Re: Poor Broadband Service & Poor BT Support

Can someone please advise on an alternative to the BT home hub 3? I've been having a lot of problems with my wired connection. When I had ADSL, I only had one box. Now I've got two. BT say one is the modem and one is the hub. Can someone please explain? What's the difference between a modem, a router, a hub and a switch? What should I buy to get the darned thing working?
Solved!
Go to Solution.

A modem converts the analogue signal from the cabinet to digital.
A router connects 2 networks together.
A hub is BT's pet name for a router.
A switch splits a network connection into 4, 8, or more connections.
You are looking for another router to replace the hub, they used to be referred to as "cable routers"

  • Very very upset with Verizon service and tech support. Ready to cancell

I have been on the phone and live chat for over 10 hours with several different tech people.  Each one says they have fixed the problem but to no avail.  I am really really upset about this and would like to talk to some who can FIX the problems.  I am ready to cancel Verizon all together.

My email was hacked.  So I did live chat and they told me that I needed to change my password.  So I did.  When I went to sign on again it wouldn't let me.  So I did live chat again they tried for about an hour via access to my computer, could not figure it out.  Then I was told that Verizon is no longer going to associate with Yahoo that I need to just go thru Veizon.  This person did not know how to do that so I called and talked to a Rich {edited for privacy} he tried to fix this again via access to my computer to no avail.  He told me that he would have someone call me back the next night who could fix this.  No one called me the next night.  I called again I tried to get back with Rich but the person said I could not do that.  So I began again explaining my situation, this person said that I would need to update my router, but of course it was going to cost me an additional $10.00 a month.  So I ordered the new router.  I was then transferred to James {edited for privacy} he transfered everything from my Yahoo account and was going to set it up under Verizon.  He could not get the information transferred so he told me that someone would call me back the next night to help me.  No one called me back.  I received a phone message from Jack that he cancelled my Yahoo account but I couldn't understand what he was saying because he was cutting in and out.  Called again and told the person that I was having trouble again and that I been having the same problem for awhile and wanted to talk to a supervisor.  I was told that she would send me an "escalation email" and I would be able to get help right away.  When I tried to download this email it takes me to Photo Shop??!!!   Was then transferred to Dan.  He told me that my files, contacts from Yahoo were gone.  He tried via access to my computer and said there was no way to get my files back.  He told me that this should not have been done like this.  After about 3 hours on the phone with him he was able to get my files back but all my contacts were gone.  I now have Verizon email but is not working properly.  My phone is no longer connected to my computer all my notes are gone, etc.   I was told my router would give me faster internet speed 75/75.  My computer is slower now then it ever has been, just signes out in the middle of doing something.  I did live chat again to question my internet speed and was given a link to check my speed.  It came back as 47.48 dowload and 44.78 for uploading.  When I questioned why it was not 75/75 he said something must be wrong.
I have ask several times for a person to come out and fix my computer but am told it must be fixed on the phone by tech support.  I have tried several times and it is not working.  I have been a customer for over 15 years and I have never had such poor customer support.  I just want my computer back to the way it was before.

  • "SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services does not support map report items"

    Hi,
I am trying some new feature that are introduced in SQL Server 2008 R2 version. While I try to use "Map" control within it, it threw the following error:-
"Error 1 The map, Map1, was removed from the report. SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services does not support map report items. "
-Also, similar kind of error I am getting for "Indicator" control.

    Hi Tej,
I think you get this error message when you are deploying a report to report server using BIDS, correct?  If not, please provide more details on your scenario :-)
If I guessed correctly, then this message is a result of trying to deploy a map report (a SSRS 2008 R2 feature) to a non-R2 2008 report server.  When deploying a report of RDL2010 format to a non-R2 report server, BIDS will downgrade the file to RDL2008 format, so that the non-R2 report server can process it.  Any report elements using features not supported in RDL2008 will be dropped during this downgrade process.
BIDS gets the server version from a report project property called TargetServerVersion:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee635898(SQL.105).aspx
If your report server is indeed the 2008 R2 version, then the TargetServerVersion property should be set to "SQL Server 2008 R2 Reporting Services."  The project property page also has a "Auto Detect..." option if you are uncertain about the version of your report server.
    Hope this helps!
    Cheers,

  • "Service no longer supported. Account is not acces...

