Re-recording to a new track when original track has right channel off

I have a track and when the volume is off on the right channel, the guitar (right channel) is silent.
How do I bounce this track, with the guitar silent, to a new track so the guitar is no longer present in the recording?
I'm sure it's a routing issue from the original track to the new track, but can't seem to implement it.

Try to do the following:
Make a new logic song.
Turn OFF universal trackmode, in your audio preferences.
Import your stereo audio track, and create two new mono audio channels.
drag the stereo audio file to the two mono audio files.
DONE.
if you then want to make a mono file from the channel without the guitar, export that file by itself, bounce it, or however you like to export audio regions.

Imported track...switching left/right channels

I have a track imported to GarageBand, and i have two questions. I don't know if either can be done through GB, but i'll give it a shot...
1. Can i switch the left and right channel, so that what was originally sent to the left channel will be on the right instead, and vice versa?
2. If i have a stereo spread that is too wide, can i move the spread closer to the center? I don't want complete mono, but i do want a tighter stereo spread that moves the instruments closer to the center.
Mind you, this is not a track i recorded on my own. It was an imported track from iTunes, so i can't go into the song, and separate individual recording tracks. The only thing i have to work with is the right/left channels in the song.

Then you can install iWork '05 on the new computer with a clear conscience. Obviously, the previous install is unusable.

Premiere only showing and playing 1 Audio Track when my file has 2

I recorded some gameplay while also talking through my mic.
When I play the .avi file in VLC I'm able to switch between 2 tracks.
Track 1 has my gameplay sound and track 2 has my voice commentary.
When I place my file into Premiere it only shows and plays the gameplay sound.
How do I show both tracks in Premiere so I can edit them separately?

GB not seeing real instr track when second track is playing

I'm trying to record a mic'd amp into a real instrument track.It registers and shows that the signal is coming through but only when no other tracks are playing. As soon as a second track starts playing, the real instrument track is not picking anything up. Why not? It seems like sometimes it will work and other times not.
I am using an Apogee One for input and have the preferences set so that the One is the input and output is through "built in output".
Any ideas?

Copying Read Only folders when original "owner" has been deleted?

I am considering creating a Read Only folder on an external disk to download my raw images to. PhotoMechanic allows you to "ingest" to 2 diferent locations when downloading off a card, so one of these locations could be Read Only for safe keeping of the originals.
Thinking ahead though - if the startup disk fails some time in the future and the administrator account is lost will I be able to change the rights to this folder from a newly created user?

If it's on an external, non-booting disk you can check the "Ignore ownership on this volume" at the bottom of the GetInfo window for the disk. Anyone can read them then. If you have an admin account you can do anything, include poke around in another user's stuff. And, of course, should you install a fresh system on a new drive, just be the first admin user with the same user name (assuming that's what you are now) and the stuff will still be yours.

Ipod transfer to new comp when old comp has crashed?

so my laptop that had itunes and all of my music crashed along with the hard drive and unfortunetly lost everything on it.
My ipod has my entire music library, but how do I transfer all those songs, even those that weren't purchased from itunes, from my ipod to my brand new laptop?
Is this even possible to do without ever having access to your old computer again? I also don't want to clear all the songs on my ipod when I plug it into my new computer... please help!

Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows. If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up in case you have problems again. Relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

How am I supposed to open a new tab when the "+" icon has been removed?

The icon I used to use to open new tabs has disappeared since the last Firefox update. I cannot find a menu, button, icon or anything to open a new tab anymore. How am I supposed to open a tab?

I have copied over my music files to a new computer and the music shows on itunes but wont play. When I track where the song is located it is reading the wrong information. How do I change this as Edit>Preferences has the right location?

