Re-re save elements 12
I would like to thank all of those people who replied to my predicament of saving edited photographs. I had this problem snce loading the software (about 4 weeks). For no apparrent reason it seems to have corrected itself as i have not tried any of the replied corrections to overcome this problem. Yet it has saved the last batch of editing i have done since the last posting. Once again thanks to all contributors.
There is a known bug that affects some, but not all users. I'm guessing that you have used a previous version of PSE and PSE12 converted the older catalog. It seems to be in this scenario when, for some people, saving the image does not add the edited image to the Organizer and a version set.
Apparently if you kill the Elements AutoAnalyzer.exe process this cures the problem. I can't confirm this as I've not experienced the problem myself. Another workaround is to ensure that you are saving edited files to Watched folders. While this won't stack them, it does at least trigger the Organizer to recognise them.

That was my first thoughts too, but I have just done some tests and I don't think that is now the problem.
My test was-
1) Start with a CR2 RAW file and open it with 16 bits/channel
2) Confirm that it is in 16 bit mode - layers not available etc.
3) Save As and JPEG, JPG was an option and it converts it to 8 bit in the output file.
It seems that this has been the case since version 11 - perhaps you could try it to check that I'm not doing something wrong.
I think that Sureaddy's problem is that he is saving it first as a PSE file. After doing that, I can only save it as a PDF or a PSE file.
Sureaddy
When first editing an image, I suggest you save it as a PSD (Photoshop file) not as a PSE (Photo Project File). If you are using layers, then you will be in 8 bit mode. Providing you don't save as a PSE file you should then have the option of saving it in JPEG/JPG format.
If you must use the PSE format, you could try using the Save for Web option - that can produce a JPG file.
As for your lock up problem, is there any pattern to when it locks up?

Save and reuse elements in a new Project
Firstly, ^5 on Edge Reflow! I love it to bits!
Will you guys allow to save elements to the assets library in order to use those elements in a new Project? (not a new page in the current project.)
Guess similar to an predefined assets library where you drag and drop elements, but creating your own and saving it. Like Fireworks?
Many Thanks!A lot of this depends on your sequence setting and your output device. So thoughts:
You want to get these elements to a standalone file just in case you re-install or upgrade CS4 and your project directory (and hence your template) gets erased or moved.
If, for example, your output is a DVD or BD and the standard elements are, say a logo, you could use AME to create the MPEG or H.264 that you can then import into Encore as an asset everytime you do a project. Saves rendering time.
Otherwise, you use AME to create an export file --probably uncompressed, or at a minimum MS AVI with the corect aspect ratio and dimensions.
What I have done with standard footage in a HDV sequence, is to export with AME to a 1440 x 1081i 1.33 MPEG2 file. At the fundamental level the HDV file (removed from the streaming envelope used with tape) is MPEG2. (I think I remember this correctly) -

I have a multi leveled directory of hundreds of ai images (black and white) which take up a few gbs on disk. To reduce size illustrator (lossless) has two useful features: delete unused panels action and save without embedded ICC profile which reduces the file size by around 90%.
Thus I want either script or batch action to iterate through my whole multileveled diecctory and perform the two key operations on each file whilst overwriting the original that was opened.
I'm no good with scripting so I've looked at the batch action. Delete unused panels is already within illustrator (cs4) so it's just getting an action that will save without the icc profile and overwrite in the same directory that the relevant file was opened in.
I've tried every recording to try and get this done but every single recorded save action leaves the save element as 'Save as'. I've tried messing with all the batch operation options and no matter what I do, the batch action removes the icc profile and the unused layers but saves every single file in the root directory and leaves the original in the directory structure.

1. How do you save Elements edited photos to iphoto? I have watched the tutorial and my changes do not revert to iPhoto library.
2. I am trying to use Elements 12 as an editor only. I have inadvertantly imported all my photos from iPhoto. I don't wish to use Elements for this purpose. Should I delete the imported photos? Could this cause problems by not deleting them?Elements, simply makes links to files and folders but the folders in Organizer probably look like gobbledygook as all the iPhoto sizes and faces are copied.
Simply ignore Organizer altogether and set up the PSE Editor as your external Editor Application- see link at the bottom.
You can then edit directly from iPhoto.
There is no risk of deleting stuff as iPhoto keeps your originals safely in a hidden folder. The revert command means you can always go back to your original in iPhoto.

Warp Stabilizer Analyze Data - where does it really save?
Hello,
I had cut 4 episode documentary series on a macPro with CS6. I had used the Sub Space Warp stabilizer feature on many of the clips. All clips had been stabilized and I saved the project on our server with the projects files, preview files and Auto save files.
I then got a computer upgrade to a new macPro with more RAM - graphic - and processing power. Yay! I have CS6 and CC installed on this.
I received the final design elements to insert into the series ( the L3 and titles and credits ) and went to go and export the project off the server from this new computer.
It seems that all of the clips that I have used the Sub Space Warp Stabilizer need to be re-analyzed again, as the exports had the orange banner across the clips stating that it is being analyzed.
My question is, does Premier have to reanalyze the clips again because I have a new computer and the Sub Space warp data doesn't save with the project files but instead locally on the machine that edited the project?
If so, can I get all the project data and cache to save with the project files?
When I started this project, as with any project, I direct all the save elements and caches to a specific drive location, so various computers can work with the edit, and for efficiency. I don't think that the Sub Space Warp analyze data gets off the local computer drive... Am I wrong?
Any comments are appreciated.

