hi guys,
bought my daughter a pod for crimbo & my 4yr old son keeps nickin it off her to play games so purposely bought him a second hand one with loads of games n stuff on for him but prob i am havin is when i log in to itunes, it registers the pod in previous owner so cannot get updates & stuff.. so in a nutshell, i don't want to wipe it because of the reason i bought it but even if i did, i assume it would still register in previous owner.. i have been on apple site but seem to go round in circles & no further forward so can i get round this at all so that i can re-register this pod on my account to save all that is on it please..

It sounds like you purchases a used iPod. In that case the media did not transfer with the purchase. The media is not transferable. You should go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and setings and set up the iPod as new and then sync your media.
- Apps are locked to the account that purchased them.
  - To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps.

Unfortunately you will have to erase everything and install the operating system + upgrades + third party software yourself as it's all copy protected now and you can't update the software unless you have the AppleID.
I know this is an old thread which I have found by Googling because I have the same problem as the OP, and the above response is incorrect, so feel I ought to put the record straight. I think ds store is answering a different question.
The problem is that the serial number of my legitimately purchased secondhand computer is linked to a different Apple ID on the Apple Support servers.
No amount of erasing and re-installing on the machine is going to change that fact.
In my case I removed the HDD and RAM which came with the machine and put a new SSD and new RAM, and completely reinstalled. Not one byte of info from the previous owner exists on the machine.
My machine is linked to my Apple ID in every respect except in the Support Profile registration. All my MAS and iTunes purchases are available and all aspects of iCloud, including Find My Mac, are working perfectly.
The machine is out of Apple warranty so there is no actual need for it to be registered on My Support Profile, but it does irk me that is isn't.
I bought it from a national chain who buy and sell used computers, and although I will contact them I have zero expectation of being able to contact the seller.
I can imagine that it would be very easy to sell a computer and forget to unregister it on "My Support Profile" so there must be a lot of secondhand computers out there not registered to their current owner.

  • How can I register a second hand mac book to my apple account?

I just bought a second hand mac book, and I would like to register it to ;y account to be able to access things (like my ibooks) registered from my iPad directly on my mac book.
the previous owner asked the apple supprt and they said I need to contact them to make them update the information about this mac book to my account, but I can't contact them because the mac book does not have any guarantee anymore ... I don't need a technical supprt, just need to update the mac book information to my accound.
    what ca I do?

thnaks for the answer. The previous owner asked apple care to disassociate the mac but they said that the new owner needs to contact them so that they can update the ownership (apparently they can't leave it with nobody).
In fact the previous owner erased the HDD, and as it is my first mac book, I did not have any licence to re-install it so we re-installed it with his accout.
the previous owner used the chat support, but I can't find it

I had trouble updating iPhoto so I uninstalled it but now I can't reinstall it. I'm using a second hand iMac so I'm not using the Apple ID that was used to first register it. When I go to the App Store and try to download iPhoto it just says (accept) I click this but nothing happens ?

Any help will be most appreciated

All you need is the 10.6.x disc and insert into the SuperDrive. Then reboot while holding down the C key when you hear the startup tone. Open Disk Utility - Erase and then reinstall OS X. No registration is necessary.

I bought a second hand ipod 4 and it's not letting me sign into icloud. A message saying the five free accounts have already been registered to this ipod.? what can I do?

    From a previous post:
UPDATE:  it is possible to remove an iCloud affiliation from a device when the maximum number of free accounts has been used.  I used the "reset and erase" option from Settings | General | Reset | Erase All Content and Settings.  When this was finished, the iPod was like new - not just "restored" as we can do within iTunes and I had done with this device - it was legitimately restored.  I signed in with my son's newly created Apple ID and it was accepted and now the device works like a charm.  It also still uses my Apple ID and password for the iTunes and App stores, however I have restrictions in place to prohibit him from downloading or buying any content.  I hope this helps anyone else that has reported this question.

The Apple ID and Password that was Originally used to Activate the iDevice is required.
If you cannot get this information from the seller
Removing a device from a previous owner’s account
You need to return the Device for a refund, as you will not be able to re-activate it.

