Dear friends
I thing is interesting for any owner of Qosmio to have a look this:

My Qosmio G30 is already death I have got a estimate from official service, to repair my qosmio cost almost 600 pounds. Is a design fault. Look on internet.

Sorry for it. I bought the Qosmio in July 2007. I contacted not seller but direct authorized service of Czech Toshiba in Brno (we have others two in Prague and Hradec Kralove). In Brno they told me "it is normal". I has also trouble with display, it came scratchy from keyboard after a while (before I used the Dell XPS and not trouble as this at all, only there replaced for the start fens, twice graphic card, chipset, twice motherboard, once grr my English, the box which is on power line :) and they decided that this piece have some troubles so gave me money back. I bought this Qosmio because I read some review where it was mentioned as great machine. Hm, but it surprised me that they told me that only with Vista it can be sell. I tell you this time Vista just started and some blinking screen surprised them. At last they told "it is normal" again. They told me to the strips over my jobs and collapsing program (Photoshop) that it was not sell with this notebook so not warranty with this. When I asked them what about a game program which will not run on this notebook if it is normal, they told yes, not warranty. When I asked them where is on NVidia driver for Vista that it is strange that still not there, they told me use the new Toshiba driver. I told them I used and it is not working very well. At last they told that in original configuration (it means with the original old driver) it was working very well. I told yes, till this moment when it was totaly empty and you have been surfing on the web or doing nothing. Also programms as Windows Media Center was not working at all.. they told upgrade will be soon... At winter 2008 came first time driver from NVidia on the web for Vista. It select it automaticaly, if it overwrite my original drive GeForce Go 7600 to 7650 it was working much better that the Toshiba one. But still collapsing windows after a while, windows which has inside black or window from program which was open under it or only desktop. It got overheat always. Everything with my jobs last to long. I was seating and watching processing, windows over windows, strips over it.
The last summer they did diagnostic for it and found nothing wrong. It was August 2008. I contacted also one of high managers of Czech Toshiba. He wrote me that I have to change service station. But I was 3 days before half year trip overseas. In September came this issue from Toshiba about replacement and troubles with cards.
See links where the trouble is. The graphic card has troubles in all computers everywhere, not only in Qosmio. I think Toshiba did also mistake with Vista on this notebook. I am sure with XP it should work much better

The two mens in Brno CHG Toshiba (service) I know personaly. Also the manager has private contact to me. Nobody wrote: Hana come back!
I pay fot this notebook over 80.000 CZK. In this time it was approx. over 3.000 Euro. I am working with photographs and truly this slow machine was for over 2 years big break for me!
I like to be fair and never will wrote what is not true. To display: serie G40 have much stronger frame. Anyone can tell me why? They argue that I am puting something heavy on it. Maximum my glases which I am using not very offen. If you take sides of this notebook, or if you put something under one of stands, it is flexible. They told me you have to use something between keyboard and display. Well, I should but trouble is that when I bought it was not included, nowhere in manual it is mentioned. My last notebooks were without trouble as this as well (both 17").
I was not only one not happy customer http://www.asklaptopfreak.com/laptop-notebook-help/2007/07/08/toshiba-qosmio-g30-screen-problem/comment-page-1/#comments
to this all. I am using laptop every day and at service they told me that I have replace everything an put everything in original so they will check if it is working. I have not time to do everything, backup and after it installing all back! Truly if somebody used not correct components why customer have to be in so big troubles?
I asked specialist for report. I told him about my troubles and his answer was that he did one return the last year. The display have on sides holes and via this is going in to the display dirt (have all ready this there also). I will claim money return and payment of the expert when I came from my business trip. I hope I will be able to buy another laptop at first so I can continue my job without delay.
Sorry for so long writing and for my not best English. Sorry that I have to write it at all. Be sure I will prefere to be happy customer!
Regards, Hana

