Re: Recording volume control

No Name are U still out there?
Still need some help trying to adjust recording volume. Wish I had read a previous post that advises that the adjustments made by MacMP3Gain were permanent. But anyway, what I did read was the instructive post that said: >When using track gain with a lot of different songs, just make sure that the Target MP3 Gain Value is set to 89 dB, and each track will be adjusted so that the loudest perceived volume of each track will be around 89 dB. <
But I don't see an option for "Track Gain". The only options are Album Gain and Radio Gain. Am using vers. 1.9 Is there another version?
Also- in iTunes, I do no have the Soundcheck option under prefs-->Advance-->Burning. Only have it under Playback. Is that in a newer version of iTunes? Am using 6.0.2. Thank-U.

revised note!!!
I DONT CHECK THE FORUMS SO CAN YOU EMAIL ME DIRECTLY!

  • WaveStudio recording volume control

I'm using WaveStudio 7 in concert with my Soundblaster to digitize lp's. I'm also using a Graham Slee preamp with good results. I might be missing this feature somewhere, but I can't seem to find an adjustable recording volume feature. I've even tried to reduce volume input-via the sound card through the Windows device settings. This feature is greyed out.
The older version of WaveStudio had an adjustable input level feature. Does version 7 have one somewhere?
    Much thanks!
    Zound Guy

Think I have solved it. Go into control panel->sound. Under the recording tab select the appropriate input, Line-In in my case, set as default then adjust properties. Under the levels tab you can increase the volume of the input.

  • Recordable Volume Change Control Number?

Does any one know the midi control number that Garageband 09 uses to record volume changes on a software instrument track?
I'm not talking about the standard Midi control number 7 for volume - this only controls the left-right fader in the track header and Garageband does not record volume changes to this fader.
There's a value from 1 to 127 that will record volume changes as a part of the track itself. Does anyone know what that number is? Or does anyone have the table for all the control numbers that Garageband uses, or can anyone provide a link to such a table of such control numbers?
    Thanks.

  • I need help with voice memo and volume control

I really dislike to update my iphone's software.  I have Iphone 4S and I have been using voice memo to record lectures for sometime.
It was working well till updated my Iphone's software (IOS or whatever that is).  Now I can't transfer my voice memo to my computer
and I have tried so many things people have suggested online which are 1. restart my mac book, 2. turn off and on my Iphone 3.
check voice memo when syncing my iphone with macbook.  It is not working.  Also, I totally messed my volume control.  I went to
Genuis bar and the lady who helped told me that my Iphone has some issues before which is making my Iphone go nuts.
In short, 1.  I cannot sync my voicemail
                 2.  my volume does not work....i have to turn it on and off

  • Why is the volume control grayed out?

    Hi,
I am attempting to record from a Sony ECM-MS957 mike that is connected to my iBook with a Griffin iMic onto GarageBand3.
I am following the "Learn to Podcast" tutorials from Apple. With the Sony mic connected the volume control in the track info window is grayed out. If I un-plug the Sony mic and use the built in mic the volume control becomes active.
I have the iMic selected in the System Preferences and the volume indicator responds to the mic. The iMic is also selected in the GarageBand preferences.
Can someone explain to me what I am doing wrong here.
    Thanks

  • How can I control the PP (monitor) volume using my computer volume controls.

I'm no longer able to control the PP (monitor) volume using my computer volume controls. I've always controlled the monitor volume using my computer volume levels, but starting today, that has changed.
The volume is just playing at the level recorded with no way for me to turn down or up.
I performed a disc repair and that didn't solve the problem.

Does the OS volume control affect anything?  System beeps and sych?

  • Recording Volume

    Hello,
I have looked for this topic without success. If I missed it forgive me.
Forever I have been able to control the recording volume via the info track selection.
Then just like that it is gray'd out and not allowing me to adjust it.
My wifes G5 runing GB2 had the same problem but fixed itself when she plugged in the Snowball mic by Blue®
I have the same mics and like I sid there were no problems. I have tried everything I know of, from rebooting to reinstalling.
So now when I try to record audio, be it a guitar or vocal I am peeking out all over the place. Even if I go into the main system preferences and bring the output volume for the input way down, the recording is still sounding distorted.
I am using a basic track with no effect either.
    Sincerely,
    At A Loss

