Re: Premiere Pro CS6 (6.0.5) HDV Capture Crash Bug

Application Manager says I have the latest updates of everything as of today (3/18/14)... and it is still crashing. Using iMovie capture as a workaround. Pretty lame.

  • Using Premiere Pro CS6, currently not able to capture video.

Using Premiere Pro CS6 along with Canopus ADVC100 as my capture device through a firewire port, but in the capture window, it only shows black. I've tried all different settings. I've always been able to capture in the past. I had the AOL Tech Gurus check my computer and all ports and everything is working properly. I've even switched out the firewire cable, as well as used a different ADVC100 and different firewire ports, though it still is not working. I did see video for a few seconds without sound, but it went away. When I do power up the ADVC, it immediately starts up Premiere Pro CS6, so my computer is recognizing the ADVC100. I'm wondering if something within my computer is conflicting with the capture.

Thanks cvid01 for jumping in -
Where would I see the ADVC100 as the Capture Device aside from the drop down window in Device Control where I can choose it to be the Device Control?
It's always worked with the Device Control Device showing "None". And the ADVC100 has always worked in the past with Premiere Pro CS6 for all my Captures.
Also, my Premiere Pro CS6 starts up once I power up the ADVC100. Though I have even closed the Premiere Pro CS6 after it opened up, and restarted the program.
Just wondering if the program itself has some sort of bug now in the capture window? Is there a Premiere Pro CS6 fix that will solve the issue?
Here is what my capture window shows:

  • Premiere Pro cs6.02 mac 10.7.5 crashing every 2 min.

Hi group had a horrible summer where Premiere pro 6.0-6.01 crashed all the time meaning every 1-2 min. on both of my machines which are a 2012 macbook pro and imac, both have max ram and SSD drives. As most of you experienced after 10.7.5 and 6.02 came out things have gone pretty smoothly but yesterday, the crashing came back. I tried two reinstalls of Premiere Pro 6.0 and 6.02 upgrade along with my Boris and Magic Bullet suites but I am now experiencing crashes about every 1-3 min. trying to  to reduce audio noise and minor scrubbing. My project is only 5 min. long I have magic bullet looks on the video and simple noise reduction on the audio tracks, not understanding what is happening.
To back up, I had to do the reinstalls because PP refused to startup crashed on every restart including after restarting the computer and running disk utility from another computer. This is maddening and so disappointing, the whole CS6 upgrade nightmare has really made me lose a little faith in Adobe. In my mind if Adobe didn't spend so much time trying to rent their software via cloud and made cs6 work they would have converted so many former FCP users like myself.
Anyway, wondering if anyone has any ideas on what to do, I've tried dumping the prefs. cleaning cache, logs etc. I have over 300gb of space on a 2nd SSD drive via esata via thunderbolt as my scratch disk. In the past I did entire reinstalls from scratch on the OS but I'm sick of wasting 3-5 hours doing that. I'm seriously thinking about going to AVID if this crashing can't be resolved.......
So please dear reader help a poor soul like myself fix this issue....

Hi I have not upgraded to 10.8 because I have a matrox mini max and they didn't have an upgrade that would work so I didn't do it.
I do have the full magic bullet suite and Boris installed, my problem is I had been editing this project for a month without any issues, then last Thurs. night boom crash then every 10 min. then by the next day it was every min. I hadn't upgraded anything in over a month, and the whole system was stable for the last 2 months after 10.7.5 and 6.02 not perfect but not every min.
I guess I can remove the plugins but I am using some of both on this and yes I did use the audio denoiser maybe that's it? The boom operator had very little exp. and the audio system was from the dp who is in my class but recorded everything really low... top notch gear but low and I have about 9 layers of audio to get the levels up, which is why I had to use the audio denoiser.
So I am not sure if i should upgrade to 10.8 or remove the audio denoiser...or loose all my magic bullet and boris effects...I can't win.... You guys are cool to answer though...
BTW what is ML? oooh duh Mountain lion...

Oh really!? I thought they were alright, my computer handeled CS5 well. I have the creative suite installed but only use premiere, photoshop and after effects. Would only reinstalling the programes I use help?

  • Premiere Pro cs6 keeps crashing when im editing or rendering a video

When I am on Adobe Premiere Pro cs6 every 10-20 mins it crashes when im editing a video, it crashes more often when im rendering it (export media, ctrl+M). I dont mind when it crashes while im editing because i save the file regularly but when im rendering its a problem, it probably because the file is too big as i use dxtory to record skyrim but this is an expensive product so it should be able to render. I encode the file once ive chosen the format and stuff for the video and it says finish rendering in 50 mins or so and when it gets to like 4% rendering it says not responding. It then troubleshoots but then says 'close program'. this is very frustrating, please can someone help me. I've looked through the forums but i dont uinderstand many of the solutions as im not that good at computers

  • Premiere Pro CS6 Constantly Crashing

I am having the worst time using Premiere Pro CS6.  The program is constantly crashing, saying it has encountered a serious error and has to close.  This is happening during the most basic operations like scrubbing the timeline or pressing play.  I am using footage strait from my Canon 7D (h.264) with no effects or filters.  I have all the latest updates to the software and my computer.  No other programs are open during these errors.  I'm using a 2011 MacBook Pro i7 8GB RAM with AMD Radeon HD 6750M 1024 MB and OSX 10.7.4.
I wanted this to be an alternative to FCP 7, but so far it is not working out.
    Any ideas?

