My problem is that i just installed Windows 7 on my notebook Toshiba Satellite A 300-22F and my Web cam doesnt work anymore and my camera assistant software is missing.
I looked on the homepage of toshiba but there is no download for my series number .
I dont know what to do anymore,please help me!!!

You have to install the Chicony webcam software. The A300-22F seems to belongs to PSAGCE series but you can try to install the webcam software which was released for other A300 series.
For example this:

Until you don't have right Win7 driver I don't see any sense to discuss about it. Vista driver can work but it must not.
All available Win7 drivers, tools and utilities are tested and everything must works properly.
What you can try is to install Win7 camera assist software for other notebook model and test functionality. if you want you can try to install THIS webcam driver .

Camera Assistant Software shows CEC_MAIN.exe error

Hi, i have trouble with my webcam software.
My Camera Assistant Software v. 1.7.171.0103 didn't working. Every time I click it, always show dialog box : "CANNOT EXECUTE CEC_MAIN.EXE. Please reinstall this program". I have reinstall the program but still show that box. So, I can't use my cam. Strangely, it working if i trying the Face Recognition...

But just now i have change my OS to Windows 7 Ultimate from Windows Vista Home Edition. My laptop is Toshiba L300.. And now have trouble again...
Not about CEC_MAIN.exe ( i have changed the setting in Kaspersky), but now it always show : "Webcam driver open fail. Please restart camera or computer." when i click the icon... I have try to reinstall the driver, but is has the same result.

How do you convert a undf video file from the camera assistant software?

i recorded a video from the camera assistant software and i forgot to save it and it is a undf file and it will not play. it shows as a undf file. i have tried a couple of conversion software but it still does not play.

i have a qosmio f45-av series and i can not tell which version of the camera software i have. the problem is on 3 occasion my computer shut down before i could exit out of the system and when the computer came back the file says it is a avi but it will not play and i noticed when i tried a couple of different player it says the file is unplayable and that it is a undf file. it has the space but it just movie clip but i have not found anything that will make them play. i tried to download that file but it was not in english and i did not know what i was doing. please help

Satellite A300-22F - Face Recognition can't use the webcam on Vista 64

Hello everybody,
I've got a big problem with the Face recognition tool and my operating system Windows Vista.
Yesterday I installed Windows Vista 64bit on my new Sat. A300-22F Notebook because the preinstalled
version of Windows was only 32bit and I've got 4gig of RAM.
So, all drivers are installed and all works. The webcam driver with the webcam program works, too.
But when I start the Face Recognition tool, an error appears that the webcam can't be initialised or that
the webcam is in use and cannot be used at the moment with the program.
So, no program uses the webcam. The webcam works with other tools. And in the settings of the face tool
are the webcam still available, but without working.
Anyone an idea?
I've got the webcam drivers directly from Toshiba.

Are you using the newest version of the Toshiba drivers and tools? Look on the Toshiba website for an update.

Control buttons don't work on Satellite A300 with Win XP

Hi,
I bought a new Toshiba A300-1MX a few days ago.
I had windows XP installed. Service Pack 3. BIOS is version 1.50 (says so in the BIOS).
The problem: My shiny media keys dont work. They just dont respond.
Anyone with any suggestions?
I have downloaded the commute models models driver for XP plus the hotkey utility for XP, and after installing it the FN keys (ESC, F1-5-6-7-10-11) work (altho the F2,3,4,8,9,12 dont work).

Because the A300-1MX belongs to the PSAGCE series you have to choose and download the XP drivers for this model.
I checked the Toshiba driver page and there is a BIOS 1.40 only. So dont understand why you talk about 1.50 Bios.
Secondly the Toshiba media buttons will function if you would install the Toshiba Controls utility from the page.
Last but not least you need Common Modules to get the FN buttons working.
The single FN buttons like F9 for example need a additional tool like Touch Pad On/Off Utility
The Fn F2 or FN F3 will work if a Power Saver has been installed and hibernation has been enabled.
So as you see you need further tools!

