Re: Restoring deleted files/restoring originals

Hi! I was wondering if anyone could help me with restoring deleted files. I think I have someway or another managed to delete my original photos from iPhoto. Is there any way that I am able to restore these deleted files? If I haven't deleted them (who knows!) how do I restore my files to the original, as a lot of my photos in iPhoto are not opening. Also, I have 'lost' an iDVD project that I know that I have not deleted, but I cannot seem to find it anywhere.
Thanks, Fiona

Hi fiona,
what did you do that you think you might have deleted photos?
Did you rename any photos in the iPhoto Library folder in the Finder?
navigate to Pictures/iPhoto Library and go through the Year/Month/day folders and see if your photos are there. Take a look at the screenshot so you know where to look.
This is a view of how the iPhoto Library looks in the Finder.
It is organized by Year folders. Inside the Year folders are Month folders. Inside the Month folders are the days of the Month. Inside the day folders are the photos you took on that day. If you imported video clips and RAW files on that day they will be in an Originals folder. If you have edited any photo imported on that day, the original will be in that folder also.

  • Is there any way to restore deleted files?

Hi. I have not installed time machine on my Mac Pro and accidentally deleted a lot of picture files, included emptied the trash can. Is there anything I can do to restore the files?

Try using an application such as Data Rescue or FileSalvage. Don't write anything else to the drive until the files are recovered or you choose not to recover them.

  • How do I restore deleted file in numbers

Deleted file from ipad by accident, anyway to bring it back easily? Have not synced with itunes yet.

try the menu item "Edit > Undo ...":
If you have peformed too many actions since you deleted the file, then try restoring from a Time Machine Back up.  After that consider the menu item "File > Revert To...":
If you do not have a Time Machine back up YOU SHOULD GET ONE SET UP!
I have been very thankful more than once for having a good backup.

  • How can I restore deleted file attachments from further back than the history tool will let me go?

I have a open form that collects registration information from customers, including documents and images that they can upload using file attachment fields.  Back on 2/24 I inadvertently deleted the several hundree responses that the form had collected up until that point.  Using the history tool, I accessed older, intact versions of the form, selected the deleted rows, and copy/pasted them back into the latest verskon of the document.  It seemed to work fine, but I didn't look closely enough to see that the attachments had been lost.  The file referenvces were still there, but they had little red exclamation marks next to them and couldn't be opened.
A couple week later, I discovered this and tried to go back into the form's hsitory again until before that accident on 2/24.  However, I can no longer go back in time that far.  The system only seems to let me go back around 10 days.
We need to recover the lost file attachmentrs.  Is there  a self-service way for me to restore my form back to 2/24, including file attachments?  If not, could an Adobe supprrt technician hele me to do that?
    Thank you

lol, nevermind. I came across an article that made it easy. For anyone else with this problem it's real simple.
    Open itunes
    File>Add Folder to Library
select 'itunes' and it will add your music to your library
Although it went through all my apps asking if I want to replace or don't replace with newer, when it finished all my music appeared in itunes just like I left it before reinstalling Win 7. Easy Peasy. I've seen others with same problem but nobody seemed to have this easy solution.
Now I can finally plug in my iphone and sync without losing all my music from my iphone.

  • Howto restore deleted files/photos from aperture (backup =time machine)

Hi there, I'm following up on a thread I posted under 'time-machine' discussion forum (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=12158758#12158758)
Problem: I incidentally deleted some photos that shouldn't have been deleted. I'm using 'time-machine' and wonder how can I restore those images?
As I recall, there is one file (as in database) for aperture that store all photos init. Is there a 'trick' to get yesterday's file and resurrect the lost photos?
    Thanks for any pointers.

are the files in the Aperture trash?
Do you use the vault feature of Aperture or just Time Machine?
If you only use Time Machine the files will be in there, get back to us on the first couple and if it is only Time Machine some one here can step you through how to retrieve the files.

  • Restore deleted files from time capsule. how???

    Hi all,
by mistake I deleted some important files in Time Capsule. Does it exist the way how to restore it?

