Re: Satellite A100-033 PSAANE: Realtek Stereo Mix Audio has become "Lost"

Following an encouraging reply to a forum question, I have replaced the original 60G hard drive in my Toshiba Satellite A100-033 PSAANE with a 500G drive.
All is well, except that I no longer have "Stereo Mix Realtek High Definition Audio" in the Recording tab in the Sound option in Control Panel.
It means that I can't record any sound at all, if I try to capture sound, for example using NCH's Debut Video Capture Software.
If I replace the original 60G drive, Realtek Stereo Mix is there and I can record okay. If I plug in my external sound card, I can record sound with that. If (in my new 500G drive) I look at Device Manager in Control Panel, Realtek High Definition Audio is listed under Sound Video & Game Controllers. So it looks like the correct driver is there okay. But somehow it isn't recognised under Sound in Control Panel, and it can't be used by the software which requires it.
It may be a simple problem but it's baffling me. Can anyone help?

Thanks for the suggestions. I used the genuine Toshiba recovery disc. Actually, I have discovered what the problem was. In control panel (home) - hardware and sound - sound - recording, if you right click inside the box, you get the option to show disabled devices and disconnected devices. My Realtek drivers were shown as disabled. Once I ticked to show disabled drivers, my Realtek was shown, and I could then select it as default. It's not something which is at all obvious, but I will try to remember it for next time.

  • Can I install 4GB RAM in my Satellite A100-033?

I have a Satellite A100-033 (PSAANE-03J02GEN). The manual says that it will support only 2GB RAM maximum. Does anyone know if it will in fact support 4GB? I have installed 2x1GB instead of the supplied 2x512MB, and am tempted to install 2x1GB? Will this work, or is there some restriction in the motherboard or BIOS which means that the larger RAM won't be recognised? Can anyone help?

Thanks. I agree that the fact that my laptop's specification says "2GB maximum RAM" is a bad sign, but I have found in the past that specifications aren't always completely accurate, which is why I enquired.
My processor is a 1.6GHz Intel T2060. A check on my laptop (by the program "Belarc Advisor") says that my motherboard is an Intel Capell Valley (NAPA) CRB, and that my BIOS is a Phoenix 6.00 07/12/2007. Is there any way whereby I can find out if this combination will in fact recognise 4GB of RAM?
I know that 4GB only yields a little over 3GB usable RAM, but I would still like to increase the amount of RAM which I have, if this is possible, but obviously I don't want to spend money on 2BG chips which then don't work in my laptop.
    Any suggestions gratefully received!

  • USB external HDD won't access files properly on Satellite A100-033

I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop A100-033 ( PSAANE-03J02GEN), running Windows Vista Home Basic.
I have a Western Digital passport external hard drive, which has no separate power source, as it draws its power through the USB port.
Sometimes the drive works okay, but I often have huge problems in accessing files on the drive. Opening a folder can make Windows hang.
Opening a Word or audio file can make Word or the audio software crash. Copying files often fails and in the process may make Windows explorer stop working.
Recently I tried to copy a 33MB file from the external drive to my laptop, and while it did this it took over an hour. So all sorts of things can happen, none of them pleasant.
Problems can happen whether the external drive is the only peripheral plugged into a USB drive (apart from an external mouse, which I always use), or whether the external drive is one of a number of peripherals plugged into my laptop - either separately or via a USB hub (either powered or unpowered).
Does anyone know what is going on and how I can make my USB external drive usable? I have two other external drives (powered by their own power source) and these work perfectly.
Why, much of the time, does this drive limp along so badly as to be virtually unusable?

    Hi
One thing is clear; the issue is definitely related to the external HDD and not to the notebook. It looks like that this issue happens always if the HD was connected.
Its really difficult to say what could be wrong with your external HDD
Maybe the HDD sectors are corrupt and therefore you cannot open the folders and some files stored on the HDD.
Did you try to format the HDD? Check this and try to save and reopen some files again.
In worst case the external HDD has a hardware malfunctions

