Re-Run the prepare
Once the prepare is done can we RE-RUN the prepare?
Regards,
Asim Khan.
Hi,
Although you can run prepare multiple times but there is some procedure to be followed when doing this,
when running prepare multiple times you cannot run some phases and skip some, there is some dependency between the phases of prepare
you have to run either all the phases again or a set of dependent phases
like
Import & Integrataion etc ...............
for more info on this refer to the upgrade guide and Help.sap.com
Thanks and Regards

Once the upgrade is done can we re-run the prepare
Hi,
Once the Upgrade Is done can we re-run the prepare.
Regards,
Asim Khan.This question was asked to my colleqe in an interview
Did he pass the interview or is he still waiting for the answer? ))
You could start the PREPARE after the upgrade, but it would be completely pointless - my guess is that it would fail immediately with a release check as you are already on the target release. Sounds like a trick question to me, intended to check someone's knowledge of the upgrade process..... -
How long is the "preparing" stage REALLY supposed to take on initial backup
Ok, I know that the initial back up takes a long time. I have read that on many occasions, but I have now left my TC and Laptop to bond for 16 hours now and it is still running the "preparing" stage. As some of you may know this is not the first problem I have had with the TC and the initial back up (please see http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1844195&tstart=0 if you are curious) and at least I have gotten to this "preparing" stage. Does anyone have any advice? I really do not want to start over as I am terribly afraid of going through the other problems again. I have read in some older posts to view the console log? Where can this be found? This is why I have not tried that yet. Thanks in advance for any replies!!
console app is found applications/utilities you can read the logs but you'll probably need a science degree in programming.
I just messed around with Time Machine in various ways:
MBP ethernet to TC preparing took less than 10 minutes less than 15 minutes using wireless N+B/G
less than 5 minutes using firewire 800 this is on a 188 gig backup -
Repeating the Preparation steps for unicode
Hi,
We are planning to convert our system to unicode soon and run the Preparation steps in the QAS system. But, if we run the Preparation steps and some of the objects are modified before the end of the Prepare,how much of it is needing to be re-done before the actual downtime? We are not advocating a freeze of transports on the system during the preparation. What steps may need to be redone and how much of the total effort would that be?Hi,
in case of a single code page system I do not see many problems here (compared e.g. to an Upgrade) .
For new customer objects, you should set the language flag.
Changes of tables should be treated with RADCUCNT right before the export (as stated in the Unicode conversion guide).
However if you have many changes and these were not included in your tests - then unexpected problems could occur.
This is the reason why SAP recommends to minimize changes during the conversion project.
To be more precise: Recommendation is to do a Sandbox conversion (copy of PRD system). The status of this SBX system should be as near as possible to the status of the PRD system right before the conversion.
Best regards,

An error occurred while preparing the installation. Try running the application again
I Have erased the hard drive of my MBP in order to perform a clean reinstall of OS X Mavericks, according to these instructions.
When I tried to reinstall, my internet connection stopped (was broadcasting via another MBP and the cable from that one got disconnected), so I restarted the erased MBP to try again. Holding command+R, it booted in internet recovery (as the recovery partition was erased along with the rest of the hard drive), but could not connect over the broadcasted WiFi, so I created a bootable USB flash drive according to these instructions on the other MBP.
This installation went smooth without any hiccups, but due to an oversight I had to do it again the next day.
I took the same steps, with the same bootable drive (I did not create a new one the first time) but this time I couldn’t get through the prepare to install phase. At the end, where the “about a second remaining” message stays for about 20 minutes, I get the “An error occurred while preparing the installation. Try running the application again” message. When I quit the installer (only option at that stage) and return to Disk Utility, the internal drive on which I tried to do the installation is not visible anymore.
I tried this (after a reboot every time) with a new bootable usb drive with the same download of the OS X Mavericks installer and with a new one, each ending with the same error. The installer was downloaded on an MBP on which Mavericks is also installed, with the same Apple ID. The App Store did not allow me to change Apple ID for the Mavericks download. Can this pose a problem? It did work the first time, though.
Note that this error occurs at a different stage than the one with the same message due to the wrong date (this discussion amongst others). I also checked the date in terminal and this appears to be correct, when I consider the timezone.
Here are a few lines from the installer log (omitted similar lines and lines that could contain personal information). The most important line is the last one, indicating the error.