You cannot restore files without direct access to the disk and a disk restore utility. That means opening the TC.. removing the hard disk and connecting it directly to a computer.

  • N96 8GB - Restoring deleted files

I have a N96 8GB and its had all its contacts, videos and imags have been deleted.  I dont know if this was done via a master reset (if that exists) or if someone deleted the info bit by bit.
Is there anyway I can retrieve these files.
I've got a data cable and pc suite loaded on my laptop.
Thanks in advance for any comments posted.

    Hi,
did you make a memory backup before crash?
If you haven't got any memory backup, restoring of your private data seems to be impossible.
You can try to search your mass memory. Connect phone with pc in PC Suite mode, open Windows explorer and see folders on phone and mass memory. But if you have any pictures and videos in gallery, then probably all were erased.
It is a little bit strange, cause soft or hard reset shouldn't erase content of mass storage. Although you have all in phone memory.
You should buy a memory card and regulary do a memory backup on this card and via Nokia Content Copier (part of Nokia PC Suite).

  • Restoring deleted files

Studip me being tired deleted all my songs on my playlist... did the normal thing and looked in my trash can but not there. so I am guessing there is somewhere that I can go to restore my collection of music that took me alot of time and money to make.
If anyone knows please let me know... please
    Thank You,
    Theresa

If you deleted them from the hard drive and not just from the iTunes library, then they're gone and only a Windows file recovery tool would have a chance of recovering them. Look in your My Documents -> My Music -> iTunes -> iTunes Music folder, though, and see if the tracks are still there. If they are, you can just add them back into iTunes either by dragging them to the iTunes window or by using the Add To Library command under the File menu.
    Hope this helps.

  • Help restoring deleted files into iTunes

I was overzelaous in trying to delete about 3000 duplicate songs. I was advised by tech support to move all the titles that were listed in the "show duplicate songs" option in iTunes only to find out that I inadvertently deleted the original copy too! I tried to select them from my trash to drag and drop them into my iTunes library bbut that won't work. I can't re-import from my source files on my external drive because the master files are now in the trash. I thought about moving the trashed files into my external drive and re-importing from there but I assume the restored songs will then be un-grouped with the 'master" artist folders? Anyone have some suggestions?

Drag your files to the desk top - then once they are there you should be able to drop them back into the iTunes window. I tried to drag directly to iTunes from the trash and it would not work. I put the file on the desktop and then moved back into the iTunes window and that did work for me.

  • Can i restore deleted files

I work at a school and had taken some video with an ipod touch.  the ipod was stolen, but then recovered but the videos had been deleted.  is there a data recovery method I can use to get the videos restored.  they have not been overwritten yet, so I think it's possible to get them.  There are 27 kids who would love to get this video back to be able to make their movie.

Icloud backup at Settings>icloud>storage and backup
itunes at Edit or itunes then preferences>devices>white box shows backups. The box doesn't restore backups though. icloud is going to be only possibility if not imported.

  • Restoring deleted files from recycle bin

    Hi
I just stupidly cleared my recycle bin was wondering if there is any way of restoring them
    This question was solved.

The only way I know of is to use a third party tool to restore them.  I would suggest going to the following website and trying the Restoration Tool.

  • Itunes restore deleted icloud restore

    Hi,
I'm facing a bit of a problem here.
I had two separate backups, each containing different data, one using itunes and one using icloud.
Once I had my new iphone I restored using icloud first, faced no problem there. I then restored using itunes, you know to get the other data. this deleted the data from the first icloud restore.
I beleive I did this they wrong way, any way I can fix it?
Any way I can get the data from the icloud back again?
help would be very much appreciated!

Next time do backups on both (iCloud and iTunes) so that the data is the same.
Or not ... sometimes it is preferable to have a different backup in case something goes awry.  I do my daily backups through iTunes, but once a month (or more frequently) I will do an iCloud backup which can not only serve to rescue me if I need to restore while away from home, it can also get me back to a known state in case a corrupted state gets into my daily backup.
