Re: Portal roles are Inconsistent

Recently my systems are upgraded from SP 13 to SP 16. Up to now EPA is working fine with SP13. But now I imported same EPA file in SP 16 system. In some machines some roles are working but same roles are not working in another SP 16 level systems. My Portal is not a FPN.

Hi Michael,
My problem is solved by SAP support team. Below is the reasons and solution
When assigning a portal role to a user, permissions to the user on the
role are automatically created. These automatic permissions are called
Inner ACLs.
Sometimes, when transporting content between portals, the Inner ACLs arenu2019t created. This is why you could not see the role for the user.
After you logon to the portal with a super administrator user, change
the relative URL to : http://<server>:<port>/irj/servlet/prt
/portal/prtroot/com.sap.portal.admin.acleditor.listPermissions (you can
also do this through the URL http://<server>:<(>
<<)>port>/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/PortalAnywhere.Go and search
for "listpermissions"). After few minutes you should see a page that has the permission information of the portal. Scroll down all the way, if
you see a button on the bottom, click on it.
Thank you Michael and Others

    Balu,
Well this issue has been discussed many a times in forums. You would have to point your data source to ABAP system.
Check this thread in [here|J2EE Failed to start  , after changing UME datasource;.

  • Modify the default "No portal roles are assigned..." message iView

    Hi,
When a user with no roles assigned is trying to access the EP6 SP9 portal, he/she is facing a warning message:
"No portal roles are assigned for this user.If this problem persists, contact your system administrator."
accompanied by a 'log off' link.
Is it somehow possible to change the look and feel and/or behaviour of this message?
For instance, we would like the message appearance to be more 'friendly' and with a link where they can find further assistance, etc.
    With best regards,
    Robin

The window for logoff is part of the masterhead. So i think you can modify the masterhead pasr file for that.
    Its location is at...
    usr/sap/<instance>/JC00/J2EE/cluster/server0/apps/sap.com/irj/servlet_jsp/root/web-inf/deployment/pcd.
In this folder you can find the com.sap.portal.masterhead.par.bak
this file can be imported to your developer studio and can be editted and uploaded.
    hope this helps

    Hi,
Please make sure it has super admin role and objects are added to role and define entry points and portal permissions are defined which enables the delegation of administrative tasks and content in the portal environment.
    Hope it helps.

  • Portal Roles are not visible

    Hi,
We have upgraged Portal (Nw 2004s) SP17 to SP18 ,But after upgradation portal roles are not visible for users and Portal adminstors (J2EE_ADMIN ) also.
Standard roles like System ,user and Content Admin roles also not visible. It shows only blank screen after login to portal.
It is critial issue .Please suggest how to solve this issue.
    Thanks
    Srikanth M

Make sure there are no errors in the browser in the bottom left hand corner. Also, are you using a fully wualified name to access the portal? When you were on SP17 were you using standard roles or did you make your own copy of the roles and assign your users to the copied roles?
If you navigate to the portal content studio directly, can you see the role contents?
After launching /useradmin and authenticating, paste http://host:50000/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtmode/preview/prtroot/pcd!3aportal_content!2fadministrator!2fcontent_admin!2fcontent_admin_role!2fcom.sap.portal.content_admin_ws!2fcom.sap.portal.portal_content?sap-config-mode=true into your browser and you are in the content studio.

  • How many portal roles are needed for multi-country ESS?

we are implementing ESS for multiple countries.
has anybody tried to use one portal role for all countries?
the new ESS business package comes with one ESS portal role that has content for all countries. I was wondering if we can use this role as-is (after making a copy of course) to present content for all countries, instead of creating one portal role for each country.

    in Employee Self-Service > General Settings > Homepage for Self-Services > Resources> Define Resources
did you have to enter the PCD path to the country-specific iView?
In that path you associate any resource to a Portal Page. Just change the PCD Path for custom Pages only.
Only the services are "country-specific" (because they have assigned a MOLGA). Follow the path from my previous answer to add any country-specific app.
the standard installation does not have the PCD path populated, it has the name WebDynpro application component instead
This is common issue. Depending on how the installation/upgrade was performed, the resources table is populated or not. But if is not populated, the "URLof PCD Page" property is taken from client 000. In my last implementation, i expected this issue, but i not populate manually this property and everything works fine.
    Kind regards

  • SRM Portal roles are not getting accessible

    Hello SDN contributors,
I have a strange burning issue. Please help me out.
    Issue:
When I assign any SRM Portal roles to users, roles are not getting accessible until I assign a custom ESS(HCM) role in the backend ECC system which is mapped with a portal ESS role.
After doing this only from Portal front-end perspective ,SRM users are getting access on  SRM roles.
But I do not able to find out the possible reason behind this.
Please suggest me to get out of this issue.
    Regards,
    Sriram

    Hello Bala,
First of all thank you for your response.
Yes , I'm sure that the  back-end role is mapped to only ess role not to SRM roles.
Unable to find out the origin for this issue. Please throw some valuable suggestions on this.
    Regards,
    Sri ram.

