Re: Removing BIOS password on Tecra A8

Greetings,
It was recently purchased two secondhand laptops Toshiba Tecra A8with serial numbers Y6091612H and Y6091296H. Both were passworded (there is no opportunity even to go into the BIOS). On the Internet I found the information that it may reset the password using the response code.
Is it possible to get the response code?

Im afraid as*** is right.
As far as I know Toshiba uses several methods for BIOS password removal and one of them is based on entering response code.
With other words Toshiba service provider sends unique code to Toshiba and after short period of time ASP receives response code that can unlock certain notebook.
With other words: notebook owner cannot do this on its own. It can be done by Toshiba service only.
Contact nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help. Addresses and phone numbers you can find on http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/generic/ASP_SUPPORT/
Bye and good luck.

I cleared BIOS password in Toshiba Satellite 3000-504 to upgrade BIOS on this computer. So I entered BIOS > entered old password > enterd twice new blank password (2 x enter) and after this I reset computer.

Any suggestions what was happened and what can I do right now?

  • Re: Remove BIOS Password Stellite A210-158

    Hello.
    I have a Toshiba Satellite A210-158.
I gave him (unintentionally, of course) a BIOS password and do not know how to remove it. I was told to take his lithium battery in him, but I've disarmed and can not find it. Does anyone know how? In advance, thank you very much.

You should use the forum search!!!
There are a lot of threads about this and its always the same on every notebook. If you have forgotten your BIOS password you need help from an authorized service provider because the whole ROM module must be erased to delete the password. There is nothing what you can do in this case
By the way, on the Toshiba website you can find a list of service providers :)

  • How to remove BIOS password on Elitebook 8770w?

Hello!I want to update BIOS on my Elitebook 8770w . However, the computer was locked withadministration password for BIOS and i could not remember this password. So can someone please help me to remove this password or anyway to update BIOS without it?

Dear Customer, Welcome to HP Support Forum and we are glad to assist you. This is to inform you that all HP Business Notebooks such as Probooks or Elitebooks have more stringent security than consumer models infact they don't produce 'halt codes', the password cannot be derived from the Serial Number and the code is stored in non-volatile memory so removing the RTC cell will not reset the password in this case. Please have a look at this link. http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/49497-HP-Probook-Elitebook-BIOS-Password-Reset-Utility  Please Contact HP Business Notebook support they should be able to send you a customized SMC.bin file which you can use at boot to reset the password.  Hope this helps, for any further queries reply to the post and feel free to join us again

i can remove the HDD and install windows on another PC and continue install on the notebook , but still i need that password reset...
    Thanks in advance !!

You cannot expect that we here, on Toshiba user forum, discuss ahow to remove BIOS protection.

  • Satellite M - How to remove the BIOS password?

    Hello.
I forgot my BIOS password. I tried doing everything from introducing some default passwords like 'toshiba' 'phoenix' holding the left shift key while booting to disassembling my laptop and finding my BIOS battery to remove it.
The problem is that my battery is glued on my motherboard and I don't know what to do. I heard that there should be some jumpers near the battery that could help me but I cannont find them.
I am desperated ....what can I do?
    please help me
    thank you.

Default password doesnt exist and there is no magic default password that can remove existing one. Removing BIOS battery will not help at all. On notebooks it will not work so forget it.
BIOS password can be removed by ASP only so contact nearest ASP and they will help you.
Theory with jumper is also not correct because BIOS removal procedure is not the same for every notebook model.
Sorry but ASP is your only way to remove BIOS password.

  • Equium L10-300 - Question about BIOS password

Hey all hope you can help a new user please.
Had a customer bring in an Equium L10-300 notebook. Somehow a password has been put on the BIOS and the boot up so I cannot do anything with it. I cannot boot from a CD and Ive tried a USB floppy, it looks at the floppy once and then just carries on to the password area. I was going to attempt a BIOS flash you see.
Im guessing maybe taking the bios battery out might help? But not sure where it is or how to get to it. Any links to manuals etc would be nice. Ive read that some newer Toshibas have special security chips now that hold the passwords etc.
Any help would be great thanks, really need to get this fixed.
    Mark

    Hello Mark
If you have customer I presume you work for one authorized service. The fact is that every authorized service has exact description how to remove BIOS password on each notebook model.
So if you are trying to remove BIOS password I cannot imagine you work for some baker. So much about your job.
Other important thing is that BIOS removal procedure is kind of top secret information and cannot be theme for public discussion. This information cannot be posted here. This will be great help for all people who try to enter stolen notebooks. Do you agree with me?
If your customer needs professional help send him to nearest Toshiba authorized service provider. They will know how to remove BIOS password.

  • BIOS password removal on Tecra M11-11M

I have a Toshiba Tecra M11-11M which has been password locked. I have stripped the notebook and removed the BIOS battery for 10 min but the password still remains ie on the screen it still reads PASSWORD- ****.
There is no way to enter the BIOS via any key combination.
There are no markings or letters on the motherboard whatsoever ie: C35-C36 or J12-J13 to short out which would in most cases remove the password and allow access to the BIOS.
Any techies out there with any ideas would be much appreciated.
Some people asking for help with a bios password are not thieves but just forgetful fools.

As far as I know Toshiba uses several methods for BIOS password removal. On business machines like Tecra or Portege the method is not the same as on Satellite models.
BIOS battery removal maybe works on desktops but not on mobile machines.
Mobile machines must have better protection due to fact that can be pretty easy stolen and it is very important to prevent fraudulent use.
    > Some people asking for help with a bios password are not thieves but just forgetful fools.
Thats correct but you cannot expect that BIOS password removal method will be described on public forum. Contact nearest Toshiba service provider and they will do this for you. All you must do is to show valid bill and prove that you are real owner of this Tecra machine.

  • Tecra A4: Bios passwords rejected: keyboard layout trouble?

Before traveling I have decided to protect my professional laptop (Tecra A4) with both a Bios password and a harddrive password.
I went into the Bios, entered the main password, went on page 2, enter the disk password, rebooted, got prompted for the password, type it... rejected. Tried 3 times and the laptop stoped.
What is going on here? I *know* the password I typed, plus I typed it twice in the Bios screen, so I am *sure* of what I typed.
Sooo I am suspected a keyboard layout issue, as I have an Azerty layout.
Is it possible that when in the Bios admin the layout is one way and in the initial password screen, another way? I have used "a" and "m", letters that move between Qwerty and Azerty.
Of course I have tried typing my password with "q" instead of "a" and ";" instead of "m", but to no avail.
I am locked. This is driving me nuts.
    Any help welcome,
    David

He can downgrade the BIOS or remove the BIOS password.