I wonder why my exports had the orange analyze banner across the clips with the Warp Stabilizer on it.
You figure with that data stored in the project file, it would just load up with the project,
and when the software says "All media Loaded" - that I wouldn't have to go back to each clip and get it to re-analyze for stabilization.
So time consuming.
I hope that is is an isolated incident.
This doesn't not seem to be the case, as I am not alone.

Did you ever find a solution to your problem?
My situation is that I'm running a process that grabs data from a salesforce.com web service and dumps some of the data back into my local database. The process croaks after processing 850 or so records. I have also increased my PermSize memory to 512M.
Any ideas why all of a sudden after processing that many records it would stop working?

Saving an integer array into a .txt file
hii, im only a beginner in java, so this is the only code i've learned so far for saving array elements into a file

However, this is only used for string arrays; and i can't call the same method for an integer array (because it's not compatible with null)
I don't really understand this code either... since my teacher actually just gave us the code to use, and didn't really explain how it works

Could someone suggest a way to save elements from an integer array to a file, and read integer elements of that file?
Or if it's possible, replace null with a similar variable (function?), that is suitable for the integer array (i can't use temp != 0 because some of my elements might be 0)
Thanks so much!!!!!because it's not compatible with nullI think it should be okay to just remove the null condition check since there are no null elements in a primitive array when writing.
Use Integer.parseInt() [http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/api/java/lang/Integer.html] to convert the String into an Integer when you read it back and use Integer.toString() to be able to write it as a String. -

Powershell changes xml even if not asked to
Im reading an xml file into powershell xml variable.
Originally I was modifying some values in the file, and saving it back out, but found the app that uses the file was discarding it as it found issues.
So if I read in the file, don't change anything but then save it as a new file, powershell changes the xml!
there are extra spaces and other things added.
One thing I notice its doing is for an empty element, it adds a space between the element and the forward slash.
e.g.
before save <element/>
after save <element />
Here is the code im using.
[xml]$fileContents = Get-Content -Path $XMLConfigFileLocation
$fileContents.Save($xmlWorkingFile)
This is causing a 3rd party app that uses the file to throw errors.
Im aware the 3rd party app probably is not processing the xml file correctly but i have no control over that.

Opening Multi-page PDFs in Illustrator CS2
A client sent me a 32 page pdf that was originally created from a giant Illustrator file. (He doesn't have the original Illustrator file). I want to rebuild it using InDesign, and I need to save elements from each page to use in my new layout.
So am I correct that in order to do this, I have to open the pdf in Illustrator, choose page 1 from the dialog, save it out as an Illustrator file. Then open the pdf again, choose page 2, save it out. And so on, up to page 32? In other words, I need to open the pdf 32 times to get at each page? I can't seem to find anything in my books addressing this. And there is no option for opening it as a multi-page Illustrator document (with page tiling).
Thanks for any ideas!Do you have a copy of Acrobat 7 or 8 (Pro, not Reader)? If so, open the PDF in Acrobat and from the Document menu select Extract pages making sure you have checked the box that says Extract Pages as Separate Files.

i have found some example about how to create dynamic trees... and also found and example wich is similiar to my case on how to Building a hierarchical tree from recursive tables(Frank Nimphius' Blogbuster)....
i have a answer.... i want for the same example to hve on the right of the tree a form in wich i can add the eleemtn in the tree.... so i need a form to add element , and three buttons to add , delet, and save elements from the forms, in the moment they are deleted from forms are also deleted from tree....
can anyone pls give me and idea how to do this :):) or there is any similiar example with this case..

Random try (based on my not reading the unformatted code): it throws an Exception. What is the Exception class and message, which line is it thrown at?

Display turns to REDISH hue after startup
The display works fine in safe boot mode or when at 256 color resolution, but when starting up in regular boot the color changes from the normal blue startup screen to the REDISH hue... running from the digi display out to a Gateway which has run just fine for a year. I've tried Diablotin & turned just about everything off that is a startup item...
any suggestions?Great idea... not one I had thought of and so I thought that would be it... made sense, but settings are fine and it still does the same thing...
I tried turning it off though with diablotin and also am trying to turn off different screen saver elements... still red right before the screen changes into the main desktop.

I just recently purchased Elements 13. I am in the process of creating a DVD face for a video. The design is complete and I would like to be able to save it as a JPEG so I can use it in another program that prints my DVD's. The problem is that it only allows me to save the file as at PSE or a PDF. No other options are available. Why is this? I upgraded from Elements 10. In Elements 10 I have never had a problem saving this type of project as a JPEG. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
ANSWER FOUND!
Once I finished composing my question I went back and spent some time to figure out the problem. Rather than choosing the "save as" option, which doesn't work, or attempting to choose "export" (grayed out), the correct option is to choose "export creation", which is near the very bottom of the initial drop down options. That works! I still think it would make sense to have it as an option in the "save as" area.