Jun 22 02:45:55 localhost Install OS X Mavericks[423]: Got error in writing to /Volumes/schijf/OS X Install Data/minstallconfig.xml
That last line indicates the error that occurred. (The internal drive on which I try to install Mavericks is called “schijf”, it also already has been called Macintosh HD, with no effect. This time I tried another name during the reformat to see if and when the installer renames the disk. Does it do this, or should I call the disk “Macintosh HD” myself?)
By now I also got past the internet recovery issues, being able to get the progress bar under the spinning globe and the option to install Lion (not Mavericks, but I suppose that’s because the MBP shipped with Lion). When I choose this option, the installer first spends a few hours downloading additional components. This eventually took less time than first indicated, but still about 4-5 hours. After this, the installation of about 24 minutes starts, but this takes much longer than the indicated 24 minutes, each minute taking about 15 minutes. When it was less than a minute, the internet connection got disconnected (but I don’t suppose it still needed an internet connection at this stage, having downloaded all additional components) and now the “Less than a minute” message has been there the whole night (about 9,5 hours), the last 9 hours with a spinning beachball on the screen after I accidentally clicked somewhere on the screen (nowhere in particular, he shouldn’t do something because of the click. After unplugging the power adapter, the battery icon on the screen wasn’t updated, and the WiFi icon simply disappeared, instead of showing no bars like it should when there’s no connection).
Does Anyone know how I can fix the error, because I would prefer installing with a bootable drive. Is it worth it to continue waiting on the current, apparently stuck Lion installer to finish or should I force a reboot?
Can I try using the Recovery Disk assistant (OS X Recovery Disk Assistant v1.0) to create a recovery disk with the other MBP? I think not, as this might cause trouble with 2 different MBP's using the same license.
Thanks in advance!Since this thread seems to be gaining more speed than the other one i'm working on, i figured i'd add these images to help you all out detailing the exact problem.
I'm having the same issue and I wanted to provide some info specific to my mac, and some info in general to help with diganosis.
First, my specs
Secondly, I am running an aftermarket 500 GB drive.
Third, not sure if this is realated, but this screen suggests the proress will take 3 minutes, then it abruptly umps to the restart phase after about 1.5 - 2.5 minutes.
And finally, here is the seeminly unavoidable error message.
Also, other things I've tried now are
installing it from the "show package contents area",
mounting said DMG and trying to install from there.
installing a package file called "upgradeos.pkg"
no luck. -
I'll try to be as detailed as I can:
I have a mid-2010 iMac. I backed-up and then wiped my Mountain Lion hard drive so that I could have a clean install of Mavericks. I am now in the process of importing my backed-up files, like iTunes and documents, from my external back-up to my new Mavericks machine. Everything in this process has worked so far. I moved the iPhoto library over from the external back-up to the proper location (Users->Pictures->iPhoto Library). Two hours later when the transfer was complete, rather than having a normol iPhoto Library icon (stack of pictures with a photo of a flower), the library appeared as a folder with a half done progress bar and an "x" close button in the corner.
This library would not open so I deleted it and started the whole thing over. Two hours later, same thing. I then restarted my machine and got a regularl looking iPhoto Library icon, but now when I try to open it I get a prompt that says "To open your library with this version of iPhoto, it first nees to be prepared: to prepare the library, use the iPhoto Library Upgrader avaliable from Apple." I downloaded the iPhoto Library Upgrader from Apple, ran it, and it says that the library has been updated and can now be used. But when I try to open iPhoto, I hit the same problem, iPhoto doesn't open and I instead get a prompt saying that the library needs to be prepared.
One more thing, when I run the iPhoto Library Upgrader, there is a un-progressing progress bar (a sideways barber shop poll) that says the program is building thumbnails, but then Upgrader gives me a prompt that the library has been upgraded (even though the progress bar is still cranking along). PLEASE HELP.What version of iPhoto were you running prior to Mavericks? First boot into Revovery volume (boot with the Command + R keys held down) and repair the disk and disk permissions. Then reboot back into Mavericks.
Two hours later when the transfer was complete, rather than having a normol iPhoto Library icon (stack of pictures with a photo of a flower), the library appeared as a folder with a half done progress bar and an "x" close button in the corner.
There was a problem with copying the older iPhoto library from the backup. Delete the library and drag it once again from the backup drive to the Pictures folder. Run the upgrader again. Is this what you see when your first launch the upgrader?