Sorry for the long delay. Never was notified you rang.
Anyway yes it is a USB mic. Problem was:
One the firmware on this new mic was not a Rev1 mic (meaning the Rev1 Snowballs volume input was controllable via the music software .
The new mic's have changed things up a bit by making the user use the systems volume input via the system pref's. (which was a dumb move but oh well)
They do have a better sound quality. Also i think it is note worthy to mention folks who are having problem powering their USB mic throug a HUB. The HUB needs to be powered. I use the HUB Belkin® made for the MacMini® and it works fine.
    Thanks,
    Robert

  • Looking For Passive Volume Control !

i'm having a hard time finding a attenuator to go between my sound card and amp. not intersted in big knob. what i actually want is the nht volume control. simple, low cost, great quality, but they are out till january. can anyone recommend another.
    thanks
here is link to one that i want but are out

<<<GW, i have custom equipment made by Wynn Morro(Avalon founder) that i use as part of a summing mixer along with VP TransAmps, LarsLundal transformers, etc. and various other pro grade components.
i've also designed a number of tube based components (built by R.GilesAudio), such as tube mic-pres, eq's and levellers.
my signal paths are as minimal as possible, with no ic/opamps.
this to me, is real audio.
my DAW/Mac setup is just one very minor part of the rig.
and the one most easily replaced.
everything else is acually appreciating in dollar value year by year, while my DAW/Mac system will only ever go south.
i still much prefer analog/tape based sound to what any DAW can do at the moment. >>>
Sound like you've got a rocking analog setup, which is great. If you ever get a chance to work at Sear Sound in NY, you and Walter Sear would have a field day. But the question was "who makes a decent 6-channel volume control that doesn't cost an arm and a leg", not "does person X have an appreciation of the difference between analog and digital" (which, after 25 years recording, mixing and producing, I do). The SPL unit looks about right to me ($550 is a leg, but not an arm and leg), and I'll probably cop. The DAC's on my 02r analog card kind of take a dump at very low levels (I route through the 02r so I can instantly switch between a 5.1 and stereo/subwoofer setup) and I'd like to be able to run them all the time as close to full code as possible...

  • Two Mics in Garage Band, Separate Volume Controls

Hi, I am doing an interview.  I have two USB powered mics plugged into my macbook pro.  I set up the micrphones as an "aggregate device" in Audio MiDi Setup.  I have the male voice on one track as podcasting male narrator noisy.  The female voice is set up as podcasting female narrator noisy.  The two tracks are recording, but I can't seem to adjust the volume controls.  Not sure where to lower the volume on one track and bump up the volume on the second track. Any idea what I need to be doing.  Also, I am not hearing a thing in my headsets.  Thanks for your help.

Also, I am not hearing a thing in my headsets.
Set the monitor to "on" in the track info.
The two tracks are recording, but I can't seem to adjust the volume controls.
Do you mean in the track info or the main track volume? You set the basic recording level in the info pane to max out your gain, but of course you can still mix the tracks after recording using the track volume slider.

  • Soundblaster live platinum Recorder volume way too

i've been using this soundcard for awhile and i've never had a problem with it until recently when i tried to record something and it said my sound card wasnt in so i plugged it back in and reinstalled the drivers and i have sound but when i try to record u cant hear anything and i've adjusted the volumes and i've gone and made sure that i went to volume control and checked everything out and everything is set right.. what should i do?

You could try a cleansweep of the soundcard (removing the drivers software completely, then reinstalling):
    http://us.creative.com/support/kb/article.asp?l=2&sid=72
Once the card is up and running again, check the mixer settings to ensure the microphone is selected as the recording source, and that you've adjusted the volume. Does it record the signal? If it's recorded, but you can't hear it while you're recording, then check the micrphone isn't muted.

  • Volume has fixed value after recording volume-slider

    Hi
I recorded a part I played on my keyboard and after that recorded volume-changes I made with the volume slider . But after the so created region the volume stays fixed on the last recorded value. Is there a way to avoid that ? Has to do something with last volume message that isn't ended.

no one knows how to have controle over the volume slider again after a hyperdraw in a region? Is it normal that the volume is fixed for the rest of the song unless you hyperdraw or automate again ? very anoying.....Even after moving all trackautomation to region it stays fixed , you should have full controle agsin over the volume.
    Is this a bug?

