I have a Satellite 2455-S3001 part #PS245U-074966. The lcd no longer lights up.
I can examine the screen and see the display is working (with a flashlight I can see images on screen) . I would like to get this fixed but have never worked on display problems like this before. Previously I looked up this problem and what I gathered is that it might me a fl converter(forgive me if this isn't correct it has been over a year since I did the research).
I would like a definitive answer and not a maybe, money is tighter than it used to be.

I agree with Mores. I think the FL inverter is faulty and must be exchanged.
Have a look on eBay. A friend of me bought in eBay a FL inverter for his Satellite notebook and exchanged it. After this the display worked fine.
The FL inverter is not so expensive.

Photosmart c6380 lcd display not lighting up

I have a C6380 all in one printer and the lcd display back light has been intermittently going off and on. The display still works and you can read everything on it, but it is just hard to read when the display is not being backlit. Sometimes when I tap on the screen or flip the display up and down the light will turn back on, but only for awhile. I have tried searching for other posts about this type of problem, all to no avail. I have even gone as far as trying to find a replacement part for it, nope. I just don't want to replace the printer because it is only about a year old and works great. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If the printer is less then year old, then I suggest you call HP and get the printer replaced. If you exceed the 1 yr. warranty, then the printer replacement will not be free of charge.

Screen no longer lights up

I've noticed since the recent update that the screen on my Droid Charge no longer lights up when a text comes in. I hear the notification then I have to push the button on the side to light the screen up. Does anyone know is there is an app or somehow to get the screen to light up when I message arrives?

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Nokia 9300i outer lcd only has light but no displa...

My nokia 9300i out lcd only show light but there is no display or startup splash screen. Internal display if fine. I am able to dial from outside display, but no letters / menu are shown.

umm......i dont think throwing the phone against anything is a recommended to fix anything.
take it to a nokia care point to let an engineer take a look at it.

Satellite A660 - Touch buttons no longer work

Hey,
I have had a satellite A660 for a few months now, and recently, some of the touch buttons have stopped working, these include the eco utilities, wireless, programmable shortcut, play/pause, lighting and touch pad on/off button.
This makes it very hard to use the laptop as I can no longer use the touch pad as it wont turn back on. I can only use the laptop when I have a mouse connected.
How can I reassign these buttons to their roles?

it is. they dont work together.you can uninstall the driver for the buttons.

Toshiba Button Support uses the Windows function "MobilePC" - > " Hotstart". Hotstart only works, when the autostarting function was not deactivated (the value of registry key: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Pol icies\Explorer\NoDriveTypeAutoRun is set to 0xFF).you can change this to something esle. VMware set's this value per default to deactivate the CD/DVD Autorun feature. Switch on the autorun, reboot the Qosmio and Hotstart (and also the Toshiba Button Support) works fine. That's the whole problem.

I recently uninstalled a programme for a DV camera on my Satellite U300. After the uninstall, I am no longer able to use the optical drive. If I put a cd/dvd into the drive it will 'fire up' however it will not register with the laptop to enable play. I have tried diagnostics test, but it just skips past optical drive as if it was not there.
Has the uninstall also removed driver software for the optical drive and, if so, is there anyway for me to recover/download the driver without a full recovery losing all other installs on the machine?
Any advice greatly received!

Hi,
is the optical drive present in the device manager?? If so, then remove it and reboot your machine. After that the drive should be reinstalled automatically.
If not, then perform a complete registry check with some registry cleaning software.
Afterwards perform the first step.
If this does not help, then it would be better to recover your machine..

Satellite L300-1bd LCD backlight does not work properly

A few days ago, the backlight of my l300 stopped to function properly.
I have tried turning it on a few times, and sometimes it briefly lights up and then goes off again.
Any idea's on what my next move should be?
I called a repairshop, and the guy i spoke to told me they would charge 50 euro's just to open it and that he was afraid he might have te put a new lcd screen in which would cost me another 150 euro's. I cannot afford this, nor do i think it would be a smart move to do a 200 euro repair on this notebook..
now because the backlight went briefly on and then off, i am kind of hopeing the cable that connects the screen to the computer might be broken/not plugged in properly. I found a repair manual which makes me think i can change it myself, but: is there a way i can make sure what the defect is before trying to plug in a new cable? what kind of cable do i need, and where can i get this?

Either its just a FL inverter issue or the display fault
The FL inverter controls the display backlight and therefore I think its FL inverter.
This is a small part hidden behind the plastic display frame.
I dont know ho much is it but its not very expensive like display itself.

Satellite PRO U500 - LCD Size is reduced

Hi to all,
I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro U500 with a little problem, the size of LCD is reduced. I have a blank border to the rigth and bottom. The max resolution is 1024x768.
The problem is visible also when I enter in the BIOS so I think the problem isn't Operting System's drivers.
Is there a solution to my problem? Do I need to send in Assistence?

It is really strange, especially if you can see the same in BIOS settings?
Since when have you noticed this behaviour?
Do you use original preinstalled OS you got with your notebook?
Have you done something that can be responsible for described issue?
I have U500 and default display resolution is 1280 X 800 so I dont understand do why you have 1024 X 768 on your U500.

MBA 11" backlit keyboard no longer lighting automatically

The backlit keyboard on my MBA 11" is no longer responding to the "automatically illuminate keyboard in low light" option in System Preferences. I can control the backlights manually with F5 and F6, but they don't come on automatically in the dark (easily testing by covering the camera).
Originally, the F keys would even be completely inactive, with a line appearing across the on-screen brightness display to say the control was on automatic, but that doesn't happen any more.
I have reset the SMC, but that has changed nothing. The automatic brightness control on the display works fine.