My MacBook Air becomes unresponsive when logging in, and I decided to reinstall OS X Lion. When running the installer from OS X Recovery, it gave the error message "An error occurred while preparing the installation. Try running this application again."
Checking in the log revealed the following error:
Can not connect to /var/run/systemkeychaincheck.socket: No such file or directory
Error!! Error Domain=NSURLErrorDomain Code=-1202 "UNTRUSTED_CERT_TITLE" UserInfo=0x1086bec80 {NSLocalizedDescription=UNTRUSTED_CERT_TITLE, NSLocalizedFailureReason=UNTRUSTED
The rest of the line is cutted off. Does anyone know what went wrong and how to fix it ?
I encountered the same exact problem when I attempted to re-installed OSX Lion on an old laptop. The date was set back in 2000, which rendered the certificate obsolete. Here's how I fixed it:
From the recovery menu, select the Terminal application. Run the 'date' command to confirm the date is wrong, then set the correct date using this command: date {month}{day}{hour}{minute}{year}
e.g. date 1219195613
Exit terminal (type exit). Retry the installation.

I just purchased the latest iPhoto to update my 7.1.5.I have run the Library upgrade tool 2x, each saying installed successfully.But, each time I try to open iPhoto, I get the msg,"To open this version of iPhoto,the library needs to be prepared"OSX 10.9.3
each saying installed successfully
It looks like you installed the Library Upgrader, but did not run it. It is installed in "Applications > Utilities". Launch this tool and click the "Choose Library" button to direct it to your iPhoto library.

Hi Guys,
I have been trying to run the tutorial published by Steve Muench on October 9 2006. I've followed all the steps as specified in the tutorial.

Thanks Steven.
That makes sense. Is there anything I can do to make this demo work without de-installing 10.1.3.1 Preview? Or If I also install 10.1.3.0.4 with SU5 on another folder, does that affect my 10.1.3.1 Preview version?
I'm using 10.1.3.1 Preview version to learn Oracle's SOA suite.
Thanks again,
Magesh.
Getting error while running the Interface using AGENT
Hi All,
i am not able to run the interface using Agent service which running in the another machine, while running i am getting error message like

i ran the Agent services in Comment prompt, there i am getting the error like follows

at com.sunopsis.dwg.cmd.h.y(h.java)
at com.sunopsis.dwg.cmd.e.run(e.java)
at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)
here i have mentioned the steps which i followed for creating agent service.
i have two machine namely A and B both having the ODI
i am going to use the B machine as a centralized server. so i edited the odiparams.bat file in B machine in ODI locaiton and filled the repository information
from A machine i opened the Topology and created the Agent service there i mentioned the HOST name as "B" and port number 20300. and i configure the logical agent aswell
from B machine i started the Agent service like agentscheduler "-port=20300".
Agent service launched seccessfully.
From A machine i tested the Agent. that also shown the successful window message.
then i started running the interface using the agent i am getting the error which i have mention in the beginging.
Interface which i ran will do the text file to table loading, so i kept that file in particular location in B machine( i have configure this location when i created the file data store in topology in A machine).
Please help me to solve the problem...
thanks

Thanks For your Reply,
I ran the agent as you said. here is my observation
from the Machine B where agent is actually running, i could able to run the interface using agent service.
but from the machine A while running the interface i am getting the following error message

Running the alv report in background and sending it thro email
hi,
i have to run the alv report in background and send the output through email
Hi
Many a times there is a requirement to display ALV Grid (not ALV List) in the background Job. I have checked the SDN Forum for the same and it has been mentioned that ALV Grid cannot be displayed in Background, but the list output of ALV is possible. So user wont have the actual Grid interface but the List interface.
There is a workaround to display ALV Grid in Background Job. The only restriction is you cant schedule the job through SM36. You need to execute the transaction of the report program, fill in the selection screen data and hit Execute.
The job would be executed in background. User will be able to see the Job Log and Job Status after executing the program. User doesnt have to go to SM37 to view the job status/log. Once the Job Status is changed to COMPLETED, user can click on DISPLAY SPOOL to view the ALV Grid.
Limitations:
Cant schedulea background job
The session should be active until the background job is completed. If the session is closed, then user wont be able to check the output in ALV Grid. User would be able to check the output through spool or SM37
Advantages:
If the spool width is greater than 255 characters, then the entire width could be seen in the output because the output is directed to an ALV Grid and not to spool
Interface of ALV Grid is available instead of ALV List even though its a background job.
Program wont give the TIME OUT error
Steps Required:
1. Once you execute the program, the following screen would be displayed
2. Click Display Job Status to check the Status of the Background Job
3. Click on Display the Job Log to check the Log
4. Click on Display Job Status to check the Job Status
5. Click on DISPLAY SPOOL to check the spool content once the Job Status is changed to COMPLETED. Output is displayed in ALV Grid
Programs:
1. Two different programs needs to be created
ZPROGRAM_ONE: This is the 1st program, where the selection screen and all the data validations would be done. Error handling for invalid data should be done in this program.
Once the data validation is done, this program would call the 2nd program ZPROGEAM_TWO. Build the logic to display ALV Grid in this program. The logic will only display ALV in foreground and it wont be reflected in the spool.
ZPROGRAM_TWO: This program would fetch all the data and do all the processing. If you want the spool output along with ALV Grid output, then build the logic in this program to display ALV Grid.