  • Set volume control

on my 1gb nano when i want to raise the volume control i get it to the place to set it,move the bar and hit the center button as instructed.some times it goes back to the previous window and sometimes it goes to the next window where you either set a code or just hit done.then it goes backto the window ahead of the one that the volume control bar is in.hit the button to go to the volume control to check it and its right back where it started.so how do i make it set?this is getting to be a pain.and it is updated with the latest up dates.

    Hi,
Right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select 'Recording devices'.  Left click the 'Internal Mic' once just to highlight it and then click the Properties button.  The controls you require should be on the 'Levels' tab.
    NOTE:
If you do not see the option as described above, try using Recovery Manager to reinstall your Audio Driver ( IDT, Connexant etc ) - the procedure for using recovery manager to reinstall Software and Drivers is detailed in the relevant document on the link below.
    Recovery Manager - Windows 7
    Recovery Manager - Windows Vista
After the reinstallation has completed, restart the notebook and check if the option is now available.

  • RE: Macbook Pro mid 2010 headphone socket, volume control fault.

RE: Macbook Pro, volume control faulty (shaded out) when i unplug my headphones the headphone socket doesn't swithch to the internal speakers after searching around for answers i found faulty i  found a the faulty headphone socket is common on MBP.
After fidling around with preferences having no luck i finally tried the old paper clip test but i used an iphone sim card tool just to be on the safe side and would you believe it its a faulty sensor.
i am very unhappy with Apple who are obviously are aware of this problem and the hundreds of posts out there grapically recording it i have several macs this one,s standard warranty ran a few months ago so i will have to pay out even more for this is this a taste of things to come as Apple gets bigger and bigger leaving quality behind, that would be a shame.

I don't believe so since it crashed again while doing a time machine back up while in safe boot and there is no mention of vmware in the crash report for that. Also it definitely has nothing to do with windows either since I'm able to boot directly into the windows partition with no problems.

  • Nike+ Stopping and starting with headphones with volume control

I have new headphones, the apple ones that you can control the volume and stop start and skip to the next song. About two weeks after using them on runs, the program starts hesitating (stopping workout switching songs at random). I have returned headphones to Apple Store and recieved new ones with the same result about two weeks later. Please help, it is a big inconvience.

Has anyone found a solution for this? I've gone through two news sets of Apple headphones (with mic and volume control), and I'm still having this problem. It isn't continuous, and I can't seem to find a cause/effect relationship. But, it is very annoying, and makes using Nike+ worthless. Yesterday's 40 minute run only recorded as 33 minutes. Thanks for any help.

  • Volume control when using front row with an external audio interface

    Hi,
I got my macbook last week, and so far, I love it. But I've got a small gripe with FrontRow - in my room at college, I have my macbook plugged into an oldish Tascam US-122, which I use a lot for recording. The Tascam is connected to my expensive active speakers, and ideally, I'd like to be able to play back via FrontRow to the Tascam, to the speakers, while retaining remote control. This isn't a problem for selecting Photos/Videos/Music etc, but the problem arises when I want to change the volume - the remote simply controls the volume of the macbook's internal speakers, not affecting the output of the Tascam.
I know I could just connect the speakers via the headphone output, but that would mean more cables, and more chopping and changing system preferences to suit whether I'm making music or just listening.
*So - is there any way at all that I can make the macbook's global volume control (using the volume hotkeys and remote) affect the signal its sending (via USB) to the Tascam?* I know its not impossible, because until recently I used it with a PC running XP, and that allowed me to use the volume control app to boost or cut the Tascam's volume. Perhaps its an issue with the Tascam's OSX driver?
The Tascam has its own physical volume knob, so its not like I'm stuck listening at deafening or very quiet volumes, and I know this sounds like an issue with my laziness rather than FrontRow or the macbook, but surely it defeats the point of FrontRow if I have to walk across the room every time I want to turn the tunes up or down?!
Any help would be much appreciated!
    Cheers,
    Thom Bishop

hmm, yeah, thats kinda what i suspected - i reckon this is to do with the way the frontrow interface is set up, but theres no way (as far as i can see) to make everything pass through the main system stereo channel BEFORE going to an external audio interface... which is COMPLETELY bizarre, since system sounds/alerts get passed to the audio interface fine.
and no, i very much doubt whether ANY external audio interface would respond to apple remote (gap in the market, perhaps?).
this would be a fairly simple problem to solve, if only apple were aware of it... of course, i COULD try getting to grips with audio units and seeing if i couldnt fix it myself, but ive frankly not got the time to learn how that works! how can i make apple aware of this issue?? are they already aware??