Happening to me too. Constant "serious error" crashes, usually when I'm doing hardly anything at all. One project was working with just a couple images and it was particuarly awful. Like you, H264 footage are a common thread.
    I'm a Mac Pro 3,1 2x2.8GHz Quad-Core, 10.7.3 (will try updating), 8GB RAM, GTX285, 6.0.1 and CUDA 4.2.7. GPU Driver Version says 7.18.11 270.05.20f02.
As it stands I can't get anything done. My experience w/ CS6 so far has been to finish one project (2 tracks of DV, one of H264) that was originally started in CS5, and I don't really remember having any problems. Software worked much better than CS5 actually. Tried another one from scratch, same setup, but I encountered the H264 media pending bug that's been reported elsewhere and had to give up, go back to CS5. Project I mentioned above, I could barely do anything w/o the program crashing. This fourth project, another 2 DV/1 H264, I haven't encountered any problems playing back the footage yet, but this is when the software because very unstable.

  • Premiere Pro CS6 on Mac crashes when attempting to capture HDV

I've seen this topic previously but without an answer and was hoping for an update. I'm using Premiere Pro CS6.0.5 on a MacPro running 10.9.2
The camera is a Sony HDR-FX7. When in the capture window, the camera is recognized. I can rewind and fast forward but when i push play it immediately crashes and gives the "serious error" notice.  The camera settings are set to HDV in the VCR setting and PremierePro is set to HDV capture format as well.

  • Can't Preview HDV Capture In Premiere Pro CS6

I can't preview my HDV footage in Premiere Pro CS6.
I know I'm not supposed to be able to see anything in the Capture Window when I'm actually capturing HDV, but it says I should be able to see my footage when I am just previewing in the Capture Window.

    Thanks!

    Thanks Ann!
    I just figured it out.
I'm using 2 monitors in extended mode.
One is a VGA flat panel and the other is a DVI flat panel.
I had the Capture Window open on my VGA monitor.
When I moved the Capture Window to my DVI monitor, I got a preview picture.
It's funny, when I move the Capture Window from the DVI to the VGA while playing, playing stops.
And when I move it bak to the DVI, it continues to play.
Maybe because the VGA isn't digital?
Both monitos are hooked up to my GTX 470 GPU, so it seems wierd.
Any feedback on this would be welcomed.
    Thanks again!

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 crashing when importing HDV Video

For some reason I keep getting crashes when importing HDV (720p60) video into the timeline of Adobe Premiere Pro CS6.  This has happened on two different machines, with similar specs.
Per the suggested guidelines, here are the specifics:
    Version of Premiere Pro: CS6, Version 6.0.5 (001 (MC:264587))
    All updates have been installed.
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.8.5.
Source footage: HDV 720p60 video in .MOV container.
Full text of error message: "Sorry, a serious error has occured that requires Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down.  We will attempt to save your current project."
Link to full crash report: http://goo.gl/Gn8Bzn
Crash occurs when trying to import HDV .MOV file.
This is a consistent problem when importing .MOV files of this type.
Complete Adobe Creative Suite is installed.  Also using Episode Pro encoding software from Telestream to prepare HDV video.  No other external video hardware or codecs installed.
Yes, I am using the Mecury Playback Engine GPU acceleration.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me figure this one out.

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 HDV Capture error

Since the latest update, i'm not able anymore to capture HDV with firewire link from my Canon XHA1.
    MAC OSX Intel 10.7.5
When it should start capturing I get an error and Premiere CS6 goes on 'freeze'.
In CS5.5 (wich I kept installed), I don't have this error! But in CS5.5 there was no live view available.. what can be causing this error?
    Help me please!!!

A cautionary tale:- I too fell foul of the Premiere Pro CS 6.0.5 update bug and kept losing my Firewire Capture. So I followed the advice here and uninstalled Premiere Pro and reinstalled it from the Production Premium disc and then updated to version 6.0.2.
However, my Mac Pro has now lost all system audio - no Quicktime (”an unknown error -101”), no CD/DVD sound and the iTunes progress bar does nothing when I press play. This bug is detailed by others in Apple Discussion page https://discussions.apple.com/message/18657051#18657051. Thankfully I am still able to hear sound in Premiere through my line out so I can still edit.
I’m not sure if this bug was fixed as the last submission to the Apple discussion was dated 20 June 2012 and the ‘Branched to a New Discussion’ link at the top of the page goes to a removed page.
If an update to Premiere Pro could fix this bug (it only appears to happen when Premiere CS6 is installed) as well the loss of Capture, I would be happy.

