go around, as I seem to recall having issues with the automatic clone last time as well as this time, but I'm not 100% positive. Troubleshooting steps I've taken: I first ran a complete chkdsk /r in order to fix any problems, and then allow me to extend my C drive for all of the free space my disk now had, due to cloning a smaller drive. I then did a full defrag and optimize on my disk. Finally I ran winsat to recheck my hw's performance, and let windows know that I no longer had an SSD but rather an HDD. This turned superfetch back on, and I confirmed that it was now running again. I'm not really sure what else to do.

I have looked into your issue about your HP ENVY 15-j171nr Notebook and issues with Freezing/Crashing in sleep or hibernate mode after hardware change. Here is a link on performance issues. I recommend to restore the BIOS defaults. You could restore the BIOS with this document selecting the reloading the BIOS default settings which has helped others. I hope this helps. Thanks.

  • "Rendering: settings changed" after saving changes from Bridge

I have LR 2.6 on my Mac.  I import RAW images through LR, let LR build 1:1 previews.  Once the import has finished & previews are built, LR moves from image to image fine.  I then do my basic edits, deletions, and do a batch renumber.
Next I go to Bridge to make my adjustments in the RAW window without opening the files.  I go back to LR, save the changes, allowing the Bridge changes to overwrite the LR development import presets in the xmp files.
It usually takes LR a while to save all the changes, but eventually it does it.  However, here is my issue.  No matter how much time I give LR to render new previews, I don't think it does, at least not until I go to Library mode double click an image to view larger (to fit the window).  When I go from image to image, it takes a few seconds while displaying the message "Rendering: settings changed..."  Now, this is not necessarily right after I save the changes, but it still happens weeks later- whenever I go to view those images.  Does LR not automatically re-render the previews after development changes have been made and saved to LR?
And if not, how would I force LR to do it for that catalog, or for all my images?
    Thanks,
    R

    Robert Ripps wrote:
A fair question- one, when I have tried, LR is way slower on my Mac G5 than doing it in Bridge, which is slow itself.  I just launched LR, had an open folder with 303 images in it which I had already rendered previews of, then clicked on Develop module- it took 13 seconds to go to that module & finish "loading".  Yes, a new commuter would solve many problems <g>, but until then....
What you  may need is more RAM. Or do you have other applications working in the background 13 seconds to build a preview!!!!! Using a old Macbook with 1.2 GB RAM an it does it faster than that!LR doesn't require a lot of power from a machine...it does need as much RAM as you can stick in a machine and the fastest disks you can use...but if it is taking 13 seconds to build a single preview then it isn't really worth using IMO
Why not make all you RAW adjustments in Lightroom Develop module. The raw processing engine is the same as ACR and you can choose "auto save changes to xmp" in the preferences.
Ah, bingo.  That works, abet slowly (see above).  Okay, I will just have to remember to manually do that once I save changes to LR from xmp data.  I guess I thought LR would be smart enugh to do that itself, but I guess not.  And again, I find it faster to go back & forths, even with an extra step.
LR can be set to automatically write any changes to xmp, it doesn't have to be done manually (set this in preferences) you just have the choice. It won't read changes made in other applications automatically as this would be a very bad idea..it would after all over write the LR database. So if you do want to over write the LR database you must activly choose to do so.

  • My ipod works in itunes but does not appear in "my computer" after I changed the properties

My ipod works in itunes but does not appear in "my computer" after I changed the properties.
First off, I'm using Windows XP (and Mac SnowLeopard) Here's how it started. For some reason my ipod started showing up as a camera when I plugged it in. It works fine in itunes, though. But when I tried to access it from "my computer" it only
showed me the one and only picture I had on my ipod. I deleted that picture hoping it would no longer show up as a camera. When it still did I right-clicked on it in "my computer" and selected "properties". Under "autoplay" I
chose for it to 'not show up' or 'take no action' or some such deal when I plugged it in. I thought that would stop it from popping up the window that asks whether i want to 'open camera wizard' or 'open camera scanning' or 'open folder to view files' or 'take
no action' , etc. But now it won't show up in "my computer" at all. I also have a Mac with SnowLeopard. When I plugged my ipod into it my ipod doesn't show up in "finder" either! So basically my problem is not a mechanical one with hardware
or software; yht ipod still works fine in itunes. I just need to undo the change I made. I've searched all around my preferences, utilities, options, etc. It shows up on my "Device Manager" but not on "Disk Management".
Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi,
To show up in Windows Explorer, you can try placing the iPod into
    disk mode.
    Moreover, i recommend you to
    restore ipod to factory settings.
If this issue still persists, locate to device manager, uninstall and reinstall USB Mass Storage Device driver.

  • Admin permanent status gone after password change

    Hi everyone.
a couple of days ago i decided to change my password as good safety measure. changed as usual, only getting a message about keychain and a possible need to do the change in it after unlocking. seemed pretty standard to me, don't know if it is. (6 month mac user...)
however, for some strange reason, afterwards the change, even if i am still an admin in the user accounts i have to identify myself with pass every time i need to do some change in admin areas, as changing the apps in the apps folder.
i seem to be working as a standard guest , needing to elevate my status every time i need to something standard as changing my apps or renaming them.
i've tried correcti the permissions in the disk utility and also tried to repair my keychain, without great sucess.
anyone knows how can i get my permanent admin status again? it's a pain to need to type a password every time i want to drag and drop an app!

    everyone: read
i haven't changed them before but i have found that if i had a admin group with read and write permissions i can have back my standard usage. however i don't know the implications of this and don't like treating the symptom, prefer instead to treat the cause