I can't install display driver.
I got the message:

Where did you download the display driver?
Normally if you download the drivers on the Toshiba website they are working properly because they are pretested from Toshiba.
I assume you have downloaded a driver for another model or chipset so check the Toshiba page:

I recently did a clean install of Windows 7, updating from Windows Vista. I never used the web cam on Windows Vista, so I can't testify as to whether the web camera was workin correctly or not. However, when I tried to use it with Skype, it did not work. I reinstalled the driver that I backed up before I installed the new operating system, but it did not work. The web cam doesn't show up at all in Device Manager - even when set to display hidden devices. Trying to add new hardware through the control panel fails to detect the web camera at all. I have restarted after every install/repair of the driver.
Steps Taken
Reinstalled backuped drivers
I used third party software (Double Driver) to back up and reinstall the drivers for the web camera after I installed Windows 7. Double Driver claimed there was no device to install the driver for. I manually copied the files into the Camera Assistance folder and overwrote the existing ones. The files I copied were:
casflr.cat
oem34.inf
restore.ini
UVCFTR_S.SYS
Reinstalled Drivers from Toshiba Website
Extensive goolging has only turned up recommendations to uninstall and reinstall drivers. I was unable to find any drivers specifically for windows 7 64-bit, but I did try those for my model of laptop for Windows Vista 64-bit - no luck. I tried installing Camera Assistance Software for Toshiba, which as far as I can tell, includes the driver - it only gives me the error described above.
I also tried locating a generic Windows 7 driver for the web camera - I was unable to find one.
Check Registry Value Is Correct
I have also tried checked the registry value at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/ControlSet001/Enum/USB/SN001/ClassUID matches the value in C:\Program Files (x86)\Camera Assistant Software for Toshiba\driver\64bit\casflr.inf as and C:\Program Files (x86)\Camera Assistant Software for Toshiba\driver\32bit\casflr.inf recommended by some article recommend.
Please, I would really appreciate it if anyone could help me out here. I have exhausted all the options I can think of.
Likely Solution:
I encountered a thread post that suggested a loose wire was responsible and that the camera would work when the lid was almost closed. I tried this and the camera suddenly appeared in device manager. However, I still can't get it to work with Camera Assistant Software or Skype.

Hi - I'm a newbie to this forum.
I have an A300 Satellite Pro - not even 2 years old.
In the last 2 days I have 2 problems that I think are possibly related.
1. Like others on here I now cannot get my internal webcam to work. I get the 'webcam driver open failed' message. I have read some forums etc and today I have:
a) loaded most recent BIOS,
b) reloaded the webcam software drivers (the most recent seems to be from 2008!)
c) restarted my laptop about 20 times
Nothing works
2. In the last 2 days for the first time I keep getting the 'USB device not recognised' message that annoyingly crops up about every 10 seconds. I am assuming that the webcam is connected to a USB port (internal) and is no longer being recognised. Based on Google advice in various forums I have also:
1) Turned off the AC power supply
2.) Taken out the laptop battery and waited 5 mins - this apparently resets the BIOS
3) tried using device manager in various ways
Nothing bloody works!!
Maybe the hardware is damaged but I doubt it - I have not dropped the laptop, I always pack it carefully in a padded rucksack. It has always worked fine until 2 days ago.

Satellite A200 - Built-in camera is missing

Hi :)
First of all thank you in advance for your help.
I got a Satellite A200 without HDD, so I installed Vista 64 Bits in a new empty Disk... everything is alright but the built-in Chicony camera is missing in the Device Mannager, I tried reinstalling windows and the Last Version of the camera assistant software and nothing happens :-(
Do you think it could be a Hardware problem? I don't know if I have to connect something to the mainboard.

Today I switched HDs with another A200 (of the same model), that laptop had the original preloaded Vista 32 bits... my laptop detected my friends built-in camera but hers couldn't detect the camera in my laptop...
I don't know so much about computers but I'm afraid but this would mean a Hardware problem with my camera :_|

PS: Buy the way, if you think is still a Software problem... do you think the Toshiba centers have a recovery DVD for Vista 64 bits? The A200 come always with the 32 bits version

