(re)pushing and removing network printers deployed through GP

Hi,
We're deploying our printers through Print Management, "Deploy with Group Policy" per user.
All seems to be working pretty well, but I have a few questions:
1. How can a client remove the printers that were pushed? I've tried a batch script that does the following:
net stop spooler
REG DELETE HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Printers\Connections\,,NTCW9,A0_HP4015_BW /f
net start spooler
Although messy, it works, but I wonder if there's a different approach?
Our AD is built in a way that all users from an office belong to the same OU, so changing the GPO settings is not an option. Allowing users to remove GP pushed printers only occurs very rarely, so no elaborate change should be required.
2. If the above script runs, I notice that the printers are not pushed again to the client. I've tried this with two users. Is there a way to export the pushed printers to something the user can run locally? (script or anything)

First of all this is a strange request since you are asking how to manually undo a group policy setting that you are purposefully deploying to the end user.  But anyway, if I were tasked with this dilemma and I had users that just couldn't bear
to be mapped to a printer they don't want to use I would just change the policy so it doesn't apply to all "Authenticated Users" and use group membership instead.  By the way, is this a technical issue you are trying to solve, or are your end
users complaining cause they have too many printers in their printer selection menu?

  • I can't see my network Printers when i installed Time Capsule

I'm hoping someone can help me with this. I had a wireless network using my NetGear router so i can share internet and two network printers. The network printers are connected to the router using ethernet wires. Now that i installed Time Capsule i can't get the Network Printer to print.

I did what you said, made sure that both network printers where turned on connected to TC and ready to print, then i opened my system Preference, Print & Fax, i removed my two printers that where there before and working, then hit the plus sign, add printer, here's what's different, my MacBook Pro, under AppleTalk and one of my printers can up and it now works but the other didn't. So on my iMac i tried the same thing but no printer showed up under AppleTalk, i did find the two printers under "Default" and Bonjour was under "kind" i said install to both and it did. I just tried printing to both printers and now i have two bouncing printer icons on my doc with a massage " Attempting to connect to host 192.168.1.10" for one of the printers and the second "Attempting to connect to host XRX92CABD.local." i'm starting to think that i didn't set up the TC correctly or i have some option in TC setup wrong.

  • Workgroup network printers and sales persons needing access to them

I have a site with multiple sales people that come and go like the wind (about 50). We have a small office workgroup in which we have 4 network printers on
it plus the wireless network. All of their work is done on the internet through their various Windows and Mac based laptops.
The problem is, is that each time we retire a printer and put in a new one, we need to run around to each laptop and load drivers. Scheduling this is a nightmare
and sometimes takes weeks to get everyone done.
There must be an easier way to do this.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi,
There are two basic ways to make a printer available to the computers on your small network:
Attach it directly to one computer and share it with all the others on a network.
Connect the printer as a stand-alone device on the network itself.
We could follow the suggestions by rj01, install the printer on one special workstation and then share it out, or we could enable homegroup in Windows. When a network is set up as a homegroup, printers and certain files are automatically shared. To
learn more about what homegroups do and how to use them, see
    HomeGroup: recommended links.
For more information about install a printer on a small network, we may check the similar article below:
Install a printer on a home network
Or we may consider to deploy printers through group policy:

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page).
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
Here's a screenshot showing the particular links on the page that you should be clicking:
After clicking one of the circled links, you should be taken to another page, and after a few seconds you should see a download dialog appear for the msicuu2.exe file. Here's a screenshot of what it looks like for me in Firefox:
Choose to Save the file. If the dialog box does not appear for you, click the link on the page that says "CLICK HERE IF IT DOES NOT". Here's a screenshot of the page with the relevant link circled:
When the dialog appears, choose to save the file.
    (2) Go to the Downloads area for your Web browser. Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • How do I lope through array, delete clip and remove from array

I have a function that creates an instance of a movieClip and
    adds it to an array.
In my gameloop I loop through the array and change some
values. Now I want a cleanup function that loops through the array,
and if the y value exceeds a certain value, I want to delete the
clip instance and remove the record in the Array.
Could someone please help me with the syntax for that? I will
    lay the code out below.
    Thankyou

I still haven't gotten an answer on this one, and my client
is starting to push me to fix the bug.
I have created a number of instances of a movie clip, and I
have also pushed references to each clip into an array.
Then I loop through the array and do things.
At some point I want to loop through the array and delete the
    original clips (removeChild).
I don't know the syntax for that.
    for (var n:int = 0; n<myClipArray.length; n++){
    removeChild (myClipArray[n])
// I WANT THE LINE ABOVE TO DELETE THE MOVIE CLIP
I'd like to think there is some way to do that.

  • Network printers take long time to show in control panel - devices and printers

    G'day,
an annoying effect both on Win 8.1 and Win Server 2012 R2: after installing/connecting a network printer for a user, it takes about 10 minutes (sic!) till printer is shown in devices and printers...
Printer is shown and can be used immediately after connect in word/notepad, but properties of printers can only be managed via devices and printers. Work around for setting standard printer: open notepad, click
    print and right-click printer.
But we have to choose a special printer profile, which cannot be done else than devices and printers.
Sometimes even previously installed printers do not show for minutes after logon...
    Restarting spooler: no effect
    Changing drivers: no effect
Printers are Konica C554 series and 4700P series with Konica PCL drivers.
Print server for network printers in Win Server 2012 R2 (VM on Hyper-V 2012 R2)
    No other network issues.
    Thanks and regards.
    McButtonn

Open the printer folder the spooler team built. It's hidden but available and will list just the printers not the devices.
If the print shows up immediately, the spooler has the information.  You will be running the shell command to invoke the old UI.
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/8d69181f-3b9f-43c0-ba6d-ba99fe5fc413/printer-visible-in-print-dialog-but-not-visible-in-devices-and-printers-revisited?forum=w7itprohardware
Enumerating into the Devices and printers UI is then the issue.
    thanks

  • Is it possible to create a configuration profile that will install multiple network printers and their associated drivers

Is it possible to create a configuration profile that will install multiple network printers and their associated drivers?
I was not able to find profile manager on my employer's installation of 10.6 Server. Is this only a feature of 10.7/10.8 server?

