RE: purpose of Personalization option (check box) while doing transports.

Hi all,
i am creating transport request and we recently upgraded from ECC6.0 to EPH4, after the upgrade we are getting warning messages if we select personalization option, can any one tell me the purpose of personalization option while creating a transport request and what happens if i dont select it.

Nothing is going happen if yuo do not select personilazation.
Personalization is a way to save information that could be common to users, I meant to a user role... E.g. you can create SAP queries and manage authorizations by user groups. Now this information can be stored in the personalization tab of the role. (I supposed that it is a way for SAP to address his ambiguity of its concept of user group and roles: is "usergroup" a grouping of people sharing the same access or is it the role who is the grouping of people sharing the same access?)

What is the purpose of 'I/O' check box in 'Switching on/off Navigation Attr.' screen in InfoCube definition? (Edit InfoCube: Characteristics)
There are three columns in the screen. Navigation Attribute, Long description and I/O (check box.) Navigation Attribute & Long description are automatically populated by the system based on which attribute I selected as Navigational in respective InfoObject definitions.
Do I need to check the 'I/O' check box inorder to use these navigational attributes in the Query (to use all the features of Nivigational attr. like drill down & display like a char. etc.) ?

Hi lakshmi,
You are right, that check box will enable you to use a nav attr in the query. If you do not select it here, then even though this char has a nav attr, you will not be able to see or use it in the query designer.

Enabling User Specific check box while saving layout in VA05

While saving layout in VA05 user specific check box is in disabled mode , is there any possibility to enable the check so that i can create user wise layouts in VA05.

Goto SU3, enter user name and press enter
goto parameters tab, enter parameter ID SD_VARIANT_MAINTAIN and parameter value 'A' and save.
Now check in VA05, you will get save button in active mode.

The Error messages document says to sleep if the scha_control fails.....I need clarity on this of what needs to be done.......

I have checked this pingpong check error in " Error Messages guide"...
They say solution as ...
A properly-implemented resource monitor, upon encountering the failure of a
scha_control call, should sleep for awhile and restart its probes. If the resource remainsunhealthy, the problem that caused the scha_control call to fail (such as pingpong checkdescribed above) will eventually resolve, permitting a later scha_control request to succeed.
Therefore, no user action is required. If the system administrator wishes to permit failovers to be attempted even at the risk of ping-pong behavior, the Pingpong_interval property of the resource group should be set to a smaller value.
I have no clarity on where exactly i need to sleep if the scha_control call fails..

Error while doing transport to Quality from Solman

Dears,
I am using Solman 7.0 SP15.
I have recently configured Charm,Now to test it funcationality I created one transport and as per process released it by solman.
Now I am trying to import this request by Solman into QAS but it is giving error:
TMS communication error with TMSSUP#QAZ.DOMAIN_DEV
Message no. XT153
Diagnosis
There was an error during communication with the RFC destination
TMSSUP#QAS.DOMAIN_DEV
System Response
The exact error message of the system is:
Name or password is incorrect (repeat logon)
Procedure
The function terminates.
Procedure for System Administration
Check your TMS configuration with the transaction STMS.
I checked all RFCs are working fine with authorization test,RFC TMSSUP#QAZ.DOMAIN_DEV is also working fine but its created with clicked logon screen option that i read is OK.
We have one RFC destination to 000 Client of our domain controller DEV.
Please suggest do i nead to create RFC destnations to QAS and PRD also to import requests or what is the root cause of this issue.

Looks like the user who performs action "import to qas" does not exist in QAZ (000).

Query Problem while doing Transportation

Hi,
Last Month in the <b>release I</b> i created 17 Reports and there are assigned to RRI also.
After that i Transported both the reports and RRI to QA. It is success .
Later on there are some modifications in the reports and i modified them and i again Transported both the reports and RRi and it was success.
This month in the <b>release II</b> i again modified the same 17 reports and i transported the reports to QA. The problem is 13 reports had changed in the QA but the remaining 4 reports are shown as 8 reports(4 x 2) with same technical names . I did not transport the RRI this time.
So i found a single report as 2 reports with same technical name. this means that it has not overwritten.
How should i solve this problem.
Can any one give the solution for this.......

