Re: RLC
Hi frnds,
I designed RLC circuit using labview. Everything is working fine but still I couldn't see any waveform in the XY graph.
kindly help m to fix this issue.
For your reference i attach my RLC vi. please have a look and let me you if there is any correction

You forget to make 'RESET' false (which is by default TRUE).
Also there is direct function available for 'Square'... by mistake I mentioned it as 'Use SQUARE ROOT function'... just ignore it...
Also find attached edited VI.
I am not allergic to Kudos, in fact I love Kudos.

Hi,
It is a very basic series RLC circuit. (R=0.1 Ohm, L=10mH, C=100nF) which is excited by a sine wave voltage source (100mV peak, 5032 Hz).
AC analysis is in-line with hand calculations and shows a peak current of 1A at 5032.9 Hz. Once we do a transient analysis at this frequency, the current is way lower; instead if we change the frequency down to 4968 Hz, it gives the maximum current (appx. 1A). Note that all the components are ideal and both amplitudes of the voltage source set at 100mV. I must be missing something very basic.
The attached file shows it clearer.
Thanks,

Transient Analysis RLC circuit problem?
I am conducting a transient analysis of a series RLC circuit in multisim.
Using a 10VDC power supply, a switch, a 10 Henry inductor, a 10 Ohm resistor, and a 5 nF capacitor.
My calculations show that ILmax is 223uA at 700uS.
When I perform the transient analysis I am having the following problems:
If I choose "Automatically determine input conditions" then IL peaks at 700uS, but it peaks at 35pA instead of 223uA?
If I choose "User defined" as the initial condition then IL peaks at 223uA, but it occurs at 250uS instead of 700uS?
What am I doing wrong here?
I should be getting 223uA at 700uS???

How did you calculate ILmax (time and current)? What's your Multisim version?

tested multisim for Parallel RLC Circuit with voltage source as in
http://www.electronics-tutorials.ws/accircuits/parallel-circuit.html
But the current flows through the inductance L has DC component as in the picture attached (the red sine wave). Is it a bug ?, please tell me how to correct it.

phasor.jpg 183 KBHi there,
As strange as this may sound, this is not a bug. OK, this sounds really funny, but I am totally serious, and I am going to explain why:
In a circuit energy must be conserved.
An inductor is a purely reactive component, that is, it does not dissipate any power.
When simulation starts, Multisim assumes the inductor current to be 0, which may seem reasonable. The voltage across the inductor is also 0 at this point. This is the initial condition.
The voltage across the inductor increases, and thus, the current increases. The current keeps increasing during the first 2 quadrants of the sinusoidal phase output.
The current never decreases until the voltage drop is negative.
But by the time an entire cycle is over, the current is back to 0. This makes sense as energy is conserved and the inductor is not absorbing any energy.
OK. Now look at what happened. During the whole cycle, the current was positive only! The current increased during the first half of the cycle and returned to 0 during the second half. This is because of the fluke of initial conditions! In fact, a good circuit simulator will maintain the DC offset for a long duration. The DC offset may drift because of rounding errors and the like.
This will never be observed in real life as real inductors have winding resistance and other problems.
OK, so, if you would like to see no DC offset, do the following:
Run your simulation
Record the DC offset that you want to eliminate
Stop your simulation
Double click the offending inductor in the Multisim schematic
Click on the Value tab
Check the Initial conditions box under Additional SPICE simulation parameters
Enter the negative of the DC offset that you recorded in step 2 into the box right next to it
Start your simulation. Did your offset go away? Or did it double?
If your offset doubled, take away the sign from the DC offset that you entered in step 7. I bet you know why.
It took me a while to figure this one out. Hope that helps!

Hi All,
I have a problem to see the details of the transaction data deleted when i run this program in background.
in Foreground i can see the details however the unable to see the details after running this in background mode.
any thing i need to set or check.
-ShriHi Shridhar,
In the RLC delete screen, if you press Ctrl + F1, it will show the detailed log of the transactional data deleted.
Hope this will solve your query.
Please confirm.