  • Satellite A100-785 PSAANE - CD/DVD drive issue

    Hello Friends,
I own a Toshiba Satellite A100-785 PSAANE and its configurations are as follows:
    1.87 Ghz C2D, 1 Gb Ram (512 + 512), Windows Vista Basic, CD/DVD read/write...
Issue: Its been quite long, i m facing a certain problem with my Optical Drive. When ever I insert an CD which is originally produced by any company it works fine. The moment I insert any CD which is personally burned with some data from any normal CD/ DVD writer or the CDs which were previously created by the same laptop mentioned above, its been read as a blank disc. The data of the disk is not shown.
For eg: Lets say if I insert any software cd like my webcam's cd or my printer's cd they can be read normally and work fine. But the moment I enter any cd which is been burned by me which contains my personal files, that is been read as a blank disc.
This issue does not exists with any of the DVDs. Doesn't matter which every dvd I insert either being a normal software dvd or being the one which is burned as a personal data dvd, everything works fine and all the data in dvd can be read.
I have tried reinstalling the driver, I have tried reformatting my laptop using the Toshiba Recovery CD provided with the laptop, but the issue still exists.
In between few months ago, I tried doing some tweak, like first i insert the cd in the drive and then disable the cd drive and then enabling it again would actually read the cd. But after few tries, this also stopped working.
Now I really have no idea what should I do to make my CDs work normally.
I hope this post can help me out.
    Your help will be appreciated
    Thanks for your precious time
    Regards
    Jeetendra

For me it sounds like a DVD, where the data has been burned, were not fully compatible.
I meet such issue on different computers. A friend of mine has had the similar problem with an non Toshiba notebook. Its matter of the disks which are used for burning.
I tested several brands and now Im using TDK and Verbatim because my CD/DVD drive supports these kind of disk properly.
Of course it could be an hardware issue too but in such case you will need to replace the CD/DVD drive

  • Satellite A100-033: I disabled touchpad and now Fn+F9 doesn't enable it

I have a Toshiba Satellite A100-033 running Vista Home Basic. I mostly use the laptop as a desk top replacement and, as I dislike using the touchpad, I disabled it, and instead I use an external mouse via one of the USB ports.
I am not sure whether I disabled the touchpad by pressing Fn + F9 or by some other means (if it was by some other means I have forgotten what this was). Recently I wished to re-enable the touchpad so that I could use the laptop outside the house. However, I found that pressing Fn & F9 did not re-enable the touchpad and I now can't use the touchpad at all.
If I go into mouse properties (in control panel), this tells me that my synaptics pointing device is enabled. If I go into device manager and look at "mice", I am told that my touchpad is working properly.
All this makes me suspect that the problem is not a hardware fault but that I have altered some setting, with the result that my touchpad is permanently disabled until I change the setting back to its original state.
    Help!

Jayjay, Thanks for your suggestions. I don't seem to have a system restore point which goes back far enough, so I don't think that possibility will work.
Regarding the possibility of reinstalling the touchpad driver, I may have to do this, but I am a bit put off by the fact that when I downloaded the touchpad driver from the Toshiba site and had a look at it, I was told that it was older than the one I already have on my laptop.
(My laptop is a year old and the touchpad driver on the Toshiba website was last updated in early 2007.)
I'm a bit reluctant to install a driver which is older than the one which I have already got and which my laptop tells me is working properly.
As I said, I may have to try re-installing the touchpad driver anyway, but I think I will wait a bit first, and see if I get any other suggestions.
    Thanks again for your reply.

  • Is this RAM module compatible with my Satellite A100-033?

Hey, would just like to know if this is compatible with my laptop? I think my laptop supports DDR2, but im not sure? Do i have to get anything specific just for laptops?
    Thank you

Dont think that the memory module mentioned in your post above will be compatible with the Satellite A100-033.
What you need is something like this:
    http://www.orcalogic.co.uk/asp/prodtype.asp?prodtype=28381&ft=m&st=3
You need a module which supports this spec:
    DDR2 533MHz (PC2-4200) 200-PIN SODIMM

  • Want VGA drivers for Satellite A100-033 under Vista Home Basic

I have a Satellite A100-033 which runs Windows Vista Home Basic. The main video driver is an Intel 945 chipset. However, I want to install an ordinary VGA driver. This is because I have some software which needs full screen mode. The Intel chipset won't allow this, but the VGA video driver does. Until now I have been able to access the VGA driver on my laptop, via personalise/ displaysettings/ monitor/, which would let me select a VGA driver from a list of device drivers which was presented to me. However, this option has been removed from the list of options. How can I find the VGA driver on my laptop, and/or download another one?

    Hi
Im a little bit confused. I dont know exactly what you want to do but the graphic card driver can be updated and install via device manager.
Access simply the device manager, select the graphic card and install or update the graphic driver.
Some graphic drivers cannot be installed automatically. In such case you should install it manually.
That means you should assign the graphic card driver source manually.

  • Is there a way to have some sort of stereo mix audio input for mac?