  • New Date() in Safari 6.0.3 gives +- 1 hour during timezone change

    Hi,
Java Script Date object adds one additional hour when Date is parsed in the below format.
This happens until the 10th hour on timezone change day which is 03/10/2013 (PST to PDT change).
    new Date ('3/10/2013 02:00'); =>
    Gives Sun Mar 10 2013 03:00:00 GMT-0700 (PDT)
    new Date ('3/10/2013 09:00'); =>Gives
    Sun Mar 10 2013 10:00:00 GMT-0700 (PDT)
    new Date ('3/10/2013 10:00'); => Gives
    Sun Mar 10 2013 10:00:00 GMT-0700 (PDT)
Likewise upon timezone change from PDT to PST (First Sunday of November), date parsed using new Date() subtracts 1 hour.
    new Date ('11/03/2013 02:00'); =>
    Sun Nov 03 2013 01:00:00 GMT-0800 (PST)
    new Date('11/03/2013 07:00');
    Sun Nov 03 2013 06:00:00 GMT-0800 (PST)
    new Date('11/03/2013 08:00');
    Sun Nov 03 2013 07:00:00 GMT-0800 (PST)
    new Date('11/03/2013 09:00');
    Sun Nov 03 2013 09:00:00 GMT-0800 (PST)
Does anyone know if we have a fix for this in upcoming releases?
    Thanks.

Somehow, you've got part of Safari's frameworks for Mountain Lion calling for something that doesn't exist in Lion.
Sounds like you already downloaded/installed safari 6.0.3 for Lion via software update, and yet it didn't alter that.
You could try removing /System/Library/StagedFrameworks/Safari/ before running the install again, or 'force' the update using Pacifist...  but for ease, if not time too (since there might be other wrong files), I'd suggest you boot into Recovery & reinstall the OS, then run software update (after backing up, of course).

  • My iphone 5 is stuck in recovery mode after battery change?

my iphone 5 is stuck in recovery mode after battery change, I decided to change my faulty iphone 5 battery as i was out of warrenty, I managed to chance the battery with no problems (I Think), when i put the phone back together and tried to power on with the power button, nothing happened.!  i connected to itunes and it powered on, displaying the connect to itunes screen (recovery mode) all was going well, the phone was restoring, the image of the phone restoring and loading up was displayed on the screen, when it finished it restarted but to show the connect to itunes screen again, it is stuck in the recovery loop. i tried the steps with holding the power and home button etc, none worked.! now when i try to restore, it extracts software but then, ' the iphone could not be restored, an unknown error occured (3194)' comes up, any ideas out there???? and Happy Christmas to Everyone ,

    Hello Andyoneill9,
It sounds like you are trying to restore your phone but keep getting an errror message 3194. I want to recommend the troubleshooting steps from this article named:
Error 3194 or "This device isn't eligible for the requested build"
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4451
    Resolution
Important: If you see one of these messages and need help updating or restoring your iOS device, Install the latest version of iTunes and try to update or restore again. After that, follow these steps if you need more help.
    Check your "hosts" file
After you've updated iTunes to the latest version, you can check the hosts file to be sure your computer can contact the update server. Use the numbered steps below if you’re on a Mac.
If you’re using a Windows computer, follow steps in this Microsoft support article, noting that resetting the hosts file will affect software services that rely on hosts file redirects. If you're using Windows on a business computer, consult your IT department to be sure applications will still work correctly after resetting the hosts file.
In the Finder, choose Applications > Utilities.
    Open Terminal.
Enter this command and then press Return:
    sudo nano /private/etc/hosts
Enter the password you use to sign in to your computer and press Return. You won't see text appear in the Terminal window when you enter the password. Make sure you use a nonblank administrator password.
Terminal will display the hosts file. Navigate using the arrow keys and look for an entry containing “gs.apple.com”.
Add the # symbol and a space ("# ") to the beginning of the gs.apple.com entry.
Press Control-O to save the file. Then, press Enter when prompted for the filename and Control-X to exit the editor.
    Restart your computer.
Try to update or restore your iOS device again.
This is the first troublehsooting step to try, so there are additional things to try if needed you need them.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Disk Utility 'Disk Image from Folder' looses file create date?

    Hi,
I have been working on creating backups that maintain the files' create dates. I have found the following anomoly using Disk Utility.
If I create a Disk Image From Folder, the create dates of all files are changed to be the same as the last modify dates. Not what I want.
If I creat a Blank Disk Image, and then using Finder to copy the files to the Disk Image, the create dates remain unchanged.
I can then burn the backup CD's with the Disk Image and the files' create dates are maintained. So, future restore from the backup CD will contain the original files' create dates.
Does anyone know if Disk Utility's Create Disk Image from Folder is supposed to loose the files' create dates? What other file attributes are being lost? Mac OS X maintains all of these attributes, and create dates via Finder copies, I would expect the Disk Utility Create Disk Image from Folder to do the same.
    Bob Horton

To follow up on this post, I know at least part of the answer. The difference between the two becomes clearer if you read the documentation (man pages) for hdiutil and asr. Image 1 will be created in file mode, whereas image 2 will be in block mode, ie bypassing the file system. Image 1 will consist of a series of files, whereas image 2 will contain a series of blocks, mirroring the original layout of the hard disk.
Technically the latter should be faster to restore (in block mode), although Apple recommend the first procedure (see man page for hdiutil). I haven't seen any evidence that images created in block mode can be mounted or restored, although you might be able to burn such images to a optical disks if applicable.
As I've pointed out in another thread (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1508199&tstart=0) I believe that this functionality should not be offered in disk utility, and I consider it a serious bug.