Calculate Impedance, Power Factor & Type Of Power In RLC Circuit
Good Evening
No suprises to what im looking to investigate today.
I have a initial circuit which contains a AC supply, Resistor and Inductor only, I must calculate the impedance, supply current, power factor & angle, and type of power that is consumed in the circuit.
I must then create a modified circuit in which i must improve the power factor to 0.95 and specify the value of capacitance required!
I must then calculate the impedance, supply current, power factor & angle and the type of power consumed in the circuit.
I have never really used multisim before, just want to make sure my calculations are correct as the values I have been given to work with are producing tedious amounts of impedance. My XL=24kOhm
I have tried to use the impedometer but not quiet sure how to wire it correctly. Same goes for the watt meter not sure how to wire the terminals for V and I.
Appreciate any help and advice I have provided some images of my initial circuit I have not specified the value of C as im not sure what it must be to give me a PF of 0.95.
Regards
Ps pardon the amatuer mistake forgot to add a ground (fool)

Similarly, you can add Expression to Calculate the Power Factor or other circuit parameters.
Hope this helps!

## ServerRoot: The top of the directory tree under which the server's

## you will save yourself a lot of trouble.
## Do NOT add a slash at the end of the directory path.
ServerRoot "/usr"
## PidFile: The file in which the server should record its process

PidFile /var/run/httpd.pid
## ScoreBoardFile: File used to store internal server process information.
## Not all architectures require this. But if yours does (you'll know because
## this file will be created when you run Apache) then you must ensure that
## no two invocations of Apache share the same scoreboard file.
#ScoreBoardFile "/var/run/apache2runtimestatus"
## Server-pool size regulation. Rather than making you guess how many
## server processes you need, Apache dynamically adapts to the load it
## sees --- that is, it tries to maintain enough server processes to
## handle the current load, plus a few spare servers to handle transient
## load spikes (e.g., multiple simultaneous requests from a single
## Netscape browser).
## It does this by periodically checking how many servers are waiting
## for a request. If there are fewer than MinSpareServers, it creates

MinSpareServers 1

StartServers 1
## MaxRequestsPerChild: the number of requests each child process is
## allowed to process before the child dies. The child will exit so
## as to avoid problems after prolonged use when Apache (and maybe the
## libraries it uses) leak memory or other resources. On most systems, this
## isn't really needed, but a few (such as Solaris) do have notable leaks
## in the libraries. For these platforms, set to something like 10000
## or so; a setting of 0 means unlimited.
## NOTE: This value does not include keepalive requests after the initial
## request per connection. For example, if a child process handles
## an initial request and 10 subsequent "keptalive" requests, it
## would only count as 1 request towards this limit.
MaxRequestsPerChild 100000
## Dynamic Shared Object (DSO) Support
## To be able to use the functionality of a module which was built as a DSO you

# Settings for hosting different languages.
# Required modules: mod_mime, mod_negotiation
# DefaultLanguage and AddLanguage allows you to specify the language of
# a document. You can then use content negotiation to give a browser a
# file in a language the user can understand.
# Specify a default language. This means that all data
# going out without a specific language tag (see below) will
# be marked with this one. You probably do NOT want to set
# this unless you are sure it is correct for all cases.
# * It is generally better to not mark a page as
# * being a certain language than marking it with the wrong
# * language!
# DefaultLanguage nl
# Note 1: The suffix does not have to be the same as the language
# keyword --- those with documents in Polish (whose net-standard
# language code is pl) may wish to use "AddLanguage pl .po" to
# avoid the ambiguity with the common suffix for perl scripts.
# Note 2: The example entries below illustrate that in some cases
# the two character 'Language' abbreviation is not identical to
# the two character 'Country' code for its country,
# E.g. 'Danmark/dk' versus 'Danish/da'.
# Note 3: In the case of 'ltz' we violate the RFC by using a three char
# specifier. There is 'work in progress' to fix this and get
# the reference data for rfc1766 cleaned up.
# Catalan (ca) - Croatian (hr) - Czech (cs) - Danish (da) - Dutch (nl)

========HTTPD.CONF==========I am modifying the correct httpd.conf file on the server, it just doesn't seem to work. - If I put the rewrite rules in the <Directory /> the rewrite works but it adds /Library/WebServer/Documents to the URL.
I also tried putting the rewrite rules in <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> but that did not work either.
mod_rewrite is enabled and running on the server.
I will post the rewrite rules again in the code brackets. Sorry for the long post. - If some one can try them out on their Leopard Server to see if they can get them to work, it would be much appreciated. Again, these work on my Leopard Client but I can't get them to work on Server.
-- The httpd.conf file posted above is just the default conf file found in /private/etc/apache2/

