Re Registering iLife 06

I have upgraded to iLife 08 and want to sell on my copy of iLife 06. I can't find a product code anywhere for it on the disc or packaging. In fact all I have is the disc in a paper c.d. cover. Is it possible to re install it on another computer not belonging to me as I don't have it installed on any of my computers? Also is there no where within the Apple website you can go to and check what you have registered and not registered?

Apple does in fact maintain an online facility where you can register your products, but the information that would be there would only be what you have provided. If you've never registered your product online then there won't be any registration information. Apple provides serial or registration numbers with some software products that are needed to activate the software, but Apple does not maintain information on the activation. It's up to you to keep your serial/registration numbers for your software that requires it. Without the registration number you can install iWork but you cannot activate it for other than its 30 day trial period. You will need to contact AppleCare to see if it's possible to resolve the problem if you are not able to locate your serial number. You don't really need to product code for anything.

Registering iLife '80 on Apple web site

I'm trying to register iLife '08 Family Pack on the Apple web site. During the last step is required the code of the product... while in iWork '08 there is a card in the package with the serial number, for iLife I didn't find any serial.
I tryied to insert a number under the bar code outside the package but apple web site do not accept it.
Any idea where I can find the code?

There should be a number on the sticker the bar code is on similar to Mxxxxx/x. It worked for mine.

How to register iLife?

So I got a the new 11" Air with iLife '11 on it. Launched Garageband and noticed "register garageband" in the drop down menu. Clicked on it, and it took me to the Apple site to register my software. The problem arises immediately, because it wants the softwares MPN, which it states for software is located on the package...uh...yeah...Macbook Air...no software package.... anyone got any clues how we can register iLife '11 that came on the Air?

Well to be honest I don't think you really need to register it (it doesn't need it to continue running). I would imagine that registering the MBA effectively registers the software since it can with it. I think the registration is really only for the separate boxed software.

Cannot register iLife '06

I hate to have to ask a question after one has been resolved only recently but this problem arose out of solving the last. I'm really frustrated. I thought that things were supposed to get easier!!
I bought iLife '06 six months ago while visiting NY. I upgraded my product and cannot recall whether i registered the product or not. Yesterday I had to reinstall the OS. when trying to open iPhoto today it asked me to reinstall with the CD. I did. And then I was asked to register the product while waiting so I headed off to the website. Now I'm being asked for a Marketing number. I dont know where that is. There is some explanation of looking up something using system profiler. but nothing like they say is listed under my hardware profile. And the box it came in has been thrown long ago.
Really irritated that I cant register the product or even see a list of all the products taht I have registered with apple.
Any suggestions.

Ujwala: I'm not aware of any way you can find out whether or not you've registered iLife, and I suppose one could choose to be annoyed about that. On the other hand, I don't know of any reason in the world why it should ever matter whether you have or haven't registered, or whether you ever do. You'll never be asked for a serial number or any other number for any other reason than to register, and there are no significant benefits to be gained by registering. If registration serves anyone, it probably serves Apple, in the sense of providing some limited amount of demographic data about iLife's users.
As long as you have the iLife applications (or some of them) installed, incremental updates to all of them are freely downloadable and require no serial number, and major upgrades aren't free and require you to buy a new iLife version on a new disc or discs. Help for any problems you encounter is available in the online help files and here in the Discussions. Registering doesn't change any of that. All you need to do is take care of your iLife installer discs so you can reinstall again if you ever need to.
I strongly suggest that you forget all about registering iLife and just get on with using and enjoying it.

How do you register iLife software that came preloaded on an iMac (I cannot seem to locate the Marketing Part Number) on the DVD?

I just purchased an iMac with iLife and iWork preloaded.
I wanted to register the software, but I cannot seem to locate the Marketing Part Number (MPN). Help states the MPN is located on the product packaging near the barcode. I can locate the barcode on the sleeve of the disc, but the MPN does not seem to be there. Help states it starts with a letter and has the format M#####/#. I have tried to enter each set of numbers shown, but all are invalid.

You registered it when you registered the computer. Apple software bundled with a Mac can't be registered separately from it; that service is for standalone purchases only.

How do I register iLife apps when it was preinstalled?

All my iLife apps are unregistered. I cannot register them because I don't have an MPN that I can find. I just bought a new MacBook Pro that had iLife '06 preinstalled. My computer is registered. I could not find any MPN for iLife in the documentation that came with the computer. I found the instructions that say you can find information in Apple System Profiler

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You really don't need to. The reg. number they ask for is the produce number on the box and it's only to get you one their list. It is not necessary at all.
But you do want to register all hardware and andy software that requires a serial number to activate.