  • Camera video preview - Random crashes and green screens

    Hello everyone,
    I am currently working on a Windows Phone 8.1 app and I need to preview video from the phone's back camera. For quite some time I've been struggling with random crashes and green screens. When these green screens appear, all camera apps become affected and
    the device needs to be restarted. Occasionally the phone freezes and only recovers after battery removal. I test the app on my Lumia 620.
    After some web search, I found references to the same problem by many users/developers of different apps. I'm really frustrated as I've tried many possible solutions with no avail.
    Here is part of my code:
    //in App.xaml.cs:
    MediaCaptureInitializationSettings settings;
    public static MediaCapture captureMgr;
    public static bool UnableToInitializeCamera = false;
    public async Task InitializeVideoCapture()
    DeviceInformation backWebcam = await GetCameraDeviceInfoAsync(Windows.Devices.Enumeration.Panel.Back);
    if(captureMgr!=null) captureMgr.Dispose();
    captureMgr = new MediaCapture();
    settings = new MediaCaptureInitializationSettings();
    settings.StreamingCaptureMode = StreamingCaptureMode.Video;
    settings.PhotoCaptureSource = PhotoCaptureSource.VideoPreview;
    settings.AudioDeviceId = "";
    if (backWebcam != null)
    settings.VideoDeviceId = backWebcam.Id;
    else
    var _messageDialog = new MessageDialog("Back panel camera not found");
    _messageDialog.Commands.Add(new UICommand("OK"));
    _messageDialog.ShowAsync();
    try
    await captureMgr.InitializeAsync(settings);
    captureMgr.SetPreviewRotation(VideoRotation.Clockwise90Degrees);

    Any help towards a solution will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you

    I will also advice that you start by following the
    Windows Store app sample.
    Is this a Windows Phone app?
    The crash/green screen only manifests itself when I suspend my app and switch to the default camera app (could be any other camera app perhaps). It happens roughly 1 out of 8 times. That's why I posted the suspension and resuming handlers, which I wrote
    according to the msdn instructions.
    I found
    this page with a sample that demonstrates the MediaCapture API for Windows Phone. Some developers have reported problems similar as mine. Has Microsoft dealt with this issue?
    I've spent quite a few weeks trying to investigate this problem, without actually knowing if it is my code that needs to be debugged. That's why I'm asking if other developers are facing similar problems.
    Thank you
    Edit: It seems that the crash/green screen can appear when suspending/switching to any app (regardless if it uses the camera or not). Also, all works fine when the app is running on the debugger.

  • Qosmio G30 and RAM4 GB?

    Qosmio G30 and RAM4 GB?

    I agree with Andrej the 4GB RAM should be possible but a 32bit OS will recognize only the 3.2GB due to the 32bit OS limitation.

  • Black and green screen after water

    Well I did this huge accident by dropping my iPhone 5 into the toilet, but it was only in there for 2sec. I dried the phone and it was still working, but after a while it turned itself off. As a reaction, I hurried starting it again to check if it still was working and it was. But after that, my friend told me to turn the phone off again as soon as possible.
    When I got home, I placed the iphone in a bag of rice without any air in it, and waited over 24 hours to check it.
    When I checked it(which I think I did too early)- it worked, and I was so happy! Everything, the sound was just fine, but after a while it didn't respond to my touches and suddenly the screen became black and green pixle-ish and grumsy, but I could still see something in the background.
    I placed it back into the rice, but this time on my bathroom floor in a bag, because it's warmer there.
    I don't dare take it out before I know that most of the water is gone, but at the same time I don't know what the problem with the screen was. Is it possible to fix it? I think I maybe can get some help from a friend, but it would be nice if anyone knew what i could do, or what the problem is.
    I also read about people who got problem with black and green screen on their iPads. Everyone who read the thread had hit their iPads on the backside of the iPad and it got normal screen again.

    Thanks, I will try that after a couple of days. I want to make sure that my iPhone is completely dry inside.

  • Qosmio G30-137 - Video card issue - the vertical lines bug

    Hi members,
    today my Qosmio G30-137 started making troubles showing vertical lines which look like this:
    After using product recovery disk Windows was unable to initiate first start and came up with a bluescreen with the error-code:
    +page fault in non-paged area STOP 0x00000050 (0xC09C3044, 0x00000000, 0X804DA90AA, 0X000000002)+
    This basically indicates that memory - either RAM, L2-Cache or Videomemory died. But i also learned that the graphic card can be smoked.
    After the blue screen you wont get the system into normal working condition, no matter what you try.
    I would strongly advise to check if your Qosmio is under warranty and see your dealer for exchange. Fortunately i bought mine 2006/06/06 so its still under warranty (even if just a view days left).
    Additional information: another member of this forum had a similar problem and reported that the whole motherboard has to be changed which causes cost of USD 700.00 and up!
    I will let you know what i ended up with.

