While editing photos, our power went out. Now when I edit photos, the photo doesn't appear. Instead there is an hour glass symbol. However, if I click on the symbol, the photo will pop up. Also, when I add new photos, I get the hour glass symbol not the photo. How can I get rid of this symbol? If I re-install the program from a disc, will my albums still be in the new installation?

Thank you so much. I can get to the Catalogue Window, but clicking on "repair" does nothing - it's not highlighted as an option - any suggestions? I also tried "edit" "select all" - update thumbnail - still have the hour glass.

I've tried to troubleshoot downloading Firefox but it won't open on Windows XP. The Firefox Update box with the hour glass symbol runs for hours. Then I have trouble even shutting down. When I click on Firefox, no window, program won't quit, etc....

When returning to the Profile Manager, you might be tempted to use the Delete Profile button. How to recover from "hour glass symbol"

Hi All,
I have logged into Oracle and Discoverer several times today and every time when I'm running a report in Discoverer, it quits responding. This is after I already have the data, and I'm scrolling to the bottom of the data to get the next 10,000 rows.
I just get the "hour glass symbol" and then i basically have to shut down and restart my computer.
Please advice what can I do.

Hi Kamal,
I get the same problem sometimes in Discoverer Plus. However, I only have to use task manager to kill my discoverer application and can then log back into disco verer OK. I don't have to restart my machine.
The only answers I have come up with are:
1) Use Discoverer Desktop instead
2) Be very careful scrolling down through lots of data. Try paging down by clicking on the scroll bar instead.
At least you know you are not alone....

bei mir zeigt PSE 5 beim Laden von vielen Dateien auch die Eieruhren an - aber nur vorübergehend. Und das auch nur dann, wenn viele RAW-Dateien (Nikon-NEF) darzustellen sind. Mein Rechner ist auch nicht der neueste und läuft mit WIN XP Home.
Verschwindet die Sanduhr bei einigen Dateien gar nicht? Welches Betriebssystem verwendest Du?

up until last month my photos showed up as normal thumbnails but I must have changed something?? Anything I import into PS Elements 9 Organizer is blank, only shows an hourglass. Can someone please help??

First of all, this is a user-user forum and although some employess do pop in from time to time, Adobe don't monitor this one.
It could be that your problem is not that common which is why you haven't had any other replies.

Can I assume you are using Windows?
Have you tried right clicking on one of the hour glasses and selecting Update Thumbnail to see if that one gets generated?

Are you updating from the Editor, if not go to Expert Mode and click:
Help >> Updates
But check first under the Help menu that you are signed-in - your email address used for you Adobe ID should be visible. You should be able to update to v8.5

In Photoshop Elements 7, is it normal for file/catalog/repair to take several hours? I have, probably a few thousand photos.

No, that's not normal. For a catalog of that size, it should take no more than a minute or so.
I recommend rebooting your computer and then trying it again.

Ya, okay ! I use a number of PSE programs, one of which is PSE 9. The tools for some reason seem to have frozen. When I use the move tool I don't get just one hand but 3 hand symbols all next to each other. Same thing with the crop tool, I don't get one symbol but 3 all next to each other. There are a couple of tools that just don't work at all. It's like the PSE 9 got hit with some virus or sorts. Oh well, live and learn. Trying to get through to tech service is next to impossible.

Have you seen this other thread you started about this problem?

I am trying to download trial version of Photoshop Elements 10 and it saya it will take 3 hours to download. Why does it take so long? I thought the days of long downloads were like the dinosaurs, a thing of the past.

I am the author of above post, and I want adobe to be aware that I have uninstalled their product and will not be considering any products to be purchased from them. I spent several hrs. last night and all day today watching hour after hour of tutorials on the elements program and was still unable to complete a single project. I phoned support.
