Re: Satellite L500 - Crackling noise when audio is being reproduced

Hi all,
I bought a L500 a few weeks ago (Windows 7 64bit). Everything goes fine except for the sound. 1h or so after turning on the computer, the speakers start to produce a "crackling", "metallic" noise when audio is being reproduced, irrespective of the source (CDs, system sounds, movies, mp3 files...). It's just like there were hundreds of "micro-interruptions". The same with earphones. This seems also to affect any multimedia files, e.g. videos 10 min length take 12 min or so to play due to these micro-interruptions. The sound goes worse with the time and gets normal once the system is restarted, but some minutes later the noise comes again.
I've all the last Toshiba driver updates, including BIOS, LAN and sound cards, etc.
What can I do? Any clue will be welcome.
Many thanks in advance.

hello,
first thing i would try is to replace the driver from toshiba with the Microsoft driver, I personally dont use any of toshiba's drivers due to branding i dislike, however this to one side I run Windows 7 64 Home Prem, the sound cards (typically realtek) all have Microsoft drivers available, they work with no problem for me.
If its deferntly not a driver issue and you have the same problem with headphones as well as the laptops speakers then its a problem with the soundcard itsself.
Is your laptop still under warranty? hopfully if its hardware its still under warranty. Give toshiba a call, they should pick the laptop up and get it repaired for you solong as you did not get it from somwere like P.C World, AOL etc, if you got it from one of them stores then you need phone or take it to the tekguys.
If you need a step-by-step for using microsofts drivers just reply saying so and i;ll sort that for you :)
cheers
Phil

  • Static crackling noise, Right speaker when audio is being played

I recently purchased this Satellite C50D-A Windows 8 Laptop. I have had it for less than 3 months. Recently the right speaker has started acting up with some sort of high pitched static crackling noise whenever audio is played regardless of it being in a web browser or any other media. Even computer sounds are distorted from this. I typically use this computer for school and play music to study. How the hell can I fix this so I can actually listen to audio without this rather irritating issue?

I tried that and it didnt seem to do much of anything.
I played part of a song on spotify and recorded it to perhaps give you an example of what it sounds like?
I covered the left speaker so most of what you hear is the right speaker alone. The distortion is pretty clear when audio comes out of that speaker.

  • Crackling noises when using Scarlett 2i2?

Just bought the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 yesterday as my previous audio interface broke. Now I am having crackling noises when using the 2i2. . .a problem I did not have with my previous M-Audio Fast Track C400. . .so I know it's a problem specific to the 2i2. Already downloaded the latest drivers as well.
Anybody have any solutions or similar problems with this product??? The crackling noise is intolerable.
    Thanks.

Hi lee,  it sounds like the problem your having is exactly the same as mine.  When I use the 2i2 there is clapping and crackling which gets worse and worse until the sound disappears,  I know a few people on different forums are having the same issue so I don't think it is the interface.  I'm using iMac 27
    •      NVIDIA GeForce GTX 775M 2GB GDDR5
    •      3.5GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.9GHz
    •      16GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2X8GB
    •      1TB Serial ATA Drive @ 7200 rpm
There should be no problems with this set up in terms of capability,  I'm still waiting to hear back from Focusrite tech help desk and when I do I'll share the outcome.  I hope this can be resolved,  let me know if you have any luck before me?
If I was in the UK I would pick up the phone and call Focusrite but I'm in Australia!!

  • Crackling noise when rotating the headphone in the jack?

Is this normal? With the headphones that come with the iPod, I don't get this.. but I bought a different pair.. and they make a crackling noise when i rotate the connector in the headphone jack. Is this normal? Would I experience this if I upgraded to another headphone? Would it be different with the iPod in-ear headphones?

The crackling noise should never happen. The headphones must be defective. Return them to the store, buy another pair, and try them at the store before purchasing.

  • Crackling noise when recording

I am using an IMAC and the Steinberg CI2 interface to record and I am getting a crackling sound when recording. Does anyone know what this might be?
    Thanks

i have a similar problem with a yamaha mw12cx usb mixer and a macbook pro. i set the audio preferences to the specifications in the owners manual 44.1 khz on the input and 48 khz on the output and the crackling noise immediately went away. this worked for about 15 minutes of recording a narration but when the crackling started again, i couldn't set the output at 48 khz, it would change right back to 44.1khz. am i going to have to break the recordings up into 10 minute pieces?

