1- Copy the *iaStor.sys* File into the \Windows\System32\Drivers\
2- Run *ich9m.reg*
3- Reboot end enter *BIOS* and switch to *AHCI*-mode
4- Use the downloaded driver to install manually the driver when windows detected it.

I spent too much time (almost 2 days) at trying and reading forum, so I think that it would be useful to share my experiment, especially because it's a frequent problem. Performance in compatibility is really poor (slowness at copying big files, windows takes so long to start up, CPU consumption), it’s 20 times better with SATA.<br />

IPhone 3GS froze during iOS 5.1.1 update - how do I get out of recovery mode without having to restore?

So I tried to update my iPhone 3GS to iOS 5.1.1, like iTunes told me to do, and it froze part way through the installation for a couple of hours. I tried to "reset" the iPhone by pressing both the home and power buttons simultaneously, but now iTunes tells me my iPhone is in recovery mode. From my limited knowledge, it seems I need to restore my iPhone, but I don't want to lose anything, like my SMS history.
Is there a way to get out of recovery mode without having to restore?

I came across this post as my iPhone 3Gs had gone into recovery mode on its own accord.   I had hundreds of photos unsaved and was gutted when I saw this post, I felt even worse as it was not the information (gdgmacguy) I wanted to read.
Unfortunately, the above post is simply wrong! A system cannot destroy information in a blink of an eye.   If it were that easy, the forensic teams across the world would have a hard time. A criminal could simply force a phone into recovery to remove all the data. Please!
I managed not only to take the phone out of recovery mode but also, salvaged all the data held on it.
To be fair, I am a little annoyed at Apple for not offering a salvage option on the device for such a situation. And it may be that they will not like me sharing this information, in which case I believe this view to be morally wrong because photos are so important. We all make mistakes, in terms of forgetting to backup from time to time.
What I used was the Redsn0w software, running as an administrator in XP compatibility mode. In the ‘Extras’ section it as a Recovery Fix option. It simply runs some software that takes the device out of recovery mode. I had to run it twice for some reason but the second time (out of desperation) worked a treat. The phone is now exactly as it was before it went into recovery mode. More to the point, it allowed me to backup all the photos and videos that I had failed to do before hand. And let’s face it, photos and videos are usually the most valuable stuff we keep on our phones.
I hope this help anyone in the same situation. I really hope someone from apple reads it and is able to convince the bosses that a recovery option is very important. And to take note that YES it is possible to recover data on a phone stuck in recovery mode. And more than likely it would be easier for apple, compared to other non-apple professionals.

To get my Iphone 4 to show up in iTunes, I have to uninstall iTunes and then reinstall it EVERY single time I want to connect my device to iTunes. I've tried just using a wi-fi connection and that won't work. It's very annoying to have to go through all that trouble of uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes every time that I need to connect to my iTunes account. I first got this phone in Germany when I was visiting my uncle who was stationed there, he had got the phone from AT&T here in the U.S. while in Germany connecting to his computer to itunes was no problem, it'd connect without any issues. Then when I came home back to the states, my phone would no longer connect to itunes on my computer unless I unistalled and reinstalled, but my computer does recognize my device when I connect every time just itunes does not and I don't understand why it's doing that. The ipod is not a backup device. The music sync is one way - computer to ipod. the exception is itunes purchases. Without syncing: File>Transfer Purchases
Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old comptuer, to your new one.

Unable to enable AHCI mode for Satelite L350-171

HI,
I recently installed XP on my laptop which previously had VIsta on it. The installation was successful and I managed to install all the drivers. The only problem I have now is not being able to enable AHCI in the BIOS without the laptop restarting. I installed the ICH9 SATA drivers and I can see them on the hardware device page. I was wondering if anyone else has had these problems, I'm not sure whether this has affected my laptop because occasionally I get the blue screen of death.
If you require any other information please let me know.

could you please elaborate on the process of installing the sata drivers, as far as i know when change the bios to ahci mode when loading WXP it just blues screens straight away. am i suppose to set it to hci then install a clean WXP?
another problem i have found is that my time on the WXP keeps reseting is this due to the ahci drivers?

That can be done by using Windows Regedit feature. It is imperative that you make a copy of the registry before you commit to the change.
Use regedit with extreme care. All changes that you make take place instantly. That is why it is critial to have made a copy .

Step 01: Restart the Notebook and start tapping F10 during the startup
Step 02: Please go to System Configuration after entering the BIOS
Step 03: Check if you have SATA Emulation under System Configuration

Hi I'm a new member of this forum and would like some advice on some things that I cannot find in the help sections, the Adobe website or the Forum.
My hard drive was too small (80GB) for all my photos and PE5 with all of the other programs I have on it so I have installed an additional drive (360GB). I am running XP Professional. Can anyone please tell me if I can migrate the PE5 and all the photos etc to the new drive WITHOUT having to uninstall and reinstall on the new drive? The computer is an AMD 2.7GHZ Athlon dual core with 3.25GB free memory.
As an additional question, I save all my photos that I have modified in a folder system that I have been using since long before I had PE5. I like this system because it works for me. However, when I save photos PE5 automatically saves them in the Organizer as well as the folder I tell it to. This is duplicating the amount of disc space that is being used. Can someone please tell me how to switch the automatic "Save in Organizer" off?

First, you don't need to move PSE itself ... just the photos. So no need to uninstall.
In PSE5, switch to Folder Location View (Alt-Ctrl-3), and move your folders that contain your photos to the new drive by dragging and dropping the folders in the folder browser that appears. For this to work, you may need to put a dummy photo on the new hard disk, and then import it into PSE.
Do not move your photos in Windows. Let me say that again. Do not move your photos in Windows.
Finally, your photos are not in the Organizer. By importing photos into the Organizer, you have not duplicated things using up twice as much disk space. The PSE Organizer contains only pointers to your photos, and a small thumbnail that it displays for you.

Satellite A300 - inbuilt Chicony webcam won't work with Win Live Messenger

I just bought a *Satellite A300-1MC* (runs on Vista Home Premium), and downloaded Windows Live Mail And Live Messenger.
The inbuilt webcam won't work with Live Messenger ; and when selecting Tool, Audi + Vieo Setup in Messenger I get thye following message : "We are unable to run Audi Video setup".
The webcam works fine with the Camera Assisant Software.
I have tried : 1) killing the C.A. Software and starting Messenger ; 2) dowanloading a webcam driver from Toshiba website ; 3) Updating Windows Vista
None of the above work.
Any suggestion gladly received.....

Many thanks for the advice.
I have downloaded and installed ManyCam 2.3, then rebooted.
The ManyCam software works fine, and picks up signal from the inbuild webcam.
But Windows Live Messenger still doesn't pick up the camera. I can not start a Video call or go to" Video Audio setup".
I have Windows Live Messenger version 14.0.8064 (installed on Tuesday).
Funny enough, yahoo messenger works fine : it gets a signal from the webcam.
Conclusion : i think it is Windows Live Messenger that doesn't work properly for some reason.
I have ordered a new external webcam, in the meantime.

I installed windows 7 to my Toshiba satellite a300 1gn, Short Model No: psagce and some illuminated media buttons don't work.
i have the latest drivest but still nothing. first button is should controll the illumination for media buttons, touch pad and Satellite logo.
second button should open media player or something like that. the other fore buttons work fine!
Could someone helt me solve my problem?

You have to configure the single buttons.
This Toshiba button support pop up will appear if the pressed button was not configured.
So press the button and then assign the action, application.
You have to expand this menu pressing on the small arrow on the right.