    The Q

    Unfortunately, this sounds like a serious hardware issue as the other member suggested, the GPU (graphic card) could be faulty and therefore the replacement is necessary.
    The point is that the GPU is soldered on the motherboard and its not possible to remove the graphic chip from the board. In most cases the whole motherboard must be replaced to solve such graphic problems.
    In my opinion you should contact your ASP as fast as possible.
    The technicians should be able to help you explain the whole situation and you issue and ask for the further handling.
    Good luck buddy

  • Video card for HD and green screen

    I use a windows XP64 based machine with a quad core I7 920 processor and 12 gigs of RAM with nVidia 260 card. I use CS3. Right now I am having severe crash issues in Premeire CS3.
    I do HD 1080i video editing with up to 4 layers of green screen. I currently use Adobe AE Keylight2 for my greenscreen work. I bring the files into Premeire with "Dynamic Link". I crash, and crash, and crash. What is my best option to prevent crashing. A Quadro video card? which one? . Or, Matrox Max. My budget is somewhat limited. I can't get both. I want to upgrade to CS5 but need to fix this problem, now.
    Sincere thanx to anyone who can help

    I appreciate the quick answer and am considering moving to Windows
    7 (64). What is the sad story about Matrox? What is the best way to speed
    up my rendering or processing without having to purchase another cpu? Thanx once again for your quick response. I render primarily to h.264

    I have a problem with skype running on LG 47LW980S and AN-VC300 webcam, it seems that sometimes (usually for the second video call) the person that I call receives green screen instead of my video. If I turn off and on again the TV then it will work again for the first call at least.
    Where is the issues, on my TV or on the latest PC skype version?
    When can I expect a skype update for the smartTV?
    Please advise.

    Its is the issue with your internet speed. I normally have this problem when the internet is slow. Also the computer you are callling from your tv needs the latest version of skype.
    I have been using Skyoe on LG for a year now with no issues.

  • Green screen issues when playing videos in fb + youtube

    at first i noticed a re-occurring problem when playing videos via facebook or youtube. A green screen randomly appeared now and then until i reset the laptop. I tried many things, including one suggestion to change quality option from 480p to 140p via settings option in youtube. It worked on some occasions, was able to view video as the green screen disappeared. Of course, as expected, image quality suffered. I contacted Lenovo to inform them of issues I was having with viewing videos, they advised it was a problem with the adobe software and that I should check to see if I have an updated version installed on my laptop. (currently running O/S windows 8.1 and IE 11), I downloaded chrome, fortunately, I am able to view videos in youtube properly even though they appear as a green screen in IE 11. Not so lucky with facebook however, green screens in IE when playing Facebook video uploads appear as black screens in chrome. I reset the laptop and everything appears to be running fine. Is this an adobe software issue? Lenovo seems to think so, Seeing as how others experience the same issue regardless of the make and model of laptop, they may be right.

    Please work through the video troubleshooting guide.

    If you're still stuck, please follow the directions in the guide on providing the dxdiag report and additional information about what you tested and saw.

  • Qosmio G30 and vga/pcb problems

    My Qosmio G30 has developed a vga/pcb problem.
    Toshiba engineers tell me the vga/pcb is corrupt and needs to be replaced but since this is built-in the whole mother board must be replaced.
    The cost for this is nearly half the cost of the original machine and much more than many new Toshiba notebooks.
    Anyone have similar problem or experience anyone have any suggestions.
    Edited by: ADMIN

    To me this clearly sounds like the problem that stroke me last weekend - obviously the NVidia GPU died and causes the trouble. Check if your machine is still under warranty - if not i would claim goodwill.
    If the repair-costs are too high for you i would sell it on Ebay and get another machine as the technology level is two years (which is a century in computer-business) and you can get better performance at a lower price-point - even if it hurts to let the G30 go.

  • Green Screen Issue

    I just purchased Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 and I have shot some footage using a green screen. I finally was able to import my green footage and a background that I want to use, but I am not able to make the person solid. He looks ghostly. I've been trying to follow the instructions in:http://adobe.ly/Aa9uYo
    but with no luck. I am not able to find these eye droppers that are discussed in this video or this Ultra Key that's was discussed in CS5. Help!

    I am now trying to use Premiere Pro to burn a DVD of James for our next Video Club Meeting which is also a contest; although, I am not so much interested in the contest but I would like to show my work on DVD. I have been googling “how to burn a DVD on both YouTube and the net, I get close but it’s not working. I even tried from Encore but it’s not working. What easy to burn this from DVD, I realize Premiere Pro is not like Adobe Premiere Elements 9 or 11 which easy to do because there’s a direct link to do so, this program doesn’t have a direct link.
    I’ve been following these videos:
    http://adobe.ly/yZCUyd
    http://www.adobe.com/designcenter-archive/video_workshop/?id=vid0257
    http://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/exporting-dvd-or-blu-ray.html
    http://youtu.be/4V3QZLI1qfs
    This last video was actually one of the videos I followed to create my settings, but still I am not able to burn a DVD. Is there an easier way. Thank you for any information you can provide.