I am replying to my own post, as I don't see a way to edit it.
While researching this issue further, I found a "work-around" from a user called Golden Shoes - where the creation of a .css file is decribed in expert, easy to follow detail. This worked perfectly, and I have since infected my other toys with this fix for Safari zoom levels...

Lcd is not lighting up

my son connected the laptop's power cable to the metal part of the monitor cable, and since the tv doesn't want to work. I think two things could have gone wrong, the main board and the power board. i don't want to replace both, if only 1 is gone.
I opened the back and checked the fuse, it is good, but the green light doesn;t come up, after pressing the power button a few times.
Any idea which one should I change, main board, the power, or both?
it is a Toshiba 32AV502RZ.

LCDS Java Long to Flex Number conversion issue

Hi,
I am having a userVO in Java and Flex. userId attribute of userVO is of type Long in Java class and Number in AS class. The Long attribute userId "10001256" in the Java userVO gets converted to an exponentinal value for e.g 1.0001196E7 by LCDS.
I want the userId to be represented as "10001256" in the Flex side instead of an exponential value. Is there something i am doing wrong?

3 Soft Keys NO LONGER LIGHT UP

Why is it after the new update the 3 soft keys at the bottom of the lumia 800 no longer work properly, surely this is not what you intented because it would be absolutely ridiculous, you would have made 3 keys for a phone nobody can see in the dark, and as for some reason there is an option to manually adjust brightness and such which can affect the 3 keys performance but the second you change it and go out of that specific menu it resets itself, so please can we have a few answers, enough people have now told of their dismay that the soft keys no longer work, answers answers answers please !!!

Exactly. Using my Lumia 800 in the day is fine on any brightness is fine as the soft keys reflect well in daylight, however at night if I want to use medium or high brightness I'm out of luck now if the keys turn off completly. The screen light isn't going to light them up as there's no natural light for them to reflect off! Granted I mostly do use automatic brightness, but on occasion I do use manual brightness settings.
The only reason I can see for this change (if it was planned) is power saving. Which OK fine, but this should be make as additional settings options, not forced (If it was planned that is). Nokia have definitely changed something though. If you go to the Lights test on the Diagnostics and set the backlight intensity to anything greater than 4, the soft keys will go off completly. I would say that's a firmware change plain and simple.
I spoke to a Nokia Suport representative and he seemed surpsied when I told him the Lights test with a backlight greater than 4 turns the soft keys off completly. Nokia need to sort this out!

Satellite L350-170 - Should HDD/ODD light be flashing?

I have a L350-170, noticed recently it seems to be constantly flashing.
I went out this morning, came back and laptop had not gone in "sleep"mode? Ilight was still flashing have run Avast,malwarebytes and superantispy, and besides the usual adware stuff super finds, nothing. Should I be worried?
Not sure if it's always flashed!

sure there is a solution:
remove the cover, cut out the led and reassemble the unit > flashing light is now history!
*dont do that* i am only kidding!
there are many "sleep" option for your notebook:
one of them shuts down the lcd only, everything else is working.
the flashing hdd led should be gone when the notebook is sent to "hybernation"
this means the ram is saved to disc and machine is going down.
in this state there is no activity on your harddisc at all!
if any program, service or download prevents your system from this state you will have this issue.
check if the same happens when NOT connected to lan/wlan.
when system is running, no matter what state, the os is writing permantly to hdd and reads content from it so that a little trafic is normal.

Satellite P100-203 need very long to start up

I bought my Satellite P100-203 computer in october 2006, since day 1 it takes a long time that the computer is ready with starting up. WXP MCE is installed. I think that a computer with Intell T2500 dual core 2.0 GHZ/1024MB should be ready in a minute...
Anyone an idea what the problem can be?

Believe me, the notebook with dual core 2.0 GHz CPU will not boot faster as a notebook with a Pentium4 2.0 GHz.
The question is. What and how many applications will load at the start up?
Many applications make the boot procedure slow and longer. I think you use the Anti virus software. If you will disable the starting of such applications at the beginning the notebook should boot up much faster

Satellite P10 PSP10E shutdown and the light stays on

Hello,
I'm having a few troubles with my old (2004) Satellite P10 PSP10E-0SCM7-FR
One day it simply shut down (as if out of power, no BSOD) and the power button as well as the led for the WIFI and CD/DVD stay on.
Most of the time I cannot turn it back on as the power buton still is on. (Power button, WIFI and CD/DVD are on).
I've tried to take the battery out and unplug the computer for at least 30mm
I've tried to press the start button for a while (a minute) then unplug everyting (Power cord + battery) for at least 30 mn before to turn it back on
I've reinitialzed the computer using therecovery CD provided with the computer
I've removed the heatsink, cleaned it as well as the fan then put back some new thermal grease
I've changed the memory
Yet I still have the same problem, for some unknown reason, the computer simply shutdown and the light stays on. On occasion, the power light do go off, and I'm able to start the computer again. But I'm unable to understand what makes the computer shut itself down, or when that happens, what makes turns the power light off and make it possible to start the computer again.
Any idea of what's going on ?
Could the power button and light being turned on be an error message?
If so, what does it means ?
Any help is much appreciated. Thanks !

Since the computer is about 10 years old, I'll certainly won't have it fixed as I'm affraid it would cost way too much. For a ltitle while i thought about getting another used P10 in order to get some spare parts to fix my computer. But I guess this is going to be much too complicated for me and might cost me a lot with no inssurance that I'll ever get it fixed.
I guess I should better save some money and buy a new one.
I'll stay subscribed to this thread... if anyone has an idea on what could be the problem, please post here. Thanks.