Hi,
Check which elements of the query has not been transported, Check the queries in QA and you will find what is missing and also check that the missing Elements of the query are not saved in $TMP folder. Find out exactly which of the missing elements are not transported and transport them alone will do the job.
Also notedown the technical names of the missing elements and you can find which item it is by searching in Metadata Repository first search with the Query Technical name and then include technical name of your Query element.

Error 8 In Update,while doing transport from sandbox to Dev.

I am trying to transport some 100 queries from sandbox to development. I made a 10 queries in a single request and transported it from sandbox to development.First 6 transports went fine.(means 60 queries with out any issues).next 4 transport request ended with the Error 8 in update.

1) Overwrite Originals
2) Overwrite Objects in Unconfirmed Repair

If parameter UGR (country specific) has been set in user profile, the infogroups can be made dependent on that. If UGR has not been set up, system uses reference user group.
When you configure any infogroup, the first column is for user group. You would put value 10 if your profile has been set to UGR 10 and you want the infogroup to be dependent on that. If you do not have profile set to any UGR, system would make use of reference user group, like 00, which would then be used while configuring infogroup.
To maintain user parameters, follow SPRO>Personnel Management>Personnel Administration>Basic Settings>Maintain user parameters. You can then check the values through transaction SU3.

LOVs default format set to Check Box - Error

1. I created a custom attribute and a custom Item type for a particular page group in 10g
2. I created a LOV and used it in the custom attribute type
3. I used the custom attribute type in the custom Item type that I created.
4. While customizing the Item type, I set up the LOVs (about 6 records) default format to Check Box.
5. While adding the custom item type to a page, the custom attribute (which should be displayed as a Check Box) displays as shown below:

Update:
I added 2 custom attributes to a custom item type. Both custom attributes are associated with separate LOV's. When I try to add the item, I get this following error and it's not allowing me to add the Item (custom item type from base URL):
Error:
Select a valid value from the LOV. (WWS-22207)
Couldn't save attribute Version. (WWV-03005)

IF CHECK BOX IS CHECKED

I have a check box and need the next field (the date) to be
filled out if the check box is filled out.
i have four pages, a search page, a results page, a details
(update) page and a update validation page. just not sure where or
what to put in to make it go. stolen bike information is entered on
the details (update) page.
so now where and how do i make the stolen date required if
the check box is selected?....lol. also if the box after that can
be required if the first two are...lol
As of right now they are updating the information if filled
out but if i select the check box it does it without me filling out
the date or report number.

If you're going to make a field be required based on a client
side event (checking a check box), then you have to use javascript.
Since the stolen date field may be omitted if the checkbox is
left empty, you wont want the date field to be required.
Once the user attempts to submit the form, you will need a
function to run to validate if the date field has been entered
corresponding to the field with the checkbox. If the date field has
not been filled out, then dont submit the form and throw an alert..
If a value exists for the date field while the checkbox is checked,
then submit the form.
If you're unfamiliar with js, then you will have to run all
of your validation on the server side, and notify the user of the
errors after they have submitted the form.

Check box item visual attributes

I set an item visual attributes like below

Font weight demibold
Font style Plain
Font spacing Dense
But when executing the form this check box item does not appear clearly, it is not readable, could you suggest me some visual attributes setting to make a check box item more readable?

I think the problem is related to enabled of set_item_property of this item when it is set to property_false, the enabled property_false does not allow the visual attributes setting to display the item more readable, do you have any idea to display the item more readable when enabled is set to property_false?

I'm trying to enable the AET functionality using the option Personalize->Personalize Settings from the header area which is top right side, but there I'm not able to see the check box with option enable configuration mode.
Is any notes is missing? even though there is another option (from navigation bar entry) we can access the AET functionality but the first one is the easiest way to achievet this.
pls adivice what is missing.

Check if you have authorization for authorization object CRMCONFMOD.