  • Scaling and green screen in premiere cs5.5

    Some background.
    Years ago we used visual communicator pro to do some green screen shooting.  I frankly did not know what I was doing with the lighting, and got a lot of spill and shadow.  I've been looking for a way to fix this.  I recently bought cs5.5 to be able to do this with Ultra keyer.
    I also have VC 2.0 running on the same computer.
    Since I don't want to set the background, and since Pr does not know how to import visual communicator raw camera streams (please, does anyone know how to convert these into something that pr can handle)  , I decided on this course of action.
    I rendered the vidieos in VC using a synthetic green screen (basiclly a solid green image produced in painshop with a color fill).
    I have rendered videos with this, and they have a solid green background with a lot of shadows in .avi format.
    I have a background that was originally to be used with each clip.  The backgrounds are  smaller than the dvi resolution of the rendered videos, so need to be scaled.  They may eventually be replaced, but not right now.  I am trying to get these rendered into green screens.  i've watched a half dozen youtube videos and have gotten part way.
    What I have done is:
    Imported this image into pr as track 1 and the video as track 2.  stretched the image length to match the video track.
    I have dragged the garbage matt onto the video.  I have dragged ultra keyer onto the video.  I can play the green screen video.
    I need to scale the image. I've tried everything in all the adobe help files and nothing seems to work.  Clicking on the transform icon and twirling the scaling open, I cannot get the handles to appear around the image in the monitor window, no matter what I try.  If I change to the video window and twirl open ultra key and 8 point garbage map, and click on the transform button, the handles for the garbage matt do not appear.  If I click on the eyedropper, I can select the key color, but it doesn't take effect.
    I am sure this is pilot error,
    What am I doing wrong?

    I have it working.  The panel is the timeline.   In the effects menu you can click the double arrow and the timeline view opens up.  THEN it works.   Go figure.
    At this point I was able to render a video.  But even with a lot of tweaking of choke, alpha channel etc, I have not been able to get rid of the gray border around the figure.  It is there in the original rendering from VC and I was hoping to be able to get rid of it. So far no joy.  I did try using it as the key, but that got othe grays in the hair, so that is no good.   I wish where was sort of a spline garbage map that you could use to tighly outline a figure, and then the renderer would be able to track motion and keep the spline garbage map with the figure outline.  It would take a lot of computing but theoretically it could be done.  Or even an auto-trace feature like the one in the old corel draw, which would autotrace an image, making a vector spline out of it.  It would then be possible to create a mask that would follow the motion of the actor.
    The shadows and such are cleanly gone though.  So now if I can reproduce the ability to do this on another clip, I have a fighting chance.  It is sad that Adobe has abandoned VC pro.  The teleprompter was a nice feature.
    I imagine that I can simulate one using some other adobe tool, but I'll just have to play with it.  I can see that using a good digital camera on a green screen and shooting footage that way will be a better solution.  The only problem is that in the past 6 years since the footage was shot, my wife has aged a bit, so reshooting these shots and trying to combine the good ones with the bad ones, might not be as cohesive as one would like.
    I appreciate your time.  I still don't know exactly *what* I did that made it start working, but I am pretty sure it was opening the timeline in the effects window.

  • Green Screen issue with an flv file

    I am attempting to create a Green Screen were I walk out onto my website and speak to the viewer. Everything looks good and plays within Premiere but after exporting and placing it on my webpage a black background shows instead of the background being transparent. can someone help with what I am doing wrong?

    > and are flv files the only ones that I would run into this with?
    There are other kinds of files that can include alpha channels (transparency). Just so that you know what to look for, QuickTime and some other formats require you to specify the inclusion of an alpha channel from a color depth or channels menu. In some cases, a plus sign (as in Millions Of Colors+) denotes an alpha channel. Similarly, choosing to output to 32 bits per pixel implies an output depth of 8 bits per channel for each of four channels: RGBA (where A is for alpha).
    But, yes, FLV with video encoded with the On2 VP6 codec is the main format for web video that supports alpha channels.