Webcam issue with Skype and MSN messanger on Satellite A300

Well. Contacted Toshiba Australia. and got some information.
Well, the person I spoke to said that he would try to find the drivers on the Toshiba European website, which he did. And he said to uninstall my camera assist software.
So I did, downloaded the new version, installed it. But i am still getting problems, saying that windows vista home premium, a USB device, is not functioning and windows cannot recognize it.
And also, got a driver error still, saying to either open the driver software or restart your computer.
Went to the Toshiba forums, and had a look, did post on their, but could not seem to find any answers, and did that in the last week or two.
Just, want to use Skype and MSN messenger.
But if i cannot get these problems to be resolved, then no point in installing, probably will not work, and have not tried this feature out yet on my machine.
Any one had similar problems, with their Toshibas? and where do i go from here.
Really stretching my head and not sure what to do?
The guy said maybe to do a recovery disk, but do not really want to go down that road.
That would mean having to spend hours reinstalling everything, and I do not have really the time to do that at the moment.
Really busy at the moment. Can any one offer any other suggestions or where do i go from here?
Had this problem, when i got it out of the box, and purchased from Harvey Norman, Burnie, Tasmania.

What model Toshiba do you have?
Are you sure the USB device is the webcam? Have you checked Device Manager?
* Download the updated Chicony Webcam driver from http://203.56.127.6/driver_download/Public//p2_all/ChiconyWebcam_v1.7.175.0123.exe
* Install Vista Service Pack 1, or Vista Hotfix KB934374: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/934374 (KB934374 is included in SP1)
* Update your Messenger software (MSN/Yahoo Messenger, etc..)
* If you have another program that can use the webcam (Skype for example), make sure they are completely closed, and not sitting in the System Tray.
* Try closing the Camera Assistant Bar on the left of the Desktop.
* To stop the Camera Assistant software from running on startup, run Regedit and delete "Camera Assistant Software" from HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run \

How can I install Camera Asisstant Software in A200-1AE without reinstalling the system?
I cannot find this software on my system and I cannot find it on DVD which I got with my PC.

If your notebook has built in web cam placed over the LCD display this software will be listed under START > All Programs. Everything is described in Users manuals document.
When you start your notebook in the task bar is placed small symbol. If you place the mouse pointer over this symbol you will see Camera Assistant Software dialog. To start this software you can also move mouse pointer on to left display side (somewhere in the middle of the left LCD side) and small window will be open. There you can start this software.
Please let me know if your A200 has built in web cam or not.

The same like touchpad driver you can use the software from other notebook series where Win 7 64bit is fully supported.

This option is placed in BIOS. Its called Illumination and you can enable and disable this in BIOS.

Satellite A300 - inbuilt Chicony webcam won't work with Win Live Messenger

I just bought a *Satellite A300-1MC* (runs on Vista Home Premium), and downloaded Windows Live Mail And Live Messenger.
The inbuilt webcam won't work with Live Messenger ; and when selecting Tool, Audi + Vieo Setup in Messenger I get thye following message : "We are unable to run Audi Video setup".
The webcam works fine with the Camera Assisant Software.
I have tried : 1) killing the C.A. Software and starting Messenger ; 2) dowanloading a webcam driver from Toshiba website ; 3) Updating Windows Vista
None of the above work.
Any suggestion gladly received.....

Many thanks for the advice.
I have downloaded and installed ManyCam 2.3, then rebooted.
The ManyCam software works fine, and picks up signal from the inbuild webcam.
But Windows Live Messenger still doesn't pick up the camera. I can not start a Video call or go to" Video Audio setup".
I have Windows Live Messenger version 14.0.8064 (installed on Tuesday).
Funny enough, yahoo messenger works fine : it gets a signal from the webcam.
Conclusion : i think it is Windows Live Messenger that doesn't work properly for some reason.
I have ordered a new external webcam, in the meantime.

Satellite A300-1G2 can't install Win Xp - missing HDD

I have just bought a new Satellite A300-1G2 without an operating system. Now I would like to install Win XP, however during instalation I receive a message that says that windows setup cannot find any hard drives installed on the system. What could be the problem?

I'm not sure whether what I'm going to write here is correct or not (oops) because I never did some of these stuff myself. To install XP I put my hard drive in compatibility mode just like you did and so far my XP works fine. BUT my install CD was a weird one so I cannot guarantee that this is the case for all others.
Apparently to put it back on the SATA AHCI mode you need to install a driver or software (sorry about being ambiguous but I decided to stick to using XP in the compatibility mode) called Matrix something. I'm sure there are hundreds of other threads on this issue so it's best for you to check them again and get some more correct information.
If you don't that and change your bios to SATA AHCI mode you'll get those horrible blue screens... That's as far as I know. Hope that helps