Hello. Since this morning (Thursday 29th) I can't seem to access my emails via Hotmail. It is the only email system I use. I just get the following message: "Service no longer supported. Account is not accessible anymore."
What does this mean? I've tried removing my account and setting it up again but same thing. I googled it and it seems other people have had this problem but there is nothing about why or how to fix it. I've read something about Microsoft changing Hotmail or Outlook or something. Can someone help?

Never mind I've just turned off my phone, taken out the battery and sim, wiped the sim and put it in after 2 minutes. Turned it on and its working again Not sure if the clearing cache thing worked but thanks

  • Exchange 2010 - WS-Management Service does not support

    Hi,
We have a tool which was used for bulk Mailbox creation, Mailbox Movement etc. This we have used in Exchange 2007 also and was working fine. Now in Exchange 2010 we are facing some issues. Tool is written in VB.
Exchange 2010 SP2 is running in all servers and we have 2 Mailbox Servers in DAG and 2 HUBCAS in CAS Array/NLB.
When Team is trying to fetch the DB details in exchange 2010 through tool they are not able to connect and getting error as
"Connecting to remote Server failed with the following error message. The WS-Management Service does not support the request."
I have checked everything from Exchange like Remorepowersell status, WinRM, WS Managemet dll location and entry in config file everthing seems to be fine.
I checked through EMTShooter tool also and no issues reported and connection was success through EMTShooter.
Pls suggest if anymore we can check to fix the problem.
Note: everything is working frine from Powershell and Exchange Management console.

  • Infinity roll-out kills Standard Broadband Service

BT have rolled out Infinity to my area and since the roll-out my Standard Broadband Service has deteriorated to an extent that BT have confirmed they can longer guarantee me that service (despite the fact they are still willing to charge me for it)! Anyone else been impacted in this way?  I've been told my only option to obtain Broadband is to pay for the more expensive Infinity.

Its not an issue in all areas, but the longer the distance from the cab, the more noticeable it is. Generally, if people are getting very low speeds due to distance, it does make sense for them to upgrade to Infinity, if its available.
I believe that the Infinity pricing is fairly competitive anyway.
Infinity has not really interested me because I get between 9-11Mb on my line, and I use broadband talk quite a lot.
My local connection is not perfect, and one of the two pairs into my house are faulty anyway, and the current pair does have a HR somewhere, which can show itself if the landline is not used for a week (no DC wetting, if you know what that means)
That can result in an occasional disconnection on an incoming PSTN call, but not enough to worry about.
    To fb3
What connection speed do you get at the moment?
There are some useful help pages here, for BT Broadband customers only, on my personal website.

  • Does Weblogic Portal Server provides caching services and multilingual support

I wanted to know whether Weblogic Portal Server 8.1 has got the facility for caching
    services and multilingual support?

is this JSF-portlet.jar bridge file used to create .portlet file from the JSF file so that the portlet file may be added in the portal?
And if you were able to solve the issue by removing the bridge jar file itself, how does that help? if that is the one that would help in creating portlets.
If anyone have been able to create a .portlet file from JSF and deploy in Weblogic 8.1, let me know.
    Thanks,

Then either contact or change your web hosting company - this is an iWeb forum and not many people here know about coding, so you won't get any help.
Also Word 2000 - what does this have to do with iWeb again?  Word 2000 is a PC programme anyway and has nothing to do with Macs - so again, wrong forum and you won't get any help with a PC in a Mac forum.

  • Service Pack Vs Support Pack

    Hi All,
Is there a difference between Service Pack and Support Pack ?
    Thanks,
    Prashanth

    Hi,
    I think. This are synonyms.
    Microsoft takes the name ServicePack.
In SAP there are same objects to changes the system:
note: to correct one program. to correct one mistake.
support package: change a list programs.
support package stack: group of patches for all software components. SAP tests this combination of corrections intensive.

There is no way to create web services in NetBeans 4.1 with Tiger (jdk 1.5).
Because when you try to create a web service in NB4.1, you will straight away get an message in the New Web Service window:
JSR-109 web services are only supported in j2ee 1.4 applications.