  • Premiere Pro CS6 Error Message Codec Missing or unavailable?

I know there is already a thread about this... but I couldn't figure out how to add to that thread. I have been googling for like 2 hours and get this figured out! Sorry if this is a silly question, I am very new!
A videographer sent my company a hard drive with video footage he took from our event. I need to split these clips up and import them to Premiere Pro.
    Here is all my info:
Premiere Pro 6.0.2 just updated about an hour ago-
    Mac OS X 10.7.5
I am trying to import and edit footage a video-ographer gave my company from an event. He sent it to us on an external hard drive. I am not sure what kind of camera he used.
I have downloaded RedCode or whatever. Updated Premiere Pro.
The file type is .mov. It plays fine in Quick Time 10, but only the sound plays in Quick Time Pro 7.
The Codecs for this file are MPEG-2 AND LINEAR PCM,  TIMECODE
I also need to split these clips into smaller clips before importing into Premiere Pro, the clips are all between 8-11GB, if you want to help me with that too.

I had the same issue after I re-installed both Mountain Lion and Adobe products. MOV (XDCAM) media was not reading on Premiere Pro CS6. "Codec Missing or Unavailable" kept prompting. Following ComputerNovice25 advice did not do the trick for this problem. But, I was able to fix issue by simply updating my OS. A ProApps Quicktime Codecs 1.0 was included in the update, which added the following video codecs for Quicktime-based applications:
    Apple Intermediate Codec
    Apple ProRes
    AVC-Intra
    DVCPRO HD
    HDV
    XDCAM HD / EX / HD422
    MPEG IMX
    Uncompressed 4:2:2
This update is highly recommended for all users running any MacOSX and any type of NLE.
    Hope this helps.

  • Premiere Pro CS6 H264 Blu-ray encoder does not do MBAFF interlace

I have been testing the Premiere Pro CS6 H264 Blu-ray encoder with some HDV video 1440x1080i25 top field first and I have found that it always encodes as PAFF even when the MBAFF box is ticked. I analysed the stream with h264_parse and found that the mb_adaptive_frame_field_flag is set to 0 and that the pic_struct flag alternates between 1 and 2. These indicate that the encoder is using PAFF when the MBAFF flag is ticked.
The CS5 encoder does work as it sets the mb_adaptive_frame_field to 1 and the pic_struct to 3 which is correct for top field first.
There is another problem in that Premier pro does not recognise field order of correctly encoded MBAFF video. It reports tff video as progresive and bff as top top field first.
MBAFF generaly gives higher quality pictures.
    Regards Trevor

For obvious reasons I do not like to be constanly connected to the internet with my Video Edting PC.
There are no 'obvious' reasons not to stay connected (if you know what you're doing), and in fact very good reasons to do so (more so if you're a Creative Cloud subscriber).
Having said that, there is a way to get the PDF to come up when you hit F1, instead of the online help.  I just don't recall where that setting is.

  • Premiere Pro CS6 Render and Export Screen Glitch and Freeze

I use Premiere Pro CS6 on a 2012 Macbook Retina display - 16GB RAM, 751GB Flash Storage, NVIDIA GeForce 650m Graphics Card, 2 External 4TB hardrives for scratch disks, Thunderbolt connection. When I try to render and export videos I often get a graphical glitch like in the pic shown below and my computer freezes. It happens very often, especially when there are a lot of effects in the videos - I use the GenArts Sapphire plugin often.
This has been going on basically since I bought my Macbook 2 years ago, but it is starting to become more and more common -  considering this was the most expensive Macbook Pro you could buy I am very annoyed with this - even on some videos where I have applied no plugin effects or any color correction it happens, especially when trying to export videos.
Any help on this issue would be appreciated.

I am having precisely the same problem as bricklaneeditor, and have exactly the same setup: MBP early 2011, 16GB RAM, 512 GB SSD,
    30" ACD, Mac OS 10.7.4 , PPro 6.0.1
Indeed, a restart of Premiere Pro always fixes the problem -- for a while.  I've also seen similar behavior in Media Composer 6.0.1 once or twice so am wondering whether it's an issue with this machine/OS, as the playback software architectures are so different on those two NLE's.
I should also mention that the problem is not isolated to any particular file format -- have seen it with timelines containing 7D footage, HDV and ProRes files.
I strongly suspect some sort of problem on either Apple's or Adobe's end with the GPU in this machine, as it is ATI and not Nvidia -- and is, as far as I know, the only non-CUDA GPU, at least on the Mac side, certified to work with the CS6 Mercury Playback Engine.
Also wondering whether an over-the-top or a clean install of Mountain Lion might shake things up enough to make a difference.  (Otherwise I'm in no big hurry to upgrade my OS.)  Is anyone seeing this problem with PPro under 10.8?  Might be worth installing 10.8 over an external HDD clone of the System drive and booting temporarily from the clone just to see if the problem persists in Premiere.
Anyone have any thoughts on these possibilities?