Invalid cursor state error while executing the prepared statement
hai friends,
following code showing the invalid cursor state error while executing the second prepared statement.
pls anyone help me
String query = "select * from order_particulars where order_no=" + orderno + " order by sno"; psmt1 = conEntry.prepareStatement(query, ResultSet.TYPE_SCROLL_INSENSITIVE, ResultSet.CONCUR_READ_ONLY); rs1 = psmt1.executeQuery(); rs1.last(); intRowCount = rs1.getRow(); particularsdata = new Object[intRowCount][6]; rs1.beforeFirst(); if (intRowCount >= 1) { for (int i = 0; rs1.next(); i++) { particularsdata[0] = i + 1;
particularsdata[i][1] = rs1.getString(3);
particularsdata[i][2] = Double.parseDouble(rs1.getString(4));
rs1.close();
psmt1.close();
query = "SELECT sum(delqty) FROM billdetails,billparticulars WHERE order_no= " + orderno + " and " +
"billdetails.bill_no = billparticulars.bill_no GROUP BY particulars ORDER BY sno";
psmt1 = conEntry.prepareStatement(query, ResultSet.TYPE_SCROLL_INSENSITIVE, ResultSet.CONCUR_READ_ONLY);
rs1 = psmt1.executeQuery(); //error showing while executing this line
Also .. Why using arrays instead of collections? Shifting the cursor all the way forth and back to get the count is fairly terrible.
With regard to the problem: either there's a nasty bug in the JDBC driver used, or you actually aren't running the compiled class version of the posted code.
My application doesn't start when I run the domain as windows service
I am using weblogic 10.3.2 and i created a domain called rec_domain and i have AdminServer
also i deployed application called myApplication to the rec_domain
then i created windows service to run the server as a windows service
The Script for Setting Up a Server as a Windows Service:
echo off
SETLOCAL
set DOMAIN_NAME=rec_domain
set USERDOMAIN_HOME=C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\rec_domain
set SERVER_NAME=AdminServer
set WLS_USER=usernmae
set WLS_PW=password
set PRODUCTION_MODE=true
set JAVA_VM=-jrockit
set JAVA_VENDOR=BEA
set JAVA_HOME=C:\Oracle\Middleware\jrockit_160_05
set MEM_ARGS=-Xms40m -Xmx250m
call "C:\Oracle\Middleware\wlserver_10.3\server\bin\installSvc.cmd"
ENDLOCAL
the service was created successfully and when i restart the computer it runs the adminserver successfully
but it doesn't start myApplication_
does anyone know where is the problem?
Edited by: Wael Ibrahim on 28/12/2009 05:48 ص
Hi Wael,
Can you please specify, What do u mean by Application Doesn't start? Is it Moving to PREPARED State Rather than ACTIVE state? Or the Application Health is not OK? Are you seeing any Warning or Error Message while starting the Server related to Deployment?
As the Production Mode is On...So I just wanted to confirm that By Mistake have u used the AutoDeploy feature to deploy Applications...Because the AutoDeploy Feature Doesn't Work in Production_Mode=true.
After Configuring the Windows Service Have you tried to Deploy the Application Freshly? Was it Successful?
Thanks

Photos update won't open past the "preparing library" page
iPhoto just updated to Photo 2015. I can't get to my pictures because the app won't open past the "preparing library" page.
The iPhoto update, under Apps, won't let me resume the update - I get an error "this item is temporarily unavailable".
Any ideas?
Hi wolfey_j
Welcome to apple discussions.
Drag and drop the plist for iDvd to the trash followed by a full restart of your mac and then repair permissions from apple's disc utility (application > utilities > disc utility)
The plist for iDvd looks like this:
com.apple.iDvd.plist
If that fails to resolve this issue then delete iDvd using this free download from apple's web site:
http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/systemdiskutilities/appdelete.html
You'll need to re-install iDvd again (custom install from the software that shipped with your mac or any retail copy of iLife'09). And lastly run apple's software updater from system preferences so all is up to date again. (not a bad idea to repair permissions one more time after updating all apps.)
Hope this resolves the issue/s but if not just come on back.
Good luck.
