Re: Satellite P775-11P and upgrade with second HDD

I know that you can have a second HDD in higher models, but ist it possible to add a second HDD to my P775-11P???
Because the place/bay is already there, only the cables are missing....
Please help.....

I agree with Macius
If the connectors are missing, the second HDD is not possible.
The point is that all the notebooks use the same plastic covers but the motherboards might be different and this is the reason why the second bay is available but the 2nd HDD is not possible.

  • Not able to install Logic on mac with OSX.  10.8.2. Error message: Logic Studio.mpkg cannot be opened as the power pc programs are no longer supported. I have logic studio 8 software purchased in 2007 and upgraded with logic studio 9 (purchased in 2009)

After an earlier attempt to move Logic from my other mac (OSX 10.6.8) with the migration assistant to my new mac with OSX 10.8.2. I've re-started the whole start up process by erasing the hard drive from the new machine and build it up from scratch. After a new "out of the box" start, I decided to install LOGIC from my disks : starting with my 2007 package Logic Studio 8 and upgrading with my Logic 9 package from 2009. When trying to start to install 2008 I got the error message : Logic Studio.mpkg cannot be opened as the power pc programs are no longer supported.
What does this mean? HOw do I get this working under 10.8.2 as it works flawlessly under OSX 10.6.8. For sure I didn't buy a new machine to have OSX 10.8.2 but I suspect this is the roadblock to installing my logic package.
    Help!

    Mark,
    Sorry...
I completely lost the thread (I actually got confused between you and another poster on a another forum that was asking the same basic question) and somehow ended up thinking you were trying to install on a PPC Mac
My apologies and please ingnore those parts of my last post relating to the PPC Macs...
You have an Intel Mac and therefore Logic Studio 2 Boxed Upgrade set should install/run on your Mac without issue. As I said earlier.. you do not need to try and install from the original Logic Studio 1 /Logic 8 Boxed set...(It won't work anyhow because you have an Intel Mac and that version had a PPC installer)  but just install from the Logic Studio 2 / Logic Pro 9 Upgrade Boxed setof DVDs instead...
Have you tried the "Make Disk Image" solution I gave earlier? That normnally works under such circumstances as what you are describing can happen when your DVD drive cannot read the DVDs correctly... I have had this situation myself where one drive read them okay and another failed to do so for whatever reason. Making and then installing from Disk images of those exact same disks resolved the issue for me...
You can try to reinstall directly from the DVDs of course though under some circumstances it may not allow you to reinstall Logic Pro itself if that part of the original installation attempt was successful... in which case you can also try this... (It's probably the easiest method if Logic 9 was already installed and present in your Apps Folder)
If the Logic Pro App is in your applications folder..
Run Software Updates to update Logic Pro to a version that will run under 10.8.2 (The initially installed version of Logic will not)
    Run Logic
Go to the menu bar in Logic and select Logic Pro/Install Additional Content and select all content in there..
This content is basically exactly the same as what is stored on the remaining DVDs of the boxed set so you might not need to use the rest of the DVDs to install from but download it all instead from Apple Servers...

  • I restore and upgrade my Second Hand iPhone 4s and unfortunately the Find My iphone is ON. Is there a way to Activate it since I cannot contact the previous owner?

I bought an Ipad 4 for my wife and iPad Air 2 for my daughter and I have just bought a Macbook Pro with retina display for me. The whole family is an Apple products fan due to its reliability and security. Never know that it could be a disadvantage also. I bought a second hand iPhone 4s from a friend as he is short in caash, and I've been using it for awhile. I "restore and upgrade it" without thinking or checking the Find my iPhone settings, unfortuately it is turned ON. Although the previous owner removed the phone lock, I never asked for his icloud account as I intend to use the phone only for calling. I cannot contact him as his contacts and email address were erased when I restore the iPhone.
I have learned a hard lesson since Apple security is impregnable, my iPhone 4S will just be an expensive paper weight.

    no.
without the previous owners credentials the phone is useless to you.

Long time ago I have upgraded even older Satellite M70 with SATA HDD (270 GB if Im remembering well) and everything was fine.
In my opinion upgrade with normal SATA HDD should not be problem. It must not be SATA II because it will not work faster.
I cannot say for sure but there must be some compatibility problem.
Lets see if anyone else had more luck with HDD upgrade on Satellite A100.
Have you checked this forum with advanced search option? Maybe you can find some older thread about HDD upgrade on A100.

  • Does Satellite P70-A-129 support the second HDD/SSD

I recently bought this model P70-A-129 from Greece, and i am wondering if it accepts a second HDD / SSD drive.
I opened the underneath cover and there is a second connector but i don't know if it is connected to the Main-board.
Can you assist me by telling me if this model can manage a second drive?
    Thanks

    Hi
    Its easy to test this
You can try to connect the HDD placed in the first HDD bay to the 2nd HDD controller in the 2nd HDD bay. In case the BIOS would recognize the HDD properly, the upgrade should be possible.
Please check also this Toshiba Satellite P70 / Qosmio X70 HDD replacement procedure.

It shows you step by step instruction how to remove the HDD

  • I want to dual boot windows 7 and Arch with an HDD caddy.

