    serial number:  602-V277-19SB 130 90 97 395
    Bios: 015.039.000.001.003331 (113-C3865000-G77)

    thanks

    There you go: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=173931.0;attach=12208
Eventually that is not even needed. it should be possible to switch between two versions with a hardware switch and one should be GOP compliant.

  • [Bios Request] GOP Bios for MSI GTX770 Lightning

Hi, I'm new here  can someone provide me with the GOP bios for my card? Thank you in advance

    BIOS : 80.04.BC.00.11 (P2005-0000)
    BIOS File : h**p://goo.gl/8kk2SP
    Cheers.

Use the attached (201 is normal and 211 is the LN2 version)
Decompress the provided .rar archive with Winrar: http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Then flash the desired file with Nvflash for dos: http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/nvflash_download.html
To do so rename the desired file to .rom and create a dos bootstick (https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=165175.0)
Put nvflash and the vbios file on it and boot from the stick. Then type nvflash -4 -5 -6 gop.rom (if renamed vbios that way) and hit enter. Confirm the questions and let the tool flash.

  • Mod GOP BIOS for MSI R9 270 Gaming

I'm curious. Will the above work for card other than MSI? I have an XFX Radeon R9 270X and I'd love to get UEFI GOP support on it.

Alright, I followed the directions and the provided file bricked my XFX Radeon. Fortunately I was able to navigate my way into the USB drive 'in the blind' (no video output) and I had my original VBIOS on my ATI FLASH device and was able to restore to my original.
So what I decided to try next was modifying MY original bios by manual inserting the UEFI GOP partition into the VBIOS. I flashed it, and now I'm very happy to say that it's working!!!
It's taken me DAYS to figure out how to do this - so I'll make a shortcut for anyone who needs it. I grabbed the attachment above and I dumped my origin VBIOS. Then I used HxD to hexedit the dollar sign (or whatever it is) to 00 (indicating that there is GOP driver available on the device), and then I directly copied the information from the provided VBIOS for the MSI card into the VBIOS for my XFX card.
Or you can just follow the guide, that I followed - http://www.overclock.net/t/1389206/do-you-want-uefi-gop-on-your-7950-7970-i-can-add-it-to-your-bios/120#post_20172963
I held my breath, flashed the new VBIOS, and rebooted. To my surprise and excitement -  I was instantly greated by the MSI BIOS picture. I then let out a huge sigh of relief and configured Windows 8.1 mode. From what I can tell - everything is working great! First boot into Windows took forever, and Windows PNP had to reinstall the AMD driver.
Other than that, everything went very smoothly :D
I'm now gonna let my computer sit for a couple hours and run some basic CPU, GPU, and RAM stress tests to make sure that everything is working correctly. I'll report back when I have the info
EDIT: Swap filing refuses to work after this (no idea why). But considering that I have 24GB's of RAM, I just went ahead and disabled it anyways. NOW everything works correctly! Gonna try some games now - see how they perform

what is the difference between this GOP and normal BIOS?
"normal" is a legacy vbios being not GOP compliant and not supporting UEFI booting while the GOP vbios does. That's it.
    Quote
    Are there any drawbacks?
No. A UEFI vbios is hybrid and works in legacy and UEFI mode besides latest GOP and legacy vbios versions are identical.
    Quote
Is GOP version older build than normal?
    No.
    Quote
why is GOP enabled BIOS not default?
Do you mean why it doesn't come with a GOP vbios out of the box? If so that is because older mainboards with a UEFI bios not being GOP compliant will not work with a vga using a GOP vbios. The system would simply not post. As there is a large variety of boards that this would happen with you can assume that many rmas would come in. The issue would happen on e.g. P67, Z68, Z77, X79, AMD 990FX based boards which aren't at a quite current bios version. For some older of these there even is no GOP compliant bios. To avoid this from happening it would be needed to offer a dual vbios so the user can switch between GOP and legacy vbios (like on new R9 2xx cards) but that adds costs. Shipping the cards with a legacy vbios ensures that it will work on all systems while the user can update later if GOP support is needed.