Performance of query in report..
Hi All,
We have the below SQL which is taking 6-8 hrs to execute. Of which 'analysis_results_details' is huge table with 329 million records, its "IOT - TOP" [index oraganised] table.
Can you please suggest some idea how to improve the performance of the query... Apologies if the format is correct tried my best
DB details :- 10g (10.1.0.5.0) - 64 bit.

I have checked query and it doesnt change much... execution time is same.
Hi Charles,
I have tried using the hint /*+ GATHER_PLAN_STATISTICS */ as below, the query is still executing. Its taking more than 4 hrs... Is there any other way i can get these..
set serveroutput off

How to measure the phase shift using AC analysis?
Hi,
I have a simple RLC circuit consisting of no more than 4 components. If i hook up the network analyser function to the circuit and read the S11 values, i can see a change in the input impedance and a phase shift when i run it across a range of frequencies.
I am trying to do the same with the AC analysis tool. I've placed a probe on the positive input line. Using the AC analysis i've obtained the input impedance by using the expression mag(V(Probe1))/mag(I(Probe1)). Everything looks fine but i just can't seem to obtain the correct expression to gain the phase shift. All of the values i get out seem to flat line.
It would be great help if someone could point me in the right direction, as i'm running out of ideas.
Thanks for the help.

You need to measure the voltage phase difference over a load as the voltage source is ideal so will always be in phase.

Switchover problem after upgrade from 11.2.0.1 to 11.2.0.2
Hello
I succesfull upgraded my database from 11.2.0.1 to 11.2.0.2 on my test enviroment.
My enviroment works with dataguard configuration.
Data Guard management is dgmgrl.
OS is Linux Redhat x86_64
I have problem with switchover operation:
During switchover operation (with dgmgrl) new primary database is switched succesfull but problem is with new standby database, I have message:

ORA-01194: datafile 1, needs more recovery to be consistent
ORA-01110: datafile 1: '/u01/app/oracle/oradata/DB1/system01.dbf'
To end switchover operation I should start new standby instance. But if i try startup It i have:
ORA-00845: MEMORY_TARGET not supported on this system
In alert log new standby database I have:

I am trying to drop and recreate ONLINE redo logs on my STANDB DATABASE (11.1.0.7)., but i am getting the below error.
On primary, we have done the changes., ie we added new logfile with bigger size and 3 members. When trying to do the same on Standby we are getting this error.
Our database is in Active DG Read only mode and the oracle version is 11.1.0.7.
I have deffered the log apply and cancelled the managed recovery, and dg is in manual mode.

On standby only standby redo log files will be used. Not sure what you are trying to do.
here is example how to create online redo log files, Check that diskgroup is mounted and have sufficient space to create.

My Active dataguard is not applying archives.
Dears,
Following is my setup
=====================
Primary:
prod on RAC with 2 nodes
Database : Oracle 11.2.0.3
OS OEL 5.7
storage : ASM
+DATADG
+FLASHDG
Standby:
sync on single node
Database : Oracle 11.2.0.3
storage : ASM
+DATADG
+FLASHDG
I've configured Active dataguard successfully and was able to apply archivelogs successfully instantly.
Archive log locations are +FLASHDG/prod/ARCHIVELOG/ AND /u02/arch --- on primary
Archive log locations are +FLASHDG/stby/ARCHIVELOG/ AND /u02/arch --- on standby
On Standby