Cannot register iLife 09

I have an early 2008 MacBook Pro that shipped with iLife 08. I just purchased iLife 09 and in order to register to get updates it says I have to enter a MPN number. The packaging for iLife 09 did not have any numbers or bar codes on it. It is a legally purchased copy only installed on my machine. Any ideas on how to register?

I saw on the Apple site that there is an update for Garageband. When I tried to download it and install, it said I do not have the proper version of Garageband (5.0.1) which I actually do

hello
i got ilife 08 'free' with my macprobook
it came in a plain white cd envelope along with the laptop. i installed all the ilifes and it asked me to register.
it asked for mpn info, or something like that, its not on i life install disk, its not on disc envelope. i dont recall any kind of outer i life envelope.
i went to system profiler to see if i cuud find mpn there, nope.
i wanna register my i life 08 so i can get updates and things, i assume i need to reg to get them?????
any one know how i find the mpn thiungy?
i woulda written this under i life categories, but there wasnt a general i life 08 thing

Actually, there is no real need to officially register any Apple product, nothing is gained by doing so.
Your updates will work fine, you will not be denied any due support, for hardware, firmware, or software.

Register iLife 09?

Hello. I have just recently installed iLife 09 on my Macbook. One of the menu items present in all iLife programs is "Register "the program"." I was wondering if I need to register my iLife 09 programs? What does this do? Can I use them without ever registering? Is there any need? I would appreciate any help I can get.

Not sure how I got this response, but what I am trying to find an answer to is this, my MacBook has stopped showing or even recognising my external card reader from my camera. I even bought a new reader (in case the original had malfunctioned) and still no icon nor is it recognised in Finder. I then tried my external memory drive and still no icon. Is there something I have done to stop the computer recognising external devices?

Registered iLife, but iWeb not working

I purchased iLife '06, and finally installed it on my MacBook Pro, which also had iWeb on it. When I open iWeb, everything is greyed out. I can't use it. Any ideas?
Even if I didn't install iLife, I'm not sure why my laptop came with iWeb if I couldn't use it.

So... you basically have iWeb and iLife '06 installed but you also bought iLife '06...
The installed iWeb isn't meant to be unusable it's meant to work but apparently a lot of people experience the same bug as you.
I usually recommend people to do the following:
Go to iPhoto, select some photos, go to Share and "Send to iWeb" (try both Blog and Photopages)
Many people report that going through this procedure 3-4 times awakens their iWeb...
I hope you have iPhoto installed and a few pictures in it...

How do I find the Marketing Part Number for iLife '11 so I can register the product

You don't need to register iLife. Registeing iLife would get your just emails from Apple regarding their products. It's not needed. Anyway, the iLife 11 boxed disc is now a discontinued and unsupported product.

Lost iLife 06 disks but have receipt

Can't launch GarageBand 3. Advice given is to re-install. Problem is, I can't find the original disk. I have my iLife 06 receipt from Apple Canada. Is there a way I can get the disc (better still, just download GarageBand 3) from Apple?

If you registered iLife when you bought it, Apple might send you replacement discs for a smaller fee than buying it all over again.
Even if you found a download somewhere, I wouldn't use it. That's how illegitimate, incomplete versions of GB and other software proliferates in the first place. Besides, iLife '07 will be out soon enough and you'll have to pay the full $79 to get it. I wonder what will be new. GB4 with some nice features added, I'm hoping.

Call Apple Customer Relations (800) 767-2775. Wait for a human to come on the line and ask politely and firmly that you want to be transferred over to the Customer Relations department. This way you can register over the phone without all the hassle.

Did you purchase the Mac new? Or did you install Mountain Lion and do a clean install?
iPhoto and iMovie and Garage Band do not come with OS X. However, they do come with a new Mac. The first time you set up a new Mac and launch the App Store you will be prompted to enter your Apple ID and "register" iLife to it. This lets you re-download them on any Macs you own.
However if you do a clean install of OS X they're not installed, you'd need to go to the App Store and re-download them.
If you purchased a Mac used, the original owner registered them and you don't have rights to them. You'd need to purchase them on your own.

What are the exact spefications of your computer?
Also did you computer come with 10.6 ot 10.5?.
You may try entering the MPN (marketing part number) Format: M*****/**
The MPN can be found on the product packaging or the System Profiler.