  • Mapping SRM Portal roles with SRM backend roles

Using ABAP as UME when we create a user in SRM backend and assign backend roles, then corresponding portal roles should also get assigned to the
user so that portal roles are not to be assigned separately by portal admin.
Currently for the requirement I followed the following steps:
    1. To SAPJSF user in SRM backend assigned roles SAP_BC_JSF_COMMUNICATIONand SAP_BC_JSF_COMMUNICATION_RO.
    2. Created a RFC SPML of type 'G'.
    3. Activated UME-SPML connection in SPRO.
    4. Then in PFCG for the role personalization assigned PCD path of portalrole.
But I am not able to achieve the requirement through the aforesaid steps.
    Please Guide.
    Regards,
    Gagandeep.

If you are using ABAP persistency for UME your ABAP roles should appear in the UME as groups. Just assign the portal roles you need to your ABAP roles/groups. Thats it,
    cheers

  • ABAP roles v/s Portal Roles

    Hi All,
Currently I was going through  EP security docs where I came across this
"An important difference between ABAP roles and Portal roles is that in the portal,no authorizations are defined for the backend application itself. This must still be
done within the backend applications (for example, mySAP ERP)."
Can somebody plz explain me this..
Would also like to know more difference  between ECC and EP security,
    Thanks,
    Ajit

    Hi Ajit,
I have been looking into this for some time as well, but am still not sure of some things myself nor which scenarios fit best to which security aspects.
My understanding is that it depends on how the portal is connecting to the backend.
If the portal user is the backend user, then the portal role is just a permission to click on things in the portal. The portal roles are mapped to the backend roles in the ABAP system (so you can, and need to, define what that portal role can infact do when the portal user "clicks" in the backend, using the backend roles of the same backend user context).
If the portal user is not the backend user (i.e. it is a system service for generic access to the backend), then you should restrict the backend access to the bare minimum of that service and control the security in the portal application (the calling application) as the backend user context is not the same.
So it is a "design" answer as well...
There are a few good posts about this if you use the search. If you find a good one, then please link it here so that others who use the search and follow up on their questions can use it as well.
At the top of the forum, there is a sticky thread on FAQs and other usefull discussions. Sadly, portal security does not have any links yet, so if you find a good one then let me know.
    Cheers,
    Julius

  • No Portal Roles assigned issue

    Hi Experts ,
We had recently integrated CRM with portal , but some users inspite of having the portal roles assigned to their id were getting an Access Denied page (we had customized the "no portal roles assigned " error page ) . Knowing the dependency of portal on IE and browser settings , this issue is sometimes resolved by clearing cache , cookies , and changing a few browser settings etc on IE 6.0 . If this doesn't work then upgrading to IE 7.0 definetly helps . Since this is just a workaround , I would like to know if anyone has experienced such a thing before and has a solution for this . Your inputs will be highly appreciated .
    Regards
    Mayank

    Hi Mayank,
This is an error which happens when there is No roles assigned to the user. I am not sure how your systems are designed for User Management. Say for example in some cases LDAP is used to maintain Group to User Relationships and Portal Roles are connected to Groups therfore all users in the group is assigned to the Role. In some cases UME is used.
Having said that you can disable the cache for the browser. You have to compromise with the performance however, this will ensure that everytime the user logs in, the request will always go to the server.

  • No portal roles????

    Hi,all experts:
I create a new user by Administrator in EP6.0, and try to log on as the user, but I get some error messages as follow:
No portal roles are assigned for this user.If this problem persists, contact your system administrator.
Can anyone tell me how to solve this problem???
    Thanks in advance
    Tony

    Hi Tony,
please have a look at the documentation, you find below help.sap.com - Navigate to NetWeaver 04 - Portal - Content Administration.
There you find everything about content maintenance including creation of roles, iViews, pages, folders, etc.
Another good information source regarding role concepts and maintenance is the SMP alias /ep60howtoguides.
Several guides like "Role Concepts in EP 5.0 and 6.0" help you to gain a quick overview about Roles in SAP EP.

  • EP6 : Store portal roles in AD or LDAP ?

    Hi all ,
in EP5 you could store portal roles in an external AD ,using a AD schema extension . I don't see any docs about this in EP6 ...is it possible in EP6 ?
If not is it possible to store that info in a LDAP directory ?
    Regards
    Daniel

    Hi Daniel,
The portal roles are stored in the portal database starting with EP6.  This provides companies greater flexibility--as most customers did not want to extend their corporate LDAP schemas so they ended up creating a new directory server specifically for EP5.  With EP6 they can perform authentication directly against their corporate data store without the extra overhead and mgmt on the directory server.
If I were you, I would create the roles in the portal and then assign Active Directory groups to these roles.  You then get the best of both worlds;).  Users are assigned to groups in the AD, but roles are created in the portal.
    Hope this helps.

    HI,there.
I found out a inconsistent data inside the Role.
    I checked :
Content Administration -> Portal Content -> Role -Objects
and opened a property editor.(property category "permissions (Java-Based").
There are also settings about Permissions(Actions) as Useradmin, and a discrepancy in the system occurs between this setting and Useradmin.
I changed this setting and fixed the error .
    Thank you for your help:)
    Best regards.