Upto now everything is ok, means same data is sync on primary and standby. As my archive location was getting full, i've used this SQL query to clean them
SELECT 'alter diskgroup '||dg.name||' drop file
''+'||dg.name||''||SYS_CONNECT_BY_PATH(al.name,'/')||''';'
FROM v$asm_alias al, v$asm_file fi, v$asm_diskgroup dg
WHERE al.file_number = fi.file_number(+)
AND al.group_number = dg.group_number
AND fi.type = 'ARCHIVELOG'
START WITH alias_index = 0
CONNECT BY PRIOR al.reference_index = al.parent_index;
SELECT 'alter diskgroup '||dg.name||' drop file
''+'||dg.name||''||SYS_CONNECT_BY_PATH(al.name,'/')||''';'
FROM v$asm_alias al, v$asm_file fi, v$asm_diskgroup dg
WHERE al.file_number = fi.file_number(+)
AND al.group_number = dg.group_number
AND fi.type = 'BACKUPSET'
START WITH alias_index = 0
CONNECT BY PRIOR al.reference_index = al.parent_index;
In order to delete ARCHIVE logs which are stored in ASM FLASHDG, which will have a type of "ARCHIVELOG" and "BACKUPSET" i've used this above two queries.
After performing this steps , my Active dataguard is not applying archives.
On the primary server, check the latest archived redo log
SELECT sequence#, first_time, next_time
FROM v$archived_log
ORDER BY sequence#;

Help to troubleshoot a 3G connection.
Hello!
I need help to troubleshoot a 3G connection.
It's a CISCO2921/K9 with UC license and a 3G Interface.
I used the manual to make the configuration, step by step, I can send and receive SMS by 3G network, and connect, take a IP, DNS etc, but I don't able to ping or send and receive data with the 3G connection.
See the information:

Why can't I edit the Master Database
Can someone from NI please explain the reasoning behind not letting the user edit the master database? I want to do something simple like remove one of the redundant + and "dot" polarity indicators on some of the capacitor footprints without having to, one by one, change each capacitor to use my custom footprint.
I have found several errors in the master database yet I can't fix those parts or footprints or remove them, thus increasing the likely hood that they will get used by mistake/unknowingly again.
The only explanation that I can come up with is poor database design and fear of me "breaking" it. Something as simple as editing a part through the GUI should be simple enough to do to, please let me. No offense, but your master database is not good enough to warrant "no edits". Most parts I use are from the local database, but that is not an option for special case parts like resistors and capacitors.
Also, why I can't edit the database itself without using the GUI? (as is an option in all other CAD packages that I've used). The GUI entry point is extremely time consuming and error prone when a database script can often easily create error/typo free part numbers using existing symbols and footprints.
GregThere are several ways you can achieve the results you looking for with respect to RLCs.
Ultiboard first searchs the User then Corporate the Master database when looking for footprints. So, if you want to make a modification to a footprint, make the copy the appropriate in Ultiboard into your User database. Then modify the footprint. When you transfer from Multisim to Ultiboard, Ultiboard will pick the footprint you customized (or fixed).
One thing to watch out for is determining the correct name in Ultiboard. The name in Multisim is often not the name in Ultiboard. I don't know of any simple way of determing the mapping.
Place the component with the footprint that you want to change (in Multisim)
Double click the component, and click Edit Footprint on the Value page
Click Select from Database. The footprint should be selected. The name in Ultiboard is the Ultiboard Footprint column (if it is blank, then the name in Multisim and Ultiboard is the same).
You can add new footprints to the list in the Place Component dialog. You do this in the Database Manager.
Go to Tools > Database > Database Manager
Select the RLC Components tab
Click the Add button to add a new definition. Note, the definition will appear for all components of the same type. Also watch out for the polarity of capacitors and other components where relevant.

I have a client that would like an e-commerce site for her
business. I've searched various e-commerce web building sites and
have found that the templates used are not sufficient nor
attractive for me or the client.
I like to do a lot of my web building using Dreamweaver 8,
Frontpage, and Publisher. I would prefer to use Dreamweaver 8 and I
have been searching tutorials, manuals, forums, etc. trying to find
an answer.
I'm not the "best" person when it comes to web designing, so
therefore I would prefer an almost Step-by-Step Guide that I can
read. Money is very scarce so going out and purchasing books or
software really isn't an option as well.
Can someone knowledgeable in this PLEASE, PLEASE help. I have
been working on this for a week now. I need an answer ASAP as the
site needs to be built and ready to be uploaded in 3 days.As time is of the essence, at this point, I would recommend
using a prebuilt
cart .. if there aren't too many products, you can use
something like the
PayPal shopping cart, which is free and there are
instructions on the paypal
site for getting started.
Also see if your host has a shopping cart included .. many
have a simple one
already included with your package.