10.6 server does not have profile manager, profile manager is only available in 10/7 and 10.8 server
for 10.6 server you'll need to use wgm and server admin
printer management with 10.6, I recommend you read the relevant server manuals regarding

  • Upgraded to 10.5.8 and now can't see either of my networked printers

Hello all, I just upgraded my G5 dual 2.5 to 10.5.8. I have two printers that are both connected to separate Airport Extremes. My G5 ethernet port is connected to a linksys WET11 wireless ethernet bridge, which is in turn connected to the wi-fi network of the main airport. Here is my problem. I can surf the web just fine, so clearly my G5 is seeing the Airport. However ever since upgrading to 10.5.8 I can't add either of my networked printers in the printer setup. It just doesn't see any printers. I've reset the printing in the OS (control clicking on the print prefs and resetting followed by reboot) I've rebooted both the printer and the airport separately and I've double checked that the printer is set as a shared printer in the airport admin software. My laptop (an ibook g4) also running 10.5.8, has no problem seeing both networked printers and printing to them. I'm flummoxed as to why my tower suddenly can't. (It could see both with the exact same setup running 10.4.11) Any ideas? Your help is greatly appreciated, since this is very frustrating! thanks,
    -Andrew

Your network setup is a little complicated. Can you explain it a little better and confirm that there's only one DHCP server in it - all devices get IP addresses from one of the Airport Extremes, for example?
It sounds like maybe you have two or more separated subnets.

  • Auto Deploy and VCD Network Isolation - Not Working

    Hello,
I have opened a support case about this issue, but the case is moving a lot slower than I would like to see. I thought I'd post here to see if anyone has ran into anything similar.
We recently switched our 24-host vCloud cluster (more info about this cluster below) over to Auto-Deploy (was using boot from USB). After the switch, we had a few complaints from customers that use isolated networks. It turns out that only 4 of our 24 hosts were working properly with isolated networks. All 24-hosts are using the same auto-deploy image.
When the hosts boot up, the vCloud Director web interface shows the following with green check marks: "Status", "Enabled", "Ready", "Available", and "VCD Network Isolation Capable".
To get my other 20 hosts working, I disabled all 20 hosts in the vCloud interface, unprepared them, and prepared them. After this, network isolation worked for those 20 hosts. When I reboot one of the hosts, the host still looks like it's good in the interface, but network isolation doesn't work until I disable, unprepare, and prepare.
Here is some more information about our environment:
    vCenter build 2001466
    ESXi Host Build 2702864
    VCD Build 5.5.2.2000523
    vShield Build 5.5.3
Here is the Deploy Rule that the hosts are using:
    Name        : UCS-2.2.1-pcloud.5.5.aln
    PatternList : {oemstring=$SPT:ESX_PublicCloud_autod.2.2.x}
    ItemList    : {ESXi-5.5.0-autod-2.2.1.vshield}
I have confirmed that this is indeed the profile being used by looking at the Summary tab for the hosts and seeing the listed Image Profile.
And here is what's in that item:

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Right now, on my test host (that is not working), I have two VMs, one named "Test 1" and the other "Test 2" They only have an isolated network on them (named "Test Isolated Network") that is in my VDC, and pings do not work between them. If I move them to any other host (that have been unprepared and prepared), pings work. I can move both to the same host, or different hosts.
Here is the fence info on this host, I'm not really sure how to interpret this:

I have a Mac OS 10.6.8 server in my classroom that I have networked to student accounts on the iMacs in the room.  How do I create a folder that allows studnts to place their finished assignments in it, but does not allow them to go in and remove anything from that folder?

You want a "Drop Box" style folder. You should be able to achieve this by creating a folder and giving it permissions similar to the "Drop Box" folder in your users Public Folder (i.e. write only permissions.)

  • Want to add and remove GL account in report through report painter

    Hi,
    Thanks in advance,
1.I want to add new GL account in IS01 report i.e. Income Statement. I am trying to add through report painter but could not able to do it.
2.Also i want to delete existing GL account from report through report painter.
Any body pls suggest the steps to add and remove GL account through report painter because this report is under report painter.

the account is probably in account group or set. Look for that one in report painter and then go to the set or account group and remove/add the account.

  • Network printers taking approximately 15 minutes to appear in Devices and Printers

Found an issue with network printers. When they are installed either manually or via Group policy preferences, they don't appear in Devices in Printers for around 15 minutes, sometimes longer. However they can be seen within Applications such as Word,
    Excel etc.
If we reboot the workstation immediately after installing the printer and log back in, the printers are visible.
The issue doesn't occur with local printers.

    Hi,
This problem can be caused by Network proxy problem. So, first of all, please check if you had setting any proxy in your computer.
In addition, If you using any security software, please try to disable them temporarilly for test.
If no use, try to following method for test.
    1. In Control Panel, goto System [WIN+X -> Y]
    2. Click "Advanced system settings"
    3. Click "Hardware" Tab then "Device Installation Settings"
    4. Select "No Let me choose what to do" and "Never install driver software from Windows Update"
(Optional) Uncheck "Automatically get the device app and info provided by your device manufacturer"