Select one of the tracks with a broken link, press ctrl-i to Get Info. Say No when iTunes asks if you would like to locate the track, then look at the Summary tab for the location expects to find the file in.
Now try to locate the file in question. The two locations should give a clue as to what to do next.
Here is an example with a file I've deliberately moved from the new layout to the old pre-iTunes 9 layout.
This means iTunes is expecting to find the file at:
D:\iTunes\iTunes Media\Music\a-ha\Take On Me\01 Take On Me.mp3
but it isn't there because I've moved it to:
D:\iTunes\iTunes Media\a-ha\Take On Me\01 Take On Me.mp3
which is where it would have lived back in iTunes 8 (though the media folder would have been called iTunes Music back then as well).
If you can provide the expected and actual locations of a broken track I should be able to suggest the easiest way to resolve things.

It sounds like one of your preferences has changed.
Go to preferences > audio > general, and make sure "track mute/solo" is set to "CPU saving (slow response)". It is probably set to "Fast " at the moment.
This setting (fast) basically causes immediate muting from the channel strip while your song is in play. This is because the audio is still being read from the hard drive, but the channel strip is simply muted.... like a hardware mixer. When set to "CPU saving", the audio from that track, when muted, is actually stopped from streaming from the hard drive, but there is a couple second delay before the audio is actually muted.
One would think that the fast setting is generally preferable, except when you need to do what you are doing. The only way to keep duplicate copies of channel strips acting independent of one another is to leave this setting on the "CPU saving" setting.

I am able to 'create a new version from original' but when I try to export the original, I only get a .jpg with the XMP file. The original is obviously there but why can't I access it please?

In Aperture 3 when I right click on an image I am able to 'create new version from original' which suggests that the original is there. When I try to export the original I only get a .jpg with the XMP file. These particular images are from 2010, has the RAW file become disconnected somehow? Sorry leonie, 'Use RAW as Original' is not an option for the image shot with the Canon.
Then your Import settings must have been different, when you imported the Canon photos.
You can check, if there is still a hidden raw file somewhere. If the image has been imported as a pair, you should see the "J" badge in Browser and Viewer, if you enable badge overlays. This indicates a pair, with the jpeg as original.
Select one of those images, and then relocate the original files "File > Relocate original" to a folder, where you can inspect it. Use "File > Show in Finder" after ward. Look, don't touch .
Then put it back, using "File > Consolidate".
Do you see your raw files in the folder, or is only a jpeg there?

I can only hear my record enabled track when recording,not when just playing

This has to be a simple one - normally I can hear my record enabled track when playing back or recording but suddenly i can only hear it when I am actually recording. I must have accidentally selected an option i am unaware of - can someone please help!

In case anyone is also stuck I went to Options->Audio where there is an Auto Input Monitoring option. I turned it off and it fixed my issue.

Recording Audio...Can't hear over other tracks when recording!!

Hello again and thanks for the help. So why, when I'm recording audio, a guitar for example, is the signal so low I can barely hear it above the other tracks. Then, all of a sudden, when I play back what I recorded it almost knocks me back off my seat it's so loud. How do I turn up a track i'm recording enabled track so that I can hear better what's being recorded? This is a problem I've run into myself and when I'm recording others, like a vocalist. I need some way to turn up a "cue" send level even if it's coming out the same monitors that the rest of the mix/track/song is.
Any tips would be much appreciated. THANKS AGAIN

I understand that this is directly related to my monitoring capability but am assuming there's some way, INSIDE of Logic, that this level adjustment can be made. Why, when recording, can you barely hear a signal and then when a track is automatically set to 0.0 dB it is much much louder. Why the difference.
I, too, have a MOTU 828mkII. Admittedly not as good with it as I should be, I need to work more with my monitor mix but this situation seems to often be used to dodge my real question ^ up above. Any tips or tricks are much appreciated so that's cool, but see if you can at least shed some light on what I'm confused about up there^^^^^^
I DO NOT want to use headphones to record this guitar. Feels more natural for me to record directly into Input 1 of the 828 and hear all the tracks coming out of my monitor while I'm recording the guitar over it. Again, why so quiet when recording and why, then, so loud when no level adjustments have been made when playing back the audio. Again, no level adjustments made on anything and all of a sudden the most recently recording track is louder relative to all others