I am thinking of two possiblities with this scenario.  I want to first leave my windows 7 install on the hard drive that came with my laptop, and leave that HDD where it is, but in a few days, i'm getting a caddy so i can switch my optical drive for another HDD, which is going to be a 250gb.  On the 250, i want to experiment with arch, and maybe other linux distros, so i can get a nice feel for linux once again, it's been about 2 years since I've played with it.  What i am hoping to maybe do is switch those hard drives out, if I can get a linux install i feel 100% comfortable with, and running the windows HDD in the caddy, and the linux HDD installed in the motherboard.
I just have a few questions though.  First, is it possible to boot Arch when it is an HDD caddy? and second, would windows possibly work if i moved that hard drive into the caddy later?

perpulstuph wrote:First, is it possible to boot Arch when it is an HDD caddy? and second, would windows possibly work if i moved that hard drive into the caddy later?
Yes, and yes.  Both should be quite easy.
You should be able to set you BIOS to boot from one or the other - or alternately you can chainload windows from a linux boot loader quite easily (if/when linux is on the drive that the BIOS has selected to boot).

The Keys e.g. TAB, Coursor-keys etc. from Keyboard helps not more.
Please has anyone a Idee for the solution of my problem?

  • Function Keys of Satellite P775-11P do not work

I recently Reinstalled Windows on my Laptop because of a Virus. As i was done with instaling drivers i saw that the Fn-Key and the Softkeys did not work any longer. So i was looking for the reason and discoverd that some drivers would not install properly. Is it because i now have 32bit instead of 64bit?
Is there a version for 32Bit? And which driver is the one for the Fn-Key and Softkeys?
    Ch S

    >Is there a version for 32Bit?
Sorry mate but have you checked which operating systems are supported before youve started OS installation?
Ive checked Toshiba download page on http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp and Win7 64bit version is supported only.
Do you have recovery discs? Install original OS that you got with your notebook?

  • Document with submit button, and signature with second submit button

I have a form that is filled out by one person who submits the completed form to his/her manager. When that manager signs the form, he/she also clicks a radio button either approved or not approved.
When I test this form and click not approved the following message is displayed:
    GeneralError: Operation failed.

Property: 'rawValue' cannot be set because doing so would violate this document's permissions settings.

  • Satellite A350-122 - How to install second HDD?

    Hello,
    I'm a french owner of a A350-122 (Serial No: 39169719K)
In the french user's manual, on page 1-5, it's written that it's possible to insert an other hard drive, and on page 2-6 the rear view of the A350-122 shows a second location on the left for a second hard drive.
So, I have bought an Intel X25-M SSD to put in the second location. I have opened the second location and there is nothing: no sata connector, no power connector, only an empty location.
So, what's wrong with this Satellite A350-122?
    Thank's for your answer.

    Hi,
here is the official link for the french user manual of the A350 : http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/userman-fr-20081024130641.zip
    - On page 1-5 you will see in french as Information : "Il est possible d'insrer des disques durs supplmentaires".
If you translate these words with Google for example, it means : "It is possible to add additional hard disks".
    - On page 2-6 you will see a picture of the rear with of the laptop and on the left, in red, it's written : "Disque dur 2".
If you translate these words with Google for example, it means : "Hard Disk 2".
I have contacted the customer service by phone, they admit there is a problem and the will find a friendly solution...
    Chtilainlain.

  • Satellite A20-S103 - crackling noise with new HDD

    Hello together
I upgraded my A20-S103 laptop with a Western Digital WD2500BEVE 250 GB hard drive running under Windows XP Pro.
Since then I have problems with the sound and the mouse movement when the CPU usage is high.
Lets say up to 50 % usage everything works fine but above I have cracking noise and the mouse sticks and makes jumping movements.
The drivers and the BIOS are updated to the latest Toshiba versions online.
After some time and alot of search I got also the hard drive running in DMA mode with the ALI IDE4008.exe tool so it is not that the hard drive is running in PIO mode.
Further I think that the hard drive speed is low when the CPU usage is high.
Please read also http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=89990&#89990 which is showing I am not the only one with this problem.
    Does anybody knows a solution?

I agree with Akuma. You should try to update the BIOS and the chipset drivers and see if it works or not.
    It worth a try ;)
    Both you can find here:

  • Permissions and problems with external HDD

Starting today I have been unable to copy anything to my 1T Seagate FA GoFlex external HDD. I can access the drive, I can copy files FROM the drive back to my Mac Mini, but I cannot copy anything to the drive. Whenever I try to copy anything I get the error "The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -50)." I have spent the last four hours doing an exhaustive search, and have tried every solution I've come.
Somehow, over the last few days, something has happened to change this external HDD--the permissions and possibly the format. I have been in Disk Utility and am unable to repair. I have tried accessing Disk Utility from startup and am unable to repair. I have also copied the content off of the HDD and have tried to reformat the drive, but I'm getting an error when I try this as well.
When I tried to verify the disk I got this error:
When I tried to repair the disk I got this error:
After copying all of the important files to other drives, I attempted to reformat and got this error:
Then I tried the secure option and got this error:
I did notice that when I click on the Erase tab, the format shows as "Mac OS Extended" but when I click on the RAID tab the format shows "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)". Shouldn't these match?
I have been using this external HDD for several years now and have never had a problem. This does coincide with the copying of some .mp3 files. Could this be the culprit? (I was unable to remove one zip folder of these mp3 files.)
The permissions for this external HDD seem out of whack as well:
It states "You can only read" but the admin account "MiniMel (Me)" sholws Read & Write.
I am completely stumped and irritated. Is there any help for this HDD or is it just failing? It was no where near capacity. Could the mp3 files have caused the problem? I think this is unlikely, the the timing is coincidental. Should I worry about this happening to the other external HDD and my HD where I copied the files so I could reformat?
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you for your reply.
I tried that last night. When I tried to verify the disk from startup, I received this message:
when I tried to repair the disk I received this message:
After the second message, I moved what I needed off the external HDD and tried to reformat. Which led to the errors in my OP. So frustrating.