Actually, after scouring the web, I see that RogueAmoeba also has a free utility called LineIn which simply sends the audio in to the audio out and doesn't interfere with other programs like iTunes!
On the other hand, after downloading and trying it, there is a noticeable latency between what goes in and what comes out.
The latency is in the computer, not the software. Most of the latency is in the A/D and D/A conversion.
You need to connect the analog input to the analog output directly to get zero latency.

  • Satellite L750-170 Windows 7 Stereo Mix Not Appearing

    Hi,
I've been looking for ages on how to enable my Stereo Mix and I just can't get it up...
I've installed the latest driver for my 'Conexant SmartAudio HD', clicked the 'Show Disabled Devices' and the 'Show Disconnected Devices' and I still end up with no Stereo Mix showing. I've got Stereo Mix on my XP, Vista and my other Windows 7 PC before and I really don't know why it won't work on this.
    Please Help!!
    Thanks

    *I found a solution!*
Stereo Mix is a sound device for recording music from you computer.
It is very useful for marketing purpose.
However, it is usually missing in most Toshiba computers.
Here is how to get it back.
This solution worked for my Satellite L750.
    - Download the latest Conexant SmartAudio driver for your laptop downloadable at http://support.toshiba.com/.
    - Create a new folder (I created one on my Desktop) for the driver and extract the zipped driver files to it with WinRAR.
    - You should find a couple folders. Browse through them until you find the folder labeled W7-64/ W7-32, depending on whether you are using 32-bit or 64-bit.
There will be a .inf file inside. There should only be one file with that extension. Open it in Notepad.
    - Now search in notepad until you find this section:
    ;HKR,%EPattributePath%\EpSettings\PcBeepCtrlEnable ,Enable,1,01
    ;HKR,%EPattributePath%\EpSettings\PcBeepCtrlEnable ,EPname,1,01
    ;HKR,%EPattributePath%\EpSettings\PcBeepCtrlEnable ,DefGainSettings,1,00,07,00,07
    ;HKR,%EPattributePath%\EpSettings\PcBeepCtrlEnable ,MuteGainSettings,1,00,00
    ;HKR,%EPattributePath%\EpSettings\PcBeepCtrlEnable ,Flags,1,00
    ;HKR,%EPattributePath%\EpSettings\StereoMixEnable, Enable,1,01
    ;HKR,%EPattributePath%\EpSettings\StereoMixEnable, MixAssocSeq,1,E0,E0
    ;HKR,%EPattributePath%\EpSettings\StereoMixEnable, MuteGainSettings,1,00,00
Note the semi-colons in front of each line. Remove all the semi-colons so the 8 lines above read like this:
    HKR,%EPattributePath%\EpSettings\PcBeepCtrlEnable, Enable,1,01
    HKR,%EPattributePath%\EpSettings\PcBeepCtrlEnable, EPname,1,01
    HKR,%EPattributePath%\EpSettings\PcBeepCtrlEnable, DefGainSettings,1,00,07,00,07
    HKR,%EPattributePath%\EpSettings\PcBeepCtrlEnable, MuteGainSettings,1,00,00
    HKR,%EPattributePath%\EpSettings\PcBeepCtrlEnable, Flags,1,00
    HKR,%EPattributePath%\EpSettings\StereoMixEnable,E nable,1,01
    HKR,%EPattributePath%\EpSettings\StereoMixEnable,M ixAssocSeq,1,E0,E0
    HKR,%EPattributePath%\EpSettings\StereoMixEnable,M uteGainSettings,1,00,00
    Now cick "File" and "Save".
    - Then go to Control Panel, Sounds and Hardware, Device Manager, Sound, Video, and Game Controllers, and right click on Conexant Smart Audio HD, select Update Driver Software.
    - Then go to Browse My Computer for Software, Let Me Pick From A List, Have Disk, and navigate to the .inf file (the one you edited in Notepad) in the folder on your desktop.
    - It should tell you it is no longer digitally signed and might harm your computer. Install it anyways.
    - Now open up your Sound tray. If you go to the "Recording" tab, and make sure "Show Disabled Devices" and "Show Disconnected Devices" are both checkmarked.
    - Now you should have Stereo Mix. Right click on it and select "Enable".

After reinstallation of Win7, the stereo mix option is missing in control panel/sound/recording devices. The microphone option is there, and works, but I can't get the stereo mix back (can't record streaming, youtube, etc)

Wiped the hard drive, restored to out of the box state, and the driver is now present.

  • Stereo Mix audio option disabled with on MS Communicator call

I have Stereo Mix enabled on my computer (Windows Vista) and I can see it as an audio input option in Captivate 5. But, when I launch MS Communicator and make a phone call, the option on longer is available. Interestingly, when I use Captivate 4, my "Stereo Mix" option remains available and so I can record the voice of someone I'm talking to via Communicator. Is there a way to get this to work with Captivate 5?