JSR-109 web services are only supported in j2ee 1.4
    applications.Do you have J2EE 1.4 SDK installed?

  • Check online for broadband service problems in you...

    Hi Everyone
If you have a broadband issue it's possible that there could be a temporary problem at your local exchange that is affecting every broadband connection in your area.
You can check this on our broadband service status page:
Check online for broadband service problems in your area
The service status page can be used to check if the internet and telephone network is OK in your area.  It provides a list of known issues and planned engineering works and is updated regularly.
If a problem affecting your area has only recently been resolved, you may still need to restart your modem or router to restore your broadband service.
    Thx

    Hi,
According to your description, I understand that the issue happens to several PCs with Outlook 2010.
I noticed that you have done several troubleshooting about the Outlook crash issue. I suggest we can install Outlook 2013 in a new computer and check whether the issue happens in Outlook 2013.
If the issue doesn’t happen in Outlook 2013, please update your Outlook 2010 to the latest patches and service packs and check whether the issue persists.

  • Broadband service = Absolutely appalling!

    Hello,
We have been using your broadband service for about 3 years now. For the first 2 years everything was very fast and reliable. For the past year the connection has been getting worse and worse. It's now got to the point where the connection will disconnect constantly even though the lights are showing on the HomeHub.
Firstly I understand what overselling is and I understand that nothing is unlimited. I understand that your broadband customers will have grown considerably over the last year. Now what I do have a problem with is you limiting the connection to the point where it is now impossible to stay connected for 10 minutes without disconnecting. Sometimes I have to wait 15 minutes for the connection to resume after it disconnects.
Quite frankly I think the word "unlimited" should not be used at all especially since you cannot provide a connection that even fits in to the satisfactory category.
    Jack

Feel really bad for you mate on this, have had problems with my own broadband in the past turned out to be my equipment but looks like you have ruled out that option.
Maybe a BT person will offer to help on this. Best of luck
ps love how you have written a complaint onto the public forum and included a link advertisiing your business

  • BO XI R2 Service Pak 2 support

What versions of Apache/Tomcat/Openssl does BO XI R2 Service pak 2 support?

    Hi Dean,
Below Tomcat version supported with BO XIR2 SP2.
    Application server:Tomcat 5.0.27
    JDK:
    1]  JDK 1.4.2_13+
Note: Due to security vulnerabilities identified by the SANS Institute in JDK/JRE versions 1.4.2_12 and lower, BusinessObjects Enterprise XI Release 2 SP2 will ship with 1.4.2_13. It is recommended that any JVM be updated to a minimum of 1.4.2_13.
    2] JDK 1.5.0_xx
    Hope this helps...

  • Broadband service down since 11/11/2013

My broadband service has been down since the 11/11/2013, prior to this date I was able to receive 1.4meg and there after approx 190-256 kb. I have spent countless hours on the phone to India, had numerous appointments for engineers to visit, some turned up, some did'nt. I've had every excuse in the book rolled out to me, my case is being dealt with by a process that is either obliged to or chooses to accept any old bit of tosh sprouted by open reach (least thats what I am lead to believe). Has anyone any constructive suggestions as to what my next move could be.

  • Difference between service pack and support pack

    Hi,
what is the exact difference between service pack and support pack. Are they same?
The version details presnt in integration builder -> help-> inforamtion  of my XI server are as follows :
    Service pack: 09
    Release: 645_VAL_REL
does it mean that the both support package and service package for my XI server are 09?
    thanks in adavance
    regards

    1. A service pack (in short SP) is a collection of updates, fixes and/or enhancements to a software program delivered in the form of a single installable package. Service packs are usually numbered, and thus shortly referred to as SP1, SP2, etc. It is notable that they may bring, besides bug fixes, entirely new features.

For the ABAP parts of usage type PI, this is the implementation of support packages. For the Java parts, the deployment with the Java Support Package Manager (JSPM) is used.
You can find currently available support packages on SAP Service Marketplace at service.sap.com/sp-stacks.
A description of how to apply support packages is available in SAP Note 879289.