  • Registering a second hand ipod 4

i bought a used ipod touch 4th gen on ebay a few months ago. when i connected the cable to my computer it recognised the device as a camera. i looked online for an answer and realised that there is a version of windows which recognises the new ipod as a camera. i also found that i needed to get the latest version of windows and make sure the ipod was registered. i've downloaded the latest version of windows, but i have no idea how to register a second hand ipod.

    What do you mean "register"?

  • How to register a second hand iphone to My Support Profile

how to register a second hand iphone to My Support Profile, when i do this, it shows that this phone have already registered by others. but i cannot contact the owner before, what can i do?

It appears that the seller did not do what he was supposed to do.
First of all, if it is out of warranty, registering it will not help you necessarily as you will have to pay for any tech support. However, you can always take it to your nearest Genius Bar and the diagnostic/troubleshooting will be free. Second, unless the seller removes it from his registered products list on the website, there is nothing you can do unless you know his Apple ID and password.
Now, in order to get rid of his Apple ID on your computer, you will need to completely erase the hard drive. You will need to use internet recovery for this so you can wipe it and then download the original OS and associate that with your own Apple ID. Boot up holding Command + Option + R until you see a spinning globe. It will eventually connect to Apple's servers (+/- 15 minutes); once you see the Utilities window, use Disk Utility to erase the drive. When finished, back to the screen, choose to reinstall OS X. That should result in a factory fresh install which you can set up with your own ID.
Remember to back up your files first as you will lose everything.

  • Can I sale my original copy of Aperture on the second hand market?

    Dear fellow members,
I would be interested to know what policy Apple Co. has regarding the resale of its software on the second hand market. Precisely, if I sale a software which I don't use anymore to another person, will this person be able to correspond his/her name to the original license key program?
    In my case,
I wish to sell my Aperture application to someone, as my camera isn't supported. I already registered Aperture under my name several months ago...
Will the new user be able to register it under his own name as he wishes ?

Yes you can. Refer to the license agreement which can be found on Apple's Aperture site. This can only be done once by the original owner.

  • Second hand blackberry 9320

My sister's friend gave me a second hand blackberry curve 9320.According to her, the phone was originally set in Arabic (she found the phone whens she was in Saudi). As a matter of fact, I never had BB before. So everything abount BB is new to me.
So she gave me the phone, already reformatted and now in English language.
My problem about the phone is that I cannot to any internet conenction (wifi or mobile data)
I am not registered to any data plan andjust depending on my free mb internet.
And it says that BIS is not connected.
Since I receive the phone, I never had the chance to change the internet settings. I've been using the phone for texting and calling only.
    Please I need help.
    Thank you so much.

    This is the problem.
To use the proprietary BB services (including Push email capability, BBM, often even web browsing, etc.), you must have an adequate data plan from your carrier, even if you wish to use it solely via WiFi. The carriers host BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) for their BB users. Typically, BIS is not available via generic data plans. Many carriers call what is necessary The Blackberry Data Plan. Whatever they call it, it is the carrier who delivers BIS to their BB users -- contact them for assistance. Once you have a Push-email enabled BIS-capable data plan on your BB (at whatever fees your carrier will charge, btw), your BB-proprietary services will function (e.g., you will have Personal/Internet Email added to the email setup wizard, your BBM will function, etc).
With hundreds of carriers in the world, each with dozens of different data plans, it's impossible to tell you specifically what any service plan might actually provide. Only the carriers can answer that question. The best thing to do is to decide what services you desire, and then talk to your carrier about obtaining (from them) a data plan that enables what you desire.

  • If I buy a second hand nano, can I use it on my itunes?

I have been offered a second hand nano and was wondering if it is registered to their itunes can i use it on mine? If it hasn't been registered by them I presume it will be ok.

Sure. If you allow iTunes to blat the content already on it, and sync to your iTunes, it'll be yours.
iTunes doesn't really care about the device - it cares about your account - any device that's synced to your account is "yours" as far as iTunes cares.

  • How to Reset Second Hand Mac Mini?

I'm about to purchase a second hand mac mini from ebay. It's the MD387LL/A model. I've verified that it is still under the one year warranty.
How do I reset the mac mini so that:
I get a factory fresh install so it's like new
The one year warranty will be in my name/appleID
I can purchase an AppleCare extended warranty and apply it to this unit that I'm purchasing.
Any advice? Am I going to need the previous owner to do anything to it? Or can I do this on my own without their help?