  • Nokia 5610 with crackle noise when use headphone

    hi everybody !!!
i am using nokia 5610 XM,it's realy great music phone but when i listening music with headphone sopmetimes i can hear the crackle noise
but when i play the same song by mp3player with the same headphone i can find the crackle sound
What happend with my phone, may be the sound chip has problem ???
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

ders a few reasons y that may occur, there could be something wrong with the 3.5mm av in port, it could be dirty or damaged, or it could be a software thing where the music isn't being sent through as complete data through the connection. der r other reasons, either way, i would advise you to see a nokia care centre, especially if your warranty hasn't yet reached its void.

  • Crackling noise when waking form sleep

    Hi all,
my iMac has started making a crackling noise and is a bit noisy when waking form sleep? This goes away once it is started up.
    Is this normal?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
My iMac 27" (i7) exhibits the same phenomena. I have verified the following:
-It happens whenever waking from sleep, but only after sleeping for a fairly long time, at least a couple of hours. If It has been asleep for only half an hour or so it does not happens. I have not establshed the minimum sleep time necessary.
-It does not happen when booting the iMac.
-It does not happen if I only set the screen to turn off (and no sleep) so It is possibly not screen related.
I think it might have something to do with the power supply. It "feels" like there is some build up (of something) while the machine is asleep, that is released when it awakens.
It does not "feel" normal to me.....

  • Satellite A660 - Beeping noise when CPU isn't loaded

Hello, I have another problem with my new Satellite A660-1FL.
I replaced the built-in Hitachi hard drive against the much quieter Toshiba MK3265GSX. Now I always hear a beeping noise when the processor is not loaded. This is particularly annoying when I read documents. I have read in the internet that the problem occurs with the C4-state.
    How can I solve this?

Hi, i don't have the original HDD anymore. I had installed the recovery image on the new HDD before, but it was the same problem. The sound is even louder if the notebook is battery operated. Do you think this is a case for warranty?
I would say better it is a high pitch noise.
The problem can be the capacitors near the CPU as it is described here: http://bit.ly/2GS1PI
The same problem with A660 was discussed here: http://bit.ly/9LcuFs and with a Tecra S11 here:http://bit.ly/bjkwxS
It seems that many of people have the same problem, I noticed the noise on all notebooks with a Intel CPU that I bought in 2010. It was Sony F11 and ASUS PRO62.
I returned the notebooks because of this problem. I'am really dissapointed, it seems that all the notebooks with Intel CPU produced in 2010 have the same problem, and I do not know what should I buy. Maybe notebooks with AMD CPU don't have the noise.
The peeple who noticed the noise are usually up to 30 years old, and better with an SSD.
I had really silent A210 notebook, if the fan was off, but the SSD can also have the high pitched noise. That are these capacitors http://bit.ly/9J6X4M.
If you have luck you don't have the noise.

  • Crackling Noise When Receiving Calls

Hey, I've had my iPhone 3G since its release. This morning, I noticed that when I recieve a call, the person on the other side can hear me fine, but all I hear is a crackling noise. When I make a call, its fine. When I receive a call with the iPod speakers in, its fine.
It was fine last night, it just started this morning. Does anyone have any idea what this could be?

This is probably a network problem, not the phone, if you can hear OK on some calls but not others. If you consistently can hear through the headset, but not the earpiece speaker, that may be another problem and try resetting the phone, or restoring it. What happens when you use the speakerphone?

  • Why does my guitar make crackling noises when it plays through logic pro/garageband?

When my guitar plays directly through the interface and montors, it sounds perfectly fine. But whenever I want to add effects through a musical application  such as garageband or logic pro x, I get this weird, very loud crackling/bubbly sound. Can anyone help me out with this?

I have the exact same problem and it's been a week or so. It kind of just makes those weird noises out of nowhere and scares the **** out of me. Did you end up at the Apple Store or were you able to fix it up on your own?

  • Satellite C855 - strange noise when tried to watch/listen something

I bought this laptop around a month ago. When I first tried to watch or listen something, sizzling kinda noise came up for a few seconds and gone.
I didn't think that it was important. But now, it happens everyday and lots of times when I listen or watch something. It buzzes, sizzles for a few seconds and it is really annoying.
    What could the problem be?
    Please help me...

Are you sure the buzz and sizzle come from the speakers / headphones?
Maybe the strange noise comes from HDD?
In this case it would be an HDD malfunction.
It could be also possible that this strange noise appears because of stressed CPU.
In such case the applications (player) hangs / freezes for a second and creates some strange noises.
Would be interesting to know if system restore / system recovery would fix it

  • The speaker on my new ipad mini keeps making a crackling noise when playing music or games and even just typing

Has anyone else had this problem? It goes away for a while but when randomly starts happening again. Is this a common fault with the ipad mini or do I just have a faulty ipad? It is only 2-3 weeks old and never been dropped.

Sounds like there may be an issue with the speaker, contact apple and see if they can help you out.