On a spur-of-the-moment decision, I purchased a Toshiba Satellite C655-S5512 from WalMart. After spending the last several hours failing to enable the Stereo Mixer (despite following several suggestions posted on these forums and around the Internet), my $400 laptop will be returned. Sadly, it is outfunctioned by an old Dell Latitude C640 that I picked up from a second-hand store for $99. I may check out the Dells at WalMart to see if they have what I need (for just $100 more I could have gotten an i3 core with 2GB RAM and 2 more hours batterly life), or I may go back to the second-hand store, but it doesn't appear that Toshiba is "leading innovation" by choosing a subpar sound chip. Saving a few cents on the sound chip is now going to cost their distributor $400 in lost sale and create a "refurbished" laptop that they'll have to take a loss on.

  • Stereo Mix Audio format not supported?

    Hi
I'm pretty new at streaming, and i need help with my audio setup, I'm selecting Stereo Mix from the dropdown menu in the FMLE 3.2 but when i do it says.
    "Audio format not supported."
"Audio format provided by audio capture device is not supported by this application."
I don't really understand why, since my mic device is supported. Why does this occur?
And how can I fix it?
I have a motherboard soundcard "VIA HD".
EDIT: I figured out why it doesn't work.
I went to the Recording devices menu to check the options but I noticed that Stereo Mix was "Currently unavailable" I figured maybe a program was using it but I don't know how to check what programs use the device.

I have noticed something else which is weird : the recording device is ALWAYS called "Line 1".
I tried renaming both the VAC playback and record devices Line 1 to other names, FMLE still displays "Line 1". This makes no sense (and Audacity sure doesn't behave that way, I have checked).
Should I need to make a complete uninstallation to wipe old FMLE settings ?

  • Realtek Hi Def Audio has no sound for X540 5.1 rear two speakers

Hello-I have an Idea Centre K430 Desktop running Win8.1Update1-64bit,IE11,12 GB Memory and 1 TB HDD. I have X540 Logitech 5.1 speakers installed. I recently installed Realtek Hi Def Audio Driver 2.75. After installing this driver.I observed that my speaker system was reduced from a 5.1 system to a 3.1 system. I tried  adjusting different settings in the Lenovo HD Audio Manager without correcting the rear two speakers' sound problem. I switched spear configurations.Quadaphonic produced sound on the two front and rear speakers and no sound on the front middle speaker. I swithed to th 7.1 configuration and received sound on the 5.1 configuation. I do not have the two other speakers required for a 7.1 configuration. I am convinced that my speakers are working and there is something wrong with my 2.75 driver download. I deleted  my previous 2.75 driver and re-installed the 2.75 driver from Realtek's download site. Thanks.
    Carl W Lesesne

Not all is lost, however. Your sound card *can* output surround sound (already encoded) from a DVD, by enabling pass-through. I'm looking at my drivers in entertainment mode, and you would enable "Dolby Digital Bitsream Out: On" on the Dolby Digital page. Same thing on the DTS page.
I know I had my Audigy 2 ZS hooked up to both the analog and digital ports on my receiver, and to be honest, I couldn't tell the difference. I'm sure the X-Fi would be give the same result. If your receiver does not have analog 5. inputs, then you are SOL. If they do, however, then there really is no degradation using the analog inputs. Really expensi've receivers ($000+) have top quality DACs, but the ones on the X-Fi (to the best of my knowledge) are as good if not better than the DACs on any standard receiver. The digital data needs to be converted to analog somewhere, and it doesn't really matter if its done by the card, or by the receiver. I would highly suggest doing what I said - hook up your X-Fi to both the analog and digital ports simultaneously, and switch between the two while playing some stereo music. If you are happy with the analog output's sound, then just go analog. Forget the myth that digital has to be better. Its only better if the DACs are better, and they probably aren't.
EDIT I just noticed you were talking about an Audigy 2 ZS, but all this still applies. Enabling pass-through may be a bit different, and I can't remember exactly how since I had already determined the analog outs sounded good and I didn't bother keeping the digital connected using my Aud2ZS.Message Edited by opozoid on 0-2-2005 06:40 AM

    Hi
You are right. There are is no BIOS which could be started fro floppy disk or USB stick.
You have to update the BISO running windows OS.
But according to your message this is not possible.
So you have no other possibility as to contact the Toshiba authorized service provider in your country.
The guys should be able to help you. I presume the technicians have access to the traditional BIOS version which could be updated using a floppy disk.
